At first I thought they were very helpful and patient when one of the mechanics at their Coleman Village location told me that he couldn't get the tire lock off my wheel because the tire lock key was not in my car. The guy even said that he went to another Mavis tire and picked up a whole bunch of different tire keys, only to find that none of them worked. So after waiting over 2 hours, the head mechanic finally comes over and gets the bolts off the tire immediately - his comment to me was that the other guy "didn't look hard enough." So I take my car to the Volvo dealer today to get the tire locks removed (to switch out for standard bolts), only to be told by the service manager at North Point Volvo that my tires do not have locks! There are little pop-on silver covers over the bolts that pop right off to reveal the bolts underneath. There are no tire locks on my car! The mechanic didn't know tires, and he didn't know how to use the tools.... If a guy who changes tires doesn't even know the basic information, ie, Changing Tires 101, that is downright scary, and unacceptable. I will not return. read more

My truck had a flat tire over night. I ordered two new tires for the rear since the fronts are relatively new. I scheduled an appointment to have the tires installed. I scheduled the appointment because I am a busy adult (more on that later). I had the vehicle towed to Mavis early to make sure it was on time for the appointment and I drove to the store to talk to them about my appointment a few minutes before the appointment started. I let the gentleman know that there are two flat tires. One on the vehicle and one in the back hatch (loose, not mounted to anything). The wheels with flat tires get the new tires and the spare that's on there with the non matching tire is to go in the back. The new tires should be on the vehicle, not in the vehicle.Again, just throw it in there. Nowhere and no need to mount it to anything (easy). The work was done quickly and they called and said my vehicle was ready. Nice. I get dropped off and notice the spare, non-matching tire is still on the vehicle and one of the new tires is in the back. Ok, someone made a mistake, no big deal. I let them know and they fixed it pretty quickly. I wish I could tell you this is where my story ends. I wish I could. It's not... The next morning I noticed one of the new tires was pretty low. I checked, 19psi. Very low. I checked the other new tire, 25psi. Also very low. I took it to put air in the tires and checked the valve stems. They looked old. Much like the ones I brought my vehicle in with when the tires were being replaced because THEY WERE THE SAME ONES!! I could hear an audible hiss from the air leaking out of the really low one. I had no time. I took it back in and the guy at the front desk was nice enough but let me know that it would be 2 hours. I asked him why the valve stems were not replaced to begin with and he said that wasn't company policy, that the customer had to request new valve stems. He said it adds time they don't charge for. I explained to him the process in detail of how to replace a valve stem and he looked at me in disbelief. I'll stop my rant here because that's all you really need to know. I am a mechanic who does all the work on my cars with the exception of tires since I don't have the machinery. I am very knowledgeable about all things automotive. He obviously didn't know that and decided to use conjecture and dishonesty instead of trying to be helpful. My problem is two fold. First, if it's the responsibility of the customer to request a new valve stem and they don't even know what that is or that they need one to begin with, how is that safe? So a 73 year old lady who is taking a road trip and getting new tires needs to request a new valve stem? Even though she doesn't even know what that is? Imagine this, what if your heart doctor had the same policy? Would you feel comfortable with that? Didn't think so. My next problem is my time, and possibly yours reader. I essentially had to take my vehicle back twice and in doing so wasted almost 2.5 hours of my life. I made an appointment and even paid a deposit to hold the appointment. Why? Beats me. I hope the waste of a large portion of my day can save just one person from wasting theirs. Go to a tire store that cares about their customers and has employees that know how to do their jobs the right way. Not replacing a valve stem that takes literally less than 45 seconds is dangerous and lazy. Read, DANGEROUS. read more

