I booked this based on reviews for our first night in NYC before a show. Gave 2 hours before the show so should be fine. [[HIGHLIGHT]]First off the decor is awesome. I love the mirrors and the menus written on them.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The greeters were GREAT. Very welcoming and pleasant. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We were seated quickly at a corner table with a great view of the restaurant.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our waitress was cordial, kinda business like. It took a while to get drinks ordered. They took our orders - I got the Branzino and my wife ordered the price fixe. The French onion soup she got as her first course was delightful! So rich, beautifully done!!! That was the high point. The branzino when they brought it out they spilled a decent bit of the sauce on my wife's foot (she was in sandals). No real apology and no one offered to give her anything to clean up. The branzino was ok. Nothing to write home about. My wife got the chicken - WAAAAAY over-fried. Dry as a bone. Mashed potatoes and hericots verts on her dish were delish! Profiteroles for dessert were good as well. It was an ok meal but not worth the price. Probably would not return.

This place is amaz-balls. The staff is friendly, helpful, and fast. This place is a must try if you haven't. The food was some of the best I have ever tasted. It is kind of loud, but you can still here the people at your table without being able to understand the tables around you. Nothing on this menu is skippable.

What a night! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Incredible festive atmosphere to celebrate New Year's Eve.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The restaurant offered an all-inclusive $120 Prix Fixe, which was essentially 4 courses and a sparkling wine send off. Our server (Ryan or Brian?) was amazing and very attentive. As was the entire team on this increasingly busy night. We drank Taittinger Prestige Champagne and Mullan Road Cabernet, but I enjoyed perusing their very French wine list. I enjoyed the sea scallops which were served in a leek fondue with black truffle jus. Very savory and paired well with Champagne. They offered a "mid" course which was the Winter Truffle Risoto. I enjoyed how the pine nuts gave it some extra texture. Atlantic Halibut was my main and it was perfectly tender and delicious with the potatoes and capers. For dessert, the New York Cheesecake basically melted off of my fork, it was so good. Those were my selections, but it was honestly hard to choose! Looking forward to returning on another night.

Came here for Birthday dinner...[[HIGHLIGHT]]Nice atmosphere...[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]got a booth....ordered escargot one of the best i have had....Bread and butter complimentart was excellent...ordered the steak frites...the steak and fries were cooked perfectly...comes with complimentary chocolates...Great service as well...

The decor is just lovely! Low lights with red and gold tones, beautiful and relaxing. It is best to have a reservation for dinner! The bar is open seating and that's where we sat at a very small table. The escargot was delicious in the traditional hot dish with oil, garlic, and herbs. They don't serve them in the shells so I was a little disappointed. The octopus was okay with only a little chewiness to it. The wine list has all the options needed to go with dinner including a couple of Chablis. Our waiter was not in his element. We asked for a dry white wine and he brought us glasses of wine but we had to stop him and ask what it was as he walked away. He delivered our plates but never expanded on them, it was more drip off and walk away. The support staff with water was also slow on initial filling and refills as the water glasses got low.

Started with a makers mark manhattan and my lovely bride of 50 years has the lemon drop martini. Both wonderful and perfectly prepared by jJimmy the bartender. We sat at the bar and Jimmy made some great recommendations. He has been at Marseille for 23 years! Go Jimmy! They presented a sour dough roll rosemary /oil Very nice. Onto our escargot app which was terrific. Right combo of butter / garlic. I had the steak frites with fries. Fries fantastic and steak at medium rare was such an awesome experience. MK had short ribs also very good. Ok this place environment is dated but offerings are terrific! May not be pretty but a great place and have to tell you this is a place to go ! Also have extended restaurant week in summer. Crème brûlée and bubbles for desert! Complements of the house!

I picked this restaurant because I had wanted to bring mom somewhere special for restaurant week and the menu selection just sounded so delicious and high class. I definitely knew that I would be needing to order escargots because when in a French restaurant ~ most definitely did not disappoint!!! Herbaceous and lemony and paired with the baguette. Say no more! The apps to entrée to dessert were dishes I normally wouldn't make at home and the flavors were so intoxicating. Creamy , buttery, luscious, and for the desserts, not too sweet. But what was the sweetest and the cherry on top was our waitress, Sara She was so attentive, sweet and made the whole dinner experience so comforting, comfortable and so relaxing. If you get the opportunity to have her as your waitress, consider yourself BLESSED! Come check out Marseille! The atmosphere is sophisticated, charming and so inviting. You have to come try their food! I will be back even if it's not restaurant week!!

