I ordered tires on a Friday afternoon and made an appointment for that Sunday. I was a little bit apprehensive that the tires would be there that soon. The representative at Mavis called me before my appointment on Sunday to tell me the tires came in and confirmed my appointment. They put on the new tires and told me I needed new front break rotors and pads. I had remembered the front rotors where only resurfaced 7 months prior by Honda and my car was already over 50,000 miles so I agreed. When I asked about the rear rotors and pads he said they were brand new (which they were, I just wanted to test him to make sure he was being honest, which he was). The cost was accurate to what was quoted. It was a little pricey but much less then the Honda service center would charge. I have to say I am happy with the communication and the service. read more

I have discovered the 10th ring of Dante's Inferno of Hell and it is the Mavis Tire Center on Northern Boulevard in Great Neck. I had set up an appointment online to get my tires rotated. I was told by the person working behind the counter that it would be a 90 minute wait. After waiting 90 minutes I was told that it would be another 90 minutes. The person working behind the counter seemed to be taking too much pleasure and enjoyment out of providing bad customer service. I took my keys back and left. 90 minutes wasted. No apology. I half heartedly asked for an apology too but he refused to offer any sympathy. Horrible customer service. Nasty people with bad attitudes that take sick pleasure out of holding their customers hostage and providing long waits and bad service. Find another Mavis because this one is ghetto. read more

I blew a tire on the highway on my commute to work and the tow truck driver asked if I'd like to go to Mavis. I said sure, not being familiar with these situations. What a great plan! As soon as I walked in I was greeted courteously and shown my options. I was told the repair person would be in shortly (it was 8 am). I was there for about an hour and a half before my car was ready to go. I was 2.5 hours late to work but all things considered that wasn't terrible and I had a very good experience with AAA and Mavis, both experts in what they do. Without a doubt they are both incompetent and crooked. Unskilled workers in the back, con artists upfront. I've had so many bad experiences here. It's convenient to my job, but I'm done with them. Went with my wife to get an inspection sticker. Our appointment was for 3 PM. Got there at 2:45 PM. This place is under poor management. The staff just stand around talking to each other calling each other. Yo this yo that. The inspections should only take 10 minutes the most to do. I have never in my life experienced such horrible customer service. No one should ever treat a customer this way. This was all management. The manager Albert was extremely rude and does not know how to run a buisness. He deserves to be fired!!! DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME COMING HERE!!!! My father is an old man and came here in hopes that Mavis would help fix his tires. One being flat and the other shredded. He was told to leave his car there on Monday that they were searching for his tires and would give him a call. We returned the next day to only be told they couldn't get them and they didn't offer any resolution or another tire that may be used. I asked Albert if someone could please just put the spare on for my father since he is too old and I am pregnant and unable to change a tire and he said it would take three hours that others were ahead who had children, mind you I also had my infant daughter with with. My father reached out to a client of his that owned a body shop and found a new tire that Mercedes was using for his car because those tires weren't being made any longer. As my father began to write down the information Albert rudely said to my dad that he was taking up space on his counter and needed to leave. My dad asked why I'm writing down the tire information for you so you can order them apparently he thought my father was ordering them from someone else. At this time we were now purchasing 4 brand new tires instead of the original two we needed so that all the tires would be the same. We were told to return at 3:00/3:30 that the tires would be coming in then. We gave the shop a call and then were misinformed that no our tires wouldn't be coming in for another two days. Thankfully again we were misinformed and were told that they were coming in today and they would give us a call when they did. Around 4:10 we spoke with someone on the phone who told us the tires had arrived and we had ten minutes to get there if we wanted to be serviced. We rushed there arriving at 4:18 to be told we needed to wait an hour. With a screaming baby in 95 degree weather we patiently waited. My dad checked in a few times just reminding them where we were waiting and he said not to worry. At 5:30 my dad was approached and they told him sorry we can't help you our shop closes at 6:00pm. I didn't understand why they had us rush there and why did we have to wait to be told no once again. I was so angered we left and I ended up parking down the block and calling my husband who is a city Marshall who normally deals with this type of stuff. He spoke with management on the phone for 45 min as I sat and waited. It was now 6:15 I was told to come back that someone would help change the spare on the car. We started to pull the spare out of the trunk and the garage doors all started to close. I went to knock on the front door which was locked and as you can see it is a glass door. Albert sat at the counter as you see in my picture. I said hello my husband was just on the phone with you we were told someone was going to help us and he just yelled sorry we are closed sorry we are closed sorry we are closed in the most distasteful tone. I said please don't speak to me like an asshole. He didn't care that I was a pregnant woman with an infant or that my father was an old man who needed help. He just left us there without a care in the world. This isn't management and he doesn't deserve to have a job here. If Mavis really cared about their business this man would be fired. Appointments are meaningless. Made an Appointment for purchasing 4 tires and installation days in advance. The appointment was on Sunday. Showed up on time. I was told it will take about one hour.. after one hour of killing time locally, I checked on the status and they told me it will longer and they can't tell me how long. I asked what should I do? I had an oil and filter change on 2/6/2021 at Mavis Great Neck. On 5/26/2021 the red "low oil warning light" came on and the engine was making a loud rattling noise. I had the car towed to Mavis. Service representative Albert told me that the problem was a cracked oil filter which he replaced. I told him that I was concerned that the engine had been damaged and I wanted some sort of "incident report" in case there was a problem in the future. Albert refused to be of any help whatsoever. He would not give me any documentation in writing. Instead he tried to change the conversation to a chip in the windshield!!! When I tried to get the conversation back on topic, Albert abruptly hung up on me, saying he was busy now and he would call me back later. That was 5 weeks ago. I am still waiting for his call. I wrote a letter to Albert in Great Neck and to Mavis' corporate office in Millwood, NY. I did not get a reply to either letter. I recently made a complaint to the Nassau County Dept. of Consumer Affairs. There are many, many other places to get an oil change. I will never go back to Mavis whose culture is to ignore and disrespect customer concerns at both the local and corporate level. read more

