Not happy with their service and not honest with the labor hours to do warranty work. They attempted to make it sound like it was a bigger job then it was. When questioned by a knowledgeable customer, the services manger got very defensive and rude. After reading others reviews I decided to leave not worth the aggravation. read more

My mistake for not checking Yelp before going to Mavis in Pawling. Ended up here on Saturday after calling them and being told they had the tires I was looking for in stock. They also told me that they were busy, but "things were moving along." Got there Sunday morning 20 minutes before Mavis opened and was the second person in line. Was not told they still had several cars left to complete from the day before. Watched the first person to arrive that morning ask how much longer it would be and was told he was next, only to have other people's cars be brought in ahead of him. At least one of these was to put on the proper lug nuts as the customer asked them to be switched to a new set and they failed to do so. The manager at least gave her a free oil change. Waited over 2 hours and then was told they were short a technician and had a back log from the day before. Not sure why if they were that busy they had a technician walk next door to return parts to Advance Auto Parts instead of providing customer service! My mistake for wasting several hours here at Mavis instead of driving the hour to Pep Boys in Connecticut whose prices are significantly better! Tim M. read more

3 Strikes and you're out. Strike1- went for snow tires on Nissan with 22,000 miles, they claimed I needed brakes. I went with it because he said they had a special on brakes. lost it when they came back and said I needed struts. 2 hours later looked at brake pads and they weren't even 25 percent worn. Factory strut still good 40k later. Strike 2 - wife's BMW had a nail in tire, slow leak claimed couldn't plug because bla, bla, bla. bought 2 new tires and tire tech didn't remove a wheel weight and machine dragged weight half way around rim scratching wheel also claimed air sensors needed batteries. refused to change them and 2 years later still not dead. Strike 3 - bring 2 classic cars in for inspection. watched guys fight who drives in classic corvette. kid drives it in and hits a stack of tires with car. I confronted technician doing inspection he tells me without even looking at other car it failed because factory window tint on top of windshield is not allowed in NYS BTW while talking to him he's sitting there eating dinner on counter. Next day went to another Mavis for Inspection and told him about tint and Manager said Pawling Mavis was Wrong. He then showed me rules on tinting and explained tinting of windshield is not allowed except for factory tint on the top 6". read more

This place is the worst! Last 4 times I have called to make sure I can get my car in for a simple tire flat or replace tire - I was told either to bring it in a certain time and I'll be out quickly or just bring it in now- I specifically told the manager that I have had issues in the past and I don't have time to wait- I realized they have a problem with that- I live 3 mins away- every time - I get there - they say-I'm sorry you have to wait 20 30 mins to get in- and every time I say - that is why I called to begin with! One time I called for a tire that they said is in - and when I got there - they said no - it never got there- but I called to make sure ! And u said it was! Ill never go there again! I took my son's car in August 3rd for brakes and inspection. It took 6 hrs. They either did not change the rotors or put on defective rotors. I took the car back in about a month later and they supposedly replaced the rotor. They did not, it was just as bad as when I took it in. When I took the car in for a rotor, the stereo was working fine. When I picked it up the very next day, the stereo was dead. This is no coincidence. I've never had a car radio just suddenly go out after being at a repair place. So now I am out another 600.00 because I have to take the car for a stereo and to someone I trust for rotors. One more thing, they replaced all four shocks and now the car is squeaking. It was not squeaking before they replaced the shocks. So done with them. They won't even get my business for tires. read more

BEWARE...for all my friends out there, do not use Mavis in Patterson ny, I had my struts and springs done there, a couple of years ago, only to find out yesterday from another mechanic that they are still the original parts, and are shot. 10k miles proves it wasn't done. Another time my bil went in with a plug in tire we circled it, they put "new" tire on,2 months later with a flat again, take off tire and the circle is on the new tire too...... read more

Don't use Mavis in Pauling scam artists. Went in for an oil change. No problem except they told me my battery was very low and needed to be replaced in fact counter guy says "looks like its the original battery" wanted 100 bucks for new one. I bought the Battery from Auto zone 5 months ago brought it back and had it tested, fully charged. Either Mavis is that stupid or trying to sell you stuff you don't need. read more

