I also told them that I didn't drink any tea and the cashier lady gave me attitude when I asked her to take it off the bill. It's not the 1.50 lady it's the principle. Came here for Dinner and not the Dim Sum. The food is pretty authentic as well as the service. This is typical of Chinese restaurants so you will be practically sharing elbows with the table next to you as you eat and you have to ask repeatedly for something as simple as ice water. There is rarely a checkup on how you are doing so don't by shy to flag down someone when you need something, its the norm. Mayflower offers may banquet options based on price. For a party of 10, it can range from the low $100 ~ $500+ depending on the dishes and ingredients. Usually I go there to have dim sum but since I was having some relatives visiting from overseas for the summer so decided to give the banquet menu a try. - BBQ combination platter - As expected.. - Fish maw and crab meat soup - Nothing special. - Walnut prawns - Rather than bits of walnuts, they are actually walnut halves. - Mongolian beef - Beef was tender and juicy with adequate right amount of heat. - Peking duck - in steamed bun - The duck was well-prepared. Nice crispy skin, not too fatty, really flavorful. - Sauteed minced duck served in lettuce cup - This dish was a bit ordinary. - Lobster with ginger and green onion - The lobsters were very tasty. - Pan fried whole flounder - A bit greasy. - Fried noodle with seafood - Tasted good but the noodle turns soggy very quickly. - Silken tofu dessert - I was expecting a sweeter dessert. Total bill came to roughly $300 after taxes and tips. The portion of the dishes weren't large. The amount of food given to us was just sufficient and we left feeling about 80% full. We had a party of 11 who were not big eaters and we did not have any leftovers. The service was decent. Came here for dinner on a Saturday night, and it wasn't that crowded. Service was pretty fast and efficient. Dishes seemed less greasy than other Chinese restaurants (except this sautéed beef and vegetables platter). Prices were a little on the pricier side for what you get (i.e small platter of seaweed salad for $9), but the dishes were pretty decent. I'll give you our visit to this restaurant from the second we walked in the door: The second you walk in the door, you get a feeling of "Oh my, I'm gonna end up spending a lot of money here." As were walked to our table (for 2), I noticed a few tanks, stacked atop one another, with fresh seafood within them--crab, lobster, fish, etc. So, we sit and were asked by a gentleman whether we would like tea or not...we got hot green tea. So you sit...and look around at the carts passing through the restaurant. Each cart has at least one type of dim sum. One cart that passed us had several type of steamed buns--pork, bean paste, shrimp, etc. Another cart had different type of shu mais. As the carts pass or a server comes by with a tray of food, they tell you what it is and you just say yes or no. If you say yes, they stamp your bill so that when your bill is totaled up, the cashier knows what to add up. A small order of dim sum is $2.60 (usually 3 pieces), a medium order is $3.20, and a large order is $4.00. The dim sum is good..especially the shu mai; that was delicious! The calamari was absolutely fabolous! So much flavor! The rest of the dim sum that we tried was good, but they taste similar to other dim sum restaurants that we've been to before. The thing that separates this restaurant from others that we've visited, the dim sum they bring out is fresh hot..with steam coming out from the top. For the amount of food that we got, we only spent $25. And we overate. Lol. We wanted to try as much as we could because it was our first time eating here. 3.5 dim sum! Came with my coworkers and we ordered so much dim sum - I really can't name everything we ate. I thought overall, the food was good. It was for the most part fresh outta the oven and nothing really grossed me out. Yes, it's greasy, but whatever....I was satisfied. There was a lot of dim sum going around, which I like because that means you get a variety to chose from. A lot of shrimp, rice noodles, and buns, that's fo sho. I loved the custard bun. Dim sum and banquet meals are always good here. For dim sum I always have to have the pineapple custard bun and chicken feet if I'm feeling adventurous or have an eating buddy. I love the sticky rice wrapped in banana leaves and the shrimp rice cake dreneched in soy sauce. My bff reserved a few tables here last weekend for her son's red egg and ginger. We had the banquet style meal for lunch which included the cold meat plate (soy sauce chicken, roast duck, jelly fish, xa xiu), the soup was ok I would pass on that, lobster and peking duck was delcious. The service isnt too bad or good for an Asian place. It's good for groups or big parties. My family brought our guest from Australia to this restaurant on Monday. The guests ordered everything we ate and for the most part I knew what we were eating but some dishes I have never seen before. So let's get started. We started with some sort of abalone soup. This was okay but not my favorite. All the meats in the soup were very chewy. Next we had steamed chicken. That was pretty good. Cooked perfectly. And sauce it came with was good too :) We each had a giant surf clam. This was delicious but probably 4-6 dollars each. The Peking duck was good but the buns were very small. The