We love dining at Marseille, when we are planning to go to the theater and have enjoyed many meals here over the last few years. This afternoon we returned for brunch. Anna greeted us warmly and was our delightful server over the next 90 minutes , while we enjoyed a delicious brunch before!

Great experience! The duck confit was excellent and my friends loved the beef bourguignon and chicken cordon bleu. They have a good wine list and their service staff were all very friendly. We sat on their nice little outdoor patio, which was great for people watching.

Delicious pre-theatre meal. The prix fixes option is always great, but we were feeling like sharing a few things and were planning to skip dessert. French onion soup is to die for each has a bowl even though it was a really hot day. Then we split a tuna tartare, good but standard, and mushroom ravioli which was stuffed with flavor and had a creamy sauce.

I booked this based on reviews for our first night in NYC before a show. Gave 2 hours before the show so should be fine. First off the decor is awesome. I love the mirrors and the menus written on them. The greeters were GREAT. Very welcoming and pleasant. We were seated quickly at a corner table with a great view of the restaurant. Our waitress was cordial, kinda business like. It took a while to get drinks ordered. They took our orders - I got the Branzino and my wife ordered the price fixe. The French onion soup she got as her first course was delightful! So rich, beautifully done!!! That was the high point. The branzino when they brought it out they spilled a decent bit of the sauce on my wife's foot (she was in sandals). No real apology and no one offered to give her anything to clean up. The branzino was ok. Nothing to write home about. My wife got the chicken - WAAAAAY over-fried. Dry as a bone. Mashed potatoes and hericots verts on her dish were delish! Profiteroles for dessert were good as well. It was an ok meal but not worth the price. Probably would not return.

Friendliest and nicest hosts and staff I've encountered recently!! We arrived right at our reservation time and were promptly seated for a rare date night. Although I would've preferred to have been seated away from a family with 3 loud, ill-behaved kids, it was still a nice cozy table. On our table we found a nice Happy Anniversary card, which was very sweet! Our server Selma L. greeted us warmly and with a smile. Selma L. was very knowledgeable and helpful with the menu and remained very available and checked in on us often throughout our meal. I knew I wanted the Escargots en Persillade(my favorites!), and we paired them with Mushroom&Ricotta ravioli, and the Branzino. Every dish was perfectly paired with sauces and flavors blended well together. The Branzino skin was perfectly crispy, the potatoes were a little softer than I'd personally like but were still tasty. We made sure to save room for dessert and I'm so glad we did. We tried the chocolate lava cake and the cheesecake and were gifted two glasses of dessert wine and truffles. Everything is made from scratch, in-house. The New York cheesecake stood out ahead of the lava cake but I would order both again. This restaurant is perfectly situated to accommodate you for a pre-show dinner, and offer discounted meals starting at 8pm-close. We'd definitely return to try other menu items, and enjoy another date night, albeit not surrounded by kids!!!

What a night! Incredible festive atmosphere to celebrate New Year's Eve. The restaurant offered an all-inclusive $120 Prix Fixe, which was essentially 4 courses and a sparkling wine send off. Our server (Ryan or Brian?) was amazing and very attentive. As was the entire team on this increasingly busy night. We drank Taittinger Prestige Champagne and Mullan Road Cabernet, but I enjoyed perusing their very French wine list. I enjoyed the sea scallops which were served in a leek fondue with black truffle jus. Very savory and paired well with Champagne. They offered a "mid" course which was the Winter Truffle Risoto. I enjoyed how the pine nuts gave it some extra texture. Atlantic Halibut was my main and it was perfectly tender and delicious with the potatoes and capers. For dessert, the New York Cheesecake basically melted off of my fork, it was so good. Those were my selections, but it was honestly hard to choose! Looking forward to returning on another night.

This place is amaz-balls. The staff is friendly, helpful, and fast. This place is a must try if you haven't. The food was some of the best I have ever tasted. It is kind of loud, but you can still here the people at your table without being able to understand the tables around you. Nothing on this menu is skippable.

This place is around the corner from where i live, and the food is consistently good. Been here a dozen times for their oyster happy hour (most evenings) The non alcoholic drinks are great. service was amazing. our waiter Henry was very attentive and made sure we had a pleasant dining experience.

The decor is just lovely! Low lights with red and gold tones, beautiful and relaxing. It is best to have a reservation for dinner! The bar is open seating and that's where we sat at a very small table. The escargot was delicious in the traditional hot dish with oil, garlic, and herbs. They don't serve them in the shells so I was a little disappointed. The octopus was okay with only a little chewiness to it. The wine list has all the options needed to go with dinner including a couple of Chablis. Our waiter was not in his element. We asked for a dry white wine and he brought us glasses of wine but we had to stop him and ask what it was as he walked away. He delivered our plates but never expanded on them, it was more drip off and walk away. The support staff with water was also slow on initial filling and refills as the water glasses got low.

Started with a makers mark manhattan and my lovely bride of 50 years has the lemon drop martini. Both wonderful and perfectly prepared by jJimmy the bartender. We sat at the bar and Jimmy made some great recommendations. He has been at Marseille for 23 years! Go Jimmy! They presented a sour dough roll rosemary /oil Very nice. Onto our escargot app which was terrific. Right combo of butter / garlic. I had the steak frites with fries. Fries fantastic and steak at medium rare was such an awesome experience. MK had short ribs also very good. Ok this place environment is dated but offerings are terrific! May not be pretty but a great place and have to tell you this is a place to go ! Also have extended restaurant week in summer. Crème brûlée and bubbles for desert! Complements of the house!

