This review is long over due. I love this place! We have been coming about every other week or so for the last two years, and are never let down. The food is delicious, the service is great, and it's always consistent. The veal capricossa is my favorite, and the key lime pie is awesome. They make the pie there and it's better than any key lime pie I've had, including the famous pie from joes stone crab in Miami. Coming from Florida we had so many options of great food in NYC. Everything was 5 stars from the food to the service! We had the artichokes, mushrooms and rolletini for appetizers and I had the fettuccine with meat sauce. Amazing! This is my first time ordering from here. I've passed by many times and always meant to try it but never got a chance until now. They are one of the few restaurants open during this pandemic. The food came quickly and it was in abundance. The pastas were all pretty tasty. The Caesar salad was too overdressed for my liking but it was still flavorful. I have lived on the upper east side for about a month and have been to this resturaunt probably 6 times already. I absolutely love this restaurant, the food is delicious and the owner Nick takes the time to get to know his guests. Living in New York Coty it's so nice to go to a neighborhood restaurant where the staff takes their time being personable with you and where they know your name. They ARE open for takeout and delivery during this time, and I can't wait to come back to dine-in when everything is over with corona. It's 10 pm on Wednesday, June 26 2019. I was looking for a place to have a drink, coffee or wine, and do some reading. This spot was nice and almost empty. The server tells me I can sit anywhere outside so I sit at a table of four. A few moments later the owner comes out and tells me I can't sit there, I need to sit at a table of two. Only two other people are outside but I did as suggested. Then the owner, not the server, comes back out again and asks what I want to order so I ask for a cup of coffee. He says I need to order something to eat or I can't stay and that if I want coffee I should go to Starbucks! This place was closing in one hour, why be such a jerk! Good pasta! My husband and I stopped by for an early dinner around 530 on a weeknight. The restaurant still had enough customers to keep the staff busy which made it seem like it was popular place to dine. We started with fried calamari and it was delicious. It was piping hot with a good seasoned coating. The marinara sauce that came with it was just as delicious. I usually dip the calamari minimally but the marinara here was so good we pretty much finished it. For entress we got the clam vongole and risotto. Both dishes were hot and delicious. Not too salty and not under seasoned either with the pasta being a great texture. I also couldn't decide between the penne al la vodka and risotto so the server was nice enough to make my risotto with vodka sauce and it was amazing. The service was great throughout dinner, always on time and friendly. Its a cozy restaurant to have a family dinner outings or a peaceful date night out. My husband and I agreed Maruzella would be our go to pasta restaurant in the UES. read more

My family of four came to Maruzzella tonight after being rudely turned away at Yefsi (see my review of them for the story). We were seated immediately, treated superbly, and enjoyed everything we had (salad, dinner, wine, coffee, dessert). The owner was gracious and attentive without being overbearing, as were the servers. I'm so tired of snotty attitudes at restaurants - no food is worth being treated poorly. I first discovered Maruzzella about 6 years ago and hadn't been there in almost that long, so when the health grade at my current favorite restaurant was pending, I thought it would be a good time to revisit. What I found was exactly what I remember! -Friendly and helpful staff -Large amounts of food, so there's plenty to take home -Huuuge oddly shaped gnocchi---something about them remind me of knuckles -Tomato sauce on the sweet side -Pepsi products a bit flat, your glass refilled and added to your tab -One (accessible) restroom for entire restaurant/staff In a town where restaurants come and go, the fact that Maruzzella is still here after all these years says a lot! Delivery | Arrived early, and I appreciate it, however, both delivery and restaurant manager were entirely unprofessional when I let them know that I took their delivery times seriously. The words "what do you want" should NEVER. EVER. Be uttered to a customer. And this is coming form someone who used to be in the same profession. I appreciate that you're busy. I appreciate that you're trying to get out as many orders as possible, but tell your managers to get their customer service sh*t together. One small snarky comment can make or break that tip. So regardless of the foods quality, your staff falls less than short. Get it together. read more

This Italian restaurant has been in the UES for over 20 years and is the most authentic Italian food I've tried. Coming from someone who takes summer trips to Italy and eats at some of the greatest restaurants there, this lives up to it! What to order? Great service and food is delicious. Appetizers are fair enough to share. Grilled calamari is cooked perfectly. Rollatine is tasty and the tricolore insalata. Penne ala vodka is the favorite for kids although the sea bass I ordered is just an ok taste for me. read more

Well, to be honest the food was decent, that's from the my friend who is Italian and was eating with me tonight. Prices are on the high side but the overall experience was good. Where the one star comes in play is when I got the bill presented to me with mandatory tip added by the waiter and charged to my credit card. Since we were speaking French at the table the waiter for some reason thought it was okay to overcharge me with tip and just add it to the check. Another person was later apologetic about the behavior when I walked in to confront them. I have a hard time with these techniques geared to overcharge tourists they make me doubt about the honesty of the place. read more

Awkward atmosphere. We were seated in the side room with what appeared to be 3 restaurant regulars all sitting solo at different tables awkwardly yelling to have a conversation. More importantly onto the food, each fish dish we ordered was over cooked this included the fried calamari and a lobster pasta both were rubbery. I will say the home made pasta was on point and delicious! I would suggest passing on anything there but the home made pastas. The gelato had frost bite and they comped it off the bill which was totally respectful in my book! read more

As much as I hate to share this and make it too crowded, I need to say this. This place is just AMAZING. You feel comfortable from the moment you walk in the door. Nick greets you when you walk in and will remember your name, food preferences and drink preferences the next time you arrive. The food is special, the ambiance is warm and it has a real neighborhood feel. The service is exceptional. Ask for Patrick, but do not hoard him cause I want him to take care of our table.
