I write this from inside the store as I wait because of my dissatisfaction. A great friend of mine bought me a set of tires, gave me the receipt and said, go to the store with the receipt and they will put the tires on for you. Awesome! I go there Friday at 5:30, they said we close at six come back tomorrow, we need an hour. Ok, I get it. I came back Friday at 3:30, they said come back tomorrow morning at nine cause we close at 5 and they have two hours worth of cars left. That is annoying. I come in Sunday morning at 9:15. The garage is full of cars 15 mins after they open, I assume from the last night. They proceed to hem and haw about the fact that the guy who sold the tires to my buddy shouldn't have done that. But they agreed to do the job. Ok... I go sit down and then overhear the mechanic tell the cashier that they aren't going to make any money on the gift certificate job. I later ask if mechanics get commission on tire jobs and he says no. Ok... Then how are they not making money in this? Maybe the guy who made the deal made a mistake. If so... good on them. I hope that he actually puts the lug nuts on because I pick up the same vibe as I do when at a restaurant with a waiter who you KNOW is about to spit in your food even though your pretty nice to them. Another customer with a Dual-ly Ford Pickup asks if they rotated the tires and two workers said absolutely not, you can't rotate them. Ok... Maybe I'm an idiot but a quick Google search screams yes, rotate your dually tires... They put the tires on in 1 hour 20 minutes. The staff seem knowledgeable but overly self assured. They lack good organization, the manager complained that tires were everywhere in the parking lot. I would not recommend to a friend. read more

My better half made an appt to get a brand new car inspected. The appt was at 2:30 and they finally saw him at 4:45 after he requested they give him keys back so he could leave. An appointment clearly means nothing to them. I told him not to go there as both other cars we brought to them for breaks required a second visit for poorly installed breaks/ridiculous break noise. We came to do a NY Inspection and they tried to sell us new tires and windshields when they were still good, plus they also wanted to charge us $500 more than we actually paid somewhere else for brakes an both control arms for our car. I was truly amazed at the customer service I received at the Pawling, New York store on May 2, 2022z. Juan, the employee that helped me, not only personally walked out to my car to take a look at the issues I was dealing with but made the time to address them and take care of them with a smile and with efficiency. The issues I had were about odd: A heat shield had come loose and was vibrating at low speeds and a mechanic - not a Mavis tire mechanic - had left a screwdriver stuck in the air conditioning vent of my car. I went in not expecting to be taken care of because I know it is often busy in the store but, to my surprise, both of my situations were quickly handled. Juan and his crew are awesome! read more

I was quoted by Brianna $1,500 for new tires, rotors and brakes. She stated it would be $1,500 most not including the discounts they provide. I made an appointment and wound up being hit over the head for $2,000. I was told rotors and brakes would be roughly $100 less than they were and was told that was due to only the "premium" parts being available. However I was never consulted about this and just charged! I feel entirely taken advantage of and I am embarrassed with my decision to go here. I will be paying this bill off for months which seems abusive to clients. I do not recommend this establishment to anyone unless you have no problem spending unnecessary money and frankly, being lied to. read more

Great place to get extorted. Came in for an inspection on a lightly used vehicle. Was quoted $1,100 for new brakes and rotors (which were replaced less than a year prior, and for all intents and purposes were relatively new). After refusing service, the price dropped $300. Management made sure to have these conversations away from the floor and instead pulled me into the garage so no one would overhear. When I chose to not have the work done they pulled the inspection sticker. Which would have been fine, if there was a legitimate issue. Instead, I took the car to a trusted shop and received the inspection for a fraction of the price. I don't think NY state would be very happy that a licensed inspection agency is extorting customers on an inspection so that management can receive commissions. I'll be reporting the business and management to the DMV, BBB and consumer affairs. read more

