My wife and I have been going to Mark's, particularly this location, since it opened, and were fans way back when it was located in Clarksville. Generally speaking, food is reliable, decent, and the overall experience quite positive. Today, however, was something of an exception. I ordered the Samon burger, as a break from the norm. The sandwhich, to be fair, was NOT bad. Flavor wise, it was decent, and the pickles and tomatoes were an adequate complement. But a few issues: for one, it was served slightly lukewarm, though this is a minor complaint. But I also had the feeling, however just or unjust it may be, that the sandwhich needs some punch. Okay, yes, it is served with some kind of thousand island type dressing and I did not use this because that's not really my thing. So instead, I substituted one of the barbeque sauces. Again, the overall flavor, with the added BBQ, was decent enough, but I could not get away from the feeling that some kind of distinctive spice, whether in the form of a hot pepper or two, or a slightly zesty sauce, would take this burger up a notch. That aside, I was pretty disappointed with the spicy fries that I chose to go with the meal. They were overcooked, hard, cold, and flavorless. I definitely got the batch that was from earlier in the day. I was forced to douse them in sauce as well, and spice them up with some table salt to try to redeem them to no avail. My wife's honey chicken wings were fine--she is more madly in love with them than I am, but they were what they always were, and that's OK, no major complaints. We also ordered desert, my wife getting some kind of banana pudding that I didn't really pay attention to, and I got a buttercream pie(I think!) which was quite yummy. My only complaint here is that both desserts were far more dimunitive than I remember them, and served on what was akin to a child's doll set in terms of size. I know restaurants are going through hard times but prices are higher at most places and portions seem smaller, which is a troubling trend in my opinion. Service was fine, mostly. We had two servers at different times, and one server made sure I got a fresh cup of coffee, which was much appreciated, but I never saw coffee after that. But our waitress was polite and gracious and mostly met our needs and I could have harassed her over the coffee I suppose. We will likely return to Mark's in a few months, as our track record is long and extensive and mostly positive, but today was just off a bit, and not up to the usual 4-5 star rating. We recently went to Marks Feed Store for lunch. There were 8 of us, 4 adults and 4 children. It was peak lunch time and the place was packed. Our name was immediately taken and there was bench seating in the wait area available. They told us the wait would be about 10 minutes and it was. We were seated in one of the larger corner booths. Our server was prompt in getting our drink order and also explaining questions we had about the menu options. We ordered the fried pickles as an appetizer. They were hot, crisp and came with 2 options of dips. The serving was large enough for all 8 of us to have several. The lunch menu offers some specials on barbeque sandwiches pork, chicken, or brisket(a little more for this) and 1 or 2 sides. Or you can get just the barbeque pork, chicken, or brisket without being on a sandwich. The barbeque comes plain and you have 3 choices of sauce to add. The barbeque is tender and good enough to eat without any sauce if that is the way you like it. They also have ribs, chicken tenders and fried fish on the menu but we all went for the barbeque. The side choices are, in my opinion, where their menu stands out. They have potato salad, baked sweet potato, sweet fried corn on the cob, baked beans, chicken pasta salad, baked apples, baked potato, cole slaw, fries or chips. I love the fried corn on the cob and the baked apples. My son-in-law always gets the sweet potato and spicy fries. When the server asked us about dessert, we were pleased to find out that it was "free" dessert day. I had the buttermilk pie which was very good. The kids had the ice cream sundaes. My daughter-in-law had the buttermilk crunch which came with ice cream, caramel and nuts. The prices were reasonable with lunch costing about $7.00 each. The service was good, the food was good. I highly recommend this place for lunch or dinner. read more

The lemon pepper fried fish has an odd texture, tried that last time after trying multiple meats that are just dry and need to be soaked with sauce to edible. The sauce is good at least? In short. Always a great meal at Mark's Feedstore. My family and I really enjoy coming here for great bbq and great service. The servers are always super friendly and attentive and our meals always come super fast. We've rarely ever had to wait for a table at this location as there is a lot of seating. We definitely won't be coming back any time soon. We ordered carry out, which we've done many times. The order was ready quickly even though the restaurant was busy. My husband picked it up and brought it home and that's where the positive experience ended. The chicken fingers dinner was inedible. The "chicken fingers" looked like some sort of potato wedges. Almost like they attempted to bread and fry sliced, baked chicken breast. The baked potato was black on one end and hard on the other. The corn on the cob was burned. The fish was too salty to eat. The only thing decent was the green beans. I might as well have lit that $50 on fire! This was the worst meal we've had from any restaurant in this area in quite a long time. I've emailed the restaurant and will attempt to call later once they aren't so busy. We threw away 75% of the food we ordered. Maybe it was an off night, but we won't be back anytime soon. read more

