The workers did not give me the "online discount" (for a set of 4 tires) they advertise for scheduling service online. This supposed "discount" also required a $25 deposit (not a big deal in itself), but what is the point of leaving a "deposit" if they don't honor the discount? The tires were supposed to be $137.99/each, but they charged me $150/each. Further, they didn't even get to my car until two hours after I had scheduled the service. They also don't provide a written estimate or final bill, which they email to the customer. A rather sketchy place. Don't go to Mavis unless you're absolutely desperate for immediate service. Mavis is exactly what their BBB reviews show - 1. In an effort to help an elderly lady friend who needed a repair to her vehicle, I went to Mavis with her and told them exactly what needed to be done. Provided pictures and was told that they would take care of it. This was an exhaust repair. I have 45 years of experience in the industry and had them perform the same task 3 months prior. We left the car and 30 minutes later she started getting calls to have additional repairs done. She told them to do exactly what we brought it there for. She picked up the car thinking the repair was completed as requested. I put the car up on my lift 2 weeks later to make repairs and found they did not do what they said and charged her $300.00 to replace 3 bolts that had already been replaced. We tried to work it out with the location with no satisfaction. I tried to contact corporate and found this to be a trend with Mavis as there is no easy way to contact them. If you're going to buy tires, need tires replaced, etc., this is the ONLY place to go. Last year I researched the tires that would best fit my BMW Z4 as a more seasonal replacement for the stock "run flat" tires. So when I went into the store, and spoke to Joe, the manager, I knew what I was talking about as far as what performance and wearability I expected. He was very helpful and I did purchase 4 new tires. Months later, in the dead of winter I brought in a tire that continually was losing air but not totally going flat. Not only did Joe remember me, and my BMW, he fixed the tire free of charge. It needed a plug as a result of a small nail puncture. Here it is another year, and I need 4 new tires on my winter car. Again, I did my homework and knew basically what I wanted in an all season radial but with superb traction and wearability. Joe ordered the tires for me, and also told me of a promotion the company was having if I applied for a special credit card. I just dropped off the car for 4 new tires, an alignment and an inspection, and had originally told Joe that he could keep the car the entire day, but the person dropping me off is now unable to get me back there this evening. Without hesitation, Joe said he would "do his best to get the car done this morning." If this isn't a display of superb customer service, above and beyond in customer relations, then I don't know what is! Go see Joe and his team...you won't regret it!!! read more

Where do I start to explain my horrific experience with this buisness??? I set up a new tire appointment and an inspection on March 13th for 4 oclock march 16th and paid a $25 deposit. On March 16th I arrived at my appointment and was told that the hydronic lifts were not working and that their inspection machine was down. Why wasn't I given a phone call?? A new appointment was made for the 19th at 4. I showed up st 3 o'clock on the 19th and left my car there with the expectation that I pick it up within 2 hours. 10 minutes before the shop closed at 5 I recieved a phone call from the manager saying that he could not get my car in that day buy he would do it first thing in the am when they opened at 9. At noon the next day I went to Mavis because I still hadn't heard from them. The front end people knew nothing of my car and the manager left for the day. They called the manager and he said that my work order was hanging on a clip board and it had to be done except he did not communicate this to anyone so if I hadn't went in, it would have hung there unattended all day. Now I am frustrated. The front end workers tell me that my car would be done in 1hour. It was my birthday so I left to go to lunch and said I would be back. An hour and a half later I get a phone call and am told that they now do not have inspection stickers and....they don't have my tires!!!!!!! They never had them but the mismanagement of this place made it so they did not know that until 3 appointments later. They were only sent 1 tire from the manufacturer. Livid, I go to retrieve my car that will never see this mess of a buisness again and ask for my deposit back. They can't give it back and of course, the manager is not there. They go into the system and post a return to my account. I made sure that I recieved a reciept because at this point I don't trust that they van get anything right. Here I am today, 9 days after the 3rd unsuccessful appointment and 9 days since my refund has been "returned" and I just got off the phone with my bank. The deposit was never returned to my account. Now I have to go back to this $hit hole and demand my money back, again. read more

