We ordered the branzino and chicken martini two days ago via GrubHub delivery. The packaging was good with bread given on the side.We ordered the sauce on the side for the branzino, which was a request that they fulfilled, and that was appreciated. However, the branzino had a taste that was very strongly of dirt. This is quite unusual for a saltwater fish. We enjoyed the chicken martini, which came with potatoes and spinach. We were surprised as the reviews were generally good, but I would definitely stay away from the fish. read more

Marruzella's is a classic old-school Italian spot. It is the perfect place to bring your out of town relatives for dinner, especially if--like mine--they are also old-school Italians. The service is impeccable. The servers will crack jokes with you as you enter, rattle off the impressively long list of specials, and never let your water glass run dry. Your "particular" aunt from Long Island will have nothing to complain about. The food is also excellent. The dishes are all classics (the menu is an italian 'greatest hits' collection). Still, each one is almost surprisingly delicious. Our favorite appetizer is the calamaria ala grigli. It's essentially just grilled calamari and salad, but it is extraordinarily fresh and summery. Our favorite entrée is the veal scallopini marsala; it is almost decadently rich. The food comes out fast too. And, naturally, there is warm, soft bread which arrives promptly on your table, much to the delight of your father (rapidly approaching 'hangry' after battling traffic for 2 hours). The décor manages to be clean and well-composed yet not overly formal. It's very cozy and homey. After a meal here, your out-of-town family will be clamoring to visit again soon. This is a great date spot - a little pricey, big portions, and dim lighting so you can make sure your date goes home full and impressed. My friend and I came at 7:30 on a weeknight - not busy at all, plenty of space. They have an extensive wine list but unfortunately don't price by the glass. We split the spaghettini pomodoro e basilico and the pollo alla bolognese - frankly, they were enough for two people and then some. A little salty but definitely flavorful and well prepared. Very good dinner. My husband started with the beef carpaccio and really enjoyed it. The beef was thinly sliced and there was a good amount of Parmesan cheese. He added a bit of salt because it needed a little more flavor. I got the salad which came with endive, artichoke, hearts of palm, Parmesan and lemon and olive oil dressing. It was light and tasty. My brother recently moved right across the street from here and chose it as the spot where we got to meet his girlfriend for the first time. I am so happy he picked here. Although the place is TINY and you will most likely need an appointment, the food was outstanding as was the service. My main entree was pappardelle with white truffle oil, mushrooms and goat cheese. Around the Corner on 1st and East 77th is a good Italian Restaurant! This is one of my favorite inexpensive Italian Restaurants in the area. All of their dishes are very good along with the service. The shrimp and Broccoli Rabe dish maybe my favorite when they have it. But the Chicken with Artichokes and Rotolo Di Pasta which is a rolled homemade pasta filled with spinach, ricotta and mozzarella in a light tomato sauce are also very good. You can enjoy a long evening without anyone asking us if we wanted the check. Great when you are the one paying for a large family get together in NYC. read more
