We arrived at noon, and we while I know it sounds awful to say it --the place was filthy. The front foyer had white crumbs all over the floor. It was as if they hadn't vacuumed from the night before. We sat down to find the old summer menu no fall drink specials despite that we were there in October. We asked the waitress why they were still using the summer menu and frowned and shrugged her shoulders. I'm not sure if it was function of sheer laziness on the owners' part, or maybe they can't afford to print a seasonal menu? Honestly, I hardly want to waste my time writing a review for this place. The drinks, appetizer, and main dishes were all terrible. I mean it. We had better food back in the day when we used to go to Applebee's. That's it. Our server was fine, but there was a party of eight adjacent to us, and when their server brought their glasses of ice water, she lifted every single one with her fingers along the rim. What a little Diamond in the rough! A little hideaway seafood restaurant right smack dab in the marina in Chester. The service was lovely and the food was delicious. I highly recommend the avocado blt for lunch. But the best part is the VIEW! This would be a great spot to come and watch the sunset. The brussel sprouts and the shrimp cocktail were great. Fried calamari was okay--I've definitely had better. I was disappointed with the shrimp flatbread, and the poke bowl, well it was not a poke bowl. I went because I was craving seafood and I will say it is not an atmosphere for college students (i am a college student) but I also don't think it is supposed to fit that atmosphere so if you are older or going with your family its probably good. It was pricey--almost $100 for an early dinner/late lunch for two (and not an excessive amount of food). 2.5 stars personally from my perspective, but again, I think other demographics would enjoy this restaurant more (it looked like the other people around me were enjoying themselves). read more

Here is my exact message as sent.............. I am a day 1 customer. This summer the food has become increasingly worse until our last trip. We have mentioned this several times with no ears listening. I am not sure if we will return. We were a party of 10 with zero happy. The wait staff appeared unhappy like robots as well. I just want to give a huge shout out to Marker 37, Saturday 9/14/24 my step son was getting married and the reception was here. well we had a issue with them getting married at Gillette castle because the bridge was shut down. The coordinator contacted the restaurant and they allowed us to have the wedding right on their property. When we got there they already set chairs up near the river for the wedding. This restaurant went above and beyond and our entire family is more than grateful for what they did and we can't thank them enough. You cannot beat the view! We happen to be there on a beautifully warm sunny mid day. We were able to get a table outside, looking over the Connecticut river and watching all the boats. The only negative thing was that the service was incredibly slow. I ended up going to the bar to pick up our drinks which we had ordered 30 minutes before! Other than that, everything was fantastic. It's a beautiful interior. Very welcoming. Everything we ate was super delicious. Beef, short rib, sandwich, fish and chips, which was haddock and very tasty. Had a couple of their house craft cocktails which were sublime. We will give it another shot. But maybe first stop at the bar and get our drinks! read more

Decided to give this restaurant another chance when friends from out of state wanted water front dining with drinks. I procrastinated about returning because there are plenty of other options in the general area but I'm one for giving second chances. Some weeks prior to our visit we were told by friends that restaurant staff viewed them up and down as they were escorted to their table. Upon our visit I witnessed the same which I found the restaurant staff behavior to being condescending and disrespectful to a paying customer..especially it's location is within the parameters of a boaters environment which they should expect summer style attire; not a black tie clientele. Went to Market 37 for dinner on a hot steamy Friday night this August. At 6pm the parking lot was full and backed up to even pull in. I squeezed into a spot - we went inside to ask for a table on the patio. Hostess said 45 minutes to an hour and that was right. We sat outside at a high top while we waited and had a couple beers before we got our table. A nice table over looking the water near the edge of the patio. Our waitress was lovely- friendly no problems there. The location is wonderful- great views of the river. Nice seating- some comfy couches to wait in too. Not sure why the couches got waitress service but the high tops don't. Menu seems very casual to me. Apps- salads- raw bar- tacos- sandwiches and a few entrees. We ordered coconut shrimp-shrimp cocktail- grilled salmon entree and the tuna entree. My coconut shrimp came out but my husband's shrimp cocktail did not. A few minutes later I asked the waitress where it was and she said there had been issues that evening with the food running. Shrimp was tasty sauce was a little spicy. My salmon entree was very satisfying. Fish was cooked perfectly to my liking and masked potato was very good. My husband enjoyed his tuna too. No complaints. Inside was very crowded and noisy- we walked through on our way out. I was disappointed in the number of staff wearing masks- very few! Another aspect that needs some improvement would be the music. It was lacking- hard to hear and a strange mix. Pink Floyd at one point- I don't know for a new cool place the music was not so hip. All in all it was lovely and I will definitely return. read more

