I've been coming here on and off for years and decided to bring a friend from out of town. She gave it an 8.5/10! The dumplings were exactly how I remembered -- crispy on the bottom, chewy on top, and packed with flavor. The garlic green beans were super tasty too, cooked just right with a nice crunch. I've eaten here a couple times and the food quality isn't consistent. The flavor of the food is on the less seasoned side, so it tastes more healthy. I was impressed by the speed to which they made the food. There's good parking and it's a chill spot, but the food is just so so for me. Maybe I need to try more items but for now, it's a three star! The service was nice and I'm def interested in coming back and getting something else. I got the chow mien and thought it needed some eggs and more flavor imo. read more

I come here once in awhile when I'm in the area. I always call ahead of time and come within 25 minutes to pick up the order. As a pescetarian I usually go for something non-meat. They do have vegetarian dumplings where you can get it steamed or pan fried. I've tried both ways before and I think I like the pan fried more. I also like their hot and sour soup and scallion cake. Today the scallion cake was oily on the bottom of the container but it still had a good taste. 3 items came out to about $30 and I am able to eat it twice so not too bad. I also like their rose milk tea with extra ice of course. Its not comparable to din tai fung, but its a decent dumpling restaurant, probably one of the better ones I've found. Thumbs up! read more

My family and I have been coming here for a few years now. I was very disappointed to find there has been a change in ownership. There was hair in my son's XLB and the recipes are all different. The green beans are no longer crunchy. The lady at the register was kind, but I didn't like that she "forgot to charge 1 ramune" but recharged me for 2. I thought maybe I misheard. The whole environment is hectic since the lady and the cook are screaming angrily at each other. To be fair they had many customers at once, but it could've been handled differently. let me start off by saying that the stars of this visit were the: braised beef noodle:5 stars pork XLB:5 stars skip the other two menu items as the pan fried pork mini buns though visually appealing were too "doughy/heavy" for my taste & portions of it were undercooked, see accompanying photo... the steamed pork dumpling skins were thick & doughy as well & the protein lacked flavor... now in closing on a good note, the braised beef noodle soup was excellent...broth had a slight spicy kick which complemented the noodles, baby bok choy & had four tender pieces of nicely seasoned braised beef... pork XLB were good as advertised & would order these again... funny because the XLB & the pan fried pork mini buns looked similar in preparation but far apart in texture, quality & taste... read more

It was so good we are thinking of going twice in two days. This place had great food and the prices were reasonable. The favorite were the soup dumplings, they are a must have. Do mix the vinegar, chili oil and soy for the dumplings. The teas were also great and worth getting. The cashier was very sweet and provided us information on the food. It had a small dining area and we were alone. It was clean and bright. The only concern for some people is that you are expected to bus your table. So be aware and clean up after yourself. This reduces costs and allows restaurants to keep prices reasonable. Hope you enjoy as much as we did. read more

If you're ok with average, not-very-authentic-tasting Taiwanese food, this place is fine. The service itself was pretty fast and very nice. The space is decently large too and a self-serve, casual setting. The beef noodle soup was decent. The beef was tender and tasty but the noodles were not that great and the portion was a little small. The XLB was ok. I had high hopes for the Asian Beef Burrito because I love beef wraps, but I didn't expect the wrap part to be an actual tortilla since usually they are scallion pancakes. The beef was thin, there was a lot of cilantro (which was flavorful), and there was not a lot of sauce. The cucumber salad was disappointing. It tasted like the cucumber was thrown into some sauce and served immediately rather than being marinated as the dish is supposed to be. Parking behind building, lots of spaces open when I went 12:45 pm. Cashier friendly and polite, first time here and asked for suggestions, doing the beef bulgogi and chicken and corn. While passing through the area, we were hit with a craving for dim sum. In perusing the area on Yelp, we saw that Mayflower wasn't too far away and had a high rating, so we decided to give it a whirl. There is street parking in front or on the side, and a parking lot in the rear. A majority of this place is self serve. You walk in, order off of the menu at the counter, and they bring the food to your table if you're dining in. Drinks are in the coolers to the right, there's a water dispenser to the left, along with styrafoam cups and plastic utinsels. The food is served in styrafoam, aluminum, and plastic to-go containers. You are asked to bus your own table and not to throw any liquids in the trash bin. Foodwise, we felt very underwhelmed. Not allowing influence or to compare with other dim sum specialists, a lot of the food felt bland. The spicy wontons were cooked just right, however, they were then just dropped in a small bit of the fried chili oil synonymous with Asian restaurants. It felt like there was no customization, no tailoring of the chili oil to make this meld with the wontons, not to mention the overpowering kick of the chili. The soup within the Xiao Long Baos tasted bland, as did the beef noodles, and felt very chewy. Sure, this can be remedied by adding extra seasoning, but I want to see what your food is all about...unaltered. I would say the best part of our meal, which wasn't much better than average, was the pan fried pork buns.....but there is a thin seperation between the taste of this and the rest of the food. We didn't finish our food, but we did take it to go. This was definitely made convenient by the fact that most of the dishes were already served in to-go containers. While the food was better later on when we added sauces, seasoning.....the food shouldn't depend on that to become palatable. read more

