I was a massage envy member for years and canceled my membership maybe a year ago because I wasn't using it frequently enough. Recently, I've had tightness in my back. I went to a session at another location about a week ago and it was wonderful. I booked a session today for 4 o'clock. I booked through the online portal that I have used for years and it said that it was $80 for a one hour massage. They immediately called and informed me that it would be $130. When I asked her why because the online portal said that it was $80 she was very rude and stated that I have been to another location recently. I stated it's not about the money. It's about the fact that the online portal said it was $80. I'm not going to pay an additional $50. She stated that she would cancel the appointment and hung up on me. Terrible customer service. The irony is I was going to join again today. I also had went to this location maybe a year ago. And when I would use my credits from my home location, they would always add on an additional amount however, other locations would not add on an additional amount. My massage therapist, Kevin has managed my body care services for the past three years. I wish I could give less than a star, the scam starts like this, as soon as you end your first massage and feel relaxed they got really persuasive sales reps ready to sign you on a membership with "discounts" etc that might look nice at a glance, but to be clear the 1 hour massage is really around 40 min tops, now they call it a "session" i guess people complain about not being the full hour, they think you need 5min to undress and 15min to put your clothes on, you will get charged automatically on your card at the beginning of the month, then you cam schedule your visit if you can't make it you have to cancel 4 hours before, otherwise you get charged anyways and you don't get the massage, so at this point is what you sign up, granted you were full of endorphins feel sleepy you just want tonleave and take a shower but thats the contract. So to recap * this is not the best massage you are going to get, *is not a full hour *you get charged at the beginning of the month *if you don't use it you'll still get charged every month regardless Now the kicker is that when you eventually call to cancel your account (and you will) Guess what is going to happen? Man, I wish my husband came here on yelp before wasting $100 gift card for one of the most disappointing massages I have ever received....Athough he "bought it" at the New Braunfels location BY OUR HOUSE. I Accidentally called the location in Lincoln Park, which is still really close so I didn't mind. I explained to her I got a gift card from my husband, and I was anxious to use it as it has been almost a year since I had a professional massage. She asked me for my phone number so she can see if I was in their system, she pulled up my first name with my maiden name that I used in 2011 (before my husband and I got married) . So since she was able to find me under a maiden name "10+ years later" she told me they could not honor the gift card that the woman told him at the other location would only cost him $80 for the massage and he added a $20 tip for me. They now wanted $150. End result, said it would be best that I call the location he bought it from. I then proceeded to call the location on New Braunfels, where he recently purchased it. I asked the lady if she had a female masseuse available, and she said they were booked for the day, but she can get me in tomorrow. I was SUPER excited to hear this news and told her thank you so much, the gift card is for the $79 massage and he left a tip for her too ... She responded with "oh, well She only has a 90 minute massages spot. I stated I only needed 60 minute massage and that's what he had already paid for and then was told they would not be able to accommodate me and offered to TRY and get me towards the end of the month. when I asked if he could come in and just get refunded so that I can go somewhere where they were able to accommodate us, she said that they would not refund him his purchase. My husband seeing me get overwhelmed trying to book the session mentioned another location on Blanco and Huebner out by 1604. So on my last hope, I called the and person on the phone was actually much nicer and helpful than the previous two, she saw that I was in the system under my maiden name from 2011 and told me that she would still honor his purchase and they were able to get me at 4 PM withthe female masseuse . I drove in traffic 25 mins to make sure I got there on time, with 10 minutes to fill out the paperwork and get settled. The girl who did my massage was kind but "extremely unexperienced" and it felt as if I had never walked in there after my sessions was over, that did not last a full 60 mins. I will admit at first, I did ask for a light to medium, because some people have heavy hands and it can get uncomfortable, except for my neck and shoulders where I hold more tension, She could not produce any sort of pressure AT ALL anywhere on my neck and arms (as she never even massaged my legs feet head, or any other part of my bod) besides my shoulders and neck, which was not expected I figured she would make her way as they typically