This location always closes 30-45 minutes early. Every single day, they close early. The workers harass you about their closing time. The checkout line is always long. This store has always been terrible like this, so cannot blame Covid. The people that work at this location are incredibly rude and unhelpful. I often browse or shop at this location. I like this store because it's smaller and never so crowded. The selection could be limited especially for shoes as I hardly find the one I like in my size - around 6. When it comes to "deals", not so much but it's ok I still enjoy browsing and buying when I see what I like and is decently priced. I used to start sneezing as I stay here longer than 10 minutes but that hasn't happened a while. There might be some improvement in cleaning department! One unfortunate thing (and the reason for the stars) is the customer service just as a lot of other reviews also point out. The friendly (and efficient) staffs seem to quit or get relocated quickly. (It's a shame!) I still do see some consistently nice people working here but I've had one of the worst experiences that make me not be surprised by some of the reviews here. One time I was returning a few items, waiting to be helped. There was no line and just one cashier chatting with the other staff. While still talking, more likely gossiping, she gave me a subtle gesture that looked like suggesting that she would help me. I said hi and placed the items on the counter. No greeting, still talking, gesturing that she wants the items closer to her. (She didn't want to move any inches to reach out I guess) No questions about what's wrong with the items or nothing. I simply didn't get acknowledged at all. I still thanked to her and said bye but got completely ignored. My boyfriend was with me and shocked and even got upset with me being so polite to someone like that. Well, it's not my problem, she's the unfortunate one. But yes, what a downer. The other time, I noticed that all staffs were so extremely cheerful and friendly. It didn't take long before I realized that there are some people from corporate office inspecting the store, so funny. Corporate people, if you really want to improve and see the real problems, undercover inspection might be a better idea! However, it is still easy to navigate throughout the store aisle and find the products you like. It just takes some time! Price (5/5) You get really good deals here! For those people who like to shop in peace without being nearly run over by random staff stocking shelves and pretending to be busy, while asking every 5 minutes if you are looking for something even though you already said "I'm fine" - This place is not for you. And the sad part is the line every time I've been is super long, meaning they could be having more people up front helping instead of rummaging around the back areas taking up space where customers could be actually shopping and giving them more money. Even though Marshall's markets itself as a store that sells name brand clothes at a much lower price, a lot of the clothing items are still relatively overpriced in my opinion, especially compared to a store like Ross. Occasionally I will find a "steal" while shopping for clothing, but I usually don't. The kids' toy section, however, is a great place to find cheap toys, especially if you have some kind of a baby shower/ children's birthday party to attend and you don't feel like being super sincere about your gift. Jewelry is more expensive than I'd like, bags and accessories are pretty meh, you can find a decent pair of shoes here, and some home items and decor are sold at attractive prices. Bottom line, this is a place to find discounts on children's toys and women's shoes, and maybe have fun with home decor/kitchen accessories while you're there. Don't expect too much from the other departments, and don't expect thrift-store prices. Also, bathrooms are pretty disgusting. The last time I used it, I believe the toilet paper was on the floor. Ironically, on one recent visit I heard a customer complaining about the same thing to an employee. If you have to go potty, use the one at the Sprout's supermarket next door. The Amazon.com of department stores, according to my boyfriend. I like this Marshall's because they have a great selection of...everything and it's clean! The Marshall's back home (Bay Area) has good stuff but it gets so messy and cluttered that it deters a lot of people from shopping. There are a lot of designer shoes and clothes here and although they're still expensive, they are most definitely discounted. It's never my intention to find brand names when I visit Marshall's but when I find something cute, cheap, and designer, I'm one happy girl. read more

