Went here a couple of months back and definitely worth the trip! It's a great pop-up for the Halloween season if you are looking for a unique experience with great food, great drinks, and a super friendly and fun staff. If you're looking for the Halloween vibe, I'd check it out when it's back.

The setup here is awesome, they certainly lived up to the year-round halloween vibe and atmosphere we've heard so much about. We stopped by for a couple drinks on a Sunday afternoon around opening time. There was a live performance going on with a guy in costume who actually sounded like Beetlejuice. We sat at the bar, and enjoyed the Chocolage Chocolate Martini which was sweet and strong with cute presentation, and Edward's Lemonade, a whiskey forward drink, served with a smoky dry ice effect. Service was quick and attentive with no one else sitting at the bar while we were there. We were mesmerized by the decor all over the walls and ceiling, the many options for dining and lounge seating, and the TV's on the wall showing clips of various films and characters including The Shining, It, Mars Attack, Jack Skellington and The Nightmare Before Christmas, Edward Scissorhands, and plenty of other Tim Burton creations. We were also startled by costumed killers like Ghostface and Chucky roaming around the place and creeping up on guests. Cool spot for sure, adding to our fun horror-filled weekend in SoCal.

I loved the ambiance and the service was good! Entertainment was fun too. However, was not impressed by the food unfortunately. For appetizers I did enjoy the lemon pepper wings. I got the salmon dish and while the salmon itself was good, I personally felt the wasabi mashed potato was too strong of the wasabi taste for it to be enjoyable. My friends ordered the chicken and they were unfortunately disappointed. I did see good reviews about the steak so maybe we should've gotten that. For dessert I got the pumpkin cheesecake and that was ok! Overall loved the vibes but as a foodie, prob won't return!

I want to preface that the only reason why I refuse to give this place anything lower than 3 stars is because of the environment. This place is magical! I love the theme of having Halloween all year, the performances were great and I enjoyed how they decorated the place. The service was amazing and I LOVED how our waitress was dressed up. There are so many little Easter eggs throughout this place that you have to look for (especially from Beetlejuice). The food itself is not worth it. I would say this place is one I will come back to only for a drink and have dinner before somewhere else. I love this place and from what our waitress told us, they are moving venues soon but will stay in the valley! I look forward to visiting them again :)

This was such a fun place to eat at! You immediately get the Tim Burton vibes when you enter this restaurant. It's completely decked out in different characters. My boyfriend and I arrived early and thankfully got seated early too. All of the staff were so friendly from the moment you enter to the moment you leave. Our waiter was attentive and the food came out pretty fast. The food was okay, I definitely didn't order the best food, I ended up liking my boyfriends food over mine. I ordered the cheshire mac n cheese, edwards burger, and brownie. My boyfriend ordered the kebab, killer coq au vin, and pumpkin cheesecake. We even switched entrees and desserts haha. The main act for the night was the Sanderson Sisters, they came out every 20 min or so to perform a song and they were amazing! Over all it was so fun and I definitely want to come back at some point!

