My second favorite bagel in LA after Courage Bagels. Maury's still gets an A for me though, and honestly, both places are a little different. Courage Bagels are a little crispier and loaded with more toppings, but Maury's has softer bagels, and they also have blueberry cream cheese which is phenomenal. Parking is also easier here and the line is never as long as Courage. We met the owner today as well, and he was very polite. Today I chose the Lox Bagel on poppy, which I would highly recommend and the Blueberry Cream Cheese bagel on poppy as well. Both were fantastic and I already want to come back to try the rest of the options. I also ordered the Coffee Cake, which I enjoyed very much, plus they also have delicious orange juice as well. Did a staycation on the East Side and found Maury's. Holy cow this is THE BEST bagel in LA (maybe anywhere honestly). Authentically toasted and love the option for a darker toast. We had the everything bagel with scallion cream cheese and onion and another with just butter, perfection. You know it's a real bagel when you can't tell which side is the top vs the bottom cus every centimeter is equally covered with the seasoning. The closest I've ever had to this level of perfection was Wise Sons in SF. Plain bagel with BLUEBERRY CREAM CHEESE is out of this world and I cannot find it anywhere else. I've thought about this bagel every day since and can't find anything that even comes close on the west side. Now I'm researching how to try to make my own bagels which isn't really a solution but I'm desperate. Maury's is a quaint neighborhood deli smack dab in a residential area. To me this is a legit albeit pricey deli that I'd frequent more often if I lived in the area. After reading a few reviews about lines at Maury's I decided to place an online order. I was going to a friend's for breakfast and wanted to bring a few things to nosh on. I ordered the following: 4 Bagels and cream cheese (4/5) - I got 2 everything bagels and 2 zatar bagels. The everything bagels were the best. While I love zatar, it was just so so. The bagels were chewy and some of the best I've had in LA. Smoked salmon add on (3/5) - it was just ok. I would've been good with just cream cheese on the bagel. I don't think the salmon added much. Apple cake (4/5) - it was ice cold like it had been frozen or at least stored in the refrigerator. My friends loved this cake. We warmed it in the oven and it was perfect for breakfast. I would've preferred a fresh, warm cake (especially given the price) but I was glad that my friends enjoyed it. Challah (3/5) - another ice cold item. I thought it was pretty decent and liked the flavor. Again warming in the oven made it nice and toasty. But I would've preferred a freshly baked loaf. Ordering online is definitely the way to go to ensure you get what you want and expedite the process. My order was ready to go and packed well. Parking is on the street. Along with the bagels, some smears and additions can offer some tasty accompaniments. This can be quite a hearty meal or start to the day. I find the bagels here rather in smaller sizes and tougher in texture than I prefer. They are a tad beyond chewy and on one visit an example was nearly a day old possibly. Along with the premium pricing of nearly $20 for an open-face bagel with Lox, this wouldn't be a first choice although their ingredients are well prepared and high quality. I think I may have just found the best bagel in Los Angeles. Forget about Hank's, Bagel Boyz, Noah's, or any other place people claim have even remotely decent bagels. (To be fair, there are still a few "famous" spots in town I haven't been to yet, BUT, as of this review, Maury's is my leader!) Simple, straight forward menu of bagels, sandwiches, schmears, fish, drinks etc. I came by Saturday around 9:30 to a packed house, line out the door, and plenty of people picking up to-go orders. Really my only complaint would be the somewhat lack of seating, there are only 4 or 5 tables total and considering how big the sidewalk is on the main road, I feel that they could add a few more tables. I was greeted by an extremely friendly cashier who helped me pick what I was interested in which is the "I Love Fish" option on an everything bagel. That costs $18. One half has whitefish salad, cream cheese, cucumbers and onions while the other side has lox, cream cheese, red onion and capers. I also ordered orange juice at $5. This bagel is the epitome of what you find in New York (the bagel capital of the world). Crispy, topping-loaded crust with a dense yet soft interior. Each one is graciously topped with its relative options. I had never had white fish and so glad this was my "introduction" to it because it was creamy with bites of fish, flavorful, the cucumbers were amazing, great amount of cream cheese, and overall just one of the best bagels I've ever had. The lox were so incredibly soft, I was worried I'd be pulling slices of salmon with each bite but they cut through so easily and not fishy at all, the flavor was light and aromatic. I wanted to like this place but it was very disappointing. Overrated bagels that taste mid. Rude staff and takes forever to get food (45 mins). To make matters worse, they forgot to put lox on my bagel as ordered. I showed them and they insisted on giving me a side of lox rather than remaking the bagel with lox inside. The worker made a snide comment while I waited inside for them to remake it saying "If you stay inside here waiting it will take me longer to make it." :/ After finally getting my bagel I said thanks and left. Maury's and Belle's Bagels switch between my number 1 and 2 bagel spots I love. Maury's is a lovely bagel shop located in the residential side of east town. When I first came to this place opened, it was weird to see it in a residential neighborhood. The lines here could get long but not as bad as Courage Bagels which is not too far away. My favorite is getting a "number 8" - with an onion bagel and scallion cream cheese. The capers and pickled onions add an extra yum to the bagel. Their bagels are the right amount of crunch and the right amount of fluff. They have not let me down yet. The Vanilla Oat Iced Latte is also pretty good, not too sweet. If I want more of a coffee taste, I will just get the cold brew with vanilla and oat milk as you can't adjust the sweetness of the Latte. Parking is all residential and can be quite challenging depending on the time of day like any LA store you go to. read more

The kippered salmon bagel sandwich on an onion bagel is incredibly delicious! It does come with quite a lot of cream cheese which is great because it is so flavorful. The sandwich was very fresh a must try. I also tried the whitefish bagel sandwich which was good but not as good as kippered salmon. On my quest for good bagels, I've discovered Maury's is one of the better bagel places in LA. The food is fine and lovely: Their triple pickle is nice with added lox per their suggestion, but the Mori (in my opinion) needs more of a wasabi hit in the promised "wasabi tobiko". That being said, in spite of my having eaten here a few times, nearly $60 for 2 bagels, an iced coffee, and a carrot orange juice is borderline ridiculous. Staff is friendly though, I'll give them that. PARKING: Parking is a challenge. May the force be with you. Be prepared for a good walk walk unless the gods are smiling upon you. Decided to visit this Silverlake bagel spot after watching a TikTok about it, and it did not disappoint! I loved the variety of lox bagels they had, and you can tell that they made their bagels fresh everyday. Everything about the bagels were great down to the cream cheese -- it's texture was a lot lighter and fluffier than normal store bought cream cheese that really made a difference for the sandwich. Did you know real bagels are boiled? Also Maury's boils their bagels. They have some amazing bagel sandwiches here. I did not see a sort of classic breakfast bagel sandwich here (eggs with sausage etc) but they do have the traditional fish and cream cheese bagels. Tons of options. One thing of note is their open face bagel is still both halves with cream cheese and fish on both sides. That's why it's at a higher price point as well. I had the open faced kippered salmon on an everything bagel. Generous amounts of cream cheese and hot smoked salmon. Service was pretty fast at 9am on a Sunday morning. I imagine any other time later might be pretty busy like most hot breakfast food places in LA but I was in and out in 15 minutes. Customer service ruined my favorite spot. I get that it's busy and wait times can be extended. But figure out someone new to run that window. I had multiple people served that ordered after me and after 20 min wait for 1 bagel I asked if it was ready he said "sorry about that it should be next up."
