My family and I have been coming to Mark's Feed Store since it opened in Clarksville many years ago. I even worked there for a bit. I have known many of the servers on a very personal basis and was invited to a wedding for the GM at the time. We have our personal servers that we really like and one being Tasha. She goes above and beyond for her customers even when she is in the weeds. She always has a smile on her face and always try's to make you feel at home. She takes her job very seriously and does a wonderful job. Do not let one nasty review of this server put a bad taste in your mouth. We picked up a tiny brochure when inside the Falls of the Ohio state Park , Indiana . Looked interesting so we took a ride 15 min. drive . Very easy to find in a strip mall on Charlestown RD . We are from out of state so first visit. Our waiter Josh was very friendly and helpful and accommodating asking if there were any sides we wanted to sample and reassuring us if we didn't like anything we could send it back .. that was not an issue we liked it all. Hubby had lunch special 4 ribs and 2 sides potato salad ( awesome took some home they also do take out) . I had the lunch slider combo with one of each pork, chicken and brisket with Cole slaw and fried corn on the cob-- that was new and different and we enjoyed it. We filled out a survey on the place and we were given 2 complimentary slices of buttermilk pie ( also a first ) and a bottle of their BBQ sauce to take with us . Mark's Feed Store in New Albany has excellent food. But my review is about "their mask mandate". Our Governor has lifted the state mask mandate, but during our visit on 4/12/21 we were stopped at the door and the hostess demanded that we wear a mask to enter. I explained that the state mandate had been lifted, but she said it was company policy. My husband wanted to leave, but it was late, so we decided to stay. The hostess gave us masks and then led us to a table about 15 feet from the hostess stand. We were seated next to a table with 4 people. When seated, my husband wasn't but 12 inches at most from the person sitting behind him! There wasn't any barrier between tables. It was not crowded, there were maybe 20 people in the whole restaurant! NOW DOES THIS MAKE ANY SENSE AT ALL? We normally eat at this restaurant at least 3 times a month, but until they lift "their mask mandate", we will eat some place where we are not harrassed about a mask. read more

Excellent ! I love this place . First time at Mark's feed store and I'll definitely be back . Started off with an app and it was great . We got honey wings and they were the best wings I've had anywhere . Had a BBQ pulled pork sandwich and fries and Mac&cheese . The Mac was absolutely amazing . As was everything else . My mother was enjoying it for her first time also and she loved it . The service was great and the food was better . The manager walked around the restaurant to check on everything and see how everyone was doing and we told him we loved it ect ect and we told him we were first timers and he gave us a coupon for 15% off for a month and a free app coupon and a free bottle of BBQ sauce ! Chicken strips were hard and tasteless. Beans tasted like Bush's canned barbecue beans with a little meat thrown in.

I have been here a few times and probably won't go again. Every time I eat here, I feel like I have wasted money. The onion straws are good , but the brisket is dry and the pulled pork is mostly fat and is mushy. Everyone who got pulled pork had huge portions the could not actually eat. My daughter and I were greeted warmly by the hostess and seated. Then we preceded to sit for five minutes as serves looked at us and walked passed us without stopping at our table. I would have been more understanding if they were busy but the place was nearly empty. We decided to leave. We stopped by the hostess stand and explained what happened and got the manager. Brandon, the manager, took care of us and made the situation right. Yet, other than hostess and manager, we were very disappointed with the service we received. We were there yesterday, 3-13 2017, mid-to-late afternoon, after lunch. I had the Lent Fish special (or whatever its called) and my wife had honeywings. Everything was excellent. The fish was amazingly fresh, very hot, lemony but not overly so. Very well prepared. Our server explained that the coffee wasn't fresh but he would see that we got some fresh and he had it to the table in no time. There was a very minimal wait for the food itself, also. He was extremely attentive but did not over do it on the visits, and we left him a 5.00 tip on a 2 fairly cheap lunch order, but if I had given him another 5 bucks it would not have been too much. Great food and great service in a causal setting. The staff is always very friendly here. Ashley was our server, and she did a fantastic job of taking care of us. I have tried the pork, brisket and chicken. All are good, but the pork is my favorite. There are also 3 different types of sauces. The original is a mustard vinegar base. A Caroline style type sauce. The red tomato based sauce is my favorite. There is also a hot, which is very good as well. It is a sweet tomato base with a little bit of a kick. Surprisingly. Their lemon pepper fish is very good. So are the sides. The homemade potato salad is a good choice. Appetizers of onion straws or fried pickles are very good as well. The menu is limited to bbq, fish, chicken fingers or burgers. I would highly recommend Mark's Feed a Store. They also do a lot of community service work behind the scenes for the local community. read more

