I had a double take deal that was for dine in only but obviously this is not an option due to the Covid-19 restrictions imposed on restaurants. I decided I would call and ask if they would still honor the deal for takeout. I spoke with Mario himself who told me that if I spend more than the $30 on the certificate he would honor it and explained to me that his business was suffering terribly. So, I placed my order for Manicotti and Eggplant Parm dinners, as well as a plain large pizza and an eggplant parm sub and off I went to pick up my food. I pulled into the parking lot of Mario's pizza which was certainly an unassuming and old school building. Upon entering it was reminiscent of an 80's style pizzeria. I was surprised to see that the place appeared to be business as usual and no sign of gloves, masks, or sanitizers and several people working behind the counter. My food was ready when I arrived and still hot. I was a bit surprised that the dinners were on the smaller side and didn't come with any sides or bread as most places provide. The eggplant didn't even come with pasta. All in all the food was decent but I wasn't wowed. The only reason I really went here was because of the double take deal and based on the reviews I expected better. The pizza was nothing special either but on a positive note the prices are very low. Maybe there are some specialties here that I missed but I won't be going out of my way to go here again.

Smelled so good. I ordered a small pie with mushrooms and sausage. Oh my! The sausage was out of this world, crumbled on top, big chunks. I would highly recommend sausage if you're a fan and the mushrooms were so fresh. Place has been there forever, but it was my first time...won't be my last. Go out of your way if you're in the area.

Every bite felt generous and well balanced. We also tried their famous mustard pizza with sausage, and it absolutely lived up to the hype. The thin crust is perfectly baked, light, and crispy, making it easy on the palate and the stomach while still delivering bold, delicious flavor. The combination of mustard and sausage is unique and incredibly satisfying. What makes this place even more special is its more than 100 years of experience -- you can truly taste the tradition, craftsmanship, and passion in everything they serve. This is not just pizza; it's history and excellence on a plate. Highly recommended -- we'll definitely be coming back!

The ambience is smart casual, and not fussy, but with food and service that you'd expect at a place that charges double the prices. All of the food was top notch. Standouts are the artichoke heart Francese, mozzarella en corrozza, and fried calamari appetizers; and chicken Italiano, chicken marsala, and salmon Neapolitan mains. Their tiramisu and tartufo capped off the meal perfectly. If you're in Trenton or Princeton, Gennaro's is worth the drive.

The Veal Sorrentino sounded mouth watering by the ensemble cast of ingredients listed on the menu (prosciutto, eggplant, mozzarella, light marinara-white wine). Overall, this dish was very disappointing, I couldn't taste any flavor in the meal. Once again, the spaghetti from an Italian restaurant was lackluster as well, this is like ordering a wonton soup from a Chinese restaurant and it not meeting your expectations. We tried a gluten free pizza as well, my girlfriend enjoyed it. I can only describe the pizza being almost like a cracker. This is not neccessary a bad thing but think flatbread pizza, not the type of pizza where you get a nice chewy bite. At $50+ plus dollars between the two items I can say I am glad I gave it a shot but I would not bring home take out from here again, I would give it a try in person though and reevaluate after the experience. As always people SYOY!!!
