Its not that the food at Martha's is bad, however, my last experience was just that. My last. They were advertising a thai plate special that came with shrimp, lobster and scallops. When the plate came and I began eating I noticed plenty of shrimp and scallops but no lobster. I went digging around and eventually found red meat that I recognized right away as imitation crab meat. I brought this to the attention of the waitress who brought it to her boss (this boss never came to the table to say anything by the way). They're offer was to put real lobster on it and stick it in the microwave. I told her she could just go ahead and take it off the bill. I didn't snap at the waitress because she doesn't cook the food. Bottom line: 1. Martha's lied and said there was lobster in a dish and instead put in imitation crab meat so they engage in false advertising. 2. They're crap solution was to put lobster meat on it and then microwave it. 3. The manager never came to apologize. 4. I'm guessing not everyone recognizes fake crab so they probably still use it. 5. They evidently have lobster on hand so just decided to see if they could get away with using shit instead. 6. Incidentally the service was excruciatingly slow. read more

Martha's is good for a quick meal and a decent drink. I never go out of my way to go here but if I need a place in downtown Nashua to grab food and drink this is where I sometimes end up. The food is good and what you would expect to find at a downtown pub at lunch. The beer selection is very goodcraft brewed at the top end and then of course your bottom rung Bud, Miller, Coors options. My only real beef with the food is that it sometimes tastes less than freash. Seating is ample and they have some nice tables outside along the the Main st. If you care that the tables outside are spotless though I wouldn't recommend sitting outside as they aren't wiped down frequently enough (pollen and dirt). Martha's does have live music if you are into it being entirely too loud on the nights they do have it. On the whole I recommend going here for a quick lunch rather than a night out. read more

Been here multiple times and each time it doesnt get any better. The beer is decent and the drinks and reasonably priced as well as the cute out door patio and I guess those are the only reasons we keep going back. The food is okay at best. And the service is terrible. There is a common trend to the bartenders and waitstaff, under trained and clearly hired due to their looks instead of their personality and performance.....in a restaurant waiting on people. The night life is decent. The DJ is usually good but I wouldn't pay a cover to get in there. MANY of the patrons are usually drunk and falling all over. We've tried this place over many years, many times. Beautiful bar, great beers, home brews. Nice bar atmosphere. Wait staff seems to turn over a lot, but the ones there generally are nice. The food is the real disappointment. Mediocre, even something as basic as a cheeseburger. How can you mess that up? Poor quality beef? Often cooked incorrectly. Even the ketchup doesn't seem like "real Heinz". Outdoor sidewalk seating in decent weather, but note it is street side on Main Street, lots of traffic, including loud motorcycles. If what you're looking for is just brews and late fun, this place is fine. Don't expect a great meal. To end on a positive, the bar is physically gorgeous backlit onyx and old wood. read more

I don't understand how a restaurant can have $20.00 dinners such as Scallops and Haddock available during the day but rolls aren't available until after 6:00 with the "new rules and the new open menu". The food was ok but the portions were small and not worth the $80.00 we spent there. My husband and I went to Martha's Exchange on 11/01/15 for dinner. I had the fried haddock dinner, he had a seafood dish as well. Our food was outstanding! My haddock fillet was large, and the portions of sides were, as well. Everything was obviously very fresh, and with appetizers (I had the vegetable quesadilla, which was a very good-sized portion, and delicious). I ended up taking half of my appetizer and half of my meal home! I appreciate that. The prices are on the high side, but we got great food, great service, and the portions were big. Our server was very friendly and attentive, which we are always appreciative of! I'd like to mention we are also both "beer snobs". I had an ale (that I don't remember the name of, but it was very tasty with a nice after-taste). So, double-win! I'd recommend this place to anyone! read more

