Yep, three stars was about right. I was walking back from Thai Spooon yesterday when I noticed that this was no longer the site of a really terrible-looking Italian restaurant anymore, but instead was hosting a fairly nice-looking Mexican place, so I figured we should try them, which I did, today for lunch. We ordered two wet burritos - one beef, one chicken. Service was fast and effective, the burritos were crazy large, and the cheese, sauce, sour cream and guacamole all tasted fresh and pretty flavorful... but the chicken and beef were both pretty mediocre quality (mostly tasteless beef; moderately gristley chicken.) For 10 bucks, I'd expect better (actually, I was expecting cheaper, too, but that's partially my fault: there's a big "6 buck wet burrito during lunch hours" sign up out in front, which was our plan, but it *does* say in smaller print on the same sign, only M-F. If there weren't plenty of other better and/or, cheaper Mexican places around, I'd be tempted to give them 4 stars (they weren't *bad*, just only ok), but there are, so I won't. read more

With that said, it was the best breakfast burrito I'd had in a while. The tortilla was nearly translucent but kinda chewy, and the hash browns inside are ..plentiful. That's kind of the best thing hash browns can be. Their salsa is spicy and kind of smoky which I'm into, SO Visit 2: we went back despite their big flipping oops, and I got one without bacon and it was the tits. We came to eat our second time here. Every 5 minutes they came by asking us if we wanted a box or the tab already. I had just received my food and 10 minutes later they asked me if we wanted a a box. I asked the nice lady for a lunch menu. Alas, they don't have any. Their lunch specials were posted outside. Besides I was apparently too early. Noon is when they serve lunch. *sad* I then asked for the breakfast menu. Again it was posted outside. Why? I don't understand. Oh well... I remembered seeing a picture of pozole.I thought, "Pozole, it is! Pozole is always good. You can never go wrong with pozole. Oh yeah! Pozole!" I ordered pozole for myself and carne asada burrito for my partner. I took it home, excited and eager to tear into my meal. With all its accoutrements, I took a sip of the broth. The flavor was fine, but nothing special. I took a bite of the beef, and it was little chewy. It was a little disappointing to say the least. If the restaurant's decor represents the food, then they were spot on. I'm confused and disengaged. The saving grace of this place was the burrito. According to my partner, it was good. We cake here on a Saturday night around 7:30p. It was completely dead! Literally there was no one in there but we still decided to stay and try it out since we were there. The table ordered: chicken fajitas, side salad, 2 wet burritos, camarones empanizado, and camarones culichi. Everything's was delicious!! The food cane out fast, not sure if it's always like that or if not was because we were the only customers. The restaurant smelled super clean! The waitress was friendly. First of.. this place can be rated higher, but I don't think they believe in their own potential. I went there while in the area for work. Despite the previous reviews, I walked in. Very kind but uninterested welcome. The server yelled from across the restaurant to just take a seat.. (which is not that uncommon in these types of restaurants) I don't mind that much unless I'm with company. There where several tables that where unclean due to previous customers, left me one option really. Again this isn't uncommon.. if you're busy, you're busy, that's good for business. Unfortunately no have to say that.. after having sat there, I learned from simply scanning the room that someone that is in charge of the place was there... Drinking having a good time. Which is ok.. to each their own but, in my opinion, if you care to keep your business running smoothly.. you'd be attentive to it's upkeeping. Sad to watch people not care for the progress and longevity of their product. My food was not that good. I ordered ceviche.. every restaurant adds it's twist to the recipe,here, i don't feel the fish is the best nor that they use the best ingredients for it's base. Not the worst I've had... But not the best. Priced for good quality though..it's not what gets delivered. Along with my ceviche I had tacos... Meat was really dry... Not tender... Nor well seasoned. Looked like it should... But again taste wasn't there. I really hope they get their act together there. But it really seams that theyre counting on making money off the liquor sales more so than service and food. I just randomly walked in here cause I had to take a dump. I knew I had to order something. So I got a Corona "familiar". The big daddy quart of one of Mexico's finest beers. The waitress was some young 20 something dingbat. Rolling her eyes at me cause I ordered a beer at 9:30 am. Not your job to judge me, sweety. Just to serve me. Thanks! So I asked her what's good on the menu and she gave me the typical lazy waiter answer that no good server anywhere in the business that expects a good tip would say. "Everything is good". OMG! She did not just say that. I haven't heard that response since Jimmy Carter was in office. So I ordered the shrimp quesadilla which was actually pretty good. The guacamole and salsa could use some revamping though. Why do so many restaurants fall short on the sides? A great side can make or break a restaurant. As a business owner myself, I could never imagine treating a customer the way they treated my Grandmother. My grandma went to eat at this restaurant by herself recently. She was given a pozole that barely had any maiz or meat. The vegetables she was given were old. Terrible food quality. After my grandma asked for her plate to be fixed, they took a long time to do so. My grandma became upset as she can't go long without eating so she let them know she no longer wants the meal. The lady who took her order began yelling at my 70 year old grandmother. Then proceeded to kick her out of the establishment.