I have a friend, who will call Kay. She is busy with work, life, and figuring out the balance between the two. There was a time where it was easier for both of us to spend time with one another. But now we text on days far apart, and promise to see each other, when time and responsibilities permit, an alignment that arrives on rare occassion, like a blue moon. After a nearly two year wait, we finally found the time to meet, on a night a week away from Halloween. I decided to book a reservation at Beetle House LA because an Instagram real led me to believe it would be a spooky, good time. And since Kay and I see each other seldomly, I thought the moment should be held by an environment and background that was uniquely special, and helped propel our shared time into distinct territory. And the place held its promise, for Kay and I had a good time because the place itself was modest spectacle that offered shadows and flames in play that provided Kay and I, further reason to make our long awaited hangout, special, like a vampire's first bite after a decade's coffin-slumber. As soon as one walks in, one feels the ghoulish atmosphere that never feels like a scary maze ready with jump scares. The atmosphere is Halloween fun; a mix of kitsch, orange and purple glow, and the beat of the monster mash. When we arrived, the host was dressed a la Maleficent but with a sexier edge. I know this is picky, but I would have liked the host to great me with Halloween-forward language. For example, she could have said, welcome ghosts and specters, prepare for a frighteningly good time,. However, she had already done enough, wearing intricate purple make-up under her eyes, must take some time, so her lack of Halloween language would have been extra candy in my pumpkin basket, not a necessity. As soon, as we walked in, we were escorted to our seats, which were right in front of a floor stage. She and I had not done a lot of research, thus we were surprised that they were going to have a show. I dreaded the realization a bit, as I am not always the fan of performances while I am dining, as they can easily traverse to being cheesy or non-engaging, thus they become something to endure and applaud out of respect. But this places's performances were micro bites of entertainment, they moved quickly and were bursts of visual appeal. For instance, the host Elvira, introduced a fire dancer who adopted Morticia's persona, of Addams Family Fame. As she came down the famous tune accompanied her, but it was a modern one, not the one that I know from before. She twirled her fire wands, and put the flames in her mouth. It was a momentary dazzle that added to the evening, not arrested our attention. Later in the evening, Elvira brought the different performers of the night together. She invited the guests and the performers to dance the famous song from Rocky Horror Picture Show, the Time Warp. None of the guests got up and dance. It would have been inconvenient-- the tables would have gotten in our way. Maybe Elvira could have invited some brave souls (volunteers) to dance in the stage alongside the performers. But It would have been great having the whole joint dancing to the Time Warp, but alas we were not pumped into action. Our server was named Blanca, which means White in Spanish. I thought that was such a clever wink from the universe to us, for we were being served by a person whose named meant white, on a day where the dark was being celebrated, but neither Kay nor Blanca took the moment to enjoy the coincidence, much like Zombies, there funny bone might be rotten to the point of inefficacy. The food was just ok, I am sorry to say. We were required to get a three course menu. We both started with the mac and cheese, and she got the French Chicken (coc au vain, or something close) and I the Miso Salmon. The mac and cheese was a let down. It was served in a small plate, not a small bow. The mac and cheese was made from pasta shell. I think they tried to make the dish special by using shells instead of elbows, it had no flavor, and its cheese consistency was a drip. No one wants to see watery cheese sauce on a pasta dish. My salmon dish was solid. I ate wasabi mash potatoes. At one point, I took a bite and the wasabi was so present, I felt its typical kick upon my nostrils, and taste buds. It was harsh, just a bit, but enough for me to know that this dish was more a solid attempt, than a compose dish. The cheesecake was pumpkin, and I ate it but it was not a sweet note to end a dinner with, more like a treat to enjoy to combat food waste. The drinks were enjoyable and came brewing! She and I both had two. There were hanging plants from the ceiling. I imagine they were meant to remind us of the Swamp Thing in the ceiling. There were plenty of scary things to see! The place is more like a moment to celebrate Halloween, but other than that, do not expect it to be more!

I was hesitant to go due to so many poor reviews recently but we have wanted to go for a couple years now. We decided to go for my daughter's 15th birthday. We made our reservations online in advance. We kept it small since it is a bit pricey. We had no trouble finding the building or parking. The building was open and there was staff that greeted us at the entrance. The inside of the building is cute and appropriately kitschy. Just an fyi it is VERY dark in there. Our waitress was super friendly and helpful when selecting our food orders. I wish I remembered her name to give her a shout out. The food was interesting. We tried quite a few of the menu items. Our two kids, age 15 and 13 ordered off the kids menu. They both ordered the monster burgers with Mac and cheese which were both okay. The presentation was the best part. They looked like pretty parties from SpongeBob. Across the table we also tried the poutine, the kebab, the Sweeney beef, the miso sea monster, the garlic mashed potatoes, the death by chocolate cake (SOO Chocolatey), and the just like heaven cake (really delicious). We also tried a few drinks, none of them super great but they were fun and themed. The performers were really fun and funny. We came on a night where there was a Beetlejuice, Lydia Deetz, Edward Scissorhands, and little Sam. Beetlejuice was the star of the show hands down. He was so funny and interactive and made the night a showstopper. I think it was worth the price to go and experience once but because it was pricey I wouldn't go back "just because" or if I was responsible for paying for an entire party again. They are very up front about cost and meal options etc. on their website so none of it was a surprise which is nice. I would definitely recommend this spot!

