This is a cozy spot that makes you feel like you've walked into another world. Low tables with poufs and cushioned sofas, rich wall hangings, and a tent-like ceiling, hung with lanterns; all with up-beat Arabic music playing. I love Moroccan food, and don't get to enjoy it very frequently. I thought the flavors here were generally excellent and similar to other places I've been. They seem to try to bring a "traditional" feeling to the meal, bringing out a ceremonial fountain of warm water to rinse your fingers, which you dry on your giant cloth napkin. And silverware ("a fork") is only available on request - to be honest, I'm not sure how you'd eat most of the food without any! There were several times during the meal that I was longing for a spoon. Maybe this is why all those YouTube EDC videos include a titanium spork? We accompanied the meal with a couple glasses of the Moroccan rose wine they have by the glass, and it paired pretty well with the meal. The meal started with a cup of lentil soup, which wasn't quite as good as Petra Bistro's a few blocks away, but still quite good. This was followed rapidly by a giant shared salad which had some sort of vegetable puree on it that I couldn't identify - but will return many times to see if I can guess what it is. Soooo good. Then the bread service came, a thick focaccia-like bread, which came in handy later as a second utensil. Next, arrived the b'stilla, again, a single enormous plate, to be shared by the table. This is a large puff pastry filled with seasoned ground meat (chicken, I think?) and topped with powdered sugar. We stuffed ourselves on this, probably more than we should have, and still brought almost a third of it home with us (and we'll see if I can actually wait until tomorrow to eat the rest!). At this point, we realized that we'd ordered a pair of entrees to share! They arrived, a plate of chicken, honey, and prunes; and the chicken couscous. The chicken, honey, and prunes was a plate of three chicken thighs, tender to the point of falling apart, in an amazing light honey sauce. There was a single prune on the plate, which seemed more like a garnish, than an honest part of the dish. The flavors were fantastic, and again, about a third of it came home with me. The chicken couscous was amazing. The couscous was clearly cooked in a rich broth, because it was super moist and flavorful. I only had one or two bites of the chicken (which was good), but the real star of the dish was the pile of vegetables, which were well seasoned, and amazingly cooked. Most of this dish came home with me, too. Just when we thought we couldn't eat any more, dessert arrived, a milk pudding with shaved ginger. Preceding dessert, one of the staff came by and hosed us down with some sort of orange scented water, which wasn't particularly appealing. But tradition, I guess? And finally, two pipingly hot glasses of a sweet mint tea were theatrically poured as a sort of aperitif. I didn't care for it at first sip, but the more I drank, the more I began to enjoy it. An interesting way to finish the meal. Course after course of great food. About the only thing we really seemed to miss was the dancing, though perhaps we were too early, or they don't have dancers on Sundays? In any event, I will certainly be back again! read more