I made an appointment 2 days prior for an inspection on Friday. I drive 30 minutes to get to my appointment 10 min early. After waiting for 25 minutes, i politely ask how behind they are running for my 10 am appointment, now being 1020 and my car was still in parking lot. I want to thank Mavis and the gentleman who saved my family trip to cape cod today. We were just getting on the road when I noticed a small nail in the tire. After telling me it was unrepairable and my tire is not in stock anywhere near bye he said He patch it so I could go on my trip and replace it later. But after telling him the tire pressure was the same as the rest of the tires he double checked and much to my surprise the nail did not go through the tire! I've been to Mavis for oil changes, wheel alignment and balance. Price was fair, nice waiting area for customers - complimentary wifi - water, coffee .. Overall nice and they have excellent prices and they do price comparison. Haven't done much more with them though I was thinking tires, but they offer like a 3 month warranty on all their work. Sears offers lifetime - I've always been a Sears guy when it comes to my car. But Mavis might be good for all the other stuff. read more

Had new tires put on March 9th of 2021 and I retorqued them to 110lb specs on the same day after putting 50 miles on. On May 14 I noticed a rotating thud sound coming from the back end. I checked the tires and all looked good including the log nuts. Thought it was the fabric wheel well hitting the frame so I adjusted it. Same sound the next day and then on the 16th on the way home I pulled into the grocery store and looked at the back tire. 3 lug nuts where gone and the studs broken off, the 4th was loose and the 5th was still on tight!. Checked all the other tires and they were fine. Had to get the SUV towed to Mavis because that is where I got the new tires from 6000 miles earlier in March. Needed new studs put on and it was suppose to be 2.5 hour job per the standard labor charges. They said the studs where extra long and had to take apart my hub to have them installed. I had to rent a car to get to work which sucks because the rental companies are hosing everyone on rental prices right now. The next day they fixed it and charged me for 4 hours labor!!!!!!!! I asked them how is it costing me $598 for 5 new studs (they replaced all 5) and 3 new lug nuts with Labor when the standard labor is 2.5 hours? They said they had to do extra work which took longer. I thought they had to go by standard labor hours not what took them so long? Yep they fixed the problem but over charged me way too much. I'd say that my experience with Mavis at both this location and New Milford, CT have been pretty good. The crew knows what they're doing, the prices are on par and everything gets done in a timely manner. I think it's a nice feature that you can schedule an appointment ahead of time if you like to ensure that your vehicle will get in when need be. I have had no issues with anything while working for them. They've also brought to my attention a few items they felt (notice, i say they felt) I would want to get taken care of. I have experience working in an auto shop, so when they bring such an item to my attention, I ask if I can go out and they show me what they are talking about. They have no problem with this. I haven't had the Pawling crew perform any work on my vehicle yet, but I have had the New Milford location, and they did a fine job and their price point was reasonable for their service as well. Why do I come back?? Simple, a great price on oil changes and tire rotations. (well, you can't beat the price on a tire rotation if you purchase tires through mavis, b/c rotations are free for life). I started off giving these guys 3 stars, but with my research into prices of labor, and prices per tire, and the helpfulness of these guys, I'll bump it up a little. And by the way...they'll be slow if they're busy, but who wouldn't? And yes (this is because of other reviews I am reading) they are going to point out items that may be of concern to you - you don't have to buy if you don't want, BUT it is THEIR job and moral duty to point out items that could be possible safety issues - it is up to YOU to make the decision if it is something YOU want to fix - don't hate on a guy for trying to do their job! read more

