I used to really like this place but it's going down hill. Twice now we have ordered menu items only later to find that they are "all out." They serve iced tea without lemon, and don't even provide a spoon to add sugar (I asked for a spoon but after it was apparent one was nit forthcoming I used my knife.). What I got was hand crafted 1/2 lb burgers, chef inspired meals and drinks that show they allow their bar team to be creative. We chose Marlow's for our Wednesday night get together specifically because they offered "Ladies Night" food and drink specials. They change their offerings every Wednesday and are about to change their menu in the next few weeks. Tonight's "ladies night" specials were 2 small plates which were spaghetti squash carbonara and shrimp / crab fritters. I was leary of both until our server described the carbonara. The spaghetti squash was sautéed (with butter?), had bacon and served with an egg on top. When the egg is cut up and mixed with the noodles.....OMG, this was such a nice surprise. It was good and filling. The shrimp / crab fritters were golf ball size, and the 4 of them were served with a reddish / mayoish sauce that complemented it well. Looking over the menu I couldn't decide what I wanted! A crafted black bean burger? A salad? A chef inspired meal? I went with the shrimp & grits. Yummy peeled shrimp is served with 2 grit cakes and served with a roumalade type sauce. It was a lot of food. The drink special this ladies night was a Smore's marshmallow brownie martini. It came with a brown sugar rimmed glass, a thin brownie "raft" that had a little bunch of marshmallows melted just right on top. Tonight at $5, I really wanted more than 2. I never wanted to visit Marlow's but I'll now that I know it's not hum drum I'll be looking forward to visiting again. read more

I really like this place. Every time I have eaten here I haven't been disappointed. They have a great drink selection. Their red sangria is sweet but super good, and you can never go wrong with just a glass of wine as well. I've had their Shrimp and Grits, Fish Tacos, and their Prime Rib French Dip. I think my favorite would be their Shrimp and Grits, which were very rich but tasted amazing. If I'm not in the mood for something as heavy as shrimp and Grits, I would order the Prime Rib French Dip although this dish is also very filling. This sandwich gives you plenty of meat, and has a good amount of swiss cheese too, and the dipping sauce is to die for. Don't eat this unless you get the sauce too! My boyfriend really liked the black and blue burger he ordered, he said the bacon was nice and crispy. The staff is always very attentive and make sure everything is tasting okay, as well as your glass remains full. This is one of my favorite places to eat in the waterford area. read more

I like this place. Although I tend not to patronize chain restaurants, I like the food and ambience (although a bit too dark for an afternoon meal.) I started with the Ahi Poke Tuna (loved it). Very well seasoned and fresh. We also ordered the Tavern Salad with Chicken (my husband really enjoyed it) and 2 burgers (lettuce wrap and Tavern burger) all delicious and well prepared. Went here for the 1st time and although the service and the manager were great, my food was not as expected. That said, if I came back I would never order the bistro filet again. When you see/hear the word "filet" and the $21 price tag, you are expecting a full piece of meat. What I received is what I would call medallions. Little flat pieces of steak cut up like for a child and I ordered medium rare and this beef was mostly medium. My son and husband both ordered filet medallions and I heard my husband explaining to my son what medallions of beef were and he said "small pieces that you won't even need to cut up". So I wasn't the only one who had this impression of what beef medallions were. Well, their 8 oz of "filet medallions" was essentially two WHOLE 4 ounce pieces of beef fillets cooked perfectly medium rare. This made me even more disappointed. That is what I was expecting my bistro fillet to be, but in a 6 oz size. I will say the twice cooked potatoes were good but for the price, they could include a small vegetable and not have it be an extra add on item. read more

Marlow's really surprised me. I went to the I-Drive location once, and it didn't really impress me. apparently I ordered the wrong thing! I ordered the chicken salad sandwich which turned out to be better than I expected. Normally I don't care for lemon/basil flavors, but it works here. WARNING: the menu doesn't say it, but the chicken salad sandwich has melted cheese on it. Luckily our server mentioned it. But I don't think the servers should be responsible to communicate that. Just list it on the menu, Marlow's... Anyhoo, you know I'm the Fry Snob, and I think the fries are great. They seem to be made from fresh-cut fries. I'll always be tempted to get them. Overall, we had a great lunch here. Prices are a little high to make it a regular spot for us, particularly for the "standard" items that you can get almost everywhere like the French Dip. It was very good, but it's also the second most expensive French Dip I've ever eaten, and that puts a damper on things. The Shrimp and Crab "Nacho" Plate is an interesting take on nachos. You may only get 8 nachos, but each one is carefully loaded up with all of the ingredients, so it ends up being a better appetizer than standard nachos would. It's a little smaller than I expected inside, and that translates to a likely wait when you arrive, especially when it's too hot to sit outside. All things considered, it was a great meal and Marlow's will be one of those places that we return to occasionally when we feel like splurging a little. read more