A Love Letter to Brunch (with a French Accent) Marseille is basically a teleportation device to France... just with more honking and fewer berets. Nestled in the hustle of Hell's Kitchen, this place is a little slice of Paris without the jet lag or the judgmental pigeons. I've popped into Marseille several times for a martini (okay, more than several), but a few Sundays ago, my fiancé and I decided to brunch like the classy adults we pretend to be--and wow, did we level up. Let's start with the service: impeccable. Our waitress was so attentive, I briefly wondered if she could read minds. She helped us make decisions like a brunch therapist. (We're both hopelessly indecisive--choosing between two dishes feels like choosing a favorite child.) We kicked things off with two dirty martinis because brunch without cocktails is just a sad late breakfast. Pro tip: if you like your martinis dirty enough to require a PG-13 rating, this is your spot. Appetizer: Escargots en Persillade -- Yes, I ate snails. And yes, I'd do it again. These little guys were swimming in a garlicky, herby butter situation that made me want to dip everything on the table in it--napkin included. Main Courses: I had the Croissant Florentine -- A buttery, flaky croissant topped with perfectly poached eggs and hollandaise so good it could start a cult. My fiancé had the Roast Turkey Baguette -- He said the bacon was "next level" and the sandwich "hit him right in the soul" (his words, not mine--but I agree). We split a side of fries that were crispy, golden, and seasoned by what I assume is a fry wizard in the back. Seriously, order the fries. You'll want to write them a thank-you note. The vibe? Very French bistro meets NYC buzz. It's always busy, so do yourself a favor and make a reservation unless you enjoy waiting while hangry. All in all, 10/10 would snail again. Can't wait to come back and eat my way through the rest of the menu. Merci, Marseille--brunch was magnifique!

STEAK FRITES
Gerardo E.

Service was a 10/10 - the gentleman attending us did a fantastic job welcoming us despite my partner and I only being there for the steak frites deal. They served complimentary bread and butter that was delicious and herb-y. The steak was a great temperature. The place was also decorated nicely for a nice date night out

When I am in NYC for more than a day Marseille is a must. [[HIGHLIGHT]]While the restaurant is spacious, it is the cozy bar that is perfectly delightful.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] On my most recent visit Matt was the well groomed old style bar keep that gave me the specials and prepared one of the house libations. The food is amazing and the duck pate is a must. NYC is filled with great dinning and Marseille after 22 years is STILL one of them.

Dinner at Marseille's French Restaurant was absolutely fantastic from start to finish. We were warmly greeted by a friendly waiter from Louisiana who immediately made us feel welcome. We kicked things off with the happy hour $1.50 oysters--fresh, briny, and utterly sumptuous. Next came the kale, goat cheese and squash salad, which tasted incredibly fresh with a perfectly balanced dressing. Just when we thought it couldn't get better, dessert stole the show: the crème brûlée was rich and silky with real vanilla bean, and the New York-style cheesecake was just as delicious. A truly memorable dining experience all around.

How covered and/or heated is the outdoor dining now in winter? Is it fully enclosed? Thanks!

Horrible that restaurants do not say if outdoors with heating. I do not go there. i go only to places with outdoor heating. what is wrong with them???

Outside seating is located on the sidewalk or do they have a backyard garden?

Sidewalk

Does the restaurant allow BYOB?

No. It has a full bar.

How quick is the service? Can I get through a meal within an hour?

They are very used to serving the pre-theater crowd. Just tell them when you order that you need to be out by a certain time. You can also request the check at the time you are served.