Terrible experience. I don't EVER give bad reviews but my experience here was absolutely terrible. I purchased a $700 set of tires in Tallahassee, FL at Kauffman and never looked back. Came to ATL for a wedding and picked up a nail and slow leak on the way. Dropped it off at Kauffman in Roswell, GA because they said it was covered under a warranty. Got to this store and they said it wasn't.. No big deal. They said it would only be twenty bucks to fix and it would be ready in an hour and a half... Kauffman never called me to tell me my vehicle was ready. I showed up the next morning and stood in an empty lobby for fifteen minutes. When I did get an associate, they rang me up and didn't say anything about the service. Whatever. Left Kauffman with the tire light on in the parking lot. Went to a gas station and my tire that they supposedly worked on was at under 20 PSI. This was less than twenty minutes after I left the shop. My car smelled like marijuana (I don't smoke) and there were greasy finger prints on the door. To make matters worse, the cap to my rim was missing. Called Kauffman and they said they had it but they gave me something that didn't even fit my rim. Called them back frustrated but professionally and they hung up on me. Called back again and asked the so called manager to hear me out with everything I've had to deal with as a result of me taking my car there and he said it was Sunday and he didn't have time to deal with my problems and hung up. I think Kauffman is a great company overall but I would NEVER do business with this location again. Please NEVER take your vehicle here if you want it back in one piece. read more

I went to the store at 5 PM because I had a nail in my tire. My mother-in-law had passed away the same day, and I had to borrow a neighbors car to bring the tire to the store. The attendant told me they were all booked and they could not look at my tire. Mind you this was for a tire repair that takes little amount of time. I explain my situation that I needed my vehicle in order to make funeral arrangements starting early the next day he went to the back, and I overheard the conversation from them. The manager stated that he wanted out by 6 PM and there was no time to help me. I have bought tires from them previously I will never go back and I was in a very dire situation and I'm very disappointed with their lack of empathy. read more

So far, my experiences with this and other Kauffman Tire locations has been fine. When I've asked "do I need any new tires?" on the last two visits and they've replied that nope, the tires have plenty of tread left, it gives me confidence in their honesty. The wait is always reasonable (30-45 min). Waiting room is simple and clean, with a TV and free bottled water. Unfortunately, I've found it impossible to check in here since it results in the message that you're 1.7 miles away when you're sitting in their waiting room. read more

The Laurel and Hardy of the retail tire market. 4 visits later they managed to destroy my cargo end caps. New tires installed but couldn't figure out that front rotors and breaks were also needed. They had me coming back and forth messing with the new tire install until they finally damaged my vehicle. New store manager agreed to compensate me then ghosted me. The sales manager had reversed his decision...way to go for store moral and customer care. Over 25 years of loyalty destroyed. Never reverse a manager's committed statement to a customer...it's not a good look from the general manager who represents corporate....I give you an F across the board on behalf of your employees and consumers. read more

I had an 830AM appointment for 2 new tires. Arrived at 830 and was going to wait. Was told 2 hour wait. When i asked why he said only takes about an hour but theyre behind. When i asked why i would have to wait an hour before they even took my car back when i had an appointment, no answer. I asked why they made an appointment that they cant keep, no real answer. Had to get a ride & didnt get a call about my car until 1130. Prices are cheap but service and wait time are terrible. I think im done with this place after 6 years of it getting worse & worse. I would have liked to have come here to give Kauffman a five star review because they have been where I get tires andother related services for years. They always did a jam up job and only gave me a drive out price, which was always reasonable. However, let the buyer beware. Kauffman was quietly sold to Mavis Discount Tire last year. My wife and I immediately noticed a few months later that the staff we had worked with fir some time had all been replaced. Customer service had declined significantly. Recently, my wife's check engine light came on. Since Kauffman was on the way home, she stopped there to get the error code. They have always done this for free. But not this time. They told her that for them to get the code, they would need $40. For them to tell her what the code actually means (widely available on the internet), they would need $90. In other words, they were trying to rip her off. Mavis, a NY-based company receives very negative reviews from the BBB and other consumer review sites in the areas where they have operated for years. They biggest complaints seem to be up-selling, hidden charges, shoddy work and taking advantage of unknowledgable car owners, especially women. So take the previous high customer ratings for Kauffman as an historical note. You won't be dealing with the real Kauffman Tire. read more