My first time trying out Moroccan cuisine! You'll have the option to oder a la carte or get their five-course meal. I decided to go with the latter. *Traditional Lentil Soup Your average lentil soup. Nothing to write home about. *Salad Marrakesh Simple and tasty. Reminded me of salsa. They provided bread on the side that surprisingly tasted good when eaten together. *B'stilla Royale Crispy phyllo dough dusted with powdered sugar with shredded chicken, egg, and almond filling. Apparently some people enjoyed it but it just wasn't for me. The combination between the flavor didn't quite mesh well. Not to mention the filling was somewhat bland. *Tangine of Chicken Lemon and Olives Tasted alright. The flavor was a bit bland. Ended up giving this to a friend *Tangine of Chicken Honey and Apricot Packed with flavor!! Sweet but not too overwhelming. Meat was tender as well! *Rice Pudding The highlight of the entire course. Not too sweet and light! If you're lucky enough, you'll encounter some belly dancers performing on the spot. They also have a hookah lounge exclusive for those who sign up for membership. Dinning at Marrakesh is a special experience! From the moment you enter the restaurant it feels like you were teleported to Morocco. The Royal Feast is a 5 course meal with multiple authentic options as the main entree. Although the many lamb dishes are popular, our favorites were Salmon and the Chicken Brochette, both healthy choices and cooked to perfection. Aziz was super friendly and helpful. My wife and I were hoping to see the dazzling dance show; however I was disappointed to learn that the show is only on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. A while ago a group of us went out for a friend's birthday. Not only were the portions FAR too small for the group of 9 that we had, but I was unable to eat with my hands (no utensils) due to a medical issue. When I declined to eat, they insisted on charging me anyway, even though they clearly didn't cook enough food for me. The whole hand cleansing this is a joke, pouring lukewarm water on your hands without soap or sanitizer or anything. Then everyone is supposed to shove their paws into the slop on the tray and eat? Definitely my top two or three unique dining experiences ever. From the outside I was a bit concerned... No windows whatsoever? But inside it reminded me of Disney World in that we were completely transferred to a new world, belly dancers and all. Eat with your hands while reclining on couches. This place is amazing!!! Such a unique experience. Came here last Sunday and I'm so glad we did. We made reservations for right when they open and they let us choose where we wanted to sit. I like the option of being able to sit on the couch or even on the ground. We chose the ground so that way we could have the full Moroccan experience. Love that this place has vegetarian options. we did the five course meal and the fact that you guys only charge 21 a person is amazing for how much food you get. I love everything that we got. my only disappointment was I heard that you guys have belly dancers and they only come out when it's a busy and although I understand that, if I would have known I would have made my reservation for later in the day because I really wanted to see the belly dancers. It's a lot of food- soup, salad, bread, entree, dessert and mint tea. I enjoyed the bread and the mint teas most. I had the spicy lamb, which was not spicy at all, but was very tender. Here are my candid thoughts: it was just ok. Everything- the food, the ambiance was just meh. Nothing exceptional. I will give a shout out to our server, Aziz, who worked really hard. Wow. This place was incredible. Everything from the service, to the food, to the decor, to the entertainment - five stars all the way. The hospitality we were met with was unmatched. I loved all the traditional elements that were incorporated into the meal, like cleansing with rose water. However, the best part was the FOOD. We got a five course meal for about $25 per person plus tax and tip and were absolutely stuffed and satisfied. It's definitely fun for a new kind of meal. Menu is fairly reasonable considering the course meals come with soup, salad, appetizer, dessert and tea. I would encourage people to try it out, things they do well are: atmosphere, music, food diversity, they have about five vegetarian options, and tons of other choices. Customer service is pretty good, they have lots of seating, so although they take reservations, I wouldn't call it necessary. Specially if it's during just a weekday night. Do note that you will either need street parking or pay for parking, also, the other downside about this place is that they have a little bit of odd hours. Also note that if you're bringing anyone here who might have a hard time getting up and down from lower seats/sitting on not the typical furniture, reconsider. This was my fourth and I'm quite sure last visit to this restaurant. The atmosphere is great, eating with my hands is fun, the hand-washing part is neat, and I love having several courses. The service has varied from good to kind of lacking. I've been as a 2 person group, a 6 person group, and twice as a ~15 person group. The best times have been with the 6+ because that way we get to try a variety of different main entrees (instead of just two). Seeing the belly dancer is fun, but you have to make sure you're there on the days she performs (Wed-Sun) AND be there when she actually performs (today we got there at 8:30pm and apparently she danced at 7:30pm). Oh, and don't forget to make reservations (especially for a big group)! As for the food... well... I enjoy the salad, the lentil soup, the savory powdered sugar & ground meat item, the mint tea, and sometimes the dessert (tonight's milk pudding was quite good but the chopped apple last time was odd). The main courses, however... I don't know. The first two times I was very impressed, but now I think the food is just okay and I feel a bit bad when the bill comes. It just seems like there are so many more great places in Seattle where I can get better quality for the same price (or less) and walk away feeling perfectly satiated instead of feeling like I over-ate because all that food was in front of me and because I enjoy eating with my hands. Marrakesh was a super fun and unique dining experience. When we walked in, what seemed like an ordinary brick building from the outside quickly transformed into a Morroccan-themed tent, lined with ornate textiles and padded with colorful rugs. We sat at a round table, very low to the ground, and were whisked away to Morocco from there. We weren't quite sure what to expect at first, but soon learned that all of their guests receive a full, 5-course meal. They first washed our hands traditionally, over a silver tub, then gave us the first course of a warm, spiced lentil soup. Then, they gave us house-made bread, which was soft with some spices sprinkled in, to eat with our second course, a tangy eggplant salad. Then, they gave us what was probably my favorite course, a b'stilla. This is a traditional Moroccan appetizer of phyllo dough, stuffed with chicken and egg, and topped with powdered sugar. It sounds like a weird combination, but it is truly spectacular. Then, they brought us our entrees. We tried the Chicken Tagine with Honey and Prunes, Marrakesh Chicken Couscous, Breka Vegetarian, and Catch of the Day in creamy mushroom sauce. All the food was delicious and even though it left us stuffed, we managed to find some room for the fifth and final course: dessert, which was mint tea and rice pudding. Overall, we had a great experience at Marrakesh. There was only one server, but he was very friendly and attentive and amazingly, was able to deliver the full 5-course experience to all the tables with ease. It is on the pricier side, as each entree costs around $30, however, I believe it is well worth it because this price covers all 5 courses, which is actually quite a deal for the amount of food you get. If you want a very different and lively dinner experience, Marrakesh is the way to go! read more

