What happened? I used to love going to this restaurant. Food was great there, all fresh snd delicious. Wasn't there for a few months and visited today for a special dinner. Among other things I ordered tacos. That was the worst tacos I ever had (( I ordered shrimp and fish taco. I'm not sure if they changed owners, but it wasn't good today. The beans usually come sizzling or bubbling but they were warm. The rice and beans had nonsalt or flavor. I'm sorry but nothing was good. The salsa sucks the food sucked and I went in a big group and spent a decent amount and none of us liked what we got. We tried a Chile relleno burrito that had no Chile inside might as well been a bean and cheese burrito. We also tried the marisco tostada, mojara and camarones. Honestly not Mexican food definitely whitewashed for sure. Not worth the $150 plus dollars we spent there. The only thing good we had was the beer because even the margaritas tasted like Tampico instead of a mango margarita. Oh well now I know will never revisit hope this review helps anyone. read more

Im not one to write negative reviews unless my experience is a bad one and today happened to be a bad one...My husband and I stopped in for lunch at this restaurant and for the most part you can sit anywhere in the restaurant as we frequent this restaurant and have never had an issue. But, for some ridiculous reason we were told we could not sit where we were sitting because the section was closed, never mind there was a few customers already sitting there. I was given the reason that there was a shift change and not enough servers and that we could only be served if we moved to the other section. I noticed there were at least 4 servers working which was enough for the amount of customers that were there. I asked to speak to the manager only for her to side with her servers. Obviously the owner and staff with the exception of a couple of servers don't care about their customers. They obviously lack in the value of customer service. We have been coming here for at least 4 years and have NEVER been treated this way! This restaurant needs to make some much needed changes. I will no longer support this restaurant and will spend my money elsewhere. read more

I've been here a few times a couple years back and revisited today, I totally forgot how great this place is. The service is amazing and they are very attentive. The food itself is decently priced considering the portions are very large. I had chorizo and eggs plate and it came with beans and rice. The chorizo had a kick but was so good!!! My boyfriend had the 7 mares soup - he said it was one of the best he's had, which is a huge compliment because he always has something to say. Got delivery and everything was good. Great guacamole, tender and flavorful carne asada, beans the perfect consistency for dipping and really good fluffy rice. The salsa is just right; not too picante. We got a Chile relleno burrito which was fantastic. Thin, tender tortilla with a perfect ratio of beans, rice and gooey cheese. Ordered two tamales and they were the same ones one gets a super market called Vallarta . Ordered a sunny side up egg and it didn't even have any seasoning . Lastly ordered a torts de asada . 1 I asked for beans in the torta if it wasn't for the beans it would have been literally lettuce tomato and a piece carne that was thinner than paper that was also so salty . Food is pretty good, but their service is horrendous. I had 3 different servers come to my table and ask me what I would like to order all while I was watching the first one walk by me multiple times with none of the drinks that I initially ordered. Refills and help after the initial food being served was non existent. To add insult to injury, I saw 3 servers leave for lunch/home. None of them told me that there would be a new server serving me. After having to flag a new waitress down, I asked her if I had to get my own stuff from this point since my waitress went home. I tried sope and cheese enchiladas at lunch time. Quick and friendly service. The sope had a nice, fluffy texture and the chile verde was very good. The cheese enchilada was fine. Super clean and the service by the staff is great, but they need to put more veggies in the caldo. When I order to go usually they don't serve the same amount as when I eat there...which should be normal practice. I know it is hard to have containers to fit everything, but then use two containers...one for the caldo and the meat, and the other one with the veggies. Please help! read more

Came because my sister always comes to eat with her husband here. I got a large shrimp cocktail and was delicious I left satisfied! I like the self seating thing they have and the waitress comes to you a few minutes later. Service was good and it wasn't too busy for a Sunday. Oysters came out on ice but warm to the touching tasted a bit fishy. When we finally got our plates the medium-rare steak was burned and over cooked, the ketchup was extra runny like they put water in it, michaladas come out warm with a cup of ice on the side. Overall very over priced. read more

When The Pescador is too busy don't wait just head out here it beats waiting in line and the food is plentiful. My dad and mom took me here and we all got cocktails with the works from shrimp, oyster, avocado, it pretty much had it all. It doesn't get very loud here you can talk and have a great time. The service isn't bad and even when it's busy you will be helped out it if you want to change the tv channel to a certain game they will change it if you want it. read more

Decided to try out a different Mexican restaurant last week. It's not that the food is bad, but frankly, it sounds better than it delivered. Salsa was a bit on the bland & watery side. I had the Caldo (forgot the exact name) but it had the octopus, fish, imitation abalone, crab legs, etc. The broth was light on taste, carried only by the saltiness. The shrimp in pineapple looked great, but it was ketchup-y in taste. I was really expecting some awesome salsa roja or other roasted pepper. If you want a much better alternative, my local 5-star vote goes to Los Portales, on the corner of Central & Walnut. My review is based on the breakfast here. The huevos rancheros are amazing. I crave these like everyday and I've tried huevos rancheros at a ton of other Mexican places and they don't compare. I need to find out what's in their sauce because I can't keep spending all my money here lol. *Tip: Call ahead and order to go if you don't want to sit down; they make your food incredibly fast. I usually call and drive there (takes less than 10 mins) and they have the food hot and ready! We ordered some food from this place through DoorDash and as the driver is arriving my buddy gets an alert that he was refunded some of the money that was paid. We called the restaurant and we spoke to an employee Janet. She refunded the money for the main food and decided to send what she wanted. We spoke to the Manager Gina who is a joke and did nothing even though my friend requested a complete refund. Won't be ordering or going to this place again.