I shop here all the time for specific items. I went in tonight and picked up my items and also picked up a toy for my dog in line. I noticed that I had misplaced/lost my cell phone. I looked all through the store for almost an hour. I asked many associates and cashiers -- they all looked for me but they didn't find anything. They finally got a manager for me and she helped me trace my steps. We also got two cashiers involved who were nice enough to allow me to use their personal phone to help me find my phone. We found it. They were so patient with me and allowed me roam the store FOREVER to find that phone.... I can't thank the staff and management enough. This store is just bearable on a normal day but today it was a one star experience after waiting in a long line the cashier at station one with the bright red braids did not apologize for the wait did not greet me did not make eye contact did not thank me for the purchase the only thing she said was here is your receipt. Pretty great location with lots of great stuff! Baby clothing and toys, kitchen ware, bath accessories and tons of adult clothing. Lines can get long at times however its usually well worth it! I go to marshalls when I do major shopping, like I need a whole set of new clothes, shoes, etc. I can find everything in one place for cheaper. I even enjoy the beauty and housewares selection. I really enjoy this Irvine store, although customer service is sometimes slow but it will not deter me from coming back. Side note: (I am almost reluctant to say this since I want to keep this store to myself) I went to the Costa Mesa one in Metro pointe hoping to exchange something and see more of a selection. Not only were the exact same items a dollar more, but less selection even though its bigger, and the crowds are ridiculous. I know Marshalls is usually crowded, but in Costa mesa, everyone there is in huge families, 4-5 kids per family running around screaming. I love Marshall's and I feel it's always worth the wait but I've been here three times in the past couple weeks and can't believe how incredible slow the line goes and poor service at this specific location. They have only 2 people on the registers with over 20 people in line while 2 people work the door (which seems pointless). Management seems to have very little sense of urgency compared to other Marshall's I've been to. Every time I've been here it's been the same situation. I'm kind of surprised by all the negative feedback regarding them employees here. I'm giving them 5 stars based on the employees. I recently lost my iPhone 6 here. I was frantic. When I got back to work I went onto find my iPhone and saw that it was at Marshalls. I called and they stayed on the phone with me while I set off the alarm signal. They couldn't hear it up front, so they walked down every isle listening for it and they found it. I was so grateful. They didn't have to do that. They could have just said they didn't hear it and hung up. My experience there deserves 10 stars. read more

I bought a pant from another Marshalls then wore that just twice. I broke it on the back side i havent even washed it. I went to this store and they told me i need either receipt or price tag. After i found price tag and this pant they told me they can not return nor exchange it. I told them whole story they have bad quality, bad fabric brand. I needed to visit their store 2 times the girl who tried to help me was so nice but her Manager refused exchange or return this pant. I will NEVER buy anything at Marshall. They have a lot of clothes and other items here like toys and wallets and exercise items. They have a lot of clearance clothing too. The changing rooms are very spacious. The procedure for the checkout here is that an automated announcer will tell you which checkout counter is ready. They asked if I wanted to apply for a credit card while here. Terrible customer service! I tried to go to the fitting room at 9:35 pm, they tell me that the fitting room is closed. The store closes at 10 pm. It's ridculous that fitting room closes 30 minutes early, but that would still be okay if they announced that the fitting room will be closing via intercom or something. Okay so some if the ladies working at the cashier are rude. They speak in their own language which I guess is fine nothing wrong with speaking your language but when you are at work and you do NOT greet the customer then I have an issue with that. I had purchased some items here at Marshalls and Alton and Culver with cash then i was convinced by the sells person to open a credit card for some discount. Later I found out that I was charged twice. I notified the store manager, Marsa and I was told to go back to the store so she can re-found the money... every time I went I was refused by Abby, the store manager to handle this mistake that was made by Marshals. I am 82 years old and I have been going to the store more than 4 times already and every time Abby comes up with some excuses to not help me with this situation. I asked Abby to talk to my daughter over the phone so she can explain what happened but she refuses. She also made fun of my English language and claimed I don't understand you which was a lie because she was informed by other staff about the double charged. This review is for the "service" I received from JOLIN yesterday. I purchased a Samsonite luggage set 2 days ago at the Orange location and forgot my measuring tape. Upon returning home and measuring the larger suitcase I discovered it was 2" over the airline requirement. No big deal, right? Just return