The 3 stars is for the birthday cake I recently ordered from Marvel. And while I'm giving it three stars, I want to highlight both the positives and the negatives. First, the cake was super cute and we were excited to try it especially after hearing so many great things about Marvel . Along with the cake, we also ordered a few pastries to sample. The plain , almond, and cheese & spinach croissant were delicious! However, we got the chocolate cupcake and it was dry even though the frosting was tasty. The real letdown was the cake itself. When we cut into it on the birthday, it was crumbly and didn't hold together well. It didn't taste bad, but the texture was off and not what we expected. The cream and filling were good and not too sweet, but several guests commented on the cake's texture. I'm not sure if this is typical for all their cakes, but it was a bit disappointing. read more

Very modern and chic ambiance at Marvel Cake, which gave excellent afternoon tea vibes. There was a surprising amount of seats both inside and outside for the size of the cafe. The pastries and cakes on display were all gorgeous, though lacking a larger visible menu - folks waiting to order just ended up all crowding around the display counter trying to decide what to order, which didn't seem very efficient (some places provided a visual menu outside to help with this). Service was friendly but a bit slow as a result. They didn't have the spiral croissant that other reviews mentioned - I might need to come back earlier in the day to check that out sometime, but I got the l'opera, the pistachio tart and lemon tart. I also got a red velvet mocha as some reviewers recommended that. I enjoyed all the cakes, though I think the pistachio was my favorite. It had the perfect mix of textures and it was not too sweet. The l'opera was much sweeter, but not overly so, still enjoyable. The lemon tart was super tangy which I liked, but I would've preferred it without the cream top. The red velvet mocha was good as well, though they didn't ask if I wanted it hot or iced and just assumed iced (which surprised me, since usually drinks are hot by default unless you specify "iced"). The taste was good, and they mix the red velvet powder in well, but it had no real coffee taste and it was definitely pricey. All in all, it's a very cute and nice cafe to hang out at. Items are all pretty pricey, but the desserts all look beautiful and there were a ton of choices (even some savory ones). Wanted to get some spiral croissants and learned that Fancy Flavors no longer makes them so ended up here. We got the pistachio, matcha, and chocolate spiral croissants and you can't go wrong with any. They aren't too sweet and each has their own distinct flavor so pick your favorite, or get all that are available like us. The spinach and feta croissant and leek and Parmesan were both good but they weren't the star of the show. Service is friendly and let us know that the pistachio was still available even though it wasn't on display. Inside is cute with a tea room aesthetic with it being clean and elegant. There are many tea options and cakes/pastries. There is plenty of parking in the plaza. Overall, this place hit the spot and we might have to try the other cake/pastry options. read more

Marvel is such a hidden gem! I was actually gifted a variety of cakes to try by my husband on my birthday but since he was trying to surprise me the selection was chosen by my brother in law & niece! Finally, a woman approached me asking what I wanted to order and I asked if they had carrot cake or something similar and she just looked at me crazy lol I had to repeat myself several times before she understood and eventually said they didn't have anything with carrot. After she boxed my selection, the same man who didn't acknowledge me in the beginning rang me up and I asked about the discount offered on THEIR sign right by the register and he had no idea what I was talking about either so I literally pointed to it lol and he finally applied it. I realized the box was taped together when i went to take it out from the car. The person putting it in the box did it in the back so i did not see it in the bakery. The service here is efficient and answer questions regarding the ingredients of the pastries very well. The staff are nice but incredibly slow and they never have enough staff working and for how much they charge I expect amazing promt service and that's not what I get. Extremely high prices and slow service has me taking my business elsewhere. I live very close and I would love to support my neighborhood business but the last few times I went I ended up leaving because you guys just don't have enough staff and the ones you do are very young and dont really know what they are doing. With the cost of everything coffee and pastries are a luxury and I feel like if youre gonna charge the prices you guys do then you should respect your customers enough to hire not only staff with experience in customer service but also enough of them. We arrived right when they had opened and ordered 3 spiral croissants, a flat croissant, a slice of mango cake and a coquette chocolate dessert. My SO ended up getting more savory items such as a regular croissant and a handful of spinach and cheese snacks. The savory snacks were hand down the best part! He returned 5 minutes later telling me to go to their website to get the price. There are a lot of cafes around but Marvel is unique. It is a boutique cafe. Not only do they offer a variety of baked goods and pastries, but also an experience. You are asked to be seated and the order is delivered to you in style with teeny tiny forks and spoons. What a unique experience. The coffee is good and the whole place smells of elegance. One of my friends asked if he wanted to meet me at a place where he eats brunch with his wife but also takes home some cakes to gift others. It was around 9am when we came and there was a line of people wanting to get in and pick out their desserts, it was a first time for me here so I didn't know what I was getting myself into. My friend said just to pick anything and that my wife would love them anyways. What got me surprised was when I had a dessert with edible gold on it. Theres tables inside and outside the restaurant where you can be seated and eat your pastries while enjoying it with some hot coffee or coco. Disappointed with Poor Quality Cake - Not Edible I was very excited to pick up this cake for my best friend's 70th birthday -- a special and meaningful occasion. Unfortunately, it turned into a complete embarrassment. The texture was rough and inconsistent -- some parts were dry like a sponge, others overly moist. No one at the party could finish even one slice, and no one wanted to take the rest home. Because I paid $95, I gave it a second chance at home.