Scheduled an appointment online for 4 new tires only for the appointment date to change after finalizing. Called the store right away to resolve and reschedule my appointment. I was told to arrive at 9 when the shop opened, and I did. On the website it clearly states to allow 3 hours for service. I was told by Tom who I assume is a manager that My car would be worked on in about two hours and that my service would take about an hour. I was fine with that as I figured it would take three hours based on the website. I came back to the shop to check on my car around noon, and was told it would be another TWO HOURS until it was done. Still, I went about my day and waited to pick up my vehicle. At two I received a call that the tires I had requested were the wrong size. ( mind you the day before I had given the man on the phone my year make model etc. so there was no reason for this mistake, that was blamed on me.) I didn't get the call until three and called back asking about my car. I was told it would be done by 4. Keep in mind, I was the third in line and scheduled this service and I had now been waiting 6 hours for 1 hour of service. When I arrived, I watched Tom throwing tires off of a balcony in the garage down to where both my car and other customers cars were. He saw me and held up his finger telling me to wait as he continued to toss tires around. When he finally got to the desk he asked me what car I was picking up and I told him the make and color, as there were only three cars left. He walked around leisurely looking for my keys as if I hadn't just waited all day for this to be done. And then brought keys to my attention which clearly said Honda, not the make of my car. Then after finding my key, proceeded to tell me that my car wasn't finished. When I asked what was left he said the tires. THE TIRES WERE THE ONLY SERVICE I WAS GETTING. He then told me he was thinking of the wrong car and that mine was done. Then after I paid, told me that they had been understaffed and again blamed me, this time for not making an appointment! I DID! Long story short, I will never do business with this location again. This location having a two star rating is generous to say the least. read more

Very rude service and FOUR attempts to get an inspection. Brought vehicle for inspection right when store opened. There was an issue with the connection and associate said "can't get it to read. I have no idea why. Could be any number of things..." and told me he couldn't do the inspection. So, I took the vehicle home and found a bad fuse. I replaced it and brought it back for another attempt. Same sales associate. He took it in, plugged it in, came back with my list of failures to which he said, "you could've been honest with me from the beginning and told me that you weren't gonna pass. You have several sensors that can't be read!" I was very taken back by his remark, but apologized and told him that I had no indicators lit on my dash and I would take it home and take another look. On my way home it dawned on me that I had just replaced the fuse and the computer needed to reset! Ugh. Okay, my fault, but no big deal. I put about 80 miles on it, stopping at Mavis in Brewster to make sure I would be good to go, and they said I was all set. (Side note on Brewster- I go here ALL THE TIME and never recieve crummy service- they are AWESOME. GO THERE! But there were problems getting their system online and they couldn't help me, bummer). I went back to Mavis in Pawling- same guy. I told him how I replaced the fuse and the computer had to reset, so I drove it for about 80 miles and we should be all set. He corrected me (pretty much interrupted me) stating, "that's not nearly enough miles! I'm not even gonna plug it in. It's not gonna pass." Whoa, man. I told him that the guys at Brewster would've had it done if they could get online, so, try again. He did. What do you know, it PASSED! Thought so. Oh, & right before he put the sticker on, he asked "you replaced the fuse? Was it the same fuse as the broken cigarette lighter?" So much for not knowing why it wouldn't work the first time we tried this! Here's my money. Goodbye. Also, the bunch of times I was there, I noticed that several people came in concerned about wobbles in their tires, and the same associate told every single one of them, "It's just snow and ice in the rim. It's because of all the snow we just got. Trust me. It'll handle itself as you drive it." Never once did he offer to take a look to be sure... Good luck if you ever go here. I live right down the street from the Pawling location and I prefer to go to Brewster. I suggest you do the same. read more

Slowest service in the world!!! Even with an appointment over 3 hours waiting for tires to be replaced. Nothing more. And it is freezing in their waiting area. They also try to tell you other things are wrong when the truck was just in for service. read more

I just took my car into Mavis for an annual vehicle inspection. I've also had new tires put on my car at Mavis in Pawling New York. Both times the service was excellent. The professional staff got my car in and out in a short amount of time. I highly recommend Mavis. read more

