They came in and replaced my wood floors, redid the downstairs half bathroom and replaced a carpet and redid several closets after water damage removal. Christino is amazing!! Without question, MS Construction is a first-class operation. We had a house fire on May 9 and the repair process could have been a nightmare. Between their excellent communications with us and SAFECO insurance, MSC handled the job flawlessly. They arranged for every repair in the proper order. They organized the move in and out of our house. Maricela, Graciella, and GERONIMO ;-) packed, moved and unpacked furniture and a zillion boxes with unbelievable efficiency and good humor (which, in our case, was VERY important). The project manager, Romi, was on top of every job and everyone. He was easily contacted and returned calls almost immediately. He even graciously put up with a couple of stress-related tantrums. Every question or problem was answered and solved as soon as possible. All of the men and women were exceptionally polite and efficient. An excellent crew. The Estimator timely came out and was very informative and really polite. He was "on par" with our home insurance estimations. The Project Manager contacted us next and was very cordial. He worked very hard to accommodate our schedule and was able to coordinate all the work that was needed to get the job done. He did an excellent job coordinating the work. All of the worker were courteous, clean, neat but most of all, their workmanship was excellent! And.. no mess was left with the job in every detail was complete! So I had a refrigerator that was leaking for over 3 years underneath the linoleum in my kitchen floor I didn't know it until one day I walked in from work and part of my kitchen floor had buckled, there was no obvious evidence that something was happening so I called my plumber. He said it wasn't a plumbing issue it was coming from a refrigerator. he showed my husband and I where it was happening from we called AAA our insurance agent, they sent out Restoration Management they did a great job in stopping the issue. They stripped my kitchen down to the bones that was in September 2018. In October we chose another construction company, I will leave out their name for now but if you want to know who they were you can contact me, they would a worst ever! So we contacted another construction company Mark Scott Construction. I dealt with Chelsea and I will tell you this in November 2018 through February 2019 which was the amount of time it took for my kitchen to be restored they brought it to a level of professionalism, because I have a Bakery. My parents had a toilet break in the bedroom that has the only accessible bathroom for my father, who is a 72 year old disable veteran with Parkinson's disease. This happened in mid June. They filed an insurance claim and Mark Scott's estimator came out right away. There was a short delay in claim approval (1-2 weeks) but Mark Scott's people came out and demolished and sealed the bed/bathroom. Blocking the only available bathroom one that floor for my father to use. His crew came out and did minimal work once or twice a week for nearly 4 months! I called them after a few weeks and they blamed the insurance and the person I talked to was rude and seemed irritated that I was complaining. When I mentioned that my father was a 72 year old disabled veteran, he did not seem to care. I called the insurance and they said that they approved the "extra work" and Mark Scott should be resuming work soon. This took weeks! Bottom line is this company has NO respect for the elderly or veterans. Nearly 4 months to repair a spare bathroom with water damage. My father had to be carried upstairs whenever he needed to shower and we had to move his bed into the living room. I would give them ZERO star rating if I could. read more

No star will be given if this is available! The project was delay for almost a year and ending up they told me they couldn't get the job done! Whenever they need me for the payment, 3 to 5 call a day plus email try to set up an appointment for payment. Once they realize that the work can't be done, they keep telling me is okay and keep delaying my project! I call like 5 - 6 times a day and didn't get any response. I don't think I will get told the work can't be done until I go to their pleasant hill office! The PM should notify me if there a problem instead of get half of my payment of the job and keep delaying my project. I feel totally disappoint about this company and hope no one will face the same situation than I do again! read more

Do not use this contractor. We were referred to Mark Scott Construction by CSAA insurance for remediation and repair of water leak damage. They were quick to show up on day 1 in order to get the job, but after that kept saying "we have too many projects, we are too busy .... Well, that begs the question as to why you take on new projects if you won't be able to service them. They were terrible to work with. They under identified the damage and were going to do a half way job on the repair. Luckily, we got fed up and found another company which CSAA approved. The new company, Dry One Out Restoration, was a pleasure to work with. We then had our prior remodel contractor due the reconstruction. We now can feel happy that our repair was done correctly. Never ever use Mark Scott if you are referred to them by your insurance company. If we could get them a zero we would. read more

