This review is for takeout service. There employee came out to the car when I parked... Fantastic! He helped to guide my selections then quickly placed the order. His estimate of 15 to 20 minutes for cooking time was spot on. I walked into the dining room, which was bright, pleasant, and seemed to satisfy all of the customers sitting there. It was not too crowded even though it had started to fill up by the time I left. The food was delicious and the portions were generous. It stayed hot and crispy and was well packed. I am very satisfied with my experience and would return. read more

Do NOT order fried clams from this place!! TWICE I have gotten the NOROVIRUS FOOD POISONING from the fried clams! Deathly ill with VOMITING and diarrhea for HOURS. Likely from a contaminated source... Less likely undercooked as the toxins aren't destroyed by cooking. Thought first time was an aberrancy but not so!!!! read more

We decided to give them another try since the last visit was horrible. Things have not changed. The popcorn shrimp is definitely not what is shown in their advertised pictures. Whatever they are passing off is definitely not popcorn shrimp. It is two to three times larger than what popcorn shrimp is supposed to be to be. The coating is crunchy while inside the meat is barely lukewarm and has a very strong fishy taste to it.It is so bad we just walked out. The last time we had the same thing and my wife got sick from it. Not taking that chance again. The quality had bottomed out. We won't be back!! read more

I went to Mayflower in Reidsville expecting some good oysters. Service was average even though our food was slow to get to the table. It was a Friday night, and the restaurant had about 50% of the tables and booths full. My oysters were horrible, nothing but breading! I ordered onion rings as a side and they were good, as well as the slaw. The unsweetened tea was weak and tasteless. I realize that this is about the end of oyster season, and hope that is the reason for this. In the future, I will order a combination, to increase my chances that at least part of my entree will be decent. The waitress never asked how our meal was, and neither did the cashier when we checked out. I will let some time pass before I pay them another visit. read more

Great Local Find with Big Portions and Friendly Service Not sure what brought us to Reidsville, but we decided to stop at this seafood restaurant after noticing their full parking lot. It's a classic, no-frills seafood spot with a laid-back atmosphere, excellent service, and huge portions. Everything was fresh and flavorful. A solid local find if you're in the area. I have been to this establishment many times, even as a little girl when we would visit NC. The food is consistently hot, fresh and flavorful Nothing ever tastes previously frozen. But I do have one complaint....this last time my mother and I did a pickup order, the popcorn shrimp were over seasoned. It is rare that I say this about most food establishments, but it was a bit salty to my tastebuds. If it weren't for that, I would give them 5 stars. They have daily specials and usually more than 1 each day. Some specials are all day and some are lunch time 11 am to 3 pm. read more

Had a nice lunch at Mayflower on a Tuesday around noon. The parking lot was almost full so we thought it would be packed inside but the space is huge so it didn't feel crowded at all. Nautical theme decor was cute if a bit kitschy. Service was friendly and welcoming. As for the food, I have to start with the tartar sauce! I can't enjoy fried seafood without really good tartar and the Mayflowers is excellent. Perfect balance of savory and sweet from the pickles and seasonings. Loved it. We had fried whitefish, jumbo shrimp and baby flounder. We chose baked potatoes for our side. The platters come with hush puppies and slaw. Puppies were ok but I didn't love the slaw, bitter tasting to me. All in all a tasty affordable lunch. I would revisit if in the area again at lunch time for sure! read more

First visit and definitely won't be my last. The food was amazing! Portions were really large and our service was just as great. This lil restaurant located on Freeway Drive in Reidsville, was extremely clean and employees were friendly. I had the broiled salmon and my son had the broiled catfish. We ordered a side of hush puppies and they are without a doubt the best I have ever had, not hard, crunchy, like so many other seafood restaurants . Highly recommend this location for families and groups. Tables are spread apart which is a huge plus. Great experience and reasonably priced. read more

We have lived in Reidsville 9 years. We had take out maybe twice from here. We have been missing out on the dine in. Their food is delicious and reasonable for the amount you receive. No, it's not like eating shrimp off the boat in Florida but it's a perfect fit for Reidsville. My husband said his salt and pepper catfish was amazing! What made it the best was the server. She was middle aged.. maybe 50s or 60s and had only been there a month. My 7yo old said her name was Carolyn? (I was chasing 1yo) she was probably the best server we have had in Reidsville. She was ON IT. We never went without anything and drink refills galore. You could tell she was a mama with not a detail missed to help us have the best dining experience with 3 kids. read more

With a pleasant, casual atmosphere, super nice employees, and fresh, delicious seafood, this is my favorite place to eat in Reidsville! One of the things I like the best about this restaurant is that the menu offerings are not complicated. You can just get one type of seafood, fried or broiled, or can get combinations of several, with less hidden calories than food at some fancy seafood restaurant chains. We ordered broiled jumbo shrimp, and a combo of broiled flounder, shrimp, and oysters, with sides of fresh salad, mouth-watering hush puppies, and large baked potatoes, and all the food was very satisfying. The portions were generous for the amount of money charged. Our super nice, attentive server (the one who moved there from Florida) really cared about making sure our dining experience was great. Order was missing slaws. Side salad lettuce was old, turning brown, had slimy cucumber, few onion slices and absolutely no cheese! Fries were barely warm and had no crisp at all, half fried as had no golden brown color, think fries had to have been baked? Hush puppies were tough too. Food taste, quality and quantity pitiful for high prices they charge these days! They charged a debit card fee which is absurd too. I wont return. Done with this restaurant. I will go to Red Lobster instead because their food quality, quantity and taste is far more superior and price comparable without extra debit card use fees!! read more

