Wow! What an amazing experience! Husband and I are considering a relocation to Delaware and we're spending a few days exploring. We decided to try Matt's Fish Camp and we're so glad that we did! It was a bit crowded when we arrived and a manager wanted to seat us at the tiniest table in the place. We decided to sit at the bar. Not a mistake! Our bartender was very awesome and she was attentive without being intrusive. We loved her! She made us a wonderful pear flavored vodka martini that was epic! We got the onion rings and they are something to write home about. We each ordered a dinner and shared. Hubs got the cod (fish & chips) and I ordered the shrimp. My one and only complaint is that the cod portions have been reduced to half of what the older photos on Yelp portrayed. Instead of 4 pieces we got 2. There were plenty of shrimp (8). We just may move to Delaware and Matt's will be our favorite! read more

Went to Matt's fish camp in Fenwick and loved it so hit up Matts in Bethany beach and was equally impressed. Love the small little quaint space and open kitchen. We informed our server we were on a quick lunch and had to catch a flight. Just wow, super fast service, our food was out at the table in under ten minutes and was all cooked to perfection. Love that the menu varies slightly at each location. All of the dishes were delicious. Probably one of, if not my favorite restaurant in the area. Open for lunch and dinner which is wonderful as it can be hard to find good sit down lunch spots mid week around here, especially off season. Go to Matt's Fish Camp. You won't be disappointed. Usually love this place! We drove here from Lewes, instead of going to the Lewes location, because this location usually has the best brussel sprouts ever!!! Unfortunately the waitress told us they took them off the menu!? :(. These were not the usual brussel sprouts, they also had grilled garlic, chorizo sausage slices, and one time they even had grilled peaches in them! They were always amazing! Also, I was very disappointed this time because it smelled like strong Bathroom Cleaner the whole time we were dining. Always a decent wait to get in here so we were excited to try it. Staff were friendly and attentive. We had hush puppies, lobster rolls, fries, mac and cheese, kids grilled salmon. The hay puppies were a little undercooked and have had better. The huge disappointment were the lobster rolls. They had cold or warm, we chose warm which were supposed to be basically cooked in butter etc. Sadly when they arrived, they tasted of... nothing. Hard to know if they forgot to put any seasoning or whatever normally goes on them, or if the lobster had been frozen or similar. It was a good portion of lobster pieces but just bland and flavourless, and the bread it was in was damp from the veggie stuff at the bottom. The other food was ok, nothing great, my youngest kid was unimpressed at the small portion of salmon in his portion. It was about 2 inches square. Dessert was good - same as other in the chain we have been to. We had the vanilla cheesecake and kids had root beer float. The other problem was these big black biting flies. There were several outside which attacked our legs while we waited. We thought we would be safe inside, but when we sat down we noticed about 30 on the walls and ceiling. The server said she often gets bitten but it depends on which direction the wind is blowing from, which determines if they come in from the bay. I have been coming here for years and the food is great. Ingredients are fresh and cooked very well. It is classic beach food and has gotten better over the years. This time. I had the lobster roll. It was quite good and came with a nice serving of homemade chips. The only think I would have changed about it is maybe less lobster claw and more tail. I also tasted the blackened tuna and it was great and cooked to a perfect medium rare. All in all, if you want some good classic beach food, Matt's Fish Camp will not disappoint. read more

We stopped by here for lunch a few days ago. I left with mixed feelings. The New England clam chowder was disappointing. It had a lot of potatoes, I would say 40-50% of bowl was potatoes, it also had ham and not much clams in it, it was on the salty side. I would avoid. Other reviews say the same. The crab cakes ($42 market prices) was fresh, but tasted kind of bland to me. It was pretty much all crab and not much fillers. Just tasted blah. The fried clams with bellies was very good as was the lobster roll. Waitress was pleasant, she came by 4-5 times after we got our meal to make sure everything was okay. To me, that's a bit excessive to the point of annoying. Overall, I don't think you get your monies worth at Matt's. Expensive prices, mediocre food. read more

It comes with kettle chips so I upgraded to fries So, our first bite into the bread was a cold spot as the bread wasn't heated to well The crab dip was less than ordinary and it had claw meat in it, never had that before. Now for the crab cakes, way too much Mayo. The consistency was similar to the dip. The fries were cold and crispy to hard and terribly salty for my taste. I consider myself a crab cake connoisseur and this one will not make the list. The flavor was bland but mostly too mushy due to a lot of mayo. The check came in at $76. That did not make for a very pleasant dining experience. The lobster roll... Because I am allergic to iceberg lettuce (I know, crazy right?!?), I asked if they might have spinach instead, as the roll is supposed to have lettuce? Our waitress said no, but they might be able to do kale instead. Ok great! She went to ask, came back and said it would be $5 extra. What? For a tiny piece of kale? After a fantastic experience at the Matt's in Lewes we tried out the location in Bethany a few days later. The fried oyster platter at the other location was so good that we decided to get the same thing and then walk to the beach with our food. When we got there and started eating it was good but something was lacking compared to what we got from the Lewes location. The french fries were also noticeably inferior. Nothing we had was bad and the location of this restaurant close to the beach is hard to beat but their fried seafood as missing the certain special something we'd had a couple of nights before. I'll get this out of the way right now. If you vacation in Bethany Beach and fail to dine at this location, your a fool. The food and service are excellent. The appetizers like the Onion rings and the lobster deviled eggs are a sight to see! They have a healthy selection of seafood prepared in numerous ways to suit all tastes. They even have an excellent selection of wine, craft beers and even custom made sodas! I have had the fish filet sandwich and the fried chicken with bacon gravy and both had excellent presentation and taste. The servers are equally great. They routinely check on how the meal is progressing and were on top of keeping glasses full. I have dined there twice including today and I must say it is really a great location that can't be missed. We've loved this place and the Lewes location but am so disappointed and disgusted by what I saw this week. With COVID-19 I have been nervous to dine out, and have only been doing take out. We ordered for an 8pm pickup, and did not receive our food until 8:30pm - but that's not why I'm writing this review. While waiting that time in the car facing the carry-out window we watched staff members packed close together, some with masks down below their noses the whole time, sharing cheez-its from a box while in the kitchen, and touching their mouths and noses. After the last two, I did not see anyone wash their hands before they began touching the cups and silverware for the restaurant. I actually watched one staff member picking at his nose before sharing the cheez it's with other staff and moving on to touch restaurant equipment. These are gross restaurant practices even when we're not in a pandemic. We had already paid so we wiped all of our containers when we got home and reheated our food - but I won't be going back. Update*** added back a few stars for SoDel's customer service, they were not aware of the situation at this location and are going to work the rectify it. Great customer service from the overhead!