It was a large and comfortable space. Just surprising that it was somewhat empty for a Friday theater night. A bit of a touristy feel at first, has to do w/ the fact it's in Time Sq and in a hotel, but the food was definitely not touristy. I had the 1605 signature salad and the crab cake entree. The salad was tasty and well constructed, but small on portion size. The crab cake was the best crab cake I ever had, even better than Obrycki's in Baltimore, chock full of crab, not much filler at all, and good blend of spices. My friend had the onion soup, the grilled watermelon salad, and the mac/cheese. The onion soup was decent, good amount of cheese and the bread had still a crunchy edge, but soup base a tiny bit on the salty side. The watermelon salad was pretty on the plate, tasty, but again, small portioned for its price. The mac/cheese was ok; the cheese they used was overly pungent. If they just stuck w/ a nice cheddar, it would have been better. The neighboring table ordered the chicken pot pie and the skirt steak; both looked delicious. I would definitely go back for the crab cake and maybe try the pot pie. The prices are affordable for each item, btwn $14-32. If you just want to order one thing, avoid the salads; they won't be filling. But if you're going to order more than one thing, then it can easily be over $30/person. The restaurant.com certificate definitely helps. They also have a pre-theater prix-fix 3 courses for $25 that seems like a good deal.

The first person filled your drinking glass and brought over some bread. I especially like the foccocia bread with the tomato and olive. The second person was the waiter took your order and recommended dishes. The third person was the restaurant manager who welcomed you to the restaurant. My friend and I were treated like VIP and we enjoyed all the attention but some times it got a bit annoying because just about every 5 minutes, they'd come and ask how everything was. My friend laughed and said we can eat our meal in peace. Haha! 3 stars for the food. We ordered the theater menu special which was 3 course meal for $25. We ordered a House Salad, Skirted Steak with Asparagus and rice, and Gelato. I had better salads at fast food restaurant. It was Mediterranean Mix salad bag you find at super market, throw in some chopped pears. What made this salad special was roasted hazel nuts. The dressing was lemony which really didn't go well. I would recommend a Raspberry dressing to make a bit sweet and tangy. As for the Skirted steak, it was a thin piece of rough beef. It wasn't the best cut and it had a lot of tendons running through the small piece of meat. The sauce that was on top of it tasted like ketchup with onions. It tasted good but I expected more from this fancy restaurant. As for the Gelato, it was Delicious! I got the Mango and my friend got the Lemon. The lemon was way too sour and bitter so we shared mines instead. I had a Restaurant.com gift certificate and on the cert. it requires the server to add on gratuity tip 18.5%. Furthermore, NYC has a SERVICE CHARGE of 18.5% mandatory. Basically, I got a double whammy. The waiter got a 37% tip!! No wonder he was so extra nice! The food is average at best. Friendly service but I wonder if I got screwed at the end. :)

I was not impressed with the response posted here, but about a day later, I got a personal response via email from a their Director of Guest Relations and they resolved my grievance in a way that was more than satisfactory to me. So I have boosted the review to 4 stars, as the food was really excellent, and some of the best we had during French Restaurant Week. In the opinion of my friend and I, it was second only to La Tete D'Or, and we enjoyed Grand Brasserie far more than we did Cafe Boulud. Cafe Boulud left us hungry and poor. Grand Brasserie left us filled and with some money to spare. Given how management reached out via email to resolve the issue I did have, I would whole-heartedly recommend Grand Brasserie to anyone who wants great food in a rather unique setting. ORIGINAL REVIEW (PLEASE NOTE: GB has since changed their policy and desserts are now available a la carte, even if they are featured on a prix fixe menu): Grand Brasserie provides a one of a kind historic setting as a backdrop for outstanding cuisine. Our food was outstanding. However the crux of my problem was around the fact that we attended for French Restaurant Week, which featured it's on separate menu. While the choices were outstanding, you had to choose two courses between appetizer, entrée and dessert. There was a dessert I had wanted to try, the Paris Brest, but ordered an appetizer and entrée figuring we could pay for the dessert separately. However the dessert was not on the regular dessert menu, so our request was refused. Moreover, I had ordered as an appetizer the Veloutè de Champignons which was listed verbatim as: Truffle Mushrooms, Chive Cream, Toasted Brioche. However it failed to mention the soup was served cold. Not being familiar with French cuisine and it being FRW, which should be assumed to attract folks unfamiliar with French cuisine, and introduce them to it, the menu should have indicated that it was served cold. I never would have ordered it had it been listed as served cold. I'd have shared an app with my dining companion and then shared the Paris Brest. Moreover, an idiosyncrasy of a promotional menu and a rigidly programmed POS (Point of Sale... quell your foul mind ) system should not interfere with customer satisfaction at a restaurant that is otherwise outstanding quality.