do. I literally left there more frustrated and stressed walking out, now in 5pm traffic to drive across town again since the two closest locations were of no service. That is three separate locations I conversed with, in one day, and each one was a very, very, very poor experience. Well, it took 15 minutes for the masseuse to start the massage! Just experienced horrible customer service at this location. I was told that I got a call and message that my appointment was canceled for today. I showed the lady my phone and NO evidence of a call or voicemail for today's last minute cancellation on massage envy's behalf. Update: I requested a copy of my agreement/contract that I signed. The cancellation policy states that if canceled with in the 4 hour window of said appointment 50% fee would be charged. I requested to speak to the owner and he took two weeks to call me. I asked why I was charged the full amount rather than the 50% and he said he wasn't aware of such policy. He also stated his establishment has 1200 customers and if 1199 customer are satisfied there is nothing he can do about the 1 upset customer. The owner was very arrogant, rude and unwilling to help. He already had his mind made up when he called. Corporate was not willing to help so I have moved on to dispute with my credit card which I told him I was. He said that was another reason he was not willing to help me because he didn't want to refund me and then my credit card refund me at the same time. I told him if he refunded me my credit card would cancel the dispute but he said he had 19 years in the business experience and knew more than me about credit card charges. I'm sorry but I had to laugh here. Why would my credit card agree to refund me if I settle the reason for my dispute with the merchant. This business is a Joke. They are not customer service friendly!! Oh, and he hung up on me for continuing to laugh at his ignorant statements. According to the Texas Consumer Laws it is unlawful to charge 100% of the service cost as a cancellation fee. I will be filing a complain with the Texas Attorney General. read more

Jackie is seriously the nicest, most accommodating manager I have ever met! From the very beginning when I had to transfer locations due to a move, Jackie was very sweet and offered to let me keep my membership at the old rate even when they had raised their prices! I have also had financial setbacks twice in the last year and when I went to cancel my membership, Jackie was very understanding and offered to waive my membership fee for a few months so that I could get back on my feet. She genuinely cared about me not losing the credits that had accumulated on my account. This is the best customer service I have ever received in my life. Massage Envy has won a customer for life, and it's all thanks to Jackie! Anyone who says she is anything but so sweet, helpful, and nice is a flat out liar. I came here for the first time to try it out, I had been to a few locations in San Antonio to get a membership. I don't usually make reviews like this but I want everyone to be forewarned. Upon arrival the front desk staff was in shambles. Their manager was no help at all to them, they were clearly struggling with checking as many people in that were there. Their manager, who I later asked her name, is Jackie. She was ridiculing the staff in front of customers, and talking down to them. It was honestly quite shocking, I've been in customer service for over 15 years, and hate to see people treated that way. Upon further review, this place is a franchise! And the manager's family owns the business. I'm all for supporting small businesses, but this one is clearly screaming for help. The management was awful, their staff are clearly being drained and mistreated. The massage therapists seem overworked as well. I had Stephen for a 60 minute massage, and he provided just what I needed! I have to admit that I was pretty nervous about going during the pandemic, but they did a temp check when I arrived, and had plenty of sanitizer. I wore my mask the whole time, and so did Stephen. I told him my areas of concern, and he did AMAZING work on them. One area- my shins- feel significantly better and I was able to run almost pain-free post-massage. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY AT THIS LOCATION!! I have been going to the Blanco Pointe Massage Envy for over a year now with my girlfriend. We have been doing couples massages there almost every month. She has a therapist there that she likes and I have used him and he is good and dependable. On the other hand I have had several cancelations with a few different therapist and it is always at the last minute. The excuse is they are out of town, injuried, or quit. I have dealt with it up until this last time. They called my girlfriend instead of calling me the day before we were scheduled for a couples massage and told her they didn't have a therapist for me. They said they were trying to locate a fill in which would have been fine. The issue with this was when we got there the next day it was not a couples massage like we booked. I was not haapy with that and they failed to tell my girlfriend when they called her the day before about my therapist. They told us that