My family had to catch this place when it opened on Wednesday as we were in the BH /Ellsworth area since Sunday. What a delicious and filling breakfast. Server was super friendly and kept the coffee refills coming while we waited. That was probably the only negative with this place but not enough to take away any stars from them. It was clearly noted when we stepped inside that they were short staffed and they were a cash transaction operation only. Food was worth the wait. If you come, definitely get the corn beef hash and go for their home made bread!!! read more

I highly recommend going to Martha's Diner if you're in this area of Maine. We were tourists in the area, because we were visiting Acadia National Park for the weekend and our hotel was nearby. We came in around brunch time on a Saturday morning, and there was a slight wait, but not too long. We just had to wait for them to finish clearing off a table that just left, then we sat down pretty quickly. It's an extremely cute diner space. Beware though, they only accept cash! My friend and I shared the crab benedict and blueberry stuffed french toast, which were both specials that our waitress suggested. Both dishes were probably some of the best benedict and french toast dishes I have ever had! There was actually a lot of crab in the benedict, and the potatoes were so good and well cooked. The blueberry stuffed french toast tasted like an amazing blueberry cake/pie/french toast all in one dish. I was so satisfied with my food. Now I just wish I could come more often! read more

Stopped in to Martha's Diner on our way to Acadia National Park. On one of the hottest days of the year and despite the fact the diner has no AC, it was one of the best breakfasts I have had in a long time. Simple scrambled with bacon but with fresh Maine blueberry pancakes for me and my wife had ham and eggs with the biggest slab of ham I have ever seen on a breakfast plate. Down home, simple honest food and hard working people. We were there for breakfast on a rainy morning and still there was a line out the door. The food was nothing special but that's how we ordered. The menu has a number of extras like Greek food and quiche as well as deserts. The wait staff really hustled to serve everyone even while struggling to seat everyone. The ambience is diner, playing the local 60's and 70's pop and rock. The typical story for 2022- they were short handed but the wait staff made up for it. I would go back in a minute. What a treasure this place is!! We drove by it in our way to Bar Harbor and later on this place was recommended to us by a local as a place to go for a great breakfast. And she wasn't lying. Everything is fresh and delicious. The service is fast and friendly. The restaurant is unique and has a lot of cool vintage decor to admire while you wait for your food. We had: Coffee - it was fresh and hot and tasty Cup of orange juice - fresh and delicious Two egg breakfast with home made rye bread and apple jelly. It came with roasted potatoes, which were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Scrambled eggs with ham and potatoes. They also offer a homemade blueberry jam. Most of the other breakfast joints were closed on Sunday (whyyyyy???) so we went here. The curb appeal is lacking and we just didn't wanna. But we were so glad we did. I ordered corned beef hash and eggs over hard and everything was perfect except the home fried potatoes were undercooked (I sent them back and the server explained they were close to running out and she was sorry - a hot batch came out soon thereafter). Hubby got chipped beef on toast (gross). It was corned beef slivers in a thick white gravy...he was neither thrilled nor did he feel well later. This no frills small town diner was the perfect breakfast spot on our way out of town. With nods to the '50s at each turn of the head, you feel transported back in time through the decor, music, and incredibly friendly staff. Can't go wrong with the blueberry pancakes, crab benedict, and the corned beef hash. Heads up they are cash only, but there is a bank just across the street. So my husband and i walked out of this diner this morning . Upon entering we were told to sit anywhere and that's what we did . After waiting about 5 minutes ( no big deal ) a waitress walked by us twice lining all the empty tables around us with menus and silverware without addressing us or giving us a menu . If you have an hour to wait to be more than welcome to come here. We waited 20 minutes to come inside the place, another 10 for them to clean the table, then they lost the order, and served locals first. Still waiting for food 40 minutes after we gave our order. I had an Over priced broccoli omelet that had no flavor. The waitress saw she was serving others before us and did not talk to the chef until she had served quite a few customers who were seated after us.