Unbelievable! That sounds a bit over the top but the value and simple menu layout makes the almost exclusively fried food dining experience a pleasure. Southern vibes mixed with seafood themed decor and 80's pop gives families and lunch wanderers a friendly and comforting experience. Portions were massive. The lunch special will fill you undoubtedly as most of the fares come with coleslaw, hush puppies and a choice of another side! A heaping hot plate will be delivered to you and quickly after you order it! The fried seafood we had at lunch yesterday was as good as any we've found anywhere - the NC coast, bigger cities, other states - wherever. The Popcorn Shrimp and the Baby Whitefish were fresh tasting, perfectly coated, perfectly fried. There was no hint of grease or staleness - just fresh, great tasting seafood, and the portions were very nice. It should be obvious that the only thing in common with Mayflower Seafood locations is the name, how that are managed is the difference. This location is fairly new (2 years or so), and is bright, clean, and airy. It is rather large with a equal number of booths and tables, and a separate take out entrance. The wait service was exceptional, friendly and attentive. The time for our order out of the kitchen was a little on the slow side, over 25 minutes for 2 daily special plates, and this was not due to customer pressure as there were few in house at the time. However, the wait was more than worth it. The pricing is very reasonable - the 2 daily specials (well sized), the House Salad (also a nice portion), and 2 drinks were $18.71, excluding tip. In addition to the seafood, we tried a House Salad with Blue Cheese Dressing which was very nice, and well sized for 2 to share. The Hush Puppies are the ring variety, and are solid, if a little sweet. The slaw was nice, as well, creamy and fresh tasting. The FFs unfortunately were awful - those ridged, rectangular rods of no flavor & no texture. We don't know anything about the restaurants other offerings, but if great tasting fried seafood is what you crave, you can find it here, and you will love it. We usually go to Burlington (Harbor Inn), or Kernersville (Captain Tom's), or Walkertown Seafood Shack, or Bayside Seafood in Greensboro, so traveling a little distance for seafood is not new, and we'll definitely be back here, and soon. Excellent dining experience. Our server was very nice and punctual with bringing us refills. Food tasted great. My husband especially enjoyed his shrimp. My only complaint was that my deviled crabs were slightly lukewarm though. My husband ordered oysters with his combination and found out at the register that there was an up charge for those. My GO TO restaurant for seafood! It seems to be many other people's favorite place to eat in Reidsville as well. Every time I schedule a meeting over a meal, the visiting party suggests that we meet there! haha I've never been disappointed with my meal there and have dined-in there many times. Looking for some good seafood? You can't go wrong with Mayflower in Reidsville. Since rebuilding from the ground up after the old building was destroyed by fire, they are doing all the seafood favorites better than ever along with some non-seafood offerings that are top notch. Everything Is always cooked perfectly & tastes fresh. Never greasy or too salty like what you get from their counter part right down "the hill". As good & even better than some seafood you get at those places at the coast that are supposed to have "the best seafood ever". Never had a steak here, but I've heard only good remarks on them, the chicken tenders are huge with a light breading & fried perfectly, you can tell they are fresh & not out of a box from the freezer. If you like chicken livers you're in luck, this is the best place I've ever had chicken livers from, I get them often here. I haven't had anything bad from here yet. The portions are more than enough to fill you up & the prices are good. These folks are doing it right. Picking up your to-go orders is fairly easy as take-out has it's own seperate entrance so you can get in & out pretty quick. Anytime I'm in the mood for some good seafood or chicken livers, Mayflower in Reidsville is my go-to establishment. read more

We got the Mayflower combo and pick 3 (fried jumbo shrimp, clams, and catfish). Everything was cooked to perfection. Shrimp were HUGE. Homemade cocktail and tartar sauces were fantastic. Restaurant is very large and plenty of seats. Staff were on the ball and very friendly. read more

Mayflower Seafood Danville, VA Seated immediately which is always nice and why i gave 2 stars Took a lil long to get appetizer and food. We all ordered 3 baked spaghettis. I think the waitress was new. She advised us that the spaghetti came with a salad and a side. She pointed out the sides on the back of the menu. We ordered fries, sweet potato and a loaded baked potato. The sides came after the food and the fries were cold. At the end of the meal, we boxed up all of the food we could not eat. The waitress brought the check, and I noticed a $1.99 charge on the bill. I inquired and was told it was for the loaded baked potato, First of all i should've been told it was an upcharge since i was told where to order the sides from I politely told the waitress that i was not willing to pay an extra $1.99 for cheese on a potato. The waitress left and spoke to the lady at the register. She returned and asked for the baked potato back lol!!! I opened the bag and the to-go container and put the baked potato in her hand. I asked if i would get another side in place of the potato and was told yes. I just told her to replace with a plain baked potato. She proceeded to the kitchen. When she returned, she advised me that she could not replace with another side because the spaghetti did not come with a side. LOL!!! WOW! What an experience. Talk about CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! I thought it was very unsanitary to take a potato out of a to-go container and take back to the kitchen. If the restaurant is doing that bad, wonder if it was given to another customer...hmmmmm. read more

The new Mayflower Restaurant in Reidsville is fantastic! The food is great and the staff is really nice. Of course they have the usual seafood menu (much of it fried) but you can also get many selections broiled. In addition to seafood, they have chicken and steaks and other items. The to-go section is nice, especially if you're in a hurry. No more going through the restaurant to place an order. Now you can go in a door on the side that is designated just for the to-go orders. Check out their daily specials which are really filling and cheaper than the menu prices. read more