A friend picked this place to celebrate a birthday. When I arrived everyone from the restaurant was super dressed up.. the place decked out in Halloween/beetlejuice theme which was super cool. Actors dressed up came out and greeted and performed. Drinks were strong and interesting. Food was good! It would be better if the meal included a drink. I thought it was going to be an actual show but actors just come out to perform a short show and then you have to wait for the next short show. There is a lot with plenty of spaces and charges about $16. Overall it was a cool experience and glad my friend found this place!

Over all was a cool experience. It was beautifully dark upon entering. It's $65 per person for a three course meal, not including drinks. The portions weren't bad, but the food was super greasy and my noodles for my bolognese weren't all the way cooked. Dessert was blah and the drinks were ok. We tried the fishbowl and Edward's lemonade. The staff was friendly and service was pretty good/fast, The performers were the best part but they only come out every 45 mins or so. Wish they would have been more frequent, because that's pretty much what you're paying for. (It's definitely not the food quality.) The performers walk around talking to everyone in between. It's cool to check out once.

This was such a fun concept! Every day is Halloween here. We took our teenage niece and had a fun dinner. The food and service is good, but the performers are what make it special. We went at 8:00, but I wish we'd gone a little earlier so that maybe more people would've been there. Unfortunately the earlier reservations were full. Great place for pictures and I loved seeing the outfits other guests were wearing. The music and ambiance reminded me of a club I used to frequent.

ALMOST had a hard time finding this place but once your in, the place is so chill!! food and drinks are amazing, the shows are pretty good and the vibes are hella sick (in a good way).

Such a fun spot for any Tim Burton and/or spooky fan. The themed food and drinks are what really gets me excited to try new things. The Food was delicious and the drinks were great but what really gives the experience five stars is the service. The service was so kind. They really took the time to get to know us and ask us questions. Love this place! Although it is on the pricey side, it's definitely worth every penny!

The only reason it's getting 3 stars is for the ambience.... The DJ killed it!!! Fantastic songs all night! The service was very friendly can't complain there. You order all your food immediately and they check in occasionally and see if we need anything. There is a super cute bar as well! The food was meh... For the price?.... The dessert UBE panna was horrible and the cheesecake is frozen. Mac n Cheese was cold. EXPENSIVE!!!!! Prepare to spend money here and there's signs for tips everywhere........ As for the performances they come roughly every 30 mins for about 2-3 minutes at a time... not impressed. We were really excited and we were pretty disappointed.. but it's super cute inside and picture worthy!!! Come in cute outfits there's plenty of photo opportunities!!!!

Beetle House LA Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - Beetle House LA

Is this Beetlehouse location closing before Halloween?

It might. They are trying to raise enough money to stay in business, and it's month to month right now. They have a Gofundme for donations.

Can I pay with cash or card? Or both?

    Both

Is this place open all year long?

    Yes it is

Reservation? If I don't make one cause there isn't any. And we aren't in the state long what's the odds we will get in? It says they take walk ins

Before the movie it was super chill. Now since Beetlejuice 2 came out, this place has blown up. It's definitely a book far in advance type of thing now.

If I make a reservation on a day that the restaurant is closed, will I still be charged?

You can email them and they are pretty quick to respond.

Does anyone know if you can make reservations on Sunday? I am trying to make one for this Sunday but it isn't allowing me to

If you are unable to make reservations they are most likely already booked for that night.

Family of 6 with 2 small children(7/8) is the 65$ reservation needed for them as well, being that they're picky eaters? Is it worth the reservation or can we just walk in and still get the same experience?

