My husband and I enjoy Max and Erma's - we visit the one near our home several times a month. We found ourselves at the one in Edinburgh and stopped in for a bite to eat last week. My go-to entree is the Erma sized Grilled Tuscan Chicken. It has the perfect portion size for me, and the flavors and textures always make me happy. Rick likes to try new things each time and usually gets a burger of some kind. They have quite a variety of them to try. The restaurant and restrooms were clean. I get to Edinburgh a few times a year and want to eat here every time. Typical chain restaurant - decent service, decent food, decent décor. It's pretty much what you'd expect. I did the Build-Your-Own-Burger, which was a nice menu feature. The burger was pretty good and the fries were cooked perfectly (right in the middle between crispy and mushy). The kitchen forgot the bacon for my burger, but our waitress was great and went and got some for me. My daughter had a grilled cheese and fries. It looked like pretty standard kids menu fare. She was satisfied with it. For 99 cents, we added an ice cream sundae to the meal and she got to pick out her own toppings. The menu advertises that they have a "bathtub full" of topping choices. What that really means is there is an old tub in the corner with a few choices on it. Not really the variety you envision when reading the menu, but my 5 year old was still happy with rainbow sprinkles and chocolate syrup. Overall, for $20, we had a decent meal. Walked in, all the tables in the bar are dirty. Server says sit anywhere I'll be right back to clean the table. She never comes. Other server says do you need a menu, I say yes and a clean table and some service. She says she's really busy but will get to me. She's not, she's lazy. This place was great! My husband and I shared the nachos grande and Reuben and it was all delicious! It was serious the best Reuben I've ever had. In a group of four setting in the bar the beer was cold and the food was great. The buffalo chicken dip was good, a little on the runny side. The TMC was excellent. The pork burger was undercooked which is unsettling. The service was good. I would prefer other places to eat, the draw here is the location next to the outlets. read more

This is a great home town grille. It is clear the people who work here care about the food and service. I am traveling for work and found a friendly atmosphere with a diverse menu and full bar. I like to eat healthy but am not a fanatic. There is a good balance of healthy choices and true comfort food. My simple sirloin was cooked a perfect medium rare and served with a crusted baked potato and steamed veggies. The quality was above main stream chains. I dined in the bar which has a Hoosiers sports themed decor. Phillip tended bar and was more than happy to accommodate special requests for channel changes. Average service, not so great food. The chicken was dry, the mashed potatoes tasted frozen. My son didn't eat the $10 cheeseburger he ordered. To be fair, he is very picky. Sat in the bar and service would have been better if there were two people working on a Saturday night. Food was very average and was just disappointed overall with our visit. Silverware, napkins, nor plates were ever provided for our appetizer. Plus we watched a waitress drop the lid of the milk contain and didn't wash it when she placed it back on the jug of milk. This was my first and LAST visit here. We were seated immediately and brought drinks. When she came to take our order I asked for the Laredo steak. Our server waited until that moment to laugh and say they were out of steak. Why wasn't that said before drinks were ordered? Probably to keep us from heading over to Montana Mikes. My friend and I always come here after a long day of shopping at the Outlet Mall next door. Boy were we disappointed. It was a SATURDAY night, and the place was deserted. That should have been the first indication that something was wrong. We placed our order, and the waitress seemed friendly enough, but then she disappeared for what seemed like forever, and the table next to us was having problems as well. I ordered the new Turkey Burger with dressing on the side and a side of fruit. What I got was a Turkey Burger loaded with dressing and french fries. There was tomato on it, if that's what you call it, as it was the top of the tomato and that's it. Really??? I wouldn't have expected this for a place that charges over $10 for a Turkey Burger. The waitress agreed to get me another bun and the fruit. However, she forgot to come back. By the time she showed back up, complaining about how lame the kitchen staff was, I had almost finished the open faced burger (now). All in all, the food was mediocre, the help was TERRIBLE, and there was no manager around at all. Don't even get me started about how long it took to get the check. Dinner lasted about 1.5 hours, not that I don't love spending time with my friend, but come on!!! Don't waste your money on this place. What with all the restaurants that actually want business, we should have gone somewhere else!! read more