Went here with some friends on a Saturday. Such a pretty spot on the river. Great atmosphere overall. The food was excellent. We had chowder, short rib grilled cheese, lobster and various drinks. The young wait staff was truly impressive. Matteo was our main waiter and he was personable and always with a smile and was consistent in asking if we needed anything. Stopped in for lunch on our first day of vacation on the CT shoreline, sat on the outdoor patio enjoying the lovely river views. Started with onion rings that are served with a buttermilk dip - they were lightly fried and resembled onion straws more than rings - perfectly crispy and delicious. Enjoyed a hot butter lobster roll and cheeseburger - both served with fries - as our entrees. Both dishes were perfectly cooked and flavorful. Ended our meal with the double chocolate mousse - which seemed made for us, as I love dark chocolate and my husband is a white chocolate fan. Decadent and a perfect vacation indulgence. Next time we'll grab a few drinks on the patio sofas before we eat. The decor is perfect for riverside fine dining, and the servers and food runners were kind and extremely personable. We had the privilege of being served by Dylan, who walked us through the menu and helped us decide what we'd enjoy most. First let me start by saying Marker 37 redeemed themselves since my last review. It is unfortunate that last February I couldn't get past the Hostess to actually enjoy the food, staff and atmosphere of this restaurant!. Tonight my wife her brother and I enjoyed ourselves with three of the best entrees any of us have ever had. My favorite dish out at a restaurant is scampi. The "pink Scampi" was better than any scampi I have ever had. Every dish we tried was fantastic! Now on to our Server... Britney.... She was amazing! Attentive, and fun! Good luck in school and enjoy everything life gives you. The only downside is you may not be our server again. Overall amazing experience, and you couldn't beat sitting on the covered patio with the thunder and lightning all around. I'd particularly like to credit Aaron and Dylan for an excellent night - at once both highly professional and super friendly. Also the manager Shelby was very personable and super competent. This restaurant has a beautiful location and a screened in porch with lovely views of the river. Unfortunately, all drinks came in plastic cups- which really doesn't fit with the price point of this restaurant and really detracted from the experience. Service was friendly but disjointed. Dishes were removed before we had actually finished. The bus person was industrious, but was not really paying attention which made for some awkward moments. Maybe, due to our visit being on a Friday night, they seemed a bit overwhelmed. The menu has something for everyone which is great for a family or group. The food was good but uneven. Calamari was not crisp and was cut a bit thickly, but the sauces with it were delicious. My warm butternut salad was excellent but the accompanying grilled chicken was actually tough and crunchy? Two others had hamburgers which were messy but good. Coffee was great. Overall, we had an enjoyable evening though I think we would try it again on a quieter night. They also really need to rethink the plastic cup situation - environmentally awful and no drink tastes good in a plastic cup in a nice restaurant . read more

What a beautiful place! Marker 37 is located on a marina on the Connecticut River. We visited on a weekday afternoon for an appetizer and a few drinks. We chose to sit outside. Their outdoor seating area is gorgeous! Nice tables, gorgeous views, and a great breeze from the water. We loved the atmosphere so much- it was hard to leave! I ordered a vodka cucumber lime mint refreshing cocktail, my husband had a bourbon peach smash cocktail. We also ordered an appetizer to share- vegetable spring rolls. Our drinks were delicious and perfect for this summer afternoon. The spring rolls came with a delicate and delicious slaw, thinly sliced red cabbage, and a great soy sesame seed dipping sauce. Our waitress was so pleasant and helpful as well. Although we didn't order much, we could very clearly tell that Marker 37 is a great restaurant in a picturesque, New England location. The sort of place that knows the view is so good that they don't need to put much effort into the food, but -- really -- they barely make an effort. The poke bowl with tuna I had was like the kind of thing you expect to find in the cooler at a Cumberland Farms (same with the "flatbread," which resembled a bad microwave-ready pizza). There's nothing wrong with serving up low-quality bar food in a nice location, but what's offensive here is that it is dressed up on the menu in the guise of trendy fine dining, with prices to match. I'm sorry, but this is a place to avoid, especially when there are so many better food options in Chester. read more

Beautiful views of the CT River in a lovely restaurant. The food was delicious. We started out with oysters that were light and fresh tasting. For dinner I had the grilled cheese and short ribbed sandwich with a side salad. I sandwich was melt in your mouth and delicious! My husband had the tuna tacos with a side of light chips that came with guacamole and salsa side dips which made this a lovely meal. The only disappointment was that they didn't have any celery for the Bloody Mary. Really? There's not even sticks of celery in the kitchen? Granted, not the biggest deal but when your paying $10 a drink.... Great food, beautiful atmosphere and polite service (thanks Tucker!). This was my second time at Marker 37 and had another disappointing experience. Walking in the hostess was on her phone and didn't acknowledge us until we said hello, twice. No biggie, I figured she was probably handling something but she didn't even bother responding when we said bye on our way out. Weird. We ordered chips and salsa/guac which was overall very bland. The guac had no flavor and tasted like low quality premade stuff. The flatbread pizza would have been decent if it wasn't completely undercooked. Finally, the clam chowder was ok but the abundance of hard potatoes made it difficult to enjoy. Our server Seamus was great. He gave us just the right amount of attention and privacy and listened to our gripes about the food like a pro. Overall, it wasn't a terrible lunch but what is being served is not comparable to the prices at all. It seems like you're paying for the atmosphere and not the food. Marker 37 has the potential to be such a great spot. The location is beautiful but the food just doesn't reflect the price. read more