We had major water damage in our house from a faulty dishwasher. MS Vital restoration came in and did a great job with the mitigation. This was a difficult job. All the common areas were ruined. Furniture and belongings had to be packed, hauled away and stored. The wood floor, kitchen, granite, bathroom etc. had to be removed. The wood floor was glued to the slab and was tough to remove. Walls had to be ripped open. Mold had to be found and eradicated. Then all the duct system cleaned. This was a challenging task! The team that came to our house, worked very hard and long. When needed, they came in on the weekends. We are grateful to each and every one of them! read more

Mark Scott Construction has been offered to us as a home repair company by our insurance - AAA. MSC was prompt to respond during initial engagement - they came out promptly to do the mitigation work, at this point everything was "Sir this, and Sir that". The mitigation area was roughly 7'x7' and required only tile removal - which took full day with a good hour of lunch time. Portable air dryer was installed at the same time, which was supposed to run for 3 days non-stop, but ended up running for give or take two weeks, due to super advanced humidity measuring tool they have that measures humidity across the walls, probably all the way to my neighbors kitchen's floor. Of course, this can be subjective, however from the looks of it, they were drying out AAA's pockets.. Then MSCs estimator came out - Brandon L., once again - Sir this and Sir that Beware - tried to have me sign repairs contract before even AAA approved the work, so I could have been liable for any additional charges if AAA did not approve the cost. MSC had to come out several more times and re-submit proposals to AAA for approval.. After visiting us few more times, they had to go back to AAA to ask for more money few more times (with no changes on our end whatsoever), I got a hint that AAA is basically getting milked. This whole ordeal dragged over the time of 2 months, our kitchen's floor was taken apart (it's a small studio size area), we could not use our refrigerator, dryer/washer was out of commission too, as they had to be relocated out of the mitigated area. MSC has told us that they could finish repairs within the initial two weeks, AAA had approved their initial proposal right away, from there on we were continually told to wait another week, every week. MSC was quick to mitigate by creating a mess and removing essential household appliances, however were no help with the actual repairs after. We got 2+ months runaround from them and false time expectations. AAA has offered us to find a new contractor, with no penalties from bridging the contact with MSC, MSC parted with us in 15 minutes of letting them know. We found a new contractor (Fine Floorz in Walnut Creek, big thumbs up), and within two weeks we had new floor done. Stay away from MSC, not true to their word. read more

MS Construction came out gave me a bid I felt comfortable with. They proceeded to do the work on repairing my home. Vince Curtis Is the person I dealt with? Very nice at first and he turned in to be a nightmare. Rude unprofessional basically wanted to fix my house the way he wanted to fix it. I am a Senior Citizens and he was taking advantage of me, I felt intimidated and very uncomfortable with him overtime. The repair materials where done incorrectly. Cheaply and not by code. Im not naive but I know something dosnt look right. About a few wks into the repairs, I was told that if I didn't pay the company they would put a lien on my house. I was afraid of this so I pay the bill. On uncompleted work I was also told that they would come back to complete the work. They never come back. As of today 9 months later My house is remains Unfinished. I have tried calling several times and sent a letter to them and no response. I have now Submitted a complaint to the CSLB, Better Business Bureau, Bond company, the Refer listing Co. For help in trying to get my home completed. This Company takes advantage of Senior Citizens. I have never been treated so poorly in my life by a company . Dealing with The project manager was the last straw . I had bad water damage to my home and mark construction was sent to my house by my insurance company to handle the claim . The way they treated my home during the process was a nightmare . Even the adjuster that came out said how bad it was done . The first time they came out you can tell they wanted to hurry as they ripped up carpet padding leaving wet carpet on particle board , leaving nails sticking out , baseboards ripped apart half way . But the way I was talked to by a manger was the worst I have ever been treated in my life . My loss happened in the beginning of October . My adjuster couldn't get to the home To assess damage until the 31st on Halloween due to the California wildfires . He threatened to charge me for the machines they left in my house and didn't pick up even saying they would put a lean on my property little did he know I had an appointment the next day which I canceled after dealing with him . Mark Scott Construction is the epitome of professionalism, courtesy,and high quality work. My home had been flooded by an old faulty toilet during the beginning of the Covid lock down. As soon as they were legally able,Christino and crew showed up in masks, on time and ready to work. Not only was the carpet an issue, but the walls that had been saturated by the flooding had to be restored. Not to mention painting. Everything was done beautifully even my son's bedroom in time for his birthday! We had them do a couple additional areas for painting and they were reasonably priced and fast. We had a kitchen remodel due to a refrigerator leak, went through the insurance company. Had a good experience with Mark Scott Construction when it came to mitigation and their negotiation with the insurance company, which is why I signed on with them at my insurance company's recommendation. Beyond that, I was very disappointed with the cabinets they steered me towards (Mantra), which came damaged but were installed nonetheless. When I complained to Caleb about it (a manger in the company), he insinuated legal threats (saying that I signed for these cabinets and that he could put a lien on my house). I never imagine being bullied this way by a contractor I hired. I regret hiring Mark Scott construction to design and rebuild my kitchen. There are numerous flaws that either they were not willing to repair or I didn't trust them enough to repair (worried they would make it worse). They hold themselves to a "good enough" standard, which is not what I signed up for. I strongly suggest you find another contractor to work with. Insurance claims don't have to go through the insurance company's recommended contractor. read more