All honest mechanics out there, please step forward! OR you don't even have to step forward, just forward me your name, number and address!!!!! If there was a way to rank places lower than 1 Star, I would do that here. The first 6 times I went here, they treated me pretty good, prices were fair and it's being 2 miles from the office should have hinted to me it's too good to be true! After the 6th time, the next 3 times I went there, they fixed what was needed, but inside the first mile of driving out of there, something else was going wrong. Of course they say, "This stuff happens to cars". "Every mile of wear and tear causes that" and so on. In other words they were saying "WE didn't do it!" Went to them initially because I needed a shop really close by to be able to meet my tight time constraints, but was pleasantly surprised that their prices and work seem to be pretty good. I priced out a set of Toyo tires and there really wasn't anyone cheaper. Clean, well-staffed shop also sold me; I always note how the techs treat customers with "dumb" questions and these guys were patient and pleasant. Return trip a couple months later for a rotation and brake check also was quick and competent, although they did miss adding a few pounds to the front tires per OEM specs. I have had many great experiences with this particular store. In my most recent experience, my Nissan dealer told me I needed to have an alignment on my car as my tires were wearing unevenly and were "so trashed we won't let you drive out of here without replacing your tires and having an alignment right now." I had had some previous experiences with my Nissan dealer where they have exaggerated issues with my car, so I looked at my tires myself - they were not nearly as "trashed" as they said. They were worn, but not bald, by any means. The Nissan dealer was going to charge me $179 for an alignment and $350 per tire, since I had purchased my tires from Kauffman a mere 18 months ago, I figured if they should give me some kind of credit if I ended up with "lemon" tires. I took the car in, they did the alignment for $79, and also rotated the tires, they said I only had 17,000 miles on the tires (and they are 60,000 mile radials) - so they were worn unevenly, so they recommended getting new tires within the next 3-5000 miles, but that they would give me a bit of a discount on the new tires for a mileage credit since they did not live out their anticipated life. When I picked it up, I was caught in traffic and Mike stuck around until 6:15 (when they close at 6pm) so I could pick up my car. That really took the stress off of trying to rush home from work in rush hour traffic. Mike and Jeff are always very customer oriented and are great about creating customer loyalty. About a year ago, I had a flat tire after I ran over a nail. I took it back to the store, expecting to pay another $200 for a new tire, and was elated when they said it would cost me nothing. I didn't know they patch flats for free! I love that they don't change my seat, they don't change my radio station, they keep everything in the car AS I HAVE IT (very unlike Regal Nissan). I've been a loyal Kauffman Tire customer for several years. I used to use NTB, but a few years ago, they started screwing me over. We had a tired wear out well before the warranty expired, and when I wanted to get a replacement, it was more than the tire had cost new. They said the price had increased, but I can't see it going up THAT much. Plus, NTB was ALWAYS busy, and I had to leave my car there for ANY service, even a rotate and balance. I tried Kauffman Tire on a whim because their rices looked good online. The Roswell Road store is about 6 miles from my home, so it's a short drive. I have bought two sets of tired from Kauffman and have not been disappointed. Every Kauffman store includes the valve stem and mounting in the price of the tire. Most competitors do not, so if you get a lower price quote, it's probably because of that. Kauffman also includes lifetime rotation and balance whereas most competitors charge for that. Kauffman fixes flats for free no matter WHERE you bought your tire. Good luck with competitors. I purchased a used SUV a few years back, and the sellers put a new set of tires on it for me. I had them rotated at Kauffman. Since I didn't buy them there, I had to pay for the rotate and balance, but they offered a lifetime R&B at a slightly higher cost. Saved me money in the long run as I got 60,000 miles out of those tires (that's 12 rotation and balance cycles). They've never once tried to screw me over and have never recommended a service I didn't need. As one of the other reviewers noted, they don't change your radio stations (they turn the radio off), and they make sure the seat is in the same spot it was when you dropped off the car. I seldom have to make appointments for rotation and balance. I generally just drop the car off and go for a 60 minute run and then pick up the car at the end of the run. Kauffman also uses the power of the Web, letting you select tires online and then letting you know if the store has them in stock. If not, they can generally get them in stock for you in a day or less. I used that feature when I had to get new tires for my SUV and was able to get the lower priced, better quality tire that Consumer Reports recommended by requesting it online. Kauffman made sure it was in stock in the Roswell location before I got there. Kauffman always treats me right, and because of that, they are the first stop whenever I need tire service. I'll generally check Costco prices, but I've found Kauffman is competitive even with them, and it's much easier getting a rotate and balance at Kauffman versus Costco. If you're looking for a reputable tire dealer, shop no further. read more