And I had gotten a flat, but had NO indications how (nothing in the tread). I was told when I called I could just drive in. And when I got there, they were busy; two hour wait!! To check a flat... Maybe twenty minutes later the tech who set me up (I neglected to get his name) calls me into the shop to show me my tire pressure sensor, and the sidewall damage (I drove about 150 feet on the flat, but he had to put it into my file because of the warranty). I was in and out, with a rotation, in a little over half an hour; yeah, the initial estimate might have been to make the job look better. But it was still a decently quick job. The guys handling the phone and the desk were especially helpful with everyone. They took my old tires off the wheels before first checking that the new tire were in stock! This is after my car was at the shop from 10am Saturday. Finally got it back at 7pm with no work completed! I had to go back another day - Wednesday - this time less than 3 hours. They have very poor organization and scheduling; They have no idea how to manage a busy shop; new tire delivery was made and they were piled everywhere - in and outside of the shop. A shambles. I had an exceptionally good experience at Mavis Discount Tires in Great Neck today. I am recovering from a badly broken leg and hobbling around with crutches. The pain was especially brutal this afternoon -- but my car needed new tires and I couldn't procrastinate any further. Thankfully, a man named Albert assisted me today. Albert saw that I was struggling to keep my foot elevated in the waiting area and he instructed the repair crew to begin working on my car immediately. When the car was ready, Albert brought my car around to the front of the shop and made sure the driver's side door was as close as possible to the front door of the shop. He not only went "above and beyond" to assist me - but he did so discreetly, so I wasn't embarrassed. I would give the shop "five stars" but the furniture in the waiting room has seen better days. Its time to invest in a few chairs and replace the busted television. read more

A great place to fix your car! I was told that Mavis is good for fixing cars, so I went to their website to make an appointment first. Picked the items I wanted to get done.(tire change, oil change, and brake pad change) I could pick the tires online based on customers' reviews. Unfortunately I needed slightly bigger tires than the ones I chose online, but this Mavis location already had good ones for my car in stock. Tire change/balancing/alignment, oil change, and brake fluid flush(they checked the brakes and found that the pads were no problem but the fluid was) were all done in 2 hrs. I paid a bit more than what I expected, but so far I am so satisfied with their service. p.s: Make an appointment online or on the phone if you want your car fixed asap! read more

Called in advance to pick up tires for 2 days in a row. Got a simple answer "ok". Arrived to pick up tires about 40min-1 hr later around 11am, was then notified that the tires will not be arriving until 3pm in the afternoon. It took an additional one hour to get replacements from another location. I couldn't even get the car inspected because 'the machine' is out of order. Then i call and explain situation they put me on hold to mess with me 4 times playing games with me on the ohone then at the end they said let me see if someone can help put spare tire on and then he puts me on hold for 30 min then hangs up on me then. Summary: 3 Stars for friendly staff & clean bathrooms, but 2 stars for experience. I came on a slow Tuesday afternoon to get a tire plugged and mounted after running over a screw the day before. The staff was friendly and social as they checked me in. After viewing the flat tire, they quoted 25 minutes to take care of the issue. After two hours wait time my vehicle has not been touched. Two other customers ahead of me have been waiting the same amount of time for an oil change. I can't speak for a typical day, but today it seems the crew is not motivated to work efficiently. No one on staff seems to be communicating or directing the shop crew. I considered waiting at home not too far away, but they assure me they will be done soon. At least they have clean bathrooms and water available. There is a Shell station/mart and Dunkin very close for caffeine & snack needs. read more