We had what turned out to be a very disappointing experience with Mark Scott Construction. They came recommended by our insurance company to repair some water damage to our home caused by a plumbing failure. The project started out really well. Because of the water damage to our home, it meant that both of our bathrooms needed enough repair that that were going to be out commission for a while. The company that handled the tear-out did so efficiently and professionally. When the crew left after the tear-out everything was as clean as it could be. We were very pleased with that phase of the work, and we looked forward to a quick and professional wrap up of the job. The problems arose after we paid Mark Scott Construction the deposit for the work to do the reconstruction. Our project manager was uncommunicative and did not seem to care when our job got started. When he finally began to communicate, the change orders for the work included billing us for work that was also being billed to the insurance company. That happened twice. The project manager then met with me and promised a correct change order the following day, which was a Sunday. The day came and went with no change order. At that point, I was fed up with the repeated mistakes and the failures to meet commitments as to timing. It had been over a month since we put down our deposit and no work had been done to repair our bathrooms. I e-mailed the president of the company and asked for a new project manager. I e-mailed the project manager and told him that I had lost faith in his ability to get the job done and wanted another project manager. The project manager called me the morning he received the e-mail. I cut him off and I told him I just wanted a new project manager. He told me that he had not agreed to deliver the change order the following day, essentially accusing me of lying. I had a follow up conversation with the operations manager and made clear my anger over the failure of the company to timely complete the job. The operations manager told me at that point that it was unreasonable to expect that a change order would have been delivered on Sunday, even though that was what was promised. I repeated my desire for a change of project manager, which he refused to do. His words were, "We're not going to do that mid-stream" even though no work at all had been done. The conversation was really tough and I was really angry at the way we had been treated. At this point, more than a month had gone by without any work being done and with both bathrooms being out of commission. We concluded that conversation with their commitment to deliver a correct change order later that day. I promised to review the change order and, if it was correct, to mail them a check the following morning to enable them to start the work. I never got the chance to do that. Shortly after that conversation, the operations manager phoned me back and told me that they were not going to finish the job, after more than a month of failing to get started. I think that had I hired a company that was able to timely execute on their promises, the work would have been finished at this point. Update to the above. Mr. Scott was quick to respond here. During the process described above, I tried to contact him directly. He did not return my phone calls. Further, he is lying about the insurance company being the problem. We contacted the insurance company and they were surprised that the construction had been started. They were nothing but helpful during the whole process. read more

Even though the state protocols were very strict, Mark Scott made a way to work on the damaged flooring, walls, plumbing, and cabinetry and still be in compliance. As an architect, I pride myself in having a beautiful home. Mark Scott did not disappoint me with there excellent work. Keith, our project manager, is a man of integrity and excellent communication. He was thorough and treated the rebuild like it was his home. He even communicated with me while on vacation and went the extra mile to make it perfect. Jerry Reno, was the first guy there and the last to leave, and where there was an issue he handled it. I can not say enough great things about MS Construction. The CFO was excellent as well, as we had an issue with our mortgage company, and he took our side and made it right. This is a first class organization and I will use them again if I ever remodel a home or have anything that I want to be top notch. I have dealt with many contractors through the years and I highly recommend this company. The team follows up on all repairs and consistently communicates through the entire process. The company was extremely patient with my elderly mother and made sure that she understood the entire process of repairing her kitchen. We had an insurance claim. Mark Scott Constructions name was given to us by our insurance adjustor. It took almost 2 weeks for him to get his estimate to our insurance company. They approved it in one day. For 2 weeks after the approval, we tried to reach them for a start date, we left several messages that were not answered. We have gone with another contractor. I tried Mark Scott construction because someone told me they do quite a bit of work for home insurance claims. So glad I did because they were wonderful.
