We came for brunch with two kids and felt welcomed which was a plus. The ambiance is nice and the service was very fast. The lemon ricotta pancakes, salmon tartare tacos, chopped salad and boa buns were all fantastic, 10/10. My husband ordered the burger and it was far too charred. Very overpowering which was a bummer. I typically do not write bad reviews but this experience was 100% warranted. Last Saturday I went to Martha's for the first time with my significant other. We ordered the chicken sandwich and halfway through eating it we looked down to see that the middle was completely RAW. Fully pink through and through. Understand things happen but this is an extremely dangerous situation. I immediately brought it to the attention of our waitress and manager. Both agreeing that it was well undercooked. The manager offered to make another but after being served that we wanted nothing other than to leave to prepare for the aftermath. And thankfully we did, suffering from food poisoning and throwing up all night. I called back on Sunday because I did not feel it was right paying for anything considering the circumstances. The manager is one of the nastiest people I have ever met. Rude, arrogant, and completely ignorant to the dangers of serving customers raw chicken. After asking for a refund she justified the actions by saying "but it doesn't happen often"... although, it did happen. She proceeded to ask for a doctors note (as if she is our employer) after completely admitting to the view of the chicken being raw. Said she would call us back and never did. Called again and said that she needed to talk to the owner. Again, never heard back from her. After calling once again a few days later I spoke to another manager on duty who was much more understanding and immediately gave me the email to the owner. I explained the situation once again over email and never got a response from the owner as well. After having a past of working in the industry, this restaurant is an absolute disgust and under no circumstances could I ever support such an arrogant and money grab restaurant, who truthfully does not care for the safety of their customers. There are plenty of better restaurants in Hoboken to spend your money so do yourself a favor and skip this one. read more

We were stuck in Newark for the night after a flight issue and figured we'd take the opportunity to have dinner with our daughter. We picked Martha's based on the reviews and the fact that it's more or less halfway between her place and the Newark airport. We're glad we did. The ambience is casual but nice, with a good-looking bar and a comfy vibe. (We were there on a Monday, so it may have been quieter than usual.) We started with some very well-made cocktails; my Barracuda was excellent. We shared the burrata appetizer to go with them, and it was very tasty. Main courses included my crab spaghetti, Mrs. Mike F.'s rigatoni with bolognese, and our daughter's salmon. All were very well-prepared and tasty. We each had a glass of wine, and the bartender gave us tastes of a couple to help with the decision. (The wine list is short but interesting and well curated.) Portions were generous and we all ended up too full to have any dessert, so no comment on those. Service was attentive and the food came out in timely fashion. We had our server, the bartender, and the floor manager all come by our table at different times to help with the orders and check on how things were going. All in all, a very good meal. So, nice room, good cocktails good food, good service. What's not to like? It's close to five stars but I'd want to go back on a busier night before giving them that rating. Came in here cause I had some work to do and was starving. Grabbed some Calamari and a burger and had a couple of cocktails. WOW. Surprisingly enough, the food was awesome and the cocktails were absolutely awesome. Bartender by the name Arif was kickass, I kept saying "make you want" and they made 3 incredible cocktails. Decided to try Martha's while I had family visiting from out of state. The menu is limited which I liked and it made it easy to decide what to eat. The Cauliflower Nuggets were an amazing appetizer. I had the Steak Frites and my mom had the Butternut Squash Soup. Both meals were very good! The pricing is pretty accurate to what a normal restaurant is in Hoboken. Drinks are cheap and delicious. I highly recommend the Espresso Martini. The total was cheaper than I expected for our party of 7. Overall, a really great find in the neighborhood! read more

Came here for the first time for Easter brunch and I wasn't that impressed.. the brunch menu had probably 4 food items on it and they don't serve regular coffee.. just cappuccino or espresso since that's the only coffee machine they have. I was excited to try this restaurant but I was let down since I was expecting more from the brunch menu. read more

We got take out tonight. My husband had the filet mignon cheesesteak with fries which was delicious!! I had the crab pasta and it was amazing!! One of my favorite dinners that I have had in Hoboken!! Can't wait to actual go to the restaurant and eat there. Would highly recommend!! read more

Food was pretty good, but the service was sub par. Sat at bar for dinner, had a few drinks and apps. Ordered a $15 glass of Pinot noir that was served in the smallest white wine glass I've ever seen. Looked like a port glass. Second visit, thought food would improve but somewhat uninspired. Exactly the same decor and set up as La Isla without the fun artwork. Very bland decor. I've heard lunch / brunch are good - may try but there are better options with ambiance nearby. Unfortunate. read more

I hate to pick on Martha's, because it is in my neighborhood, and I really want to succeed, but something is badly amiss , and the crowd I wonder how long they go on with the little patronage that they have. First the bad: When the owners are not there, the service is somewhere between bad and miserable. That flows into food quality too. You can wait at the counter and no one will even acknowledge you. Mind you getting a second drink requires you to request it and then wait some. They randomly close the kitchen early. The food is not that great. It's acceptable, but very average. Sort of what you would expect for Bar food but maybe a little bit less quality. As far as price goes, it feels really really poorly priced for what you get. They have what seems to be a pretty good beer selection, but the bartenders don't seem to know anything in particular about the various selections. FYI- this is not just my view. When I talk to other friends and neighbors, who have gone to Martha's, they come back with essentially the same commentary. Now- The Opportunity: i do not know if I'm the only one thinking this, but this would seem to be the perfect location to re-create some version of Hudson Tavern. What would it take? Well, start by putting some televisions in so that you could sit there and have a drink and watch some sports and get some food and socialize. Maybe some music if the building permits a couple times a week. Sometimes sitting at the bar, it is dead silent. And when we walk past, it seems totally dead inside. You'd also have to do something to the menu, make it a little more basic. I gather they own a sister restaurant in North Bergen, but it seems like re-creating that here has not led to much success. Dropped in on 3/13/24 and discovered an unbelievably top-notch night of jazz. A trio led by Curtis Bundy (with the addition of TC the 3rd on vocals for the closing set) lit the place up. We had a great time. Hopefully it becomes a regular gig. You won't find anything better at the best Manhattan jazz bars. read more

I've been to Martha's several times since it opened and have always had a nice time, albeit do think its a bit overpriced. The food has always been good, they have nice cocktails, and the beer selection is excellent. About two weeks ago I had an experience here that has put me off here permanently. On a Tuesday night my wife and I walked in with our stroller and 6 month old. The place was almost completely empty and the bar was, in fact, completely unoccupied. In our child's infancy we had come here a few times with the stroller and the staff had been more than happy to have us sit at the bar and grab a few drinks and a quick bite. However, this time we were told the stroller would not be allowed in. When I mentioned we had done this several times before we were told that didn't matter and we couldn't do it. I'm no expert but have lived in the area long enough to know if you're going to push families with small children away you're not going to be in business for very long. For what its worth I think this was probably a one off with whomever was on staff that night, but was a dumb enough decision on a very slow night to take my business elsewhere. read more

I have eaten at Martha's a few times and everything we ordered was delicious! All the appetizers were full of flavor, pork belly Bao buns were crispy & chewy with lots of flavor, their Crispy cauliflower is very tasty and the rigatoni alla vodka sauce is the absolute best I've had. read more

Went to Martha's for dinner last night. Definitely try the crispy cauliflower appetizer. So delicious. Mac and cheese from the appetizer menu was more than enough for one person. My friend tried the bolognese spaghetti and wiped the bowl clean. Definitely will go here again. There is a parking lot just across the street. Attentive and very helpful service, nice casual atmosphere as well. read more