They slashed three of my four tires and they did not want to accept their fault. Instead of placing the machine next to the rims, they placed it on the tire and broke them. I took them to Goodyear and they told me that Mavis/Cole didn't use the right placement in the tires and that it was definitely their fault. The manager of this location told me that he didn't care what other tire specialists have to say about it. They gave me some excuses and offered me a discount on new tires. When they did this on my summer tires they did not tell me about it. They put them on bags, put them on the back of my truck and after winter storage I noticed my slashed tires. The least they could've done is tell me about it. There's no honor in this place. I cannot trust them after this betrayal. Let me start my review by saying that I'm a better than average wrench on my car and motorcycle. The only reason I went to Mavis in Webster for tires was because I don't have a balancing machine in my garage (sadly, but then again...). On the positive side, I will say this. Joe, the shop manager, is a VERY nice guy. He is proactive, he called me and communicated with me to tell me that my tires were going to be late due to the massive snow storm in Buffalo. No problem, Joe. Thanks for the call, buddy. Keep the car overnight, just lock it up. Mavis' tire prices are lower than than the competition. Tire World, Dunn Tire, Goodyear, BJ's Wholesale....Mavis has them all beat. Add in the sales tax to the final price and you're even with the MSRP at every other tire reseller. Now factor in lifetime free wheel rotation (if you want it) and the roadside warranty (if you want it) and you've got the makings of elevating your "savy shopper" status. HOWEVER....and I raise the following concerns because: A) I'm extremely OCD in my general lifestyle and B) I have a special affection for my car Whomever mounted my tires: A) Got their black boot scuff marks all over the door sills of my immaculate biege interior and couldn't be bothered to even try to wipe them off. B) Could not be bothered to put the wheel lug nut key back in its proper position under the trunk next to my spare tire. Instead, this individual just dumped it into my center console and left it there. C) Couldn't even put the trunk back together again properly by locking down the lid on the spare tire components and the trunk deck lid. D) Completely ripped up a lug nut cover when said individual either removed said lug nut cover or put it back on, to the degree that it was completely shredded and cracked in half. E) Racked up 8 miles of distance on my odometer....YES, I ACTUALLY CHECKED. I WROTE THE ACTUAL MILEAGE DOWN WHEN I DROPPED IT OFF ON A POST-IT AND STUCK IT ON THE ODOMETER AND SOMEONE STILL DROVE MY CAR!!!! I'm sorry, but 8 miles is not a tire check, it's a free ride home at the end of the day. UNACCEPTABLE. Had it not been for the fact that I ALWAYS do a full walk-around my car every time I drop it off and pick it up from someone I'm paying to work on it, I would have been completely hosed. Yes, Joe and Ray bought me a replacement lug nut cover, but that was it. There was no explanation on the additional mileage or why the spare tire compartment was not put back together. In my book, that is not standard customer service practice. At the very least: 1) Don't drive the cars! If you need to proof the tire mounting, 1 mile is sufficient, not 8. 2) Give the door sills, steering wheel and driver's door frame a quick wipe-down as part of the process. 3) Put EVERYTHING back where you got it from. These guys are paid by the hour, anyway, so give the car back in at least as good shape as when it was dropped off. I certainly didn't drop it off with my trunk all F-d up and the lug nut key in my center console. If you want to save a few bucks on your next tire purchase, you can't beat Mavis Discount Tire for the pricing, but be warned..... You will have to clean up the mess they will leave behind yourself because they won't do it.. read more

I go to Mavis on Empire Blvd with anything that is within the scope of work that they do, for our 4 vehicles, have been for many years (back when they were Coles). The reason I would recommend this shop to anyone, is the manager, Joe. He really gets what great customer service is all about and is able to instill those values in the team he has created there. I consistently get great customer service at a fair price with Joe. There was a time when they moved Joe to another store; I tried the Empire store w/o Joe once; what I nightmare. Fortunately upper management saw fit to return Joe to this store and they have regained me as a loyal customer. I would find it hard to believe that Joe would have been involved in the situation with the Lady who rated 1 star, due to brakes being disconnected during a tire installation, or maybe there is more to the story. read more