Restaurant in a strip mall. Was seated pretty fast. For starters, we had honey wings. They where crispy and large. For the entrees, we had ribs and shredded chicken plate. My sides where, a loaded potato and sweet potatoes with cinnamon. Ribs had a great flavor, just was not very hot temperature wise. I had Mark's two years ago when I was in Southern Indiana. I had it again last week while I in town again. Two years ago, I ordered spicy fries with my food, it wasn't spicy. This time I ordered it for my son, they were a lot spicer so I gave him some milk. He liked them and finished them, but they have a pretty good kick now. I loved my turkey dinner plate. Mark's has catered a coupld of company lunches and the food has always been pretty good, but I never really considered going to the restaurant for some reason. Maybe because the location is convenient, but a little out of the way and not where I think to get BBQ. I should have tried it earlier. As we entered the barn (well, it looks like a barn, but it is in a strip mall), we were quickly seated. Rather than waiting for the rest of our party to arrive (which they never did), the three of us who showed up on time ordered quickly off the fairly simple lunch menu. The prices were reasonable and there was enough selection without being overwhelming. Our server was prompt and helpful; offering advice on selections when needed and keeping my drink filled at all times. The pulled pork sandwich was alright, but a little dry even after adding BBQ sauce (3 types are available at the table). The sides were the highlight, though. Sweet potato was perfectly cooked. I should have asked if brown sugar was available instead of the cinnamon spread. My only complain would be regarding the Buttermilk Crunch dessert. I just didn't see much as far as the buttermilk pie chunks in my serving. It really felt like I was just eating a caramel sundae. Service was great. Hostess greeted me happily while opening the door. I came here with family (including two small children -- it's a kid friendly place!), and we had a great experience. Prices are excellent for the portions you get, and the BBQ is delicious. I tried a dinner that included pulled pork, corn on the cob, and green beans; I had enough to take home for a meal the next day. The green beans were cooked with meat (of course!) and a bit soggy, though the flavor was good. The pork was tasty and the corn was excellent. If you sign up for their email club, you get a coupon that you can use for free fried pickles or onion strings (one per party); we got the pickles, and they were great. Our server was helpful, and I'd happily go back again next time I'm visiting my relatives in New Albany. If you go in and get your food than your fine and dont have to wait, however if you place your order through any of the delivery apps like door dash be prepared for the driver to wait at least 15 minutes past the time it's supposed to be done. I went there today to pick up food for a customer and literally stood there watching them make food that obviously wasnt for my customer and after 15 minutes of I just gave up because they were showing me that they only cared about making food for dine in customers even if they just had the order placed. It's common sense, make food according to how long the order been placed, you dont put off a online order that you had for over 20 minutes just to make food for someone who only been waiting 5 minutes. Also here's the ting, the last few times I dealt with this problem they weren't even busy. Perhaps management at this store needs to remember that most of their sales comes from online orders and all it takes is me and other delivery drivers to tell our customers order from somewhere else and their sales will plummet. Message to all restaurants employees and managers, I'm the customer representative, all I have to do is tell the customer how little you care about them! read more