The Warwick Is a Lovely Hotel. Its Continental Breakfast Is an Embarrassment to Everything the…read moreHotel Stands For. Let me be fair before I am critical: the Warwick Hotel on 54th Street is a genuinely nice property. The rooms are well-appointed, the location is excellent, and the overall experience of staying here has been a pleasant one for our family of four. The staff at the front desk and throughout the hotel have been courteous and professional. Which is precisely why what passes for a continental breakfast at Murals on 54 is so jarring and so difficult to overlook. The contrast between the quality of the hotel itself and the quality of what is being served at breakfast is stark enough to warrant a review entirely on its own. We received complimentary breakfast vouchers for four guests, valued at $24 per person, as a courtesy after our room was not ready upon check-in on Monday afternoon. We appreciated the gesture sincerely and understood that delays happen. What we did not appreciate was discovering what $24 per person actually buys at this restaurant, and what it communicates about how seriously the kitchen takes its responsibility to the guests it serves. The pastries were stale. Not slightly past their peak, but genuinely stale, the kind of stale that suggests they were not baked that morning or perhaps even the morning before. The croissants, which should be the centerpiece of any respectable continental breakfast and a point of quiet pride for a hotel of this standing, were rock hard. A proper croissant should shatter delicately at the first bite, yielding buttery, laminated layers that dissolve almost immediately. These required effort to bite through. Serving hardened croissants at a hotel of this caliber is not a minor oversight. It is a failure of basic quality control that any competent kitchen manager should catch before a single plate leaves the pass. When the most fundamental item on a continental breakfast menu misses this badly, it sets a tone for everything that follows. The "fresh juice" was not fresh. It was bottled, made from concentrate, and tasted exactly like what it was. In a city where fresh-squeezed orange juice is available on virtually every corner and in nearly every diner and café within walking distance, describing bottled concentrate as fresh juice is misleading at best and quietly contemptuous of the guest at worst. The word "fresh" should not appear anywhere near a product that arrived sealed from a distributor. This is not a minor semantic quibble. It is a misrepresentation of what you are being served. The yogurt was Chobani, presented in its original retail cup, placed on a plate and brought to the table. A cup of Chobani yogurt retails for well under $2 at any grocery store in the neighborhood. There was no granola, no fresh fruit, no honey, no accompaniment of any kind, and no presentation whatsoever beyond the cup itself sitting on a plate. It was a grocery store product served in a restaurant setting at a restaurant price, and there is simply no graceful way to characterize that as acceptable for a hotel of the Warwick's reputation. We are genuinely grateful that the vouchers made this meal free for our family, because $96 for four people for what we received would have been indefensible and infuriating in equal measure. The Warwick Hotel clearly holds itself to a high standard across every other dimension of the guest experience. The rooms are lovely, the service throughout the property has been warm and professional, and the hotel carries itself with an elegance that its history warrants. Murals on 54 is not currently living up to any of that. We would sincerely encourage hotel management to revisit the continental breakfast program before more guests are asked to pay $24 a head for stale pastries, bottled concentrate, and supermarket yogurt served without even the pretense of presentation. The hotel is genuinely better than this. The breakfast should be too.

Listing out everything I ate in the order of "will come back just for this" : - Seared Bass w charred onion dashi, mushrooms, bok choy, pickled fresno - Shaken Steak: Cubed angus beef filet, watercress, tomato, pickled red onion - Spicy Papaya Salad (contains lobster) - Chilled Vegetable Summer Rolls: Thai basil. lettuce, radicchio, pickled carrot, cucumber, mango coulis - Buttered Mushrooms (side) - Crispy Pork Spring Rolls - Salt & Pepper Calamari - Roasted Salmon - Seafood Pho
