Few places match the deal at Matt's for happy hour! Arrive early and snag one of the bar seats to enjoy hearty, fresh $1 oysters, tasty crab deviled eggs, and an array of beverage selections. Inside Matt's, it's bright, clean, and welcoming. They have a huge parking lot, but the interior is quite small - hence the recommendation to arrive early for HH. In the off season, this is a great place to grab quick bite, a stiff drink, or a cold beer with a buddy. Don't skip out on an oyster shooter, too!

Matt's Fish Camp is a cute lil seafood restaurant near the beach. My husband and I stopped by for lunch before walking around Bethany Beach. The inside was very clean and well decorated. The servers are very friendly, quick, and knowledgeable of the menu. The food was pretty good. I ordered the grilled salmon with rice and beans, a daily special. It wasn't my favorite -- grilled salmon could've been cooked a little less and the rice needed more seasoning. But I tried my husband's blackened tuna and it was amazing! I also loved the oysters and the cocktails were strong. I would come back, but I'd probably order something else for my entree next time.

Extremely nice and clean restaurant. Exactly what you'd think of when you wanna eat seafood at the beach. All the food was delicious and well cooked. Servers were friendly and upon entering had a nice welcome! Would definitely recommend this place if you're in town and want some quality seafood dishes

Do you remember going to camp when you were younger the food was nothing to talk about. Well at Matt's Fish Camp is all you can talk about. Fresh seafood cook to perfection ( Shrimp and Grits, crab Cakes ) so good. A nice wine list, cocktail or beer selection to go with your meal. A bright and comfortable dining room or counter sitting, also outdoors seating is available, with good and friendly service. Ciao For Now.

How many hush puppies in an order?

They are like tater-tots. You get about 12.

Do they take reservations for outdoor dining?

They did when we were there last time. I don't know if things have changed in season.

The highlights (and lowlights): The service was awful: We arrived at 5:17 and were seated at 5:22. Drinks took 26 minutes to deliver and the order was wrong. My FiL clearly asked for a Pinot Grigio, but a Sangria was delivered. Cody, the server*, politely repeated that he ordered the Sangria, but that did not happen (my FiL drinks only dry wines). We waited to toast my in-laws anniversary, but had to wait another 7-8 minutes for the correct glass of wine to be delivered. There is no attention to detail in the dining room. The staff are on island time. The first appetizer arrived at 6:08--46 minutes after we sat down! At 6:20, I bussed our table. (After dinner, I bussed our table a second time). Even trying to pay the check Cody was MIA. He came by the table perhaps six times from 5:22-6:45. *There seems to be a lot of summer hires here--folks that want to hang out at the beach, but need to work to pay the rent. The training has be to incredibly minimal. I would guess no family meal, no 5-minute daily wine pairing rundown...basically no front of the house training. When the customer has to stack dirty plates and get a busboy's attention to grab them TWICE...not good, especially for the prices at Off the Hook. The food was quite hit or miss. The good: the crab bisque was excellent...really amazing! The scallop appetizer was also delicious with a base of grits and bacon underneath. However... The bad: we wanted to share the scallop appetizer and asked Cody how many scallops came with that. He said "three". The app was delivered with TWO scallops (Yes...TWO scallops for $19). They were not huge scallops...so 16/20 count. Wholesale, $18 a pound, less than a dollar each. To charge $19 for an appetizer with TWO scallops? Wow! The dish cost perhaps $3.25. A bottle of wine that retails for $15 is $30 in a restaurant. I get it, but marking up TWO scallops with some grits to $19 is insane. I asked the manager about the missing scallop. He advised that the entree came with three scallops--the app two. The entree was $39!! $39 for three scallops! If these were U/8 or U/15 scallops, I maybe could see it, but two 16/20 scallops for $19 and three for $39 is nuts. The pappardelle (appetizer portion) was completely flavorless. It was not cooked with any salt and pepper. It's not possible. It tasted like buttered noodles you find on a kid's menu. Adding salt and pepper at the table did little to fix it. My wife's pappardelle entree was equally bland. She tried mine. I tried hers. She looked right at me and said "There is no seasoning on this!". Yes, I know. My FiL had the salmon. He reported that is was tasty. While it was cooked well, $35 for an approximately 5 oz portion is again nuts. As a local, I really wanted to enjoy this meal. It was an anniversary dinner for my in-laws. $260 for four people with bad service and hit-or-miss food and these portions is not good. I'm not a tourist. I cannot forget to mention the flies. This is an INSIDE, white tablecloth dining establishment with $30-40 entrees, NOT a beachfront bar. 3-4 houseflies, accompanied by a gnat, joined us for dinner. Crazy. Bethany Beach, Delaware has limited options for dining and cars lined up 100 deep on the main road into town. This can be the only explanation for Off the Hook being so busy, so often. Tourists from NYC and Philadelphia don't bat an eye at paying $39 for three scallops.

I always appreciate when a business gives me insight like this. We promptly received our drinks and were informed of the specials, which all sounded delicious. We put in our order, and we barely noticed a delay in our food coming out. (But nonetheless we appreciated the heads-up!) I had the short ribs, and they were incredible. They were falling off of my fork because they were so tender! The mashed potatoes served with them were also great. The rest of our party ordered seafood, and everyone in the group raved about how good their dishes were. My only regret was that none of us saved room for dessert! Something that also truly stuck out to me: one of the managers noticed my grandma was cold and adjusted the temperature in the room in which we were seated. I know this isn't standard practice at restaurants, but I can't say enough how much it meant to us that the staff paid so much attention to us. I will summarize my three most recent visits in March during the off season on Friday's at 4 PM. We arrived at 3:50 PM prior to their open at 4 PM. Already two people were online. We waited in my Audi waiting for other customers to arrive. Other vehicles arrived around 3:55 PM so we exited my Audi to get in line behind the other two customers. When they opened at 4 PM we secured our favorite table for 4 to the left of the entrance. We were happy that Mike from his former Catch 54 served our table. We first met Mike here at Bluecoast back in 2021. Also Kelly from her former Off The Hook also stopped by to say hello. We enjoyed our dozen Chunu Virginia oysters. I also enjoyed my usual tuna poke for $15 with white rice, carrots, pineapple and jalapeno peppers. I ended my meal with a pineapple martini for $8. We returned here for our second visit with our friends. Since there were five of us we sat in their second booth on the right. Again Mike stopped by to say hello. I started with my margarita with salted rim for $9. Kelly delivered our dozen of the Chunu Virginia oysters for $12 to also say hello. I also enjoyed my two pineapple martinis for $8 each. I also enjoyed my tuna and salmon poke for $16. We also shared a bottle of Trefethen chardonnay for $58 with the Friday 1/2 price wine reduced down to $29. My total bill was reduced down from $143 to $114. Lindsay S. served us very well as usual. We returned for our third visit on Friday. We sat at the table to the left of the entrance. Kelly and Mike stopped by to say hello. I started with my margarita for $8 and ended with my pineapple martini also for $8. Again, I enjoyed my dozen Chunu Virginia oysters and my poke. Alexis D. served us very well. Customer service and friendship are most important. We will continue to return here for the off season happy hour.