    Kids under 12 are $25.

Can I watch the show from the bar?

You can, but you'll be standing the whole night. They don't have barstools for a reason, that way they can make you sit at a table and charge you the mandatory food minimum.

If we do not want the three course meal, can we still make reservations to watch the show and just order drinks?

I believe you would have to order at the bar, I don't think they will give you a table for that.

Does the $65 in include the meal?

Yes meal is included. Drinks are extra. Make sure to bring lots of dollar bills. Performers expect tips.

I made reservations for 8 had to provide my credit card and now can't find my confirmation I need to update my party from 8 to 4?

The email address is info@beetlehousela.com. You could also cancel your reservation and do it again with the correct party size. I hope this helps!

I have been trying to call and email due to a accidental reservation but I can't get ahold of anyone. What do I do if I dnt want to get charged?

Dispute it with your credit card. Keep all the attempts you made. I think you need to cancel 48 hrs before your date.

I am coming from out of town on a motorcycle, Do you guys have a bar area to just sit and have some drinks? Or must you order food at a table?

Bar area has no chairs. To force you to get a table and pay $65 minimum

I accidentally put 3 adults and it's only 2 what can I do I don't want them to charge me for that 3rd person not coming made a reservation for the next day so I don't have 24 hours to cancel or anything?

I think you are ok. Just lmk when you arrive. I think the it's more for "no show" parties. Have fun!

I'm coming here after school with friends. Do they allow bags like a tote bag?

We just went on Saturday night and there were no restrictions at least that night

Is there a time schedule for the shows?

No. RSVP for whatever time you want during the hours they're open. The same performances are repeated throughout the night during the timed meals such that every patron sees each performance once.…

Yelp is offering reservations for today (Wednesday) but it says they're closed Wednesday. Im confused?

For the month of October they are open 5p to 10p

Is there a slicing fee if we bring our own birthday cake?

    Yes

I made a reservation on wrong day how can i change it to the right day?

You need to call them .

    Where can i park?

There is limited street parking, but there is a garage in the alleyway near the entrance, I think it was $15/$20 for the day.

I expect to Have my money refunded back to me asap. This has been the worst restaurant experience I've ever dealt with from the snooty reservation process to the now fraudulent charges on my card. I expect to get have a call back ASAP,

The prosciutto and arugula salad was without equal. The Cavatelli alla Norcina was so good I thought I died and went to heaven. We ordered one of each dessert and they were all good. But the Vin Dolce Chiffon Cake, sauteed apricots & cherries and vanilla-mascarpone whipped cream, rules over them all.

California offered an immediate rush of light, space, and possibility. My memory is that when I turned my phone back on at LAX, my friend messaged to say he'd gotten us the hookup at Bestia. That dinner belongs to a chapter in which I spent considerable time in California and felt energized by the contrast with New York. My friend is highly discerning, with impeccable taste in food, design, and culture. He notices details most people miss, so when a place impresses him, I pay attention. From the moment I saw his message, I knew the reservation meant something. Even before we entered, Bestia's character was evident. Faded lettering crossed the corrugated metal facade, while brick walls and old loading doors preserved the warehouse's industrial history. Inside, enormous windows and garage doors brought light into a room shaped by glass, exposed ductwork, and warm amber pendants. When I fantasize about living in a loft, many of the attributes I picture are here, especially the incredible windows and connection to the street. Inside the restaurant, the dining room achieved a combination I rarely encounter. It had the table density and collective buzz of a great New York restaurant, but within a large, design-forward space closer in scale to something found in Chicago. New York creates energy through tight rooms, while Chicago excels at ambitious spaces with strong architectural identities. Bestia captured both advantages and made its considerable footprint feel alive and unified. We sat shoulder to shoulder at a pale stone counter facing the open kitchen. Golden era hip hop was playing, and A Tribe Called Quest still rings a very specific bell. I ordered the squid ink pasta, and it was exquisite, with enough depth and precision to command attention amid everything happening around us. We also spotted an unmistakably A-list celebrity, whom I will leave unnamed, making the night feel quintessentially Los Angeles. During that period, I often stayed at the Ace Hotel downtown, and the Arts District felt vibrant, raw, and full of possibility. The proximity to Skid Row could be deeply jarring, with severe hardship existing beside ambitious development and expensive restaurants. That contrast kept the neighborhood from feeling like a neat story of urban renewal, even as Bestia seemed to anchor its evolution. The warehouses and loading docks gave the area a character that no new development could convincingly recreate. Nearby, I also remember the American Apparel complex during its demise and the rise of impossibly cool Los Angeles designer John Elliott. His Escobar sweatpants and Villain hoodie helped define the kit of that moment; loyalists will understand. Los Angeles is a fickle city, drawn toward whatever is new and shiny, which makes Bestia's longevity especially impressive. Scene without substance is plastic, and Bestia earned its electricity through exceptional cooking, assured service, and a remarkable space; if I lived in Los Angeles, this would be one of the places I'd rely on whenever I wanted to impress someone. This is absolutely one of my favorite restaurants in the world.

