I thought I had figured out where I had to get my Keylime pie in Key West but then I walked by this! Wow, was I glad I did! Everything was super indulgent delectable Devine, and like grandma made it right in front of you fresh! Absolutely the best Keylime pie I've ever had in my life. And the best Keylime pie in Key West in my opinion. The cookies are like no other. They taste right out of the oven in large enough to share with a few friends unless you're really hungry.

CHOCOLATE CHIP MANIA... There are three Mattheessen's Candy Kitchen locations within Key West open until midnight. As we walked by the Duval Street shop, we noticed gigantic cookies in the display window ready for human consumption. There was a line forming from outside and it was elbow to elbow outside, this seemed like a popular late night snack joint so we checked it out. Ordered a Frisbee sized chocolate chip cookie, look at my hand vs the cookie size in the pic, its crazy. For $7.00, they offer these mammoth cookies offered in oatmeal raisin, peanut butter and sugar. The cookie was lightly warm, and flapped over in my hand with the chocolate chips slowly melting. We also purchased ice cream, which was good on a warm night, but nothing compared to the cookie. Maybe next time we will try the thick fudge slices, priced at $18.95 per pound with a buy two get one free deal.

If you are looking for a sugary treat then this place might be for you. They sell oversized cookie, slices of key lime pie, chocolate dipped macaroons the size of a base ball. Service is quick and at the counter. The shop has a relaxed atmosphere.

Great little ice cream shop on Duval Street in Key West! We were drawn in by the huge cookies in the window. The decor was so cute with large ice cream cones suspended from the ceiling. My kids got ice cream and I split a chocolate chip cookie with the hubs. I'm not a big sweets eater but did enjoy the soft chewy cookie! The lines were long (one line for cream and one for cookies) but we were greeted immediately upon entering and the wait was short. The place was small so you had to turn sideways to stay in line as people exited.

Every time i come to key west i need to stop in a grab a one of these ginormous cookies. The most as big as my face the chocolate chip is my favorite with just the perfect amount of chocolate chips with a buttery taste. The price point is about 7.50 per cookie but worth it to share with the whole family. They also have other sweet treats like ice cream and Tropical covered Keylime pies. If you're ever in Key West, you definitely need to stop in here.

If you need sweets this is your place! They have great hours and are open late. Lots of deliciousness in this place. They have huge cookies that are as big as your face in so many varieties. The one that's a must get is the peanut butter fudge - you will know it when you see it!!! We split it between 7 people. Perfect. There's also ice cream, fudge, macaroons, key lime pie, and chocolate covered key lime pie on a stick. They have coffees and regular beverages as well. Nothing that we had was bad!! Cute little store with an old time vibe. Super friendly staff that is very accommodating. Greta place to visit to grab some treats to take home!!

In the mood for cookies and we stumbled upon Mattheessen's. We were so glad they were open late. Walking in, we saw they had cookies, desserts, and ice cream. The cookies display is what really sold out. Plentiful. Beautifully displayed. We ordered 3 cookies. They were huge. As big as someone's face. We also tried a flavor of ice cream because they allowed us to sample. Our total was about $30 which was a lot for 3 cookies! One of them was a special cookie as it had fudge on top so it cost more - $11-12. It was a yummy sweet treat for the end of the night though.

This is not the first time I visit this amazing cookie and ice cream store, but it's the first time I've actually purchased a cookie. I opted for the Peanut Butter and Fudge cookie which was $12. It sounds expensive but it's huge. I can honestly say that it was worth every penny and I will not visit Key West without purchasing this cookie again. Wow. Has to be my favorite peanut butter cookie.

We wanted Key Lime Pie in Key West, and I read some posting that mentioned Mattheessen's. When I walked into the store, I almost forgot about the pie as I saw the cookies, fudge, and ice cream! The Key Lime Pie at Mattheessen's is deelish (despite the difficulty I'm having typing out the store's name...lol). It is not too tart and goes well with whipped cream (ALWAYS say yes to whipped cream). If you are Jonesing for Key Lime Pie, go to Mattheessen's!

Came here just for the Key Lime Pie. It was excellent!!'' They also have fudge and cookies that look amazing. Friendly staff and cute sign for the menu.