I've been going here for a while for the sake of convenience and every time I go I promise myself I won't go again. But this last visit was the straw that broke the camels back. When the manager on duty came back to show another older man his filter needed changing, the older man asked him to simply clean the existing filter as much as he can and place it back in the car. The manager said "no I'll just place it back in there like this". The older man asked him again to just clean it a bit and than Manager turned around and belligerently told him to "get out of the store". My question is, how is any store still open that treats its customers so disrespectfully? read more

I have actually never been to Kauffman Tire for my car to be fixed etc, but one time I stopped by because I was going to Kroger next store. I had been trying for a week to change my windshield wiper blades, and I just couldn't figure it out. I ran in here, asked the guy at the desk, and he came out and gave me a lesson on how to do it for my type of car! Then he made me install the second one to make sure I knew how to do it!! Free flat tire repair and honest mechanics is why I bring my car to Kauffman tire. When I experienced a low tire pressure warning and took it to the local Toyota dealer they must not have bothered to look for something in my tire, added some air, and instead tried to sell me 4 new tires. Days later, the tire pressure warning light was back. This time I took it Kauffman Tire and they took the time to look for the issue, remove the nail in the tire and repair it for free. I also didn't get the hard pressure sales job to buy 4 new tires but rather informed on their prices. A few months later, I was ready to purchase new tires and went back to Kauffman Tire. The prices were cheaper than the local Toyota dealer, and I knew I could trust them. Ever since, I've been going back to get my oil changes and lifetime free tire rotations. When it was time to buy tires on our other car, this is also where I chose to purchase them. The staff has always been friendly, and the service is relatively quick. The most important value they have is honesty, and is the reason I keep coming back. The waiting area has a decent amount of space, with a TV, free Coca-Cola products, and free coffee that you make from the pods so you know it's fresh. As a bonus, there is even a Kroger next store so I typically find myself wondering in to pick up a few things. read more

Like their tires prices but to busy trying to sell other stuff. Felt I was overcharged on brakes by quite a lot. Corp did refund part of it but still probably a lot more then it should have been. Took a different car to another Kauffman and told my factory rotors are too thin and need replacing..No groves and looked great. I discovered a flat tire on my car, and made a reservation online to get the tire changed. Unfortunately, due to a late tow truck (not the store's fault) I thought I had missed my appointment. Luckily I didn't, and was told that I was next in the queue to get my car serviced. That turned into a 5 hour wait-- the tire wasn't even in the store, and since I had custom rims, they had to order the correct tool to remove the wheel. I was extremely frustrated and relayed those frustrations to Eddie, who was patient and allowed me to express my frustration. He remained completely transparent with me regarding the process and even knocked off $15 off of my total bill. I can't thank Eddie and the rest of the Mavis team enough! **Word of advice, call if you need to order your tire. The online system kind of works at its own pace, calling in store will ensure the quickest delivery time! & thanks to their understanding and patience with me, I will for sure be back to get my vehicle serviced. read more