A good place to go for beer and pub fare. I like the burgers. They also have some pretty healthy options if you are so inclined. Mostly they have excellent beers. I'm a local, who enjoys going out, dancing and hearing good music. Although the vibe at Martha on a Friday night isn't too bad, unfortunately the DJ is. He's just plain awful. He's all over the place with his track selection, doesn't pay any attention to his crowd, and just seems to play whatever he feels like jamming out to. He plays a lot of outdated music, and in all honesty, he doesn't have a clue how to mix 2 tracks together. He literally is just pressing play on a labtop. Not worthy of the name "Restaurant." I have refused to leave a tip only once in my life, and this was it! We would be passing thru Nashua, and wanted a nice place to eat. We found Martha's online, and the "reviews" looked awesome (Later found out written by Martha's staff!) After an exhausting day, all we wanted was a relaxed late afternoon lunch before heading off on a long weekend. What a disappointment. Drinks were watered down. The food was boring, portion size unimpressive at best. The "Shrimp and Crabcakes on a Salad" was a bad, bad joke. (Not "Shrimp and crab ground up in cakes") The waitress delivered 4 small crabcakes on a salad, SEVERELY small for what Martha's was charging. We asked "what happened to the shrimp?", and the waitress (Brittney) paused, and said, "What? Uh, yeah, they are in the crabcakes." It took her more effort to lie than it would have for her to deliver some shrimp! We were so exhausted, we did not have it in us to fight. We would have asked for a "manager", but it did no one over the age of 21 was on duty. Even tho she passed our table repeatedly, she refused to make eye contact, never mind get us water, never mind refill our drinks, never mind offer to make it right. The wife and I went there a couple of times. The last time would be our last. My panini was soaked and mushy. I returned it and ordered the haddock/fish. It came back swimming in water as well. First off this is not a dance club, they remove the tables and have the most generic lighting. A lot of sketchy people were there. Their "security" didn't make me feel safe at all. Half of the time they weren't even watching what was going on, it was more like a night out for them. A fight broke out the night I was there. Someone actually threw a beer bottle. That's not cool. I didn't feel "security" was able to break up the fight. Instead of getting the guys that were fighting outside they stayed on the dance floor trying to find out what had happened. The two guys were drunk and kept wanting to fight. You should have taken them outside for the safety of your customers. It was a shit show. I didn't have any food while there so I cannot comment on that. Drinks were okay, a little pricey for the atmosphere. I wouldn't mind paying the higher price if it was actually a dance club. I've gone to Martha's for years and have never had a bad experience. A few friends of mine were visiting from out of town supporting the DJ this Friday night and were very disappointed and disrespected. The "bartending manager" cut me off from all drinks, even water before I could order my first drink of the entire night. She instructed all staff members not to serve myself and my company visiting. I've never met her. Furthermore, many friends who have supported Martha's started getting cut off because this bartender saw their association of myself. The lack of professionalism was mind blowing as I've never experienced any type of altercation with staff let alone people I've never met before. To cut off customers to gain some type of authority is terrible business. Turning away paying loyal customers upon their arrival is bad service. If someone was intoxicated then yes, however, this was far from the case. Lunch is great but with the terrible service I received and how my guests were treated from out of town I wouldn't ever recommend "night life" with Martha's again. You'd think bartenders/staff would be inviting to create a great atmosphere to entice people to come back. The DJ was the only person to create that. We are residents of Nashua and prefer going to local eateries as opposed to large chains. Unfortunately, Nashua has far more chains so selection can be limited for a moderately priced meal. Martha's is one restaurant that fits the bill, but over time, we have found their food to be very hit or miss. We can visit one day and have a great meal, come back on another day, have the exact same meal and have it be lousy. They have a decent selection and the wait staff has been pretty good, but the preparation of the meal is very inconsistent. We have experienced meals being extremely over salted to the point that you don't want to eat it and meals that are not prepped per person (for example, pulled pork) being overcooked and dried out. We keep going back hoping for more hits than misses, but getting to the point where we may take it off our list. read more