We came here after our visit to Knotts from the Big Bear area. We look for mom and pop hole in the wall places. This certainly was what we were looking for. Very clean inside, great customer service and the food was AMAZING! We got chicken chow mein, pork steamed dumplings, beef and onion pan fried dumplings, chicken dumplings in spicy sauce and chicken wonton soup. Yeah, we splurged, but we wanted to try a little bit of everything. You can taste the love they put into their food. The wrappers were obviously hand made as were the noodles, simply incredible. Even the steamed rice was better than we'd had it even at our favorite Chinese food restaurant in redlands. We had a great experience (even our 9 and 5 year old girls had no complaints). I wouldn't have minded throwing our trash, but they wanted us to clean the table. There's cleaning bottles provided as well. It's worse than a fast food restaurant. Food wasn't great, very mediocre. XLB: lacks flavor and the tip of the XLB wasn't fully cooked. The tip was hard. Sautéed green bean with garlic: The green beans were soft and crunchy, with a subtle garlic flavor. It was the best tasting dish we got. Beef fried rice: was disappointing, soggy, and lacks robust flavors one would expect. Hardly had any beef in this dish. Wonton w/spicy sauce: definitely not spicy. Wonton was folded nicely but doesn't taste like anything. We visited on Saturday around 1130 AM. There were only a few couples so we got lots of direct attention. We had the house fried rice with everything, fried pork chops, a lobster dish, fried calamari, and fish in black bean sauce. The lobster was the best with lots of garlic and was cut into manageable portions. The fried rice is a great base for the other dishes. The restaurant smelled freshly cleaned and the noise was very low once the trio that had arrived before us left. I recommend visiting on Saturday near opening time for the best service. Always wanted to check this place out and we finally did. The food was delicious but the only thing we did not like was that they did not have plates. They serve their food like the OC fair in brown paper containers. Their combination rice was a great choose and their pig buns were the best. We also got their house milk tea and mango tea. I've tried a few places with similar cuisine. This restaurant is definitely delicious and has great tasting buns/dumplings. My family ordered a large amount of food while we were in Anaheim for a small trip. We used Uber and the delivery was smooth and all items we're definitely packaged with care! We tried the following: Pork soup dumplings- delicious! Still at a great temp when received and the black vinegar sauce was on point! Pork pan fried buns- really pillowy and delicious, what you expect from this dish. House noodles- very good in flavor, unfortunately lacked protein. For a house noodle with 3 different proteins I definitely expect the noodle to protein ratio to be a significant amount more than what we received. This was tasty but in my opinion the ratio needs to be adjusted so the proteins aren't so scarce. House fried rice- same problem as the noodles with the protein, but beyond that unfortunately this one lacked a lot of flavor and was oddly dry. I don't expect fried rice to be brothy or saucy at all but that's the best word I can use to describe how it felt and tasted. Spicy Wontons- this was very delicious! Top of my list Green beans- super garlicky in a very good way! Crispy and delicious 10/10 Mongolian bowl- the beef was tasty! The description on uber didn't help. It didn't say that steamed rice came with it. So just know it does! That won't affect the score I give. Overall it was a solid choice in flavor with some minor hiccups. I would definitely order again but I would keep in mind my experience and make necessary adjustments to my order to suit my needs. Try it out! read more