The place to go if you are craving huge freshly baked cookies in Key West. There are several locations in Key West so Mattheessen's takes the cake in terms of convenience in this small coastal city in Florida. When we visited though, we often went to the large store located on Duval Street. In terms of food, Mattheessen's offers a variety of desserts, including cookies, brownies and key lime pie. But what drew us were the huge cookies. We ordered the peanut butter chocolate cookie, peanut butter cookie and regular chocolate chip, and they all blew us away. Service was also good and we had cookies in hand not long after going into the store. The price was also fair for such huge cookies. If you want a cookie or something else sweet, you definitely won't go wrong by giving Mattheessen's a try.

Friendly staff and delicious key lime pie that was the perfect size for 1 person. I was so full and saved literally 1 last bite in the fridge for the next day and it was still delicious. The Cookie Monster was too much though; it was 3 scoops of ice cream on top of a huge cookie. It can definitely be shared between a few people. This shop is worth a try if you're craving something sweet!

I forgot to take a photo of their cold brew process that was being done in the morning, but it was fascinating to watch. The process looked painstakingly slow, yet very cool and worth seeing. After a long day of walking and sightseeing, a small afternoon coffee break was much needed. We ordered iced coffee along with a slice of honey cake. The cake was moist, not overly sweet, and paired perfectly with either iced or hot coffee. The only downside was the service toward the end of our visit. Since they were preparing to close, the staff had already started putting things away and cleaning while customers were still seated and eating or drinking. Personally, I think cleaning should begin after closing time rather than while guests are still trying to enjoy their experience. Overall, I'd definitely come back for the honey cake and would love to try their cold brew next time.

The decor is seductive in such a tasteful and classy way, everything is so romantic. It's beautiful. Cozy, intimate booths. Sparkling chandeliers flickering in candlelight. Ambient lighting. Service was incredible from start to finish. I appreciate their ipad menus with questions to ask your partner, peruse the menu, and read about the origins. There are plenty of drinks and deserts with double entendre names, they're so fun. Huge positive that they have virgin drinks, and several to choose from. Both deserts we tried were out of the world delicious. The missionary crisp ice cream and flavor was 10/10, no notes to improve. Key lime from behind was the best key lime I've had in my life and quickly became the best we have tried on Key West. Incredible and what a lovely place!!

Everything on order is accompanied by a double entendre title, which makes it fun to pick. Candy rimmed beer was good; and the berry crisp and ice cream offerings were tasty. Honestly too big, even for two. But they were trying to do something different. To know: they do not have a license for hard liquor. A fun spot to have a sweet treat. Maybe don't bring the kids.

I saw some pictures on Yelp of the eggs Benedict and they have a full page devoted to different types of eggs Benedict. I decided on this smoked salmon eggs Benedict and it was probably the best I've ever eaten in my life in any country. It was literally that outstanding!! The food comes out relatively fast although they're insanely busy and it's efficient.. It's not a place you lounge around with a lot of people - eat and get out, because there is a line waiting to be seated no matter what day what time. These servers really hustle too. I arrived around 7:30 a.m., and the place was already starting to get busy. Food They offer a very interesting assortment of donuts, including flavors you don't typically see elsewhere. Options like Blueberry Cheesecake, Brown Butter Hazelnut, and Cuban Coffee Cake stand out. I chose the Cuban Coffee Cake. It was essentially a spiced coffee cake shaped like a donut, topped with plenty of glaze and crumble. The portion was generous. It could easily feed two people, but I managed to finish the entire thing. For a beverage, I ordered a Mocha Latte. The flavor was very good, but it was served on the cool side. It was completely cold before I finished, and I ended up tossing the last portion. They only serve drinks in paper cups, not ceramic mugs. Although mugs were visible, I was told the health department does not allow them to use them. For me, coffee in a real mug always feels better than paper. Service I have mixed feelings about the service. The person taking my order seemed a bit on edge. When I asked about the mug situation, she appeared annoyed that I would even ask. Since it was my first visit, I asked about the most popular donut, and that also seemed to irritate her. I rephrased and asked for her personal favorite instead, which she answered more willingly. I noticed a few other staff interactions, and the overall tone of the crew felt tense. Not sure if that's typical or if it was just a busy morning. Atmosphere I took a small table inside to finish my coffee and donut. There are several small tables, best suited for two people. Toward the back of the dining area there were boxes and pallets visible. This isn't necessarily a place you visit for ambiance. Most people grabbed a box of donuts and left. Only a handful were dining inside. If you want a good donut with creative flavors, this place delivers. Just don't expect a relaxed coffee shop experience with welcoming, friendly staff.