duck pieces didn't even fit. The lobster noodles were good. The servers divide the noodles into bowls for all the diners at the table after you pick your piece of lobster. Stopped by 15 minutes before noon on a Tuesday with a friend. The service initially was pretty good until their lunch rush showed up. The dim sum is not bad. I was craving shrimp dumplings and "phoenix claws" (chicken feet). Both cravings were satisfied here. They push dim sum carts and also bring out trays. The surprising thing here is that many of their waitresses/ dim sum ladies, speak English! And you also have some that speak Cantonese and Mandarin. It must be because the area has a lot of techies and engineers. I read Mark H.'s review and tried out the deep fried milk with toasted almonds. It was pretty good, not too sweet and not bland. Downside, took a while to get our tea pot refilled. The guy took it and started busing tables. Took over 5 minutes to get our tea pot back. (Almost made a bet that he forgot) Another thing, half way into our meal, our table was completely empty. None of the dim sum ladies stopped by our table after the same ones kept asking us if we wanted cha siu bao over and over again. So we had to order some of our dishes. We ordered the seafood and Peking duck six dishes set dinner. The steamed clams with soy sauce and Peking duck were the only two dishes that we satisfied. Other dishes like the steam fish was so small on a big plate and it wasn't fresh. The ginger and spring onion crab that sit on top of reheated fry noodle was also not fresh. In addition to the below average taste, it was their services disappointed me so mush. It was a Tuesday night after Christmas and the restaurant was half empty so it wasn't busy at all. However nobody came to replace our dirty plates that loaded with crab shells, fish and duck bones the whole meal. We only have four people but they still charged 18% tip anyway. I think we won't go back to this restaurant for a long time - if we ever will! read more

This place had been a staple for me for two decades, and I continued to go there even though it had been sliding downhill. Unfortunately I've had my last meal there: cold center fried taro puff that they poked at with their fingers and then MICROWAVED for us! Disgusting! Har gow skin was steamed beyond mush because it was likely leftover from the day before and then re-steamed. Two times in one month! That's a record. Came here for a late Father's Day dinner an my grandpa's 90th birthday. We did the dim sum for lunch the first time. I have to say it's not that pricey here compared to other Dim sum places! We pigggggged out. The service was good and they spoke English! Second time around we went for dinner and did the family style for 9 people. I swear it was like coming to eat for a wedding. The food is very tasty and fresh. It's not salty so it was great for my grandparents. My mom is always complaining about salty foods everywhere we go. So that's a plus. Came here on June 30, 2019 around 10:45 with a party of 8. They told us the wait would only be a couple minutes and that we would be the next big group to get seated. We didn't get a table until noon. Service is absolutely horrible. Rude and belligerent. I get that they would obviously be busy on a Sunday morning for dim sum service but the way some of the employees spoke to us was just shocking. We had a table of 8 but they only brought 4 waters to the table and we requested waters for the entire table. I got up to flag someone down to bring more waters but a manager yelled at me and said "there are servers everywhere, call one to your table don't get up!", as if I didn't try to call someone to our table.. I'm not sure if we came at the wrong time but they had a tiny selection and a lot of it was very bland. The only thing I really enjoyed were their soup dumplings and siu mai. Couldn't even put any orders in because no one would stop by our table for longer than two seconds. I know for a fact that we weren't the only ones having issues because I saw the same manager get into it with a table across from us. Good but not great chinese restaurant in a shopping center of only Asian restaurants. I think part of the reason I might have felt underwhelmed was because our group ordered a lot of very westernized dishes that I don't consider authentic Chinese food. The fried coconut shrimp was the quality of something found at an average Chinese buffet. The pork ribs had too much sauce on it. If I come back again then I will be sure to try the seafood options, perhaps that is what Mayflower is best at. read more

I've been here many times in the past decade, and this restaurant has gone completely downhill in recent years. On our last visit, we had absolutely terrible service for the first 30 minutes, and this was after already waiting 30 for a seat. Service was really slow and unorganized. An hour and half after opening, they still only had ONE SINGLE CART servicing our half of the restaurant. That cart passed us 3 times without even stopping to ask whether we wanted anything. The cart wasn't even busy; no one was ordering from it, and this was partially because it was purposely trying to ignore everyone. I have no idea why the waiter was even doing this. Also, our main server was just chatting with our neighbor table was 15 minutes before even asking us for tea. It was another 10 minutes before we got tea, and it was a ridiculous $1.5/person. Overall, we waited 25 minutes before we got our first food, which is ridiculous for DIM SUM. I've never had to wait over 5 minutes before. This completely defeats the purpose of DIM SUM. I don't even know why friends even bring me here. Compared to dim sum places in Sac and LA, this place is quite bad. read more