So sad that we waisted our money. Stayed at the Hilton and thought it would be "the spot". NOT THE CASE! We ordered the Garbage burger that was described to be loaded with all the goods, including sauteed mushrooms. There was LITERALLY one mushroom on the whole burger. We should have listened to the warning in the name. GARBAGE!! Asked to add Bbq sauce and they didnt. The chicken on the BLTA was so dry it could have been crushed to powder, also asked for swiss and no swiss was added. The charge sure was though. So bummed. You do get a discount with your hilton room key though, save a whole two bucks off the bill. At least it was two dollars I didnt waste. Someone also needs to let them know what the description "seasoned fries" means...we were thinking seasoned salt, or a crispy curly fry type. These didnt even have salt, so ZERO "seasonings" on the "seasoned fries". Seasoned must be an indcation on the age of the fries as they were soggy, wrenkled and wet like an old lady. We arrived at opening on what I assumed would be a busy lunch day. Welcome wasn't super friendly (she was better when we left) but maybe she wasn't in the groove yet. Our friendly waitress came right over and took our order. Being the restaurant was still empty, the waitresses were gathering around the fireplace close to our table gossiping about the weekend. Our food arrived quickly and two of our three orders were incorrect but not much (mayo left off on one burger and mushrooms left off on another). No big deal. Our burgers were very greasy and bland and served on an excessively sweet bun. I bit into bone twice in mine and gave up at that point. The manager came around to see if everything was OK but buzzed away before we could even give a response. Pretzel sticks, black bean roll ups, and fries were good. Fresh baked chocolate chip cookies were not even warm. Being we were one of the first groups there, that just made me think they were made the previous day and not "fresh baked" as advertised. Decor was nice but bathrooms looked like they were cleaned with a dirty rag. We used to go to Max & Erma's in KY and loved it. This was disappointing. Horrible, food cold, way to expensive for what we got. The waitress spilled the coffee on the table right in front of me and didn't bother to clean it up, plus she had attitude on several occasions like we were bothering her to ask for anything. The place was not packed at all. The kids food looked liked they had pulled it straight out of the freezer of SAMs. When the waitress finally cashed out our bill and brought the ticket she had strawberry daiquiri all over my card and the bill, from someone else's drink. Very friendy and quick service on this Friday July 3rd night getting there about 7:00 pm. First time passing thru from trip down south. Wife and I split a hamburger cooked medium rare perfectly as we ordered. The mozzarella cheese skewers appetizer was awesome and plentiful. We ordered a Caesar salad which we said we were splitting along with everything else. They asked what order we wanted everything. We took the salad first and then the cheese app with the burger. They split the salad for us bringing us two seperate good size salads with a fresh warm garlic breadstick for both. Butter would have been nice with the bread but bread very good. Only disappointment was the ceasar dreasing. Very watery and no flavor. We stopped eating and asked for a side of ranch dressing but same thing? No flavor and watery? Brought out seperate plates so we could divide everything up. When we walked in they said "welcome back". When they learned we were first timers, they brought out fresh baked warm cookies for us to to back to the hotel room across the street at the end of the meal. Nice touch. First time guest, last time visitor. Hostess was not very friendly, she looked as if she was ready for her shift to hurry up and end. Our waitress was unable to answer simple questions that I felt she should have know; drink specials, entree ingredients, etc. She made comments such as "You would ask me that question" and "I don't know, I'll ask someone later". I ordered a Mom's Time Out mixed drink and think the bartender forgot to add liquor. I essentially paid for a glass of Sprite with an orange slice. We ordered potato skins and they were delicious. For my entree, I decided to go with a salad after the waitress failed to answer my entree questions. It was full filling and served its purpose. If I could call max and ermas themselves, I would. And they would be embarrassed at this establishment. We waited a very long time to get a table, because while many tables were empty none of them were bussed and cleared. When we got to the table we had no silverware or napkins. When we ordered they were out of a kind of bread and did not mention it until the order had already gone out. We never got refills on our water, and one of the water glasses had a black stain on the inside. We had to ask for silverware twice after we got our food and the sever responded by telling us they were out. We waited 12 minuted for silverware. One of the burgers we ordered was extremely raw, completely inedible. We waited over an hour for another burger to come. Throughout our meal we saw our server go to and sit a table with a single man probably trying to finesse herself a man, which is not appropriate while working. Essentially, max and Erma's great names are ruined. read more

My family went on a friend's recommendation to eat at this restaurant. We arrived at 3pm after shopping at the outlet mall, to get some food before our 2 hr drive home. We were seated right away......that was nice. The first thing out of the waiters mouth was, " be patient with us, we sent some people home and just got slammed." There were maybe 8 tables busy. He brought us our drinks except for the strawberry lemonade and chocolate milk stating those needed mixed and would take some time.....little did we know! He took our food order....but left the table to report to kitchen everytime someone said appetizer. Yep......left our table about 4 times while taking our order with sighs and acting totally stressed out. He then left to turn in our entree order. 1 hr later, the manager came and introduced himself as "the big cheese" and apologized for our delay in appetizers and said they weren't up to standard.......as he's talking, the table next to us was getting the same appetizers we ordered and they came in 30 min after us. Asked if we needed anything we reported the lemonade and choc milk and entrees ordered 1 hr ago? They brought drinks out immediately. Then come the appetizers and they were pretty good. Next was the food........food was cold, sandwiches all soggy where they had obviously been made quite some time. At this point, my 18 yr old son.....who eats everything not moving, wasn't hungry and said his sandwich was horrible. Not one person including the 6 and 8 yr old with us ate much. 1 hr and 45 minutes later, we left, after waiting 20 min on the bill. I have never been treated with more disrespect as a customer, never worse service and will never go there again. I will go back to the mall, but will buy a sandwich at the gas station before I eat there again!!!!!! Terrible!!!!!! If I could give them 1/2 star only I would.