The person taking carry out orders was on the phone taking a large order and motioned she would be with me shortly. While waiting I noted three tables were seated in the dining room with four servers circulating about - the Manager walked pass me four separate times - yet no one offered to take my order while the other person was on the phone with the large catering order. After 15 minutes (when I decided to leave) the lady on the phone finishes and takes my order. I then sat at a table in the dining room waiting for another 15 minutes for a small order. While waiting, a gentleman came in and waited over 8 minutes (yes, at this point I was timing their responsiveness) to be seated. The brisket and their 'Original Sauce' is excellent. They have also turned me into a true fried pickle convert. The Brisket has a great season, and is not 'overdone' with gobs of wet sauce thrown over an excellent cook, but instead it is left to the dinner to decide on how much 'wet' they want. The selection of at least 10 different sides had me trying a few things I've never eaten - deep fried corn on the cob for one - and I've found myself delighted each time I've gone. On the one hand I must honestly review this restaurant but then follow that review with a cautionary warning. Over the years I have consistently felt that Mark's is one of the best restaurant's in our area for delicious BBQ. I usually feast on the ribs. I particularly love the smokey flavor, the crust that forms on the top of the ribs and that the meat falls off the bone. Not only does Mark's have the best BBQ meat, they over the BEST sides to accompany that choice. Hands down the BEST potato salad, green beans properly seasoned, outstanding mac and cheese, and delicious baked beans. I also recommend you try their lemon pepper cod fish and the smoked prime rib. Service is also fast and courteous. Unfortunately I do have one cautionary warning. If you use credit card to pay for your meal and include a tip on the card, keep your copy of the receipt (where you have written in the amount of the tip) so you can match it to your credit card statement. My wife and I ate at the New Albany store on November 26, 2018. Our bill came to $26.89 and I left a $6.00 tip on my card for a total of $32.89. (I keep every receipt from my purchases except of cash purchases and enter all these transactions into Quicken. Each account gets reconciled each month.) My credit card statement closed just a couple of days after this charge was credited to my account. When I went to reconcile I noticed my card had been charged $34.89 or $2.00 more than my receipt. This had to be the result of my tip being increased from $6.00 to $8.00. Now, I would normally let this go as just a freak error though I cannot recall this ever happening at any other restaurant. Unfortunately, this was the SECOND time this has happened at the Mark's New Albany location within three or four months. And, oddly enough, the amount of difference was also $2.00. I returned to the restaurant a few days later and presented my copy of the receipt and a copy of my credit card statement documenting this discrepancy to the manager. He seemed concerned, made a copy of my records and assured me he would confer with his boss and probably talk to the server in question. Regardless of the outcome, he told me he would get the $2.00 credited back to my charge card and would definitely call me to let me know of the outcome. As of this date I am still waiting for the credit to be issued and for the telephone call from the store manager. read more

Well let me preface this by saying I was in New Albany to play pallbearer. Not something one looks forward to but it's what you do for family. Anyway-wonderful job by the Funeral home, Kraft, and they did a fantastic job. But upstairs in the Kraft funeral home sits a little lounge for the relatives and in this room sat pans of BBQ and other delicacies from Mark's. Now I had been at Mark's in Cherokee Triangle before and I was pretty impressed BUT the huge pans of this fantastic crispy and smokey yet juicy pork and the skinless all white meat chicken-how could it possibly stay so moist? Macaroni and cheese was a hit and the baked apples? Still had some skin on them so they must be healthy- guess I'll have some more. My family and I have been coming here for as long as I can remember. It's a Louisville staple. The barbque is Great. I prefer the chicken breast but I think pork is prolly their most popular. You gotta try the fried corn on the cob and add the seasoned salt. Just yum. I always get their chicken and take the sweet dipping sauce that comes with the honey wings and use it on top of the chicken breast. For me the combo takes from Great to YUM! read more

How sad is it that i came to this location back in November and never got around to the review! After all these months the item that stands out the most is their lemon pepper fish! It's amazing and HUGE! I recommend only getting one piece and not the platter that comes with two unless you are hungry or prone to sharing. The service was really good as well. Stopped by Marks for the first time this evening. The restaurant was almost at capacity. We were welcomed by our server John. He was pretty awesome. Very friendly and did a great job. I ordered the brisket dinner, with Mac n cheese and baked beans as a side. It was definitely edible, but it wasn't anything special. The brisket was dry, the Mac and cheese was ok, and the baked beans tasted like they were straight from the can. My wife got the chicken fingers, Mac n cheese and spicy fries. She liked her dinner. We both also tried the fried pickles, not bad at all. For desert we got the buttermilk pie and Oreo banana pudding. The buttermilk pie was good but was so small. Three bites. The nana pudding tasted like it was straight from the box. Not a bad dinning experience as far as the staff were concerned, but the food was less than desirable for what we thought we were getting. read more
