The lobster roll looks the part but was light on the actual lobster, in our opinions. Felt the bread to everything else ratio was really off, so it feels like mostly bread with some lobster here and there. The chimichuri steak sandwich comes with arugula, gruyere, roasted peppers and grilled shallots and was a decent bite but not overly memorable. The French dip, on the other hand, was really tasty with that au jus and melted cheese. That was the real winner. Overall, nice ambiance, drinks were decent, some misses and some hits. If you go, definitely get the French dip and the tuna of sticky rice, slip that liner roll and the mini crab cakes and up to you on the chimichuri steak sandwich.

This is one of the best Mariscos restaurants i have had in a while! I had the shrimp cocktail and it had TONS of shrimp! Soooo good, perfectly seasoned with crackers on the side. I also had a steak burrito, wet with red sauce. I like to ask for the beans and rice on the side because the burrito is already so damn huge that if they put it inside the burrito I can't finish it. Amazing! It came with a seafood soup, it was so damn tasty! I wanted to ask for another bowl! If you go, you must try that soup! Then I tried my friend's mojarra frita, one of the best i have ever tried! My new favorite is the Bean and Cheese burrito with red sauce on top. I can eat the whole thing! They have a Jukebox, so if you know your spanish music, it's a plus. The place looks a little run down on the outside, inside is great! It's in a questionable area in Van Nuys but that does not make the food. The food is great and the service is so friendly! The owner came to say hi and make sure we were enjoying our meal. How sweet! He even gave us a free gelatina for desert. To top everything off, that have my favorite bottled Cokes from Mexico! Now that alone is a star in itself! Oh no please! Do not be mislead by 5 star reviews of this place! This place is majorly yucky! 1st of all, even though i asked the waitress what country the owner was from and she said "Jalisco Mexico" BULLSHIT! Us mexicans dont cook crap like this! I went in there during lunch time and was a little scared because the place was completely lonely...but I was already there and have only one hour to spare so i stayed. We got seated and got chips with a salsa that needed half of the salt bottle and some sort of disgusting broth with something that looked like meat...but i can bet my ass it wasnt! My friend ordered a shrimp cocktail and I ordered camarones a la diabla. Both dishes were utter garbage. And to top it off their drinks are diluted and disgusting. I ordered a michelada and this thing was warm and it seemed like only half of the corona was poured in with 90% tomatoe juice. AND THE MAIN REASON I WILL NOT RETURN is because the owner comes at least 4 or 5 times to your table to ask you how the service is, how the food tastes, what time it is, what your hobbies are, etc..on top of all the 5 times the waitress comes to your table with the same questions. I appreciate the attentiveness but it was just way too annoying..and id rather risk diarreah at taco bell then pay another $50.00 bill for this crap! read more

For some reason, we thought there would be a bar to sit at and we wanted to do a little Sunday day-drinking somewhere new. It was absolutely packed with families, no bar, but we decided to stay. I ordered a Cantarito and I had to force myself to drink slowwwwwwly because it was so damn good. I also got an oyster cocktail mostly because I felt bad about just ordering drinks. I did not regret it one bit. My friend got some tacos and reports that they were very good. The prices are pretty steep here, but I think everything is supposed to be family-style. I would consider coming here for dinner as a special treat to myself and I'll definitely be back for more oysters. One funny thing to add here is that they have signs posted on their walls that limit customers to three drinks. Makes me wonder if there are some funny stories about how that came to be. read more

If you raving about this place, you haven't had good Mariscos! The place does look a little creepy as a writer mentioned. Overly priced with sub par food taste. I had a Coctel with shrimp, abulon and octopus and a camarón de pescado tostada. The tostada was bland and there was a funny odor with some bites with very little taste. The Coctel was mediocre. The worst part was that they wanted to charge me $4.00 for extra cracker. Really!? No where in the menu nor they mentioned it was extra for crackers. It's not about me not wanting to pay, it's the ridiculous hidden fees. They did take out the extra fees for crackers when I inquired where those fees ate mentioned in their menu. I live in the Valley and always wanted to try this place and today was finally my opportunity with a big disappointment. read more

Not sure why Yelp filtered my review but after eating here today I wanted to check on their latest reviews and saw my original review had been moved to the filtered section. WTF yelp? Anyway, here is another review. This is my fave Mexican restaurant. The best chips and salsa you will ever have! It's a mariscos (seafood) place but I never go in there for the seafood but my gf loves the fried Tilapia. In my opinion they have the best carne asada burrito on the planet, best bean and cheese burrito, best tostada, best shrimp tacos and really good enchilladas. The portions are massive. Looks like a rocky hood but who cares when the food is this good. Now yelp, leave my review alone. read more

The perfect Mexican seafood restaurant! They have a variety of dishes and different styles. I order spicey shrimp called "Camarones a la diabla" and wow they were so delicious!!! I recommend this dish if you like your food extra spicey but if you dont, you can also order it mild. The shrimps were cooked just right, the sauce had tons of flavor, the rice was filled with flavor, and the salad was fresh! I only wish they gave me more shrimp, but everything was fantastic!