it. And hey, why not find a Marshalls close to my job, right? So I stroll in and was immediately impressed with how large and organized the store was. Pressed for time, I couldn't peruse the aisles as I desired but would come back another time. There were 2 cashiers and a line growing. A manager came and opened up another register for the lady ahead of me, then JOLIN, with her nasty attitude came and opened a register and I was next. JOLIN: I can help you. Me: I'd like to return these items. Jolin: *deep sigh* Me: *blank stare* She didn't ask why. She walked away and came back with the security tags to affix to the luggage. No real eye contact or conversation. I had my ID in my hand as I had checked their return policy beforehand. JOLIN: I need the card you paid with. *points to receipt* Me: No you don't because I paid with my debit card. JOLIN: *sigh* You want the cash back? Me: *feeling the blood boiling* Yes. JOLIN: *sigh*face contortions* This is a lot of money, it would be easier for me to put it back on your card. Me: *pointing to their return/refund policy* I paid cash, and want cash back. JOLIN: *smacks lips* I don't have this much in my drawer. Me: *at this point I just gave her THE LOOK* JOLIN: OK OK I'll go get the cash. *marches over to the manager to get the OK, he asks if the tags were still on, indeed they were as I had the items less then 24 hours. How is it OK for a store to take my $192.06 but then give me a problem when I return it? Not having that amount in your drawer is not my problem! Ain't nobody got time to be waiting no 3 to 5 business days for this credit to post to my account when I paid with my debit card. Run me my coin and keep your nasty attitude. She comes back and counts my money on the counter, which is a pet peeve of mine. Put my money in my hand! If I hand you a receipt or my method of payment don't return my shit on the counter. I took my money and proceeded to their luggage department to see what they had, glanced it over and headed for the exit. As I exited I saw JOLIN "helping" another customer with that ugly scowl on her face and shook my head. She should NOT be serving ANY ONE with that attitude. I will NEVER return to this store. Went to return it to this marshall's (it's by my office, convenient, right??) and they would NOT accept the return, said "the name brand of scarf didn't match the ticket". Huh? Really? Why is that MY problem???? Asked to speak to the manager and, yeah, she suggested I take it back to the Marshall's location where I purchased it. Yes, Virginia, there *is* a Marshalls in Irvine, Cali! I'm not a big fan of the chain, but I will admit: I can walk in here and not feel compelled to hold my breath. It's fairly clean and organized, and even has some higher-end brands for a fraction of the retail cost (e.g., those "Buddha" brand denim). An extra bonus is if you don't mind getting surgery to shorten or extend one of your legs to get the right fit. Aside from the clothes, it has everything else imaginable that you probably don't need to be paying full price for, such as gifts for your frenemies and horrible bosses, other people's kids, etc. I had to laugh when I saw what looked to be a serving tray. It looked pretty, and then I flipped it over where the notice read: "Not for food use. May poison food." Did I mention it's a great place to buy gifts for your frenemies? *Evil grin* My tip: READ THE LABEL! It may be good for your health because laughter IS the best medicine. One of my favorite, but not any more for the bad return service. I purchased several clothes at Marshalls. One of the clothes (Amani men's) has the wrong size and I want to return it. However, the return experience is a nightmare. Marshall employee make the wrong label on that clothes (label in their system indicate it is a Ralph Lauren instead of Amani) and refuse to do the return for their own mistake.One of the cashier's manager named Karla took care of me. She has very bad manner, does not try to help me, just told me the label does not match and ask me to take it back and eat the loss by myself (The logic here seems to be: When something wrong happened, it is customers' issue, store has no responsibility? At least should do something to investigate?). I came to the store a second time trying to dispute, still came across Karla. I asked for a video from the store monitor as on the receipt there is exact time when I did the purchase. If they check the video, they will find out. I left my contact/purchase information and Karla told me lawsuit department will check the video and call me back the 2nd day. I did NOT get any phone call from Marshall at all. What is more? Karla tried to blame me who changed the label and try to cheat Marshalls. (Why would I put a Ralph Lauren label on more expensive Amani and ask for less refund??) So I came to Marshall for a 3rd time. Take to another manager regarding the whole story. He just try to stay away from this issue and ask me to come next day looking for Karla or store manager. I feel I have done so much to fix Marshalls' issue. Marshalls is trying to make thing so complex that I will give up. They are almost successful. read more