I was contacted by Mavis Corporate about my comments, they told me the manager of the Pawling location would be calling me. He did, a very nice and helpful man. Apparently there was a change in management shortly after my first issue in March with Mavis, as you can read by my reviews we did not discover the other issue until mid May. The manager was extremely apologetic and refunded me the entire amount of my original bill. He also is investigating the situation, apparently they have video of the shop and can review my repair. While we can not overlook the lug nuts were loose and missing, he did make an effort to remedy the situation. read more

The WORST place EVER. Had an appointment for 9:00 AM to get a simple OIL CHANGE which normally takes 30 min or less. Got there a couple min early, but my car was not done until 3:30 in the afternoon. There was no apology for this extremely rude experience. I deserved compensation for my ridiculously long wait. The customer service for this place was horrible. The manager on duty (Jesse), although he started off nice, treated me as if I was nuisance to him before it was all done. I was having aftermarket wheels installed, that's it, not mount/balanced, just installed. Unfortunately they didn't fit, but Jesse made sure the ENTIRE store knew that! He yelled across the store in an irritated voice "did you not try these wheels before bringing them here??? THEY DON'T FIT YOUR CAR!!!" and then walked off. Now everyone in the store is looking as if I'm an idiot. Granted, although the wheels didn't fit (which I found odd as they came off the exact same vehicle) anytime I asked for suggestions or advice, the answer was "I don't know man you're on your own." I was trying to ask about snow tires!!! But they completely wrote me off! The guy behind the counter (Larry) was just as bad with EVERY customer. He didn't look any of us in the face whenever we talked to him. And each person that approached the counter, he said "what do you need?" (not 'how can I help you?' or even a greeting for that matter!) without looking at them and while typing on the computer. When I tried to ask him about tire sizes in general his answer was "you can get your tire size for your car on the inside of your door" and walked away. Not sure if they just hate working on Sunday's or what, but this place is the worst with customer service!!! read more

I have used these guys for about a year and a half. i had spent a substantial amount of money between tires, alignments, changing snow tires, oil changes etc. last visit they told me I was overdue for an inspection and that i would need brakes to pass. I did not have time and they did not have parts this so I went to a different mechanic near my office. turns out brakes were fine - actually new - and i passed inspection. when confronted the mavis guys did not have this in the system and said I actually needed struts and shocks? they then went on to reduce their brake quote from $270 to $190. wow. something shady. read more

I just went to Mavis Discount Tire in Pawling, NY for the first time and will make it my LAST TIME!!! I had a 9am appointment for 2 new snow tires ... 5 1/2 hours later, I finally got my car (with the 2 new tires). Although the staff was friendly, very little communication came from them unless I asked. Another customer was there (and waited just as long) and after he left, he returned 5 minutes later to report his left tire was veering (pulling) the car to the left; obviously service wasn't completed. This is not to mention another woman who came in earlier and absolutely ripped into the store manager about the issues she was having since picking up her car. Obviously the garage was short-handed (Help Wanted sign posted on the outside of the building) but a little communication would have helped. Live and Learn! read more

Ok I had some work done on my car in April and had my husband's friend come with me so I wouldn't be taken. I was satisfied at the time in April with the service and the desk guy was helpful and he explained everything in detail and I received a receipt. Well, this was not the case today. I had stopped by this location because under the circumstances of the April visit my husband had been hospitalized so I waited about 10-15 minutes while Larry at the desk finished up some things and then asked if he could help me. This is where everything went downhill. I was told that he couldn't give me another receipt but could look up the history and then I asked if I could have a copy emailed to my email address - he cut me off and told me that he didn't have my email address, which I would have gladly given him if he weren't so rude to me. It ended with him asking me what the license plate number was and I ended the conversation by stating that I would contact Customer Service and he said "OK". "Larry" was rude and gave me the impression that he couldn't be bothered to help me with this simple request after I had spent almost $500 in there in April. Sadly, not sure if I ever want to go back there and put myself through another session of rudeness. I have been working in Customer Service for a very long time and I think that rudeness needs to be left at the door before you start the day working with the public. read more