Been going to this location since 1991 for my mufflers when it was just Cole Muffler and Brake. Joe runs a clean shop and is always able to get to the root cause of a problem. Hard to find a shop to trust now a days but this one is the "go to" shop. I have gotten tires twice here since it was Mavis and both times the experience was exceptional. First time bought the tires on line and had them delivered and installed here. Second time was a walk-in and they fit me in for fast and courteous service. I highly recommend this shop. read more

Terrible people......... bait and switch sales tactics...beware! We had our Lexus inspected at our neighbor hood reliable shop. It did not pass because the tires were worn and one rear brake rotor had some rust pitting so they suggested a rear brake job with new rotors too. They quoted $245 for the brakes. Our mechanic said it would be a week or more before they could get to it so he suggested using a local tire store for faster service. We called around and received pricing from a couple local tire stores, all were pretty much the same with mounting and balancing packages included. Mavis quoted $435 + tax for 4 tires installed (all in). Since they were close to my wifes work we figured they would be the most convenient so we scheduled to have the tires put on the next day and to do an inspection figuring they would find the same issue with the rear brakes and have them quote the repair to see if we have it done there or later at our usual place.They said they had (4) tires in stock and would set them aside for the next day. I had asked the person who had quoted me if it was possible to pay over the phone when the work was completed, he confirmed it was no problem and confirmed with the front office. I also asked for a quote to be emailed to me and gave him my email address. He said no problem, plus the quote is in our system under your name with the tire hold for tomorrow. I never received an e mail quote. The next morning I stopped at the location to pay for the tires and inspection in advance because I was going to be working out of town for a couple days figuring if I was not available at the time of their phone call it would eliminate any issues. The man at the front desk said he could not take payment in advance because the inspection could not be invoiced till it was put in the computer. So I confirmed with him that the vehicle was arriving around 2pm and that they were to do the tire install as quoted and the inspection only then call me for payment. He agreed. My wife stopped that day after work for the install. Service manage said they only had (2) tires in stock and it would be an hour or two before he could go to another branch and get two more. They said to return the next day and they would put them on then. They blamed the national sales desk for the issue, even though I called that facility for the quote. The next day she stopped after work and had the tires put on and car inspected. My wife and I had discussed prior to not agree to any additional services at that time other than the quoted tire install and inspection because she had issues in the past with salesmen selling her things that weren't need so she was very leery. I received a call at that afternoon " were calling for payment of $621. I said that is more than I was quoted why. Well we did the tires, then an alignment, plus vale stem service, plus the inspection, plus balancing. I said there was no alignment necessary and the valve stem service and balancing was included in the mounting package I was quoted. He said well we asked your wife about the alignment and these things and she agreed. I said the old tires wore perfectly and no suspension work was done so why align, that's not what I wanted. He said the tires showed uneven wear so it needed to be done. I asked my mechanic later if that's what he had seen, he said it was BS, the tires wore perfectly even. He looked at the adjustment points on the suspension and said nothing had been touched anywhere to adjust the alignment, Dirt was still on anywhere they would had touched. I then asked what he found with the inspection. He said we needed new front and rear brakes plus wipers which would be just shy of $900.00 and that my wife would come back tomorrow for that work. I told him to stick it, he is playing games and to do nothing else. He said pay the $621.00 now and she can go. I reluctantly paid and followed up with a call to my wife who was crying when she answered the phone out in the parking lot. I asked what had happened and she said she did not tell them to do anything other than the tires. They also told her she had to return for the brakes. I am waiting the week and taking the car back to our normal mechanic. Hi pressure tactics, bait and switch with the pricing and unscrupulous when they think they can get away with it. I suggest go somewhere else where they are honest and upfront. read more