Service wise, don't expect the waiter would come and ask you to order. You will have to wave your hand for them to come, ask not once, not twice, BUT three times until they take orders for you. AND that's the first and the last time the waiter would come to serve you. Food wise, the taste is okay. The Chinese wok flavor is good, but they give the smallest portion size I have ever seen... Price is relatively more expensive than the nearby restaurants. To sum it up, the food&service to price ratio is the worst compare to every restaurants I have gone to. read more

Came with my family on Mother's day and it was pretty busy. Luckily we had a reservation so we got seated right away. We ordered a couple things that all tasted good. My reason for the low rating is more for the service. Now typically for restaurants like this, I try not to expect much. I have never seen a goos Chinese restaurant with more than 3 stars lol. But this time I was shocked. There were two instances where the servers forgot our orders. Normally, you're supposed to be served the soup first. We started getting our entrees and we noticed that our soup was not coming. We had to ask the server if our soup was going to come. We tried to eat slow because we knew our fish would be on the way. It never came. We finished the rest of our food and brought up to two servers that we never got our fish. At this point we were frustrated and just cancelled the order as they obviously forgot all about it. I want to give them some slack since it was mother's day but this place is always busy. Holidays shouldn't be that much different than other weekend dinners. Overall, the food was good. At least the food that we actually got served. I didn't expect much in terms of service, yet I was still disappointed. Hopefully the staff can work on communication to ensure orders aren't forgotten. We arrived on Sunday morning right at 10am, it was not busy yet and there were plenty of tables available. The dim sum carts were ready to go as soon as we sat down, and the food was steaming hot & fresh! Holy moly - everything was super delicious and authentic. I took a bite of the laai wong bao (egg custard baked bun) and was in heaven. It was my favorite dish by far! There are plenty of varieties and selection, there wasn't a single dish that I wanted but couldn't get. Great quality dim-sum. They do charge $1.50/person for tea, but their pricing for S/M/L is about average. I actually really enjoyed the quality of the tea and appreciated that nothing is watered down. It seems like it "may" be a combination of a green Asian veggie, and shrimp but seriously speaking -- no clue. Deep Fried Taro and Meat Dumpling -- taro plus meat seems new to me (used to taro desserts) but I'm a fan Fried Shrimp Dumpling? -- Excuse the poor descriptions but in regards to "dim sum", you look, you like -- you order. "Enough said"... The short: basic banquet experience with hits and misses I haven't had the dim sum here - this is about the pre-set menu. Overall, the food was good, but not amazing. The cold cut appetizers in the beginning were delicious, though that can be hard to fail at... The seafood soup was delicious and I wish there was more. The pea-shrimp-scallop combination was delicious, though they could cut on the use of oil. There was a vegetable dish with mushrooms and wood ear fungus which was delicious, though again, their generous use of oil is off-putting. The duck had a lot more fat to meat ratio, which was disappointing. The lobster was decent, though it was cold and I've had better elsewhere. The fish was delicious, though at most places I've had banquets at, they cut the fish up for the guests. Here, they place it on the table and it's up to the guests to divvy it up however they want, which works for some people... The last entree was a fried rice dish with chicken and shrimp in a wet sauce. This was surprisingly good as we rarely order rice as a dish so having this was a nice change. They asked us to give them a 10 minute heads up as to when to begin serving the food. At the 10 minute mark, they promptly brought out the appetizer, and then they began bringing out the other dishes, perhaps too fast for the speed that our 11-person table was eating at. Probably the worst dim sum experience I have ever had.. Came here on my daughter's birthday which was also President's Day 2/20. I had to change her birthday plans because of bad weather. I intended to go to Gen's Korean BBQ but the wait was almost two hours and some people in our party had work in two hours. The wait was only 20 minutes, we got seated in a private room for larger parties. As we got seated the food started rolling in which was great but the waitresses were extremely pushy, rude, and kept insisting on putting everything on our table. We couldn't understand them either but I understand. We asked for waters, forks, and extra napkins all around and they just kept saying "No, later!" Excuse me? What the hell is that? Through out the hour and a half we spent there eating, once we were done eating they then gave us what we asked for. The food was alright, noting special... Definitely NOT coming back! read more