the therapist was not that dependable and was sure if she would show up on time or at all. I feel that I should have been the one notified since it involved me but I guess that knew I wouldn't be happy. We also found out the day of our massage that the therapist that I had originally booked quit 2 weeks prior so they had plenty of time to notify me and find a suitable replacement. I honestly feel there is a real lack of management in this location. The current manager/owners daughter "Jackie" is not at all a customer oriented person and obviously not good with employees either since there is so much turn over there. I was furious and frustrated that day over everything that has went on and no manager on site and it took them half an hour to get someone on the phone. Some girl named Sabrina called me back a couple of day later and said they canceled my membership(which was fine with me because I was going to anyways) and she also took my credits from me after I had asked for them to be refunded. She said the manager will call me because she has to give the approval and do the refund. It has been 2 weeks now and the manager Jackie still hasn't called me. When I previously signed up for a membership, I signed up with a promotion where you can cancel within 10 days before your membership fee is charged, and when I requested a cancellation form it had the 10 days marked off and 30 days written instead. I did not want to be charged again since I already have credits I need to use, which I'd be going to another massage envy to redeem them, but I guess since nobody can contact me about this matter I'm going to have to pay the $70 fee again. This chain uses high pressure sales tactics and wants to sell you a "membership" This is a ploy to prepay for massage services and yet they expire in the time frame of the "membership"... you USE THEM or LOSE THEM, so if you are an intermittent user this is a scam. Gift cards are sold at "membership rates" but bait and switch occurs at time of redemption and "non-member " rates are charged unless you bark and complain. Needless to say this spoils the relaxing therapeutic and relaxing experience and you just leave stressed, tense and pissed off. I stopped referring folks for this reason to this chain. So in summary, massage services are very very good... the business side and payment for services--VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE and HIGH PRESSURE SALES TACTICS. I am extremely disappointed to say that I would not recommend this particular location to anyone I know. The ONLY reason being the "Manager" Sarah has ZERO customer service skills. She is completely unable to handle stressful situations and she takes her frustration out on innocent customers. They apparently are having issues with a Nationwide update today that is causing issues with their phones or causing them to be unable to answer their phones and schedule appointments. However, instead of being apologetic to customers who have been trying to get through for HOURS she begins yelling that she has "30 voicemails" she still needs to get to and "everyone has to wait". I asked for a manager and was shocked to hear I was speaking to her. She would not stop yelling about this Nationwide issue that was "NOT an issue with their phones". I had to stop her twice to tell her to stop yeling at me. She only continued to yell that she "was not yelling". She refused to give me a contact number to her supervisor. I was told the owner of this location is a person named Michael. She told me that he would be calling me but she was not about to give me a number I could reach him. What she fails to realize is that customers have a choice as to who we see for our message therapy needs. We DO NOT deserve to be treated that way. I am a physician and I make sure my entire staff knows how to give good customer service because I am well aware that if a patient has a bad experience with front desk or a nurse, it doesn't matter how good the care I gave was, they will not come back. Getting through was so difficult that my office manager attempted to call so I could go see patients. I found out later she was rude the minute she answered the phone. So I am sure there are many more out there that were mistreated by Sarah the Manager. This issue they were having at a national level could have been handled with much more grace and professionalism and I hope that this person is removed from dealing with clients as she is unable to act in a professional manner. read more

