There's some that are pretty expensive but some that aren't so bad thankfully. Anyone can find one to their liking. There's of course the classics like martinis. A happy hour is on weekdays to save a few bucks. It's about $12 for sangria. We got the Caribbean Coconut Sangria. Good to help cool off when it gets hot. This is made with coconut rum, lime, pineapple juice, and white rum. Lots of rum in it. There's also a food menu. A few snacks on it basically. It's about $5 to get sides like pickled watermelon. Food: I did not order food during this visit. However, most people (especially couples order the cheese and meat board. It is customizable!) Service: I was a little confused about the seating because once you walk in isn't a sign or prompt about if you should wait for a server or hostess. I ended up seating myself at the bar since there was some seating. I came in around 7:30 pm on a Saturday evening and there was about four seats left. It was pretty packed when I arrived. I would suggest coming a little early to find preferred seating. Once seated, a bartender acknowledged me by stating she will serve me once she was done with a few cocktails she was making. I waited about 5 minutes for a menu. The bartender was very sweet. I looked up the menu online so I knew what I wanted. I ordered three cocktails. All were delicious and bitter. The bartender was good about pacing to check in with me (about 15 minutes or so), they do give you a bottle of water if needed. 5/5 Ambiance: the facility is small. The bar seats 12 people and about 22 people at tables. Again, if you are coming with a group I would come early (I am not sure about reservations). The music was more pop with a crowd around 35+. I have nothing but great things to say! I'm so excited to find a local restaurant that prioritizes quality of their food and where it's sourced. The menu tells you exactly where all of the food comes from. The drink menu is extensive and filled with cocktails, a great wine list, and even sangrias. The "build your own charcuterie board" definitely caught my eye as well, although I didn't order it. I was feeling a lil bit particular, so I asked the bar to make me a mezcal margarita with fresh fruit purée. She offered to make it with fresh raspberries and it was delicious. My friend ordered the sangria with kiwi, wine, tequila, and a few other things (I can't remember the name). For food, we ordered the hummus and I was able to get a side of gluten free bread. The hummus and bread were absolutely delicious. I would come back just for this. I didn't get to try it, but my friend also loved the beer cheese and pretzel bites. We sat out on the patio which was served by just one waitress. Although we waited a bit for her to get around to us, I wasn't bothered as we were enjoying talking and enjoying the nice weather. I am visiting I from out of town, and looking for a special place to go with my mom. This was a phenomenal experience, well beyond what I expected from the greater Joliet area. The mushroom dip we purchased was incredibly tasty, and absolutely the right pic for us on this evening. On future trips to town, I'm definitely excited to try out some of the other food items. Their pulled pork looked great, too and I would love to try it out. Delicious cocktails at reasonable prices. I loved my seasonal cocktail, and my mom had a great experience with their grasshopper! For overflow, they direct people to the brewery next door, where you can wait halve a beer and even bring that beer back with you when they have a table open up. The service staff there were incredible. They did a great job of explaining the menu, walking us through questions we had about items. We were looking at, checking in on us regularly to make sure that we were happy with what we were having and make us feel welcome and able to order more as needed without feeling pressured. The owners were also really awesome. One of them checked in on us while we were eating and was very warm in her interactions with us, the other thanked us as we left and welcomed us to return again soon. If I remember correctly, he suggested we come back the next day! I can't imagine there is a better cocktail restaurant in this area, and even in a large city. I would definitely keep this on my regular rotation of places to visit. The charcuterie board we had was good however there were not enough crackers to spread the cheese that we had purchased. The food was good and we asked the manager Jenny if we could have a few more crackers she brought more crackers, and when we looked at the bill, it was four dollars for the extra crackers, which was ridiculous. She did not have the authorization to take that off of our bill and the manager thought that it was OK to do that when it's not on the menu and when they don't tell you how much they're gonna charge I don't think that's OK even though it looks like a nice business and the food is good. The food is pricey. The drinks are pricey, and the fact that they would be so picky over four crackers is ridiculous. We could've bought a whole package of crackers for that. I feel places always skimp on the portions and it is the exact opposite here. The portion sizes were incredible and the meats were to die for. We did the Holy Cow & Sopressata for meats & goat chèvre, Vlaskaas & blue paradise for cheeses. Everything was simply delectable. The owners are absolutely the sweetest, kindest souls that were warm and friendly during our visit. There were tons of drink options but I opted for the pumpkin spice Marini.. It also seems to be a very well thought out design (and we like that) Once we got our food and drinks..... - "this is REALLY good" (polish plate) - "I can't remember the last time I was so impressed with something after just the first bite" (steak tartar). Seriously. I can't explain how DELICIOUS it was. I can't wait to have it again. - "holy crap! try this!" (Mummy's milk Halloween special cocktail) The moment we realized we had stumbled across a true diamond in the rough is when I turned to my boyfriend and said I'd like to return for a special event like my birthday, where we could try the entire menu. From the moment you open the door, you feel something is different. The staff greets you with a warm welcome and a smile. Everything floor to ceiling is elegant, and the inside of this inconspicuous space in a small-town strip mall is dressed to the nines. At first glance, you see the bar lit up and simply beautiful. The back bar is filled with quality, as they say at Mauve, "Libations." All this before you even sit down. I decided to sit at the bar and was instantly greeted with another warm smile, a freshwater decanter, and the menu. Mauve's menu is full of craft cocktails, high-quality spirits, and mouth-watering food choices. One of the crafted cocktails was an Old Fashion which I ordered. I have some cocktail years under my belt, and I have to say that Old Fashion was spot on. The rest of the menu showed of not your average suburban spread. Spread meaning food, one-word WOW! Both Mauve Chefs have a long line of exceptional pedigree, and they have put together a fabulous revolving seasonal menu. The food items I ordered were like the cocktail outstanding. To sum Mauve up, it is an upscale Adult gathering place, not a typical townie bar. No loud TVs or 22-year-olds slugging Coors lights, no restless younger children (I love kids, but sometimes... you know ya just need a break). I have returned several times, and the experience has nothing but grown on me. Give Mauve a try and treat yourself to luxury in rural Illinois at a small town cost.
