We went here because of the 'new' hype. We e-reserved so were at the top of the waiting list when arrived. Even with that we waited 20 minutes. We were able to watch the food being made and that made our ordering decisions easier. They have an electronic host as well. Anyway, we finally got seated and ordered beef brisket noddles, Chinese pot stickers and a chopped cilantro and parsley pork belly sando. They were all pretty good but not terribly good. Ughh so freakin good. Highly recommend the chinese dumplings: crisp and charred bottom dumplings with a savory pork filling. The meat folders were excellent in all their porky, cilantro, scallion goodness. Douse them in that magic garlic sauce. Heaven. Also tried the preserved egg congee but I spruced it up with hot chili oil, white pepper, garlic sauce, and vinegar to liven it up a bit. The vegetarian jian bing was surprisingly light; it had the right amount of veggies and crispy wonton chips for great texture. Overall, a great experience, service was friendly, quiet environment. The first time I ordered takeout here everything was great. The noodles that came with the mustard pork soup were probably the best noodles I've ever had! So good! They were flavourful and had the perfect texture. The last couple times I ordered to go, I got the beef noodle soup (be prepared for extremely fatty pieces of beef - my friends love the fatty bits but I'm not a fan so I picked the meat off and gave the fat strips to them lol) and the mustard pork again, but the noodles were very doughy, undercooked and all clumped together sticking to each other like a stringy dough ball. All I could smell and taste was that floury dough scent/flavour and they made the broth really milky. Raw flour makes my stomach hurt, so last time I just put the noodles in a pot so I could finish cooking them myself, and they didn't change the broth as much that time either. It was pretty disappointing though since the first time the noodles were so delicious and perfect! I don't really know how to ask for noodles that are cooked a little longer without sounding rude.. so I'll probably try a noodle soup one more time and if the noodles are "raw" a third time I'll just stick to other things on the menu and avoid the soups. I thought the broths were good though. I've also had the jianbing, sandwiches and dumplings, and they were all very good, but it would be nice if they had descriptions of the food and what's in it on the paper menu. If you're not a coriander/cilantro fan, make sure you ask for no cilantro! I couldn't eat the jianbing because of all the cilantro, but I could tell I would have liked it. I'm not holding that against them since so many people love it, and I'm sure it's great with cilantro if you like it, but if I had known it was going to be in there I would have asked for it without. There are fistfuls of coriander/cilantro in pretty much everything - great for coriander lovers, but a nightmare for people who think it tastes like soapy garbage. When trying a new item off the menu, I now just assume it's going to be stuffed with cilantro, since there's no info about what's in these foods on the menu, and ask for it without, and they've always been accommodating. Prices are super reasonable and aside from the doughy noodles, I've liked everything I've tried so far - I just have to remember to request no coriander! I'll update this review as I try more items off the menu, and just keep my fingers crossed for the good noodles! read more

Very smooth flavors you can personalize with chili, vinegar, etc. Please not expect it to be "ready to go" because this type of Asian food is meant to be personalized based on your palette. If you want salty chinese food, get panda express. The items we ordered here were all fresh, and made with that authentic, home made feel. Not like frozen " meat buns" you buy at the store. These are very sinple but quality dishes. We ordered 2 bowls of soup, a bunch of dumplings and a "meat folder", all of which are delicious. Came in without a lot of expectations. Had some idea about congee but hadn't had it before. Honestly, absolutely loved it. Their rice porridge is wonderfully flavored. It seemed to have minimal ingredients. There was generous amount of white fish, this being fish congee, lots of ginger and toppings of scallions. It's a huge bowl, more than enough for two people to share. Every spoonfull of the piping hot porridge feels full of flavor. The jianbing was different from other versions I've tried. This one had less of the bean paste and was also lighter, less filling. Perfect paring with the congee, with it's crunchy cracker lined filling. Rougamo was the other item we tried. It's a traditional meat filled sandwich. Closest thing that I've had is a torta. This particular sandwich was filled with ground pork, onions and scallions, and *dollops* of oil/ lard. Quite tasty. And very filling. All in all a savory, fantastic meal for two for just $20. If not for the long drive I'd definitely come more often. read more

We had the beef noodle soup and an order of dumplings. I liked the broth, the noodles were nice, and there was a full egg and some greens in the soup as well. It just needed a kick, and even tho I added the hot oil provided, it still could have used more. I also felt like the meat in the dumplings was not seasoned enough, they were rather bland. Simple, feel-good food that has not left behind its Chinese roots, nor the flavors. I think they're a family run business, and there's only one waitress working all the tables every time I've been there...but man are they efficient! They manage to seat me pretty quick despite being frequently packed. The food...mmm. The dumplings are fantastic, the jian bing is huge, and the meat folder is an amalgam of fatty, oniony goodness. Congee is a simple congee. The beef brisket noodles is a must on a cold day! I definitely go for either that or the won ton noodle soup before the mustard one, although that one isn't bad. First and last time ordering. So disappointed that almost all the food was inedible. The pork inside the potstickers was not fully cooked, the beef in the spicy noodles was all fat and tendons. Amazing beef noodle soup and pork and mustard greens . Steamed dumplings were doughy chewy and perfectly cooked . Jiang bing was crisp and savory. The staff are super sweet and you can see the kitchen staff hustle . However , it took about 20 minutes and some minor leering on my part before I got any water or a menu . My food came out pretty slowly . And as the table next to us who had been eating before we sat down were about to finish their meal - the hostess came out and brought some complimentary dish out to them .. and then 30 minutes later , an apology from the hostess and out came the rest our dishes . No other food came out during this time - as we were the only newer patrons there. ****Could not help but feel that perhaps the waitress forgot our order so that she could go above and beyond and offer some complimentary food to some other Table . Almost a 5 star, maybe a 4.5. I was super excited to try this little restaurant. I tried the jian bing, wonton noodle soup, beef noodle soup, and the slider looking meat burger. I enjoyed the food a lot, I went back twice already! I have a huge appetite, but sharing the jian bing and slider dish with my friend, I was content and very satisfied. The jian bing tasted a bit bland to me, so I added some sauces that you can get at the front counter. ALSO: For a few dollars extra, you can add meat to your jian bing. I don't know about you, but meat makes everything better! The noodle soups didnt't have a lot of flavor, but the wontons and beef were both really good! The slider meat burgers were quite good. Heading into downtown Portland from Hood River. After 2 days of burgers and steaks, we were looking for good Asian food. This is definitely a hole in the wall kind of place. The restaurant is in a very small house. Parking is limited. We ordered dumplings, xiao long bao, chicken feet, congee and beef rice. Everything was very tasty. The dishes all came at different time. After we finished eating everything else, we were still waiting for xiao long bao. When we asked about it, it came out right away. Xiao long bao here had soup inside but the skin is not as thin as Ding Tai Fung. They were still pretty good. There is self serve hot sauce and peanut garlic sauce near the kitchen counter. As self-proclaimed dumpling freaks, in response to reporting on this newer dumpling house, we drove up yesterday at 9:55am for a 10am opening. Unfortunately, the staff didn't drive up until 10:10am. We then entered a freezing cold restaurant with zero prep (including no dim sum tea). Lets just say that things could only go up, but they didn't go up too far. There was nothing remarkable about this dim sum spot and was about 25% more expensive than any more traditional dim sum (think HK Cafe, Pure Spice, Chinatown, etc...). Everything else was solid--the wonton soup didn't work as well for takeout, but I enjoyed the chinese style pot stickers and the pea greens as well.