I will not be going back here. I bought 4 tires and an alignment. The tires were supposed to be at 38 psi per car manufacturer and the car tires came out the door at 30 psi. I was told by management that the tires being inflated Incorrectly would not affect the tire wear. Maybe I was told this because I'm a women and they think I don't know anything, but my exhusband is a mechanic. I received no printout that the allignment was ever done, which ALL businesses give but they didn't. I was still charged for the alignment. I was ok with all of this, even though I was upset, because I know things happen and people make mistakes. The next day I got a call from the management aaron, who I had no problem with the day earlier, who was very confrontational with me on why I wrote a bad review. Really !!! very inappropriate and poor customer service making someone feel threatened because they gave a bad customer review. He continued to make excuses saying their machines only pump air up to 35 psi and by the time you core the tire they loose air. This is why he stated there was only 30 psi in tires. I have never bought tires from a company that did not make sure the correct psi was in the tire after putting tires on vehicles. It is not ok to have tires inflated to 30 psi when they should be 38 psi. My ex husband, a mechanic, stated they probably assumed tires were small on a small car so they only inflated to 30 psi and didn't look at the door for proper inflation. Not only was the job done incorrectly, then the manager tried to give me a line of garbage trying to make me feel like I was overreacting, then charged me for an alignment I don't know I got, then called me and was confrontational because I gave a poor review. The manager did say I could come back and have alignment double checked. First off, I shouldn't have to do that because it should have been properly documented the first time along with proof of numbers and how alignment was off. Second, I would never go back there with how confrontational Aaron was on the phone with me. It made me very uncomfortable and now I don't even trust him or his staff. read more

I trust Joe and the team at Mavis Discount Tire with my vehicle under any circumstances. My entire family and my girlfriend have brought our cars to this location (Truck's, SUV, Crossover, Car). Whether it's a routine oil change, (very reasonable in price by the way and better than other's I've been to) tire rotation; or if it's higher end maintenance like a wheel bearing replacement, brake replacement, sway bar replacement etc, the team at the Webster Mavis has gone above and beyond. I appreciate that I they give me their professional opinion of the scenario. I have never felt that they've over priced me, forced me into a repair that was not needed. That goes a long way in my book. They're great at keeping me in the loop when it comes to discovering something else with my car and giving me their opinion on the situation. What else is great is that even though they're always packed with cars that need to be fixed, they always manage to get my car back to me in a reasonable amount of time. Again, this is a shop that cares for their clients. I'm a client for life with this team. They've treated my family very well over the years with their service. Professional is an understatement. I got a flat tire on The Continental Cruiser (2005 Pontiac Montana) and off I went on my first venture to Mavis Discount Tire in Webster N.Y.. It was about 35 minutes to closing time when I got there but that was no issue for these cats. They found me two Cooper 70,000 all weather radials and had me out the door in about 25 minutes. I loved it! Tires look good and I was back in business. I thought Mavis was a little more pricier than Dunn but it was a whole lot faster and a much nicer work environment. I also got a coupon for $10.00 off a oil change which I will most likely use. The jury is still out on this place and I will be updating as I move forward with these guys but for now I give Mavis 3 solid and shiny rubber stars and I will be returning to do more business with them. read more

Never had a good experience with mavis the workers there are nice but it seems as if they mess with your car or lie to get more services from them to make their sales quota I brought my car in to get an inspection and other work I knew I had to get done but they tacked other services I knew I didn't need but they said had to get done in order to pass my inspection because I just replaced those parts myself 5 months prior. When I spoke to someone over the phone to tel them I was getting my car towed else where they said that my car was in the bay about to be worked on and I never agareed for them to fix it again and give them another 300 on top of the 450 I paid a day earlier I spoke to a friend that used to manage a different location and he said exactly what happened was a common practice because they do have strict quotas that need to be met. All in all I will not go back there even if they offered free oil changes or even an ac charge. Rather go elsewhere. read more

