We bought 2 salads. 1 buffalo chicken Ceasar salad and 1 chicken Ceasar. For $31, I would have preferred to make our own salad at home after seeing it. There was nothing special about it nor was it visually appetizing. After my husband and I ate (threw half of it away), we both started to feel quite sick to our stomachs. We believe we were given spoiled salad dressing or maybe the chicken was not fresh. We will not be returning customers. I don't know what kind of wicked magic is used here but my first trip here I grabbed a cheesesteak and a slice to go. This cheeseteak was so damn tasty, so far the best I have had in the area. Toasted roll went nicely with it. This will be my go to when I need to grab lunch or early dinner as I work down the street. read more

I had a double take deal that was for dine in only but obviously this is not an option due to the Covid-19 restrictions imposed on restaurants. I decided I would call and ask if they would still honor the deal for takeout. I spoke with Mario himself who told me that if I spend more than the $30 on the certificate he would honor it and explained to me that his business was suffering terribly. So, I placed my order for Manicotti and Eggplant Parm dinners, as well as a plain large pizza and an eggplant parm sub and off I went to pick up my food. I pulled into the parking lot of Mario's pizza which was certainly an unassuming and old school building. Upon entering it was reminiscent of an 80's style pizzeria. I was surprised to see that the place appeared to be business as usual and no sign of gloves, masks, or sanitizers and several people working behind the counter. My food was ready when I arrived and still hot. I was a bit surprised that the dinners were on the smaller side and didn't come with any sides or bread as most places provide. The eggplant didn't even come with pasta. All in all the food was decent but I wasn't wowed. The only reason I really went here was because of the double take deal and based on the reviews I expected better. The pizza was nothing special either but on a positive note the prices are very low. Maybe there are some specialties here that I missed but I won't be going out of my way to go here again. read more

Mario's Pizza is well known for it's excellent pizza with exceptional crust. My wife and I have frequented often over the years. We enjoy his tomato pie which I refer to as a "crossover" for he makes a perfect blend of a tomato pie on top of his pizza crust. Those who like tomato pie but want more crust than the super thin normally associated with it will be very pleased. In addition, we heard that the cheesesteaks and fries are second to none. So we tried them and were not disappointed. The cheesesteak was great, the roll was awesome. And the fries were the best! And generous servings too. read more

Mario's sits on East State Street Extension, west of the I-95 underpass; an area of Hamilton where I rarely go because it feels a bit isolated. Glad I put on my big boy pants and drove out there for lunch Friday afternoon, because it is a nice shop with everything made in house, and friendly folks. I sat at one of the few booths, in sight of the HDTV showing Trump's inauguration with commentary. Ordered the eggplant parmesan sandwich, and pulled a Coke Zero from the cooler. Even got to read the complementary Trentonian rag that was on my table. The hot sandwich was a foot long, cut in half, and loaded with thin slices of breadcrumb coated, olive oil pan sauteed, deep purple nightshade. It was topped with a layer of mozza and finally a thick chunky red gravy. It was so big, I decided to use knife and fork rather than attempt direct oral assault. It was delicious and filling. I should have asked for extra sauce on the side, because the eggplant overwhelmed the top dressing, and more dipping would have made the lunch even better. Not complaining. It was excellent. I chose to leave most of the roll aside so I could concentrate on the prize. Will return for their pizza and tomato pie and revisit Mario's star power, without the political commentary. read more

This is one if those rare, old school Italian pizza joints that is frozen in time from 1975. The deep orange tile kitchen walls and contrasting floor, fake wood wall paneling with adjacent red booths, yellow lit menu boards with crooked black letters, and vintage chandeliers make this a place that gives you the feeling of stepping back to simpler time. The prices are old school too. I got a meatball parm and a soda for under $9. The meatballs were homemade, and there was just the right balance of marinara sauce and cheese. Toasted in the pizza oven perfectly and served on two paper plates stuck together, this was a fantastic sandwich for a Thursday afternoon. Coming back for sure when I'm in the area again. read more

I been going to Mario since they opened. The place is the same as it always been which makes it very warm and happy to be in there. The pizza is one of the best out there. Mario goes out of his way for all of his customers when requested. They took care of my catering for both of my parents funeral and always goes above and beyond for everyone. We stopped in to have pizza, I eat gluten free. This was the best gluten free pizza I have had. The crust was fantastic. The pizza held up overnight for lunch the next day. The sauce was really good too. I had pepper, onion and garlic on it and they were perfectly cooked, not over or under cooked. We were looking for a place to eat and found it. When we walked in, it looked like it hadn't been renovated in 30 years. There was a Pacman-looking arcade game and empty gumball machines. The pizza was average. It was okay but there was nothing special about it. The meatball sub is really good, so I would suggest that. They get the 3 P's from me - Perfect Pizza Place! If you love that good ol home town pizzeria then Mario's is the place 2b. They're "authentic" and to me that's the true essence of great pizza products. Friendly staff, fast cooking, and great tasting food. My new favorite cheese steak, beefy, tasty and filling. I also tasted 2 slices of plain and 2 slices of Sicilian (my fav) so far and both were great the ratio between sauce cheese and dough were perfect. (I used to be a pizza guy a looooong time ago, i was damn good too, made ev from scratch. Everything.) so take my word for it. ALSO, a nice HD flat screen on top of the soda machine with booths down the wall to sit in and enjoy the game. The decor, I couldn't rave enough about. They are fans of my sports team and have plaques on the one wall and world landscape photos on the other. fresh ingredients, veg's, etc ensure a quality tasting meal. Best pizza in town. Grew up in Hamilton so I know all the places around town for pizza, and Mario's is by far my favorite. While the atmosphere isn't the greatest because they always have loud Italian soccer games on the TV, the owners are extremely friendly and make sure that you enjoy your meal. Seeing the sign for Mario's as I drive down 295 on a weekly basis made me look up the reviews on this place. While so many reviewers saying it's the best pizza they've ever had, I think it was just "ok" pizza. The flavor and texture was identical to Brother's by the Princeton Junction train station (which is closer to us). We won't be coming back, mainly because we can get the same stuff much closer to us and the same price. read more

If you don't look like a "preferred customer" don't go to Mario's. I stopped by one night after work in plain clothes, ordered a large cheese pizza, and sat down across from the register. 10 minutes later a man in business casual walked in, ordered the same thing, and stood at the register. About 5 minutes one of the employees pulled a large cheese pizza out and the other customer prepared to pay. I stood up told him it was probably mine. He saw me waiting so he apologized and backed off. The employee "corrected" me, stating it was in fact the other guy's. How someone can order the same item 10 minutes later than someone else and be served first is beyond me. I guess the manager decided my time and business didn't matter. Now they don't seeing as I'll never go back. If my family wasn't waiting for me with the expectation of Mario's I would have left on the spot. read more

Pizza here is the Jersey standard. The restaurant is well kept and clean, though I was distracted from enjoying my pie by the soccer game on the television. I couldn't even have a conversation with my date. It definitely detracted from the atmosphere. Regardless when in Hamilton, Mario's isn't a bad choice. read more
