I'm sad. I had such high hopes for Max and Louies, with dreams of authentic NY Deli fare. We waited and waited for it to open, and decided tonight was the night! My 89 year old Mom was in town, and we studied the huge menu at home before we left and both decided on good old Corned Beef & Cabbage. What we got was anything but. I don't believe anyone is ordering this entree, as I cannot imagine anyone else thinking that what they served us is edible, let alone good. Totally flavorless, tough corned beef hiding a barely parboiled quarter head of cabbage with a raw center. Even the big steak knife we were given wouldn't cut it! Green beans that were tougher than small tree branches. Can you say freezer burn? The mashed potatoes were the only thing on the plate worth eating, but at $25.00 per (plus tip, plus 3% CC surcharge), it was definitely a fail. CB&C should be tender, buttery and melt in your mouth, not like eating shoe leather and green pencils. The waitress offered take-home boxes and we declined. On the way out, the manager asked how we enjoyed our meal and when we explained, he acted a bit condescending saying, "Well, we're only human!" Fine - be human, but don't charge me almost $30 a plate to find out! Another manager comp'ed us one of the plates, and the waitress was nice - I'll give them that. Ultimately, considering the high prices and surcharges, we're not going to risk losing $$ giving them another try. Hey Mr. Manager - ask your cooks to make you a plate of what you tried to feed us and see what you think! We'll stick with the tried and true home-cookin' restaurant across the freeway. read more

I had lunch today and from my experience previously worked for a Jewish deli I was very disappointed! I ordered a matzo ball soup in the beginning I ate it and it lacked dill weed and putting noodles in the soup is a disappointment! I ordered a potato knish also very disappointed what's with the puff pastry? Then I ordered a hotdog with kraut and frozen onion rings that hurt my tooth. Guys! Everything should be homemade...what's with the frozen stuff? And the wait staff was horrible! I had to ask my waiter which was a guy 3 times for a to go box!? Really!? He pre judged a single person eating vs a family eating. Based on getting a tip. The atmosphere was too loud in there. Next time I will be trying breakfast you can't go wrong with eggs. read more

went to the new restaurant in cibolo and had the pastrami sandwich with a side of onion rings and took half of it home. the portions are plentiful. the menu is extensive and varied in deli style food. i like the waitlist option. they will text you when the table is ready. the staff is very attentive and friendly. alannah took good care of us. we will definitely be back. read more

Look, I love M&L. Been going to 281 location for years. This is my 2nd time to the Cibolo location because it is local to us. I'm trying to be patient because I know it takes a while to get in the swing of things but.... It should not take 15+ minutes to place our order. First time it took us an hour to get our breakfast after ordering and today it took about 30 minutes to get our breakfast. And then we get them and we didn't get toast with a meal or any syrup. Need to work on these issues, we are invested in you being successful. read more

We've been twice since they opened and thoroughly enjoyed the food and staff both times. They only suffer from popularity, with some long wait times for seats and the food to arrive after ordering. You can grab a coffee next to the bar while you wait, and the staff was attentive and friendly. Managers were very visible and engaged throughout, seating customers, checking on tables, and delivering food. The seating areas were spacious and well lit but very noisy. Again, not something they can "fix", just a packed room. The prices are a bit high, but you get a lot of fresh, hot food, with great flavor. Probably not a weekly visit, but definitely in our rotation. read more

I went on Sunday with a friend and we sat at the bar, the girls that helped us were wonderful and super lovely to chat with. They made sure we always had what we needed and more. Also witnessed them going above and beyond for another customer that wanted their pie warmed up from the bakery side. Really looking forward to many more times at this place! read more

I was very excited to try the one in Cibolo because it's very close to where I live! I looked that their website and the food looked very enticing. I went there today after church, it was just me. There were some empty tables inside but not a lot, it was crowded. There were a lot more empty tables outside and I mentioned to the host that I would like an outside table. He tells me that they would not be taking anymore people because they didn't want to be at max compacity for the service. Mind you there were plenty of outside tables and I even told him that and he said the same thing again laughing at me, as other people behind me where being taken to their seats! I said never mind I will leave! They just lost a would be customer! Never felt so unwelcome in my life! Went to Willie's instead! read more

Saw the news feature the Cibolo opening. Stop by a couple of times,during early dinner time. Please had a long wait, so we decided try to again at later time. Finally make to the restaurant,place is so-so on being on full. We were seated pretty quick. But 2 waiters & waitresses later, we still had our menus in hand or request for drinks yet. After 20 minutes, we just left. We might try in 6 months or so. Welcome to the Cibolo/Schertz community. read more

The food was freshly prepared to order. Substitutions for sides was convenient. I was greeted upon entering the restaurant. Managers were vigilant for feedback and constructive criticism. Plenty of room and service was excellent. Outstanding choices of New York favorites. My "go to" place for a nice meal. I like the fact that the desserts complement the meals. My husband and I are regulars at the San Antonio location and with family in New Braunfels, we were excited to bring them out to visit the Cibolo location for Mother's Day. First off, the restaurant is beautiful and clean with the same retro spirit and fun music. It can be loud but I'm sure there are quieter times and the patio seemed calm. This place is definitely a great place for family and fun occasions. We were very happy with the service. Bobbi Jo and Haven were really friendly and helpful and management checked in plenty of times to make sure we were doing well. The food did take a while but this was Opening Weekend AND Mother's Day. Their staff seems very committed to improving this. If you've been to the other location, you know this team runs like a well-oiled machine so I don't doubt them! As for the food, second to NONE. The Challah French Toast is the best French toast you'll ever have. The scrambled eggs are creamy and perfect. Waffles, pancakes, biscuits... it's all wonderful! Don't forget to check out the bakery on your way out. We love the crumb cake! read more

As a family, we were excited to try this new restaurant in our neighborhood. We joined them for an early dinner. The decor was charming with a retro vibe. There were several friendly hostesses upon entrance, eager to seat us. Our waitress was cordial, explained all our questions. We all ordered lemonades, for $6 each, there are no free refills. OK. We ordered 2 Hot Pastrami sandwiches, one with onion rings and the other came with coleslaw. OK. and a Hot meat loaf sandwich/coleslaw. And a side order of the sweet potato fries, which were actually hot and pretty tasty. All 3 sandwiches were not hot when they reached our table, and the pastrami had a lot of fat, too much for the price of the sandwich, this is kind of disappointing, plus every pastrami sandwich I have ever eaten has always tasted best when it's hot. The meatloaf sandwich was nothing exciting and was told it lacked flavor. OK. the coleslaw lacked in taste. For the price of our tab, I wouldn't go back a second time. I gave this a 3 star for the decor. read more