As others have written about Mavis on Empire Blvd, don't go there expecting an honest evaluation of what work is required on your vehicle. Brought my car in for an inspection and after a few hours received a call and was told that the car could not pass inspection for a few reasons. I was told it needed the right side inner tie rod, the left side outer tie rod and the back brakes. He seemed bewildered when I said I will be down to get the car and take it home to fix the problems. I do all my own mechanical work on my vehicles and was not going to pay $1200 for them to do the work. While I was there I asked to see the technicians notes so I could take a picture of what they had written and I was told I couldn't see them but he would tell me what needed to be done. He told me the front brakes were low but would be ok for inspection. The back brakes needed to be changed along with the left outer and right inner tie rods. After I got back home I received another call and was told they had gotten in touch with the manager even though it was the manager's day off and had magically gotten the price for the work down to $900. In hind site this was an, I need to make my quota offering. Still was not going to pay $900 for the work. I was skeptical about the right inner tie rod being bad because I had already replaced it less than a year ago. When I got under the car, the left tie rod was indeed bad, but the right was as good as new. I proceeded to change the left side tie rod and the back brakes and scheduled a follow up visit to have the car rechecked and get the inspection sticker. When I dropped off the car I spoke with both the manager and the person that originally explained what needed to be fixed and told them what I had found and the work that I did. They both said ok and nothing else. On my way home I received a call from the manager stating that the car would not pass and the front brakes and all four rotors needed to be changed to be able to pass. And again this is completely different from the initial assessment I was given about what was needed to pass. So because I didn't have the original work done by them, they change their story and tried to have me pay for work they said initially was not needed. Went back and picked up the car to take it somewhere else. Very deceiving! Will not do business with them again! read more

I took my car in for an oil change and tire rotation which you would think is basic work. They called me and also tried to tack on several other items to up my bill which I declined. I went in to pick up my car and found out that my oil change was $77! Never have I ever paid that much in my life at mavis and I've gone to several of them in the past! Then they tried to tell me well it's because it's synthetic and this that and the other. Then they tried to blame it on me saying I didn't specify that I wanted just a basic oil change and tried to turn it around on me. I've never had to specify in the past either. I advised them that currently I don't have a job (thanks to covid) and wouldn't be able to afford that. I told him I've never paid that much for an Oil change ever and he looked it up and saw that I was paying closer to $30 when I said $20 for an oil change and tried to make me look like I was lying and tried to give me grief about that too. I looked in my paperwork and I truly did pay $23 dollars in the past so I was not lying at all! The guy I was dealing with was very standoffish and arrogant and combative. If they had gone back and seen in my history on their computers and saw what I had gotten before they wouldn't have had that issue. Or when they called me to up-charge me they should have specified which oil I wanted then too and never did. Nor did they ever ask me at the counter what I wanted so all of that was on them when they had several opportunities to clarify. They discounted it reluctantly (but not very much) and that is still no way to treat a customer! He easily could have said for the misunderstanding he could have charged me the price for a basic oil change. It's just like when you go to a full service gas station and they fill it up with premium without even asking. At least gas stations ALWAYS ask first so maybe mavis should take note and not blame the customer the way they did! This is unacceptable because even when I got the "discount" it still wasn't even really a discount at all and they tried turning everything around on me the entire conversation about other things as well! I worked retail and I know how to treat a customer and this 100% is NOT how to. I will be doing my own oil changes from now on and saving myself at least $40! Don't go here because they will full on take advantage of you and then make it your fault, somehow. read more

Based on all the positive reviews we decided to try this place out. In the past I have always maintained my vehicles at the dealership. Upon arrival I found the rep very knowledgeable and friendly. He showed me an Off brand tire, and was almost half the cost of the original. Obvious choice. The issues start here. 1) apparently they do not balance the tires when installing. Above 40 the car shook like a clogged lawnmower. Took it back and they did correct. But the fact was it should of been done correctly the first time. 2) tire rotations are free with the purchase. First time in same thing happens and the car started violently pulling to the right. Manager asked to bring back so they can correct at no charge. Again get it right the first time. I may purchase here again, but no way I will allow them to touch my car again. read more