Trying to get a carry out order and pay over the phone is way too complicated for them to figure out. If they actually stop and listen things would be so much smoother. Instead waiting and extra 15 minutes and having cold food until they can get it right is what happened. read more

Oh man. If you've got a craving for barbeque done right, THIS is the place to get it! The lunch menu was reasonably priced and their sauce ... O. M. G. Finger licking good! I've been to this store twice in the past year. My favorite items so far have been their onion straws and fried pickles. The restaurant is clean with friendly staff. My server Cody was terrific on my latest visit. That's the good. Now for the bad. I've ordered pulled pork twice and this time I also ordered Burgoo. The pork is tender and moist, but relatively flavorless. There is just not any smokey taste at all! I kept adding sauce, then salt, but just didn't satisfy and it got too much sauce. On to the burgoo which also disappointed me. It was just a bunch of brisket? in a beefy gravy with few vegetables. I didn't see any chicken either. In my experience most burgoo has a tomato/barbecue taste. I kept adding sauce which did give it some of that flavor, but the lack of vegetables just left me with a meat sandwich accompanied by a meat soup. I then got a piece of buttermilk pie which I loved last time, but this time around found sickeningly sweet. Buttermilk pie is sweet, but also tangy if made right. I won't get that again either. I would go back for the appetizers and I'd like to try their lemon pepper fish which gets good reviews, but never again when craving barbecue. It's just not real smoked barbecue. read more

We drove 34 miles one way to eat here because I was wanting BBQ. Worst experience ever. We got seated and my first thought was great it's not busy and there is plenty of staff. It was down hill from there. We had horrible service and from the grumblings coming from other tables near us, we were not alone. Got drinks and waited 5 minutes for straws, got appetizer and had to ask and wait a bit for plates. Then after lengthy wait, my side salad and fiancee's burgoo served. No spoon to eat burgoo and that took another 10 minutes to get while burgoo cooled. We wait patiently for our entrees, brisket dinner and BBQ burger, after about 40 minutes we are still without food and server wants to know if we want dessert or are we ready for our ticket. Wait, what??? No we want our entrees! Oh yea she says and runs off. After some discussion we decide that is been well over an hour and we are done. We get up to go, stop at hostess station and request manager. He approaches does not introduce himself and we explain issue, he says sorry and that he will comp meal. Ya think?! We never go our entrees. Then asks who our server was and responds that she is not even new. We told him the entire room was grumbling and he needed to intervene. We left and it will be a very long time if ever before we go there again. read more

How many stars do you give a place where the food is eh but the dessert is out of this world? That is my dilemma with Marks. I've been there twice and both times the barbeque failed to impress me. The barbeque chicken sandwich is essentially just plain chicken with their traditional barbeque poured on top of the chicken. In other words the chicken isn't marinated in the barbeque. The sandwich doesn't have another other toppings like cheese etc. Their fries are well seasoned but I don't love my sides being limited to fries, coleslaw, and toast. I'm kind of partial to places like Famous Daves where I can get mashed potatos or mac and cheese with my meal. So, I might have given them 2-3 star. However, this time I went with my boyfriend who ordered us a slice of buttermilk pie for $1.99 at the end of our meal. Not being a southerner I'd never eaten buttermilk pie before and it was among the best things I have ever eaten. That pie changed my mind from "I'll probably never eat here again" to "I'll be back for another slice of this pie". Just thinking about it makes me wonder if I could go in and order a whole pie to go.... read more

Had an excellent dinner there last night. Started with the onion straws which were awesome. For the main course I had the pulled pork sandwich - country sized - which is a larger portion and the potato salad. The bread on the sandwich was warm and soft. The pork itself was cooked perfectly and was warm all the way through. Very tender and moist. My meal was excellent. The only recommendation would be for them not to add bbq sauce in the kitchen and allow the customer to choose their own sauce and quantity thereof at the table. I called an order in to pick up after work, nothing crazy or overly complicated. I asked for it to be ready at 5pm and was assured it would be done. I arrived around 5:10 (traffic was awful) to find that not only was it not ready, no one in the place knew who even took my order or recognized the handwriting and it was never put in. The manager ended up comping my meal even though I was prepared to pay and just be late with dinner. I'll return because I like the food but I probably won't order over the phone again. read more

I have eaten and Mark's Feed Store many times and have always had great service. However this past Saturday the service was not so good and the food wasn't that great either. We arrived at about 6:30 on a Saturday night and were immediately seated. It was about 7-9 minutes before our sever came over and took our drink order and food order since we had time to decide. Never once did she apologize for the delay and the guy that appeared to be the manager was about ten feat away holding up the counter. He never made an effort to get us service. Our food came in about ten minutes and at least mine was hot and fresh. My wife order was cold and undercooked. Like I said i have eaten at marks many time with great service and I probably will return, but this last visit may make me try someplace else next time. read more