This has to be the worst shop I have ever been to. Do not go here or any mavis for that matter. I tried to go and get my oil changed early one morning and called before I went to make sure there wasn't a wait. Guy said "come on in well take you right away". I get there and turns out there's a 3 hour wait just for my car to be looked at. I accept it although I was annoyed, my car is taken in after the 3 hours and I wait another 4 hours for AN OIL CHANGE. My day was completely wasted. The help is rude, takes a lunch break while looking at my car (I watched them sit and eat pizza for an hour). The desk has no idea what they're doing, they lie, and they push wipers on you although I told them I just bought new ones. Got the tires on my Toyota Sienna minivan balanced in Dec 2018. The worker at Mavis did not tighten the lugnuts when they replaced the tires. I'm cruising 75 mph down Rt. 95 when I hear a noise from the wheel getting louder and louder. I pulled over to find 3 lugnuts on one wheel lose to the point of falling off, and 2 on another wheel about to fall off. Thank goodness we weren't killed. What a disgrace!!! This company should be ashamed of not only their professionalism but of their work ethic. My family has been a loyal costumer for years bringing them our 5 cars and recently had nothing but major issues with tire alignment, correctly putting on new tires and even putting away a spare. Sloppy and unprofessional work all resulting with accidents on their behalf ! When brought to their attention they are at a loss of words with little compensation or empathy. I wouldn't be surprised if they go out of business. You are dealing with peoples lives when you work on an automobile, a business that should be taken very serious to provide the safety of others. * I can not stress this enough, if you leave this place please double check their work. My tire flew off my car on 684 just two days after my SECOND revisit to correct their poor labor ! After going back to them twice within 10 days, My car resulted in $1700 in damages due to them not putting a tire on correctly, a small price to pay for thankfully not being hurt in the accident. I had to wait for about 5 min for the guy to come out to me at front desk. Slow service and they don't really seem to care.

So I brought my Nissan Tuesday to have my tire sensors replaced. When I received my car back they told me the sensor light would still be on but after I drive it for a few it will go off. I drove it for a day, the light never came off. When I called back they told me to bring it and they will put it on the machine to clear it. So on Sat, the 16th So now I have to waste another day of my time and I bring it in, he says the my front two tires sensors need replacement all of sudden. So after waiting all day, they replace the sensor and of course after I leave the sensor light goes back on. So today I bring the car back FOR THE THIRD TIME. I am the second person in line, there at 9 o'clock the guy at the counter "Adam" had an attitude about it, and shook his head like I was inconveniencing him, but told me they will check it out and it will be a couple of hours. I should have known from the attitude he gave my car was going to sit there all day. So I gave them more than an couple of hour and I call at 1 the car still has been looked at. I asked him will my car be ready by 5 he said yes. I called back at 3 the car had not been looked at! I was furious. I was the #2 customer I was there first thing in the morning. When My husband decided to go back at 4:45, The car was still in the place I parked and had not been seen. The place closes at 5!!!!! The guy Adam was like oh you want me to put it on the machine now? It was 4:45?!? Why was was car sitting around all day?! So all day I was inconvenienced without a car and the only reason they were even going to look at it was because we showed up. they kept jerking my husband and me around about when my car was going to be looked at! They were the ones who allegedly replaced the sensors. Good business would be to look at my car bc I already had to come back twice for something they "fixed" but instead they don't even bother even looking and when I called twice gave me the run around. And what's upsetting is I paid for them to fix my sensor lights and they light is still on. Terrible service and terrible customer service, next time I'll go to the one in Brewster. buyer beware. I have always had bad experiences with Mavis. In Poughkeepsie I had a guy leave a wrench attached to my undercarriage, my boyfriend has as well but Mavis in Pawling was okay two times when I went here but today I was totally put off by Jay. I called and asked if they had a part for my muffler and he said yeah bring it in. I went there snd the other gentleman Tyler took my info I gave them a list of what I needed snd he said sure no problem and he'd call me when it was done. I got a call about 5 hours later saying it was done. I went back snd asked if they would dispose of the old pipe that broke off that they replaced that I called about initially. He said we didn't replace that, we don't have it. Why did I drive all the way there snd waste my whole day if they didn't have the part that was the main reason I went there?!?! They had two opportunities tell me this snd no one did. Jay was rude snd just walked away. I will never go here again. They did not do two out of the four items in my list. I was happy they were open on a rainy Sunday and that they had wifi in the waiting area.I chose one of the private little computer stations so my waiting time flew by as I watched Netflix. The job coordinator was very knowledgeable and courteous.he was happy to explain the differences between my previous car and my new hybrid car.