I picked this restaurant because I had wanted to bring mom somewhere special for restaurant week and the menu selection just sounded so delicious and high class. I definitely knew that I would be needing to order escargots because when in a French restaurant ~ most definitely did not disappoint!!! Herbaceous and lemony and paired with the baguette. Say no more! The apps to entrée to dessert were dishes I normally wouldn't make at home and the flavors were so intoxicating. Creamy , buttery, luscious, and for the desserts, not too sweet. But what was the sweetest and the cherry on top was our waitress, Sara She was so attentive, sweet and made the whole dinner experience so comforting, comfortable and so relaxing. If you get the opportunity to have her as your waitress, consider yourself BLESSED! Come check out Marseille! The atmosphere is sophisticated, charming and so inviting. You have to come try their food! I will be back even if it's not restaurant week!!

How covered and/or heated is the outdoor dining now in winter? Is it fully enclosed? Thanks!

Horrible that restaurants do not say if outdoors with heating. I do not go there. i go only to places with outdoor heating. what is wrong with them???

Outside seating is located on the sidewalk or do they have a backyard garden?

    Sidewalk

    Does the restaurant allow BYOB?

No. It has a full bar.

How quick is the service? Can I get through a meal within an hour?

They are very used to serving the pre-theater crowd. Just tell them when you order that you need to be out by a certain time. You can also request the check at the time you are served.

Our waiter was super friendly and attentive, with a great sense of humor that made the whole dinner even more enjoyable. We started with Rockefeller oysters, escargot, steak tartare, and an heirloom tomato salad. Everything was delicious and tasted very fresh. I especially recommend the heirloom tomato salad--it was the perfect balance to all the richer appetizers. For my main, I ordered the duck à l'orange. The plating was beautiful, and they even brought some fire into the presentation (the only picture I managed to take ). The duck was cooked to perfection--juicy, tender, and full of flavor. The parsnips were okay, although I wasn't a huge fan of the pairing with the duck. We ended the night with a dessert recommended by our waiter. It was some sort of cloudy foam with candy on top. Honestly, I have no idea what it was, but it was light, not overly sweet, and a great way to wrap up the meal. Definitely recommend this place if you're around Times Square and looking for a cozy French spot that doesn't take itself too seriously!

A classic done very well. And although it's not exactly French, their burger was superb. Served on an oversized grilled English muffin, it had a juicy patty topped with melted Gruyère. And the fries? As good as any you'll find in a bistro in Paris. A terrific discovery and exactly the kind of old-school restaurant that's getting harder and harder to find.

The steak came out rare and the fish was okay, it could have been a bit more seasoned for my personal taste. I traded dishes with my partner because I can't eat rare steak but he can. I went with the $35 lunch special, which gets you an appetizer and an entrée. For my app, the Escargots de Bourgogne- absolutely the star of the meal, I could've eaten a second order. The Crêpe Forestière for my entrée was lovely too, and I washed it all down with a lemonade. Everything was genuinely delicious. My one small gripe: I got charged for two lemonades, which stung a little given that (a) it's lemonade, and (b) the glass was on the petite side to begin with. Minor quibble, though. Other than that, it was a perfect NYC lunch, exactly what I was hoping for.

While the French Onion soup was still a stand-out dish, the painfully slow service detracted. There appeared to be a single waitress working. I didn't notice during my first visit if there were multiple servers, but the first time I did hear the waiter advise another table that the kitchen was behind and there would be a wait for food. (This didn't affect me since on my first visit I only ordered soup.) Same thing happened this time, and there was a significant delay between our soup/salad course and entrees. We were told the kitchen was backed up. this is apparently the norm. For appetizers, the French onion soup was a gold star dish. My friend had the goat cheese salad which she said was also very good. The Chicken Cordon Bleu was good, and a hard-to-find dish in NYC. While eating our entrees, the server never checked on how things were or if we needed anything. Once finished, we sat there for a long time waiting for our plates to be cleared, and finally had to "announce" that we were done and request our dessert (as we had ordered the prix fixe menu). For dessert we ordered the Dame Blanche and Profiteroles. I would recommend neither. The ice cream (in both) was poor quality, crystallized and not creamy. A real shame. In all, the meal too 2.5 hours due to the slow service. The soup remains fantastic. I'm downgrading my review to recommend this spot only for soup and salad and not a full, hours-long meal. For that, it's 5 stars, for a full meal a middling 3.

I have been to Quality Italian before but wanted to try Quality Bistro. Also fabulous…read more Had been to US Open all day so a seat at the bar for drink and light fare was the idea. The food was delicious...but not light. Ha ha! Their green snails with green herbs in the butter were fabulous...served with amazing crusty bread. The French Onion soup also A plus, but very rich with big bites of beef and so much cheese. Tried the Briny Martini w Cornichon. Interesting but too briny for me. Great wine list so I concluded w a California Chardonnay. Wonderful atmosphere and bartenders. The perfect ending to a great NYC day.

The restaurant is…read moreelegant, beautifully designed, and has a lively atmosphere that's perfect for a date night, celebration, or a nice dinner in the city. The service was exceptional. The hostess was welcoming, our waitress was friendly and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu, and the support staff kept everything running smoothly throughout the evening. We took several of our server's recommendations and were happy with every one. What we ordered: * Butter Service Garni * Dressed Big Rock Oysters * Yellowtail Crudo * Filet Mignon with Pommes Purée * Nutella Opéra Cake Everything was beautifully presented and full of flavor. The filet mignon was cooked perfectly, the pommes purée were rich and incredibly smooth, and the Nutella Opéra Cake was the perfect way to end the meal. The only thing I'd mention is that the restrooms are located down a fairly long flight of stairs. If you're wearing heels, have a stroller, or have mobility limitations, it's something to be aware of. Overall, this was a fantastic experience with excellent food, attentive service, and a beautiful atmosphere. I'd gladly return and would recommend Quality Bistro to anyone looking for an upscale French dining experience.