Never- ever- again!! Brought my 2016 Mazda6 with 45000 miles(I drive to Florida 2-3X's per year) in for a brake check and oil change. Told the guy-sorry no name- I forgot the coupons. And asked if I needed them. Was about to download from internet. He said no need. Standard change for oil change is $19.99, but recommend standards for your car is to use synthetic. I said no thank you and he went to a phone call that he was in the middle of. Left my keys and said I would be back. Gave them my cell phone, and said to call me when ready. Tony called about an hour later and said the oil change was done and after checking my brakes, tires, & shocks; could not find anything wrong. BUT; according to your high mileage, you are past due for a brake flush. I politely said no thank you. He pressed and repeated and continued to say if I had it done @ dealership it would be more costly. I again said no thank you. My husband in the background said, "Tell him you have a plan." I repeated I'm not going to have that done now. And without anything else- he hung up. I called back, & asked him was my car ready? No apology, Just,"it will be ready very soon." Got there and as they were trying to charge me $81... (Had to ask the price 3x's) for a synthetic oil change and filter- My husband walked out of the bathroom. He stated- she's asked you for a regular oil change, and you gave her what?! He started back peddling- O we can fix that... Walked out another 20 mins later paying: $37.52. After checking for several hours at the end he told me it's not available and he quoted me $1228 for Continental brand which I said I don't want. He said he can order Pirelli for me which is even better than Bridgestone but it will cost me $1750. I agreed to take the Pirelli tires. He said he has to order them and once the tires arrive he will call me to bring my car in. I took my car today to change the tires and after they changed the tires I noticed they are Continental. I tried to explain to the front desk person that I ordered Pirelli but he rudely told me that system says Continental. I asked for the manager and the manager came and told me that I ASKED FOR CONTINENTAL NOT PIRELLI!!! I ordered the tires the day before and I tried to refresh his memory with the conversation we had but he look into my eyes and said absolutely not and I ordered Continental. HOW CAN HE LIE SO EASILY!!! I asked for my old tires to put back on and then his worker started cursing me out and he said he will not change the tires and left the store. He came back after 30 minutes and he said it's lunch time and he is going to lunch and the manager told him "take your time". I asked them how long will changing the tires take and he said I have to wait 2-3 hours! This is by far the MOST dishonest auto shop I've ever been to, and that's saying a lot! I went to this place since I had a tire that hit a road hazard and exploded. They quoted me a price; looked great! If that's all I paid, everything would be great! Unfortunately, they started tacking on charges like wild. Alignment $80 and couldn't opt out, insurance $80 couldn't opt out, tire removal fee $30 nonnegotiable, sensor refurbishment $30 mandatory. And like the sucker I am, I agreed to ALL this stuff. So once I left my keys with them, I was told 3 hours; I come back three hours later to a car that hadn't moved an INCH! I ask whats going on, and tell them that they'd already had my car for 3 hours. They tell me that the tech who had my keys left to lunch and put my keys in his locker before he left. I then see Albert and Tai, the manager on duty, looking up and down for my keys. I'm talking in the garbage can, in the dumpster, under the phone. They waste another 30 minutes of time and the key is finally found in Albert's shirt pocket. My car would've sat on the lot all day if I hadn't sat in front of them and waited... Finally, they said it would take another 2 hours to get it done and offered me a free oil change...No thanks, I'd rather not deal with this place again I took my car and business elsewhere and I suggest EVERYONE STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. read more

At 12:30 I called to check on my car, it was 'ready' but I failed inspection because of my brakes (mind you my car has 19,500 miles and was serviced 3 months ago). I already have an appointment for regular service and just came here for inspection as it's nearing the end of month, and my appointment t is after the 1st. FIRST ISSUE Went back when I had nail in a tire; dropped the car off, and 40 minutes later went back, paid and picked ip the car. After discussion it was clear THEY NEVER FIXED THE TIRE IN THE FIRST PLACE. They apologized and repaired the tire. SECOND ISSUE just went back, slow leak in a tire. This time I was told the reason ALL the tires were low was I needed: suspension, breaks and rotors? What? Avoid at all costs. I've been here for 3.5 hrs waiting for a wheel alignment. They've yet to begin the job. For the past 1.5 hrs, they've told me that they will start in just a few minutes. I've asked for my keys a few times and they've said each time that the guy will start. Boils down to terrible management. I could have gotten this job done closer to my home much quicker. In fact I wanted to leave to make it in time to have the other place take care of this. But these guys tried to convince me to stay. They simply could have told me that they were in able to get the job done in time. They said there's only one wheel alignment machine and the guy was having trouble with a truck he was working on. Took a long time to get that done. They convinced me to stay by saying that the guy wasn't taking a break and would get to my vehicle immediately. 20-30 minutes later I come back with a cup of coffee and my car is still there and the alignment guy is missing. Turns out he took a break! The mechanics are doing their own thing. The reception staff are nice but there needs to be a manager who can get the mechanics to work more efficiently and relay accurate info to customers. By the time this is done I would have been here for over four hours. I've come to this location a few times before. They were slow but not this slow. Also in November they told me I needed a new battery but it's still running just fine for the last 6 months, and went to my dealership for inspection and service and no one mentioned the battery nor have I had an issue.