WOW. The service was great, and so was the food. I ordered a burger and it was cooked perfectly. The fries were a little salty for my liking, but I like bland flavors so others may prefer that. I also tried a side of asparagus (you know, to cancel out the fried food and burger grease), and it was also pretty good, particularly because it wasn't just a standard boiled or steamed vegetable; these were grilled. Great addition: They threw in an appetizer of loaded potato chips that were made in house, on the house because it was my first time there. Bacon, blue cheese, and chopped tomato goodness! Service needs improvement from top down. This is my first and last time dining here. Story time: I went with a few friends for Sunday brunch around 2 PM. First sign that the visit would be a bad one. We walked inside and we're not sure if a host would seat us or if we should seat ourselves because no one was there to greet us and there was no signage. We decided to wait and someone did come seat us. Not a big deal, must have been busy seating another party. Now let's get to the fun part. Our server must have been inexperienced because we were left alone for too long between each visit to our table and he missed key opportunities to deliver an experience that would meet the expectations of any restaurant patron. Let's list a few things shall we? No straws for drinks like water and soda, no refills unless requested and no steak knife in advance of steak entree. Another friend showed up late and was never greeted by our server or asked if he would like anything. Late friend ended up having to order his drink from the bar. I have this theory that he may have been trying to avoid us because we ordered "bottomless" mimosas and he had to tell us we hit the bottom at 2:30 when we were about 2 mimosas in. Nice bait and switch tactic we thought. Our server reassured us they sent someone to buy more champagne. Finally, the third glass arrives but only for one person when clearly two were needed. We had to request one more. In hindsight, it was not worth the third glass because they must have changed the recipe to water, orange juice and ice. At least the OJ was fresh pressed. Time to say something because this is pure evil. Dear sir, is it really fair that we ordered bottomless mimosas only to be told you've run out? By the way, we need another soda refill. Our server's response was something along these lines, "you are getting a deal at $15 for the three glasses but if you want I can take that off and charge you the $7 for each glass." He's kidding right? I pulled the "it's not the money but the principle" card and if you knew you were running low why not tell us ahead of time or offer a different drink. At this point, he got his manager involved. Does it get better? Only slightly but definitely more amusing. The manager comes over and tells us what happened. Excuse 1: Brunch was busy today. Excuse 2: the gift card with free bottle promo tapped us out. Excuse 3: We ended up serving you the good stuff so you got a good deal. He agrees to give us one of the two bottomless mimosa orders free of charge. Does it end there? Absolutely not. We finally tell our server we are ready for the checks. Let's make sure these complainers never come back and charge them for the two bottomless mimosa orders any way. Manager had to fix it and said it was because the bills weren't split properly at first. What a service nightmare. Oh and my steak was cold. read more

Excellent service and absolutely outstanding food. This spot is a family favorite, especially for my daughter. Very flavorful, and creative recipes in a upscale-casual atmosphere. We stated with the shrimp and crab nachos, which are more like miniature pizzas haha. They are very delicious. We also ordered the firecracker shrimp which was very good and really hit the spot. For entrees, we had the shrimp and grits, and pan seared scallops, and the creme brûlée for desert. Absolutely delish. A perfect finale to an amazing meal, and our server Brandy was awesome. I excitedly watched Marlow's Tavern go up in Waterford Lakes and finally got a chance to visit for a late lunch with friends. I know for sure I'll be back. Kendra G. made my first experience at Marlow's wonderful. She was pleasant and helpful in explaining the menu. My friends ordered shrimp and crab nachos to start. I don't eat seafood - but they looked amazing. I ordered the grilled chicken panini stack and upgraded to a side of the truffle fries at Kendra's suggestion. It was worth the extra money! The truffle oil and parmesan cheese really made the fries something special. The sandwich itself was good. Flavorful chicken, crispy pressed Cuban bread, delicious basil aoli. The fried green tomato on the sandwich was a little strange and got soggy so I pulled it off and kept it moving. As great as the truffle fries were, I passed half of them over to my friend so I would have room for dessert. They have crème brulee on the menu. Crème brulee is my kryptonite. I bake all sorts of things but leave this dessert to the experts. Marlow's Tavern did not disappoint. The top was crunchy and wonderful, and you could see the fresh vanilla bean specks in the custard. We were greeted at the door by their manager. He was amazing! My boyfriend even said "what great management" the moment we sat at our table. He engaged us in conversation and was one of those individuals whose happiness is contagious! I have never been to a restaurant with such an amazing manager. I ordered the same thing I ordered this past weekend, the cheeseburger. Once again... AMAZING! This time we came in time for happy hour. I got two glasses of Chardonnay ($4 each), and Tyler got a yuengling for $3. The bartender and our server were both very attentive and friendly. This is my new favorite spot in the waterford area! I had the brunch here at Marlow's and while I'm not in love with the dinner menu, the brunch menu is one of the best I've ever had. Today I sampled the lemon ricotta pancakes and eggs and bacon and they were stunningly phenomenal. We had a party of 12 and the entire group's meal looked and smelled amazing and there was not a single complaint heard above the moaning, gasping, and praising of the food from my party. The food was very competitively-priced. I've had similar meals at other restaurants for almost double the price. Another thing that sat very well with me was that the manager (I want to say Dave? Or maybe Jason? I have no clue, sorry) was extremely friendly, courteous, and paid close attention to us. I always love when managers go out of their way to check up on customers. It goes without saying: I have found my local brunch spot. Usually, I have to travel to Winter Park or close to downtown Orlando or maybe even Oviedo for awesome brunch. I really, really liked my burger! It was cooked perfectly, the Gorgonzola was just right, the bacon was solid - a nice, juicy, delicious burger. I wasn't too much a fan of the burger's bread simply because it didn't let the burger's flavors explode to their potential. But still, delicious. Fried okra was a bit salty but still pretty darn good! Service was absolutely phenomenal. Our server, Kendra G, was extremely friendly, quick, attentive, and professional.