Mayflower is FIRE. The service is wonderful. It's all in house so expect a 15min wait or less to get food. The menu has a good amount so expect to derail and order more than what you came in for LOL the XLB is SO GOOD!!! Highly recommend. My favorite veg option is the garlic green beans. The dining area is small but never really crowded which is nice. This is a local spot that offers to go options which is nice when you're not trying to make it a big deal like other places. Nice spot in Anaheim with 'noodle' options from XLB to Shen Jian Bao to beef noodles. First time here as they only open for lunch on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. See my photos for what we ordered. Actually got the steamed Bao instead of them pan fried. Still good and probably a bit healthier. And, this place is super casual IMO. No servers and a handful of tables with water and utensils are all self serve. Even when you dine in, all bowls/plates are paper, plastic or aluminum just like with to go so they don't need to hire a dishwasher. I get the financial reasons for doing this but it would be nice to have less trash on dine in. They have a small parking lot in the back or else it's street parking. read more

I really wanted to love this, I really did. With glowing reviews and wanting to support a local business instead of going to Din Tai Fung for dumplings, I chose Mayflower Dumpling Express. Lets just say, my hunt continues for a local, flavorful dumpling. FOOD-- VEGETABLE DUMPLING-- 5/10 This dumpling relies HEAVY on the sauces you make on the side. Alone they are a bit greasy and unflavorful. I wouldnt get again. About half way through them, I saw a hair on the dumpling so I think i just got grossed out by them. PORK DUMPLING-- 6/10 Same issue here, it's a bit greasy. They were almost good, the flavor was almost there, i honestly think the greasiness took away a lot from this dumpling. GREEN BEANS-- 8/10 These were the best thing we ordered. These were fresh, had great flavor, and were addicting! DEEP FRIED BULGOGI DUMPLING-- 7/10 These were solid. How can you not love bulgolgi? SWEET AND SOUR SOUP-- 5/10 This just didn't do it for me. I don't know, not my favorite flavor profile. BEEF FRIED RICE-- 8/10 Good, standard for fried rice. WHITE RICE-- 10/10 It's white rice lol. DRINKS- KIWI LEMONADE-- 9/10 This was pretty good! MANGO GREEN TEA-- 10/10 It was exactly what i wanted and tasted good. PRICE-- 80$... OUCH! I ordered the mango green tea, pork soup dumplings and combination chow mein. The tea was a little too sweet, but very refreshing. The pork dumplings were my favorite. The broth was clean and the pork was fatty. The chow mein was a generous serving with thick noodles and big chunks of beef, pork and shrimp. It wasn't busy inside, but seemed like there were a lot of pick up orders. Also, the employee was very nice and helpful! I ordered the veggie fried rice and chicken w/corn steamed dumplings. There was plenty of food for 2 people, but I wouldn't order the fried rice again. There were barely any veggies in the fried rice and no eggs. What more can you ask for? 2 people for dinner at 6 PM on a Monday. This restaurant is NOT full-service. You order at a cashier and then the food will get dropped at your table and you bus it when done. The food was prepared quickly and everything was piping hot/fresh. Good: House fried rice, beef noodle soup, spicy wonton. Also the beef chow fun looked good. Avoid/Meh: Xiao Long Bao (not enough soup) 2 people spent $67 here after tax and tip which got us tons of food to the point we were stuffed. Could probably do 2 people $40. read more

My favorite dumpling place is in SF. This is close second when I'm craving. We ordered baos, dumplings, green beans, and some spicy dumplings. I'm sorry I forgot to write down the names. It was all delicious and we finished everything. You do order first and they bring it to the table. All the comments about tipping and cleaning are misleading. They ask you to clean up after yourself. Just like you would at a fast food sit down. They go around giving each table a wipe down when people leave. Give them a try!