It takes a lot for me to really want to write a poor review, especially regarding a Restaurant as I worked in one for 6 years and I know first hand how difficult it can be sometimes. I want to like it here, I really do! It's close to home, has nice out door seating in the summer. I have given Martha's numerous opportunities to prove me wrong about my negative opinion towards this establishment and every time it just gets worse and worse- to say I am done trying is the under statement of the year- I am now at the point of begging anyone I know that has plans to go to Martha's for anything they offer (lunch, dinner, drinks, candy, night life) to PLEASE STAY AWAY! I have tried both lunch and dinner items, nothing has ever impressed me, I have found hair in my food on not one, but TWO different occasions. And I simply got an "ew, that's gross, maybe I can get another one" response for the server- yeah no thanks, I'm all set! The staff is so under-trained it's pathetic; if you are a female, skinny and cute than you're IN! That is literally all the matters to the sexist pair of brother owner's (who are well known around town with less than respectable reputations). I've literally sat and watched them sit at the bar with a drink and just stare at the girls run around, and every once in a while one of the girls would come up to the bar to get drinks and some creepy words would be said to the girl..... it makes me sick to my stomach to think about it! I feel so bad for the women that work there; no one should ever have to put up with a work environment like that; whichever girl has the biggest rack or tightest behind gets the best shifts and section! Back to the food.... the MOST disturbing thing I've ever witnessed at Martha's (food related) happened one night this past fall. I was having dinner with a few girlfriends, (against my will but they insisted going to Martha's because they had a friend working and said we would get free drinks which we did so I couldn't complain about that) and we received a basket of bread after we ordered our meals. After we were done and having our leftovers packed up, out of the corner of my eye I saw a waitress pick up all of the left over bread and throw it in another metal storage container.... clearly not the trash... clearly keeping it to be REUSED!!! I literally almost feel out of my seat and couldn't run out of there fast enough. A part of me really wanted to ask about what I had just seen... but I was just so overwhelmed I had to get out of there and vowed never to go back. After discussing this with my friend that knows one of the servers later the next week my horror was confirmed. Apparently they reuse the table bread to MAKE THEIR CROUTONS! And it's no secret.... I've since spoken with a dozen or so people that know about this practice (that have always decided to never return to this trash-box) and word is spreading like wildfire throughout the Nashua community. And how could Martha's owners and management (and I use this term extremely lightly) not expect it to?! The most disturbing/horrifying event I have witness at Martha's during their "club" hours occurred this past November. I was dragged here with some girlfriends for a birthday celebration, and I stepped outside for some fresh air. There was a young girl speaking with one of the bartenders and all of a sudden she blacked out, fell against the potted flower wall thing (separates Martha's from Main Street) whacked her head and then landed on the ground. I immediately tried to help her up, she was totally knocked out, and then I see one of the owners coming over (with a drink in hand obviously) and he is yelling to his "security" team to "GET THIS DRUNK B**** THE F*** OUT OF MY BAR!" Then two guys proceed to come over, pick her up, and dump her on a park bench a BLOCK down the street!!! She was all the way down in front of Surf! She was just left there to be picked up by some homeless guy to be raped all night! That's all I could imagine! I was literally in shock. I turned to the bartender and asked what they were going to do, how would anyone that she was with know where she is or where to find her?! She replied "I don't give a s***, stuff like this happens all the time". OK, so, help me understand. Instead of doing the right thing and helping this girl get safely to the people she came here with, getting home safe, ANYTHING- you guys just throw her down the street. Well, I guess I can understand from their point of view because they obviously over-served the girl and god forbid they remotely do the right thing. This last experience has not only put a horrifically bad taste in my mouth, but has made it my mission to tell everyone I know to stay away- hopefully this review (sorry it's so long, I tried to shorten it but I just had to so much to say!) will help readers and Yelpers make the right decision to steer clear or Martha's and everything is has to offer; which is no longer much of anything at all read more

We've been wanting to come here since going to the NH Brewfest and finding a great tasting beer from this establishment. We were finally in the area and despite a couple of the reviews, decided to give it a try anyway. The beer was great (wished we could've had more, will explain later) and the food was good. The service, however, was terrible!! After the beer sampler, we ordered 3 beers and a soda. After a very hot day, we patiently waited for our drinks which never came. We had to ask for our drinks when she brought us our food. She only brought 2 beers. We never got the other beer or soda which she must have known because we never got charged for it. Although we wanted another beer, we decided against it. Also, from where we were sitting, I had a view of the area where the food comes out. I had to sit there and watch some young waiter who thought he must've been Justin Bieber because all he did was run his hands through his hair and shake his head everytime he was back there. And then I watched him pick up glasses and handle plates of food. Glad he wasn't our waiter!! I don't think we'll be back anytime soon and if we do, it will be to sit at the bar for a couple of great tasting beers. read more

FIrst time but not last time visitor! Came in from a day or motorcycle riding. The place is full of friendly people and never once got anything but a smile. Our food was very tasty, though the kitchen made a few easily remediable mistakes (like forgetting the bacon on a bacon cheeseburger). The waitress handled the problem quickly and with a smile. And the best (for my wife) was having the sweets shop right there for her to get some special items. We will be back now that we know it's here! read more

Went here for lunch in the middle of the workday on a Wednesday. They have nice outdoor seating. The service was beyond slow. Weekday lunch service should be speedy and we waited forever for orders to be taken, food delivered and checks handed out. I ordered the Dijon turkey wrap which came dressed not with Dijon mustard but honey mustard. How did they mess that up? Could not find sides on the menu, which was inconvenient. The wrap, in spite of the difference in dressing was tasty, as was the pasta salad. I may come back for dinner some night but never lunch. read more

I like Martha's a lot. The food is consistently good, if not innovative. They could stand to have a few more vegetarian options, but, well, that stands for most restaurants in the area. The real reason to go to Martha's is to eat decent food while drinking exceptional alcohol. I'm not a beer drinker, but my beer-drinking fiance and friends love the brews here. I'm more than happy to allow them the indulgence, since their drink list is chock full of yummy-sounding fufu drinks. But, I will probably not have the opportunity to try most of those drinks, because I tried Love in a Martini Glass first. Oh my. What an incredible drink! This drink, alone, is worth a return visit.