(+) CHEROKEE TOMATO CAESAR (+) SLICED CHEROKEE TOMATOES…read more(+) BEEF RIBEYE Dunsmoor is a trendy LA restaurant right now. Reservations are hard to come by but done through Open Table. Parking is available on the street, or valet for $15. Order one main entree and 3-4 appetizers/sides for two people. Even after that , we had leftovers. Great selection of wines available. Food: The meal is rich. My favorite is their Cherokee tomatoes. Plump, sweet and juicy. The tomato Caesar isn't your typical salad. It is a slice of tomato topped with dressing, basil, breadcrumbs and parmesan cheese. One of my favorites this meal for its creativity and blend of flavors. Beef rib eye (32oz) is a lot for two people. Comes with bone marrow and sea salt to sprinkle on. Great char and flavor making it a good staple. The cornbread and cheddar & chive potatoes were ordinary. Nothing special. Loved the jalapeno addition to the cornbread. Service/Ambiance: Service is serviceable. Servers are friendly as expected with an establishment as this. Ambiance is bright and lively. Plenty of natural light. There are kitchen bar seats you can sit at where you can watch the kitchen staff cook, literally. Overall, a great tasting meal. It met my high expectations. Lots of oil and butter, so be prepared for a rich meal. Well done in my book. One of the top 10 best restaurants in terms of food and quality.

Dunsmoor (Glassell Park) Review…read more Overall: 4/5 Ambience: 4/5 The restaurant has a great atmosphere, but it was extremely loud and very crowded inside. It made it a little difficult to relax and have a conversation. Service: 3/5 The staff was friendly, but they seemed overwhelmed. The restaurant was packed, and it felt like they accepted more guests than they could comfortably handle. It took quite a while for someone to take our drink order, and the food also took a long time to arrive. Noise Level: Very loud Food: 4/5 The kitchen clearly knows what it's doing, and the food quality is there. That said, it feels like Dunsmoor has reached "hipster hype" status, where the buzz may be a little bigger than the overall experience. I'd definitely go back, though, because there are still several appetizers I'd like to try. What We Ordered: - Chicken Liver - 5/5: Absolutely delicious. The rich chicken liver paired perfectly with their incredible sourdough bread. - Green Chile Stew - 5/5: Outstanding. It was packed with large, tender chunks of pork, and the fresh flour tortillas were amazing. - Trout - 3/5: The biggest disappointment of the meal. While the fish was meaty and cooked well, it lacked flavor and felt very basic. - Famous Cornbread - 4/5: Good, but it didn't quite live up to the hype for me. Final Thoughts: Dunsmoor serves some excellent food, especially the chicken liver and green chile stew, but the overall experience was held back by the long waits and noisy dining room. I can see why it's so popular, but I think some of the excitement is driven by hype. Even so, I'd come back to explore more of the menu.