The staff needs more training. I called on Monday 7/20 to book anniversary massages for my parents and had some complications with the reservation because of the monthly transfer restrictions massage envy has for their members. Jordan let me know that she would need authorization from my home location (in CA) to make both of the appointments since you could only transfer 1 a month, so I had her book 1 under the transfer and 1 under me (the member) - no problem, right?. When we hung up the understanding was that I would need my home location to authorize a double transfer during the same month but we never talked about the appointments that we had JUST made not really being appointments. I called the location back today 7/21 after coordinating the transfers with my home location to speak to Sarah only to find out that Jordan had never actually made the appointments. This meant that the original appointments for Thursday were given to someone else and I had to settle for an alternate day/time. I could go into the details but the bottom line is that the staff needs additional training. If we speak with the understanding that you're making appointments then when I call back the next day I shouldn't be surprised that I don't actually have appointments. Sarah could benefit from additional training as well. While she did the right thing to try and resolve the issue she commented on the validity of a situation she only read about as notes from her employee, so when I called back she was already on the defense about the situation and it was clear in her tone and approach during our call. The right thing to do (and Sarah will learn this when she gets additional training) is to try and understand the situation and reconcile any difference between the notes that were read and what your customers understanding of the situation was. read more

I'm a new member, but this gives me something to look forward to monthly. My masseuse is pretty good, still getting used to a new person (and she still pronounces my name wrong!!) The manager at this location is rude and disrespectful. On more than one occasion she has been rude and unfriendly not only to me but to my spouse who is a wounded warrior. She has resolved to saying that my husband lied rather than her communicating that there may have been a misunderstanding that took place during the conversation between them. My husband would not lie about making an appointment. He was making it for his mother and he suggested that he confirm with his mom before booking her an appointment. She in turn stated this was a good idea and he said he'd call back to solidify it. It's not his fault she booked it anyway. Her phone etiquette, and management skills are terrible. She claimed that I was speaking over her but I was not she just wouldn't let me finish my statement while yelling over me and saying that my husband was lying to me. We've held a membership for over 18 months and this is not the kind of service we deserve. She just kept telling me "bye" & that she was going to hang up. I'm telling anyone who'll listen not to patronize this company and especially this location because the managers behavior is appalling. This is my "home location" despite leaving Texas and I wish I would have never signed up. When I signed up I was told I would receive a military discount since I was Active Duty- the paperwork was never processed. I've been trying to freeze my account since August and months later it still has not been processed. I've had locations near me try and send the paperwork to this location- still never has been processed. I try calling, and will sit on hold for 15-20 minutes only to get a voicemail. I am unable to travel across the country to go in myself, I feel like I'm being robbed paying for this service that I do not want and cannot use. read more

I've had a massage envy membership for about 2 years now, and the blanco point location is by far the cleanest, most hospitable and easy to go to of all that I've been to. The massage therapists there are fantastic, especially eden who has changed my life! I love being on the monthly plan because it truly forces me to take care of myself in a way I wouldn't normally, and it's easy to just make it a part of my routine. I no longer have lower back issues (this is coming from a point where I could barely walk) and was given great advice and tips from eden on how to further stretch between massage sessions. If you want to get a membership at massage envy, do it at blanco point, and ask for eden, I promise you won't be sorry! read more

Beware! Although I got great massages from Kolin, the desk staff is unprofessional & lack any concept of customer service. My daughter gifted me with a massage for Xmas -2015. After my 1st massage there, I agreed to a month-to-month membership. I gave them my credit card infor but they continued to withdraw from my daughters acct. After going in, they corrected the error. I booked couples massage for my husband & I, using my extra hours. After our 1st massage together, we used our joint acct to tip. They then began to withdraw monthly payments from that acct. After our next massage, they asked if he wanted a membership. We told them no, knowing he would be moving to another state in July-2016. They continued unauthorized withdrawals for two people/two memberships from that joint acct. When I noticed and called 7/25/16, Sarah insisted he had a membership even though he never signed an agreement. She said she would cancel it as if she was doing me a favor and continued to insist he had a membership. She was accusatory and condescending. She read a note that "when asked about a membership for my husband, we appeared confused." At that point I told her to cancel my membership because I felt like she was calling me & my husband liars. She mentioned informing a supervisor/manager named Alicia or Allison of the situation. When I called back to speak to the manager, Sarah said there isn't anyone there name Allison or Alicia.