Great date with mom today! Love the exotic decor, music, and super friendly staff. My 3rd or 4th time here. I did call in a few days prior to see what time the belly dancer starts on Fridays, they said at 7pm. Came in just before 7, but the dancer didn't start till 8:20pm. I'm glad we stayed a little late longer so my mom got to see belly dancing for the first time. Food is always pretty consistent, but I'd like just a bit more salt to it. Everything arrived promptly one after the other, and the waiters/waitresses are very accommodating and personable. Will be back here again to try other dishes. read more

If you're considering Moroccan food/experience, please, just go somewhere else. We decided to order from the a la carte menu. Regardless, we were told that the chicken Tagine came WITHOUT couscous (and there were no potatoes in the dish). It was NOT served in a tagine pot and was mediocre at best. We then requested a baklava pastry and it was rancid with a hard bottom! I couldn't believe it. When I told the server that this baklava was not fresh (which they claim), I was told that it was made yesterday. Now, it takes baklava at least one week to become rancid, so who knows how long they had this baklava sitting in their restaurant-ughh. I couldn't believe they served it to us...and even more shocking was that they actually made us pay for it. Finally, we were told the belly dancing (which is suppose to be on Friday and Saturday) would be starting at 7pm, (we were advised on phone to make a 6pm reservation-we settled on 6:15pm)but by 7:30, still no belly dancer. When we started to get up from this disaster dinner, I was met with a roller carpet cleaner at my feet. We left without even seeing the belly dancer. Unbelievable. Just don't bother. read more

I have dietary restrictions (vegetarian) and when I thought my meal had meat in it, I called Ibrahim over to clarify if it was indeed meat or not. Immediately he got very upset and raised his voice to repeatedly say, "you want to doubt me?! You are doubtful of me?! Your group has something against me!" He made everyone very uncomfortable and we asked for our main courses to no longer be brought out. We paid for the food we "ate" and left. The waiter brought water tray system to wash our hands before our meal because you are going to be eating with your hands throughout. The waiter served us our lentil soup and cucumber salad. The lentil soup was great, slurped every last bit! The cucumber salad was great and paired well with the bread they give. I ordered the Couscous Marrakesh which I chose to come with lamb. The lamb was very tender! (this did come with silverware). My husband ordered tangine chicken, that meal came with just chicken no other sides, which is not what we are used to. Luckily with the previous sides, this was not too big of a deal to him. The mint tea at the end was delicious! I need to buy some of it. The ambiance is great and almost feels like you are not in Seattle. They have it set up to look like a tent and they had a belly dancer on the night we were there. They also set up a tray of teas and the waiter serves them all the with the kettle really high up, neat to watch. A great place to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city life. One thing they can work on is helping you throughout the meal. I didn't realize at first that we are encouraged to eat the traditional way, with your hands! That is why nothing was served with silverware to begin with. But once our waiter informed us, we were able to enjoy our experience. read more

I ordered the couscous with lamb, a dish full of many palette quenching flavors, quick to serve and light to the tummy. I did not have the privilege of ordering the 5 Course Meal they had advertised for dinner, certainly at a reasonable price. This place is definitely a hidden gyme! The simple menu includes app, soup, salad and dessert with every main dish. It is clear that the sides are a money maker. Pre prepared salad was watery from being made too far ahead, pastry was okay but again lacked flavor and, soup - okay and dessert, well....just tell them you don't need the sugar. The orange blossom water they bring to wash your hands seems great at first but it is way too strong and sticks with you all evening. Our group of four opted for the Royale Feast Dinner ($23.50/person) which truly was a FEAST. Before we were served the first course, however, our gregarious waiter rinsed our hands with water over a large pot (you will be using them to eat, after all!). We were then given individual bowls of lentil soup and a large plate of "Salads Marrakesh," served with fresh bread for dipping and scooping. Then came the B'stilla Royale, phyllo pastry stuffed with ground chicken and spices and dusted with powdered sugar (!!). Be warned, all of this could easily fill you up, so make sure to save room for the main event! For our entrees, we had the Tangine of Chicken Lemon and Olives, Tangine of Chicken Honey and Prunes, Tangine of Lamb with Eggplant, Tangine of Chicken with Apricots and CousCous T'Faya. We kept trying to determine which was the favorite, but I couldn't decide. All of it was delicious! You can use a fork if you want, but the meat was all tender enough to be easily pulled off with your fingers. So good! After we finished stuffing ourselves, our waiter came by to rinse our hands again, and we were then served hot mint tea and individual servings of Moroccan milk pudding topped with toasted coconut. It was a not-too-sweet ending to a very memorable meal! I really don't understand how people can complain about this place. The service, ambiance, food and value was all on point. The prior disconnect was with Door Dash, not the restaurant. 6/8/20 They've cancelled my delivery order three times with no explanation. I was looking forward to a good meal but the hassle is not worth it. Please, don't accept an order within business hours and then cancel for no reason - three times. I'm going elsewhere. read more
