Giving 2 stars because while the staff were efficient - the seating setup was inconvenient and beyond annoying- I was at the downtown location at the window table and it was essentially a lobby for people to wait six inches behind me while I ate. Not relaxing or fun - cram packed. I love a vibe and a great restaurant but this was headache and stress inducing.Staff were all super polite. Food was ok. There isn't too much on the menu here, so I expected it to be good. There were so many great reviews and quite the lines. I just wasn't impressed though. My son had a the breakfast sandwich and said was great. My husband had the waffle and bacon and he said the waffle was weird tasting. He felt they were trying to do something different with their batter, but he couldn't put his finger on what it was, but he didn't enjoy it. Didn't even finish it. I had their special, which was steak and eggs, and I enjoyed it. Steak was flavorful and cooked perfectly. Hashbrowns we're cooked good. Semi-classic, semi-bohemian diner atmosphere that is really nice. Mid-morning Friday there was a wait for seating. I just ordered their daily special, a three-scramble with crimini mushrooms and spinach along with hash browns. Eggs were delicious and cooked well. Hash browns were a run at classic crispy hash browns, and missed by a just a little bit -- some good crisp on outside but, instead of a softer inside, a little mushy and oily. But I ate them all just fine! The sourdough toast was also a star on the plate. Nice coffee, friendly service. Matt's Big Breakfast is exactly what it seems to be. Arizona!! What's really good?!? Me and my friends came here for breakfast today and it definitely hit the spot. Most of us had been up since 3:30AM this morning and my the time we got there(12pm), we were starving. We parked right in front and paid for the meter. The wait was about 10 mins or so to get a table and I already knew what I wanted: Eggs Benedict. The eggs were cooked perfectly. Each cut into both of the Benedict's resulted in a river of Golden gelatinous egg. It trickled down into the alleyways of Pork Chop Canadian Bacon and funneled into the Sea of Hollandaise...Sauce. Ugh the sauce people. The sauce was so silky smooth. Add in a little of their hot sauce and I'm in heaven. What a perfect way to start my Vacation! Oh!! Also try the Lemonade. It is friggin delicious. You can definitely taste the honey in each sip but still get the pucker you would expect from a good Lemonade. This was my 1st time eating here. My daughter has been raving about this restaurant for years. I mean EVERYTHING was 5 star quality! You can smell how delicious the food is going to be when you walk in the door! I eat pretty basic breakfast food, so I ordered pancakes & country sausage. The pancakes were soft, fluffy and delicious. And, I have never had sausage so full of flavor! My daughter ordered the Hog & Chick but replaced the bacon with ham. My mouth watered when they sat her plate on the table! I had to taste some of her food. The ham was cooked perfectly and was so tender. The home fries were to die for with rosemary & onions. I can't say enough about this restaurant. We're from Chicago but my daughter used to live & work here. Matt's Big Breakfast was so good. I discovered them during a recent visit visit when I looked up places to eat near Roosevelt Row. I didn't realize at the time that they had been featured on the Food Network. The atmosphere gives me farm to table vibes. I was a little disappointed that there weren't a lot of options on the menu to choose from, but they also have specials that you can choose from written on the board or you can ask your server. I went with the specialty pancakes which was a pumpkin pancake with cinnamon butter. To go with my pancakes I ordered a side of bacon. The bacon was a nice thick cut of bacon that would have made a nice blt. The pancakes and bacon were so good I ate every bite. I'll definitely come back to check them out. I did have to take away 1 star because the guy who was working the register wasn't the friendliest and he was multitasking while we were trying to ask him questions about splitting the check. read more

Amazing. Everything was delicious! Ordered the hog & chick. The bacon cooked perfectly. The toast and jam were very tasty. The griddlecakes I think took the cake though. Looking for a good breakfast spot in Downtown and Yelp led me to this gem. On a Monday morning at 10am I had to wait about 25 minutes for a solo seat at the counter. Good sign. I got the Hog and Chick and it was spectacular! The thick cut bacon was outstanding and so were the rosemary potatoes. Even the marble rye with strawberry jam was special. We just had a spectacular breakfast! Those are the same words I could use every time we are here. We were hungry for the amazing waffle with real maple syrup and their fabulous bacon. When we saw that the special today was biscuits and sausage gravy, we caved and both got the special. Cream biscuits speak for themselves. Gravy was more sausage than gravy - spectacular! Two eggs cooked to perfection. Hash-browns were crispy on the outside and buttery on the inside. The coffee cup was never empty. The servers were literally running at times to make sure every customer had everything they could have possibly needed. It's truly one of our happy places! Even though this place has grown over the years, the breakfast is still consistently great. Over the years, I don't think I've ever been disappointed. My only real complaint is that it would be nice if they would add your name to the waiting list by phone before you get there, because there's usually at least a 30 to 45 minute wait. The menu is simple enough, without being too complicated and provides a little something for everyone; they have vegan options as well. Great customer service. I love the addition of the grilled jalapeño. My friend didn't like his drink and they brought him a different one at no extra charge. Their rosemary potatoes are to die for!
