Not good for chaat and south indian snacks- took two stars off for that as none of our visits here have yielded good results for chaat or dosa. Chaat is better at chaat house. This place is good for indian cakes, biryani and some of the indo -chinese items. Thats the only reason they have two stars- hygienic and these items are decent. Not the most pleasant ambience , more functional of a place to eat and go . Be prepared to bus your table, wipe it clean etc. We usually get takeout. Food is generic, don't expect the authentic taste of some of these dishes to match up as they seem to reuse ingredients / fillings that don't necessarily match up. Example - masala filling in the masala dosa is reused in the bonda and other items. Its not the greatest. The quality of the food veers more towards this is hygienic food versus finesse- like the uneven, overly thick covering of the bonda where the prevalent taste is baking soda. It isn't too difficult to do better in terms of quality, these guys really need to step it up. They make indian food look bad. read more

This review is specific to Cake Order! I would not recommend ordering cake from here and here is the reason why. Let me break it down into three parts. Pre-Order: I was given a catalog with a lot of options, which I really liked, however, I had a Unicorn team party and needed a cake specifically on those lines. The very first day when I saw the catalog, gentleman (possibly the manager) told they could do any design based on the picture shown as well. I was ecstatic that I could go with my option. I went to the store a couple of days back to place the order and the moment I showed the picture I was told it can not be done! I mean when it was known that customized order could not be done why was I given false impression tot start with! During-order: Now I had no option but to go with them as I was already late as per a few other places I explored. So I decided to get cake props (unicorn theme) from Amazon and just take a normal cake from them, I gave all the specifications and left to grab it on the day of Birthday. Also, I was made to wait nearly 45 minutes with the guy taking my order being busy with other restaurant customers Post Order: The cake I got was not even close to what I had specified, I was infuriated but it was my little one's first birthday and I could not have spoiled my day and mood. Somehow I gathered my nerves and took the cake home. Prod I ordered from Amazon is what saved my day and it was able to mask the ugly cake. My two cents, don't go for a customized cake from these guys, maybe the ones mentioned in the catalog is what they are good at! We visited this bakery for the first time today. Gave a vibe of a typical indian halwai shop. It kinda made me nostalgic and I liked the feeling! We ordered samosas and paneer puffs. They have a lot of options for snacks. I found the samosas okay, not awesome. But its pretty convenient when you crave for chai and some snacks on a rainy evening in seattle. I didn't try this restaurant for a very long time after moving to Seattle. The Hyderabadi in me was missing that authentic biryani and other snacks. I came across this place while shopping at the grocery store of same name. I love their snacks such as puffs, plum cake and other Indian sweets. They also have amazing indo chinese food. I find this parking lot hard to navigate, but at 3pm on a Friday, at least there aren't a lot of cars. The place is dingy but had quite a few customers. There are several cases of sweet treats and bags of snacks for sale in addition to a hot food menu that included biryanis. I got a chicken 65 biryani and samosa to go (each came with sauces). The samosas were some of the largest and hottest I've ever encountered- the crust was too thick in places but not overly greasy, the filling was just fine, and the sauces were necessary to make the pastries flavorful. The biryani suffered from old spices but was otherwise decent. I will return some time to get some hard-to-find sweets and a different entree. read more

An Indian Bakery in Redmond? Yep, the only one that I know of in the Seattle area. Mayuri has a grocery store in a Redmond strip mall and the bakery and sweets shop is a separate business a couple shops to the left. I was not sure what to expect here. Indian bakery is surprisingly a rare concept in the States. Given that India was once under British rule, I compare this similarly to French colonization of Vietnam. I stuck with the baked goods, though they do have a good selection of sweets (chaat) here. The unusual thing about the baked goods is that I was not expecting the selection to be focused on cake selections as much as it was. Picked up four items, three of the cake variety here. I got a honey cake ($1.25), a pista roll ($1.25), a slice of chocolate truffle ($1.75) and a khasta kachori ($1.50). You probably are wondering what the last item is. Khasta kachori is a fried puff pastry with a spicy lentil filling. I liked it somewhat, though I expect I would have liked it even more fresh out of the oven. The filling was definitely an interesting array of spices. As for the cake selections, I found a couple of them to be a bit average. The honey cake was disappointing. Yellow sheet cake. Not very moist. The decoration of the cake is really nice, but the taste is not on par with it unfortunately. The chocolate truffle was better. While it was not very moist, I liked the chocolate truffle topping. It was a good deal and just as enjoyable as the cupcake I had from Cupcake Royale yesterday, but for less coin. But it was the pista roll that I enjoyed the most. It is similar to those Asian bakery swiss rolls except with a few different ingredients. Most noticeably, I saw chopped bits of pistachios. And I also believe cardamom. The flavors are good. The cakes here are a pretty good value, though they do not seem as moist as other shops I have been to. Kind of on par with supermarket bakeries. Parking can be a pain with a small parking lot and a number of restaurants, groceries and other shops around. The bakery offered a multitude of Indian sweets, pastries, chaat and other snacks. At the second I entered, my eyes went crazy looking at all the colorful pastries. We bought honey cakes and chicken puff. The seating area is huge, with several tables and chairs. The honey cakes were okay; I would have expected honey to be the dominating ingredient, but couldn't even taste a pinch of honey. However, the cake was moist and soft and I still liked it. The chicken puff was a dud. It was salty and didn't like the chicken filling inside the puff. Will return probably for the honey cake, but I don't plan on trying anything else here. read more

I have been to this place several times since I moved to Seattle area three years ago. Basically there are three parts to this store: Bakery: This section is actually their best! Of course, Mayuri being the only Indian bakery in the area plays a role here, but that is not the only reason. They are actually quite good. Their pastries and veg puffs are awesome. What prompted me to post a review today was the awesome cake they prepared for my son's first birthday. They had a good number of custom designs to choose from. I went ahead with an Eggless Pineapple cake with a Winnie the Pooh design to go with the Jungle theme we had chosen for the party. The cake was a hit at the party with everyone asking where we ordered it for! (See the cake photo that I have uploaded in the photos section) However, the cake was definitely on the pricier side. Sweets: Quite good. Probably the best on the eastside (although there are not many choices here). The Besan laddus and Gulab Jamuns are my favorite here. I personally didn't have a bad experience here. The food was pretty good the service was pretty good. We also bought a cake here for my nephews birthday. Hi all, this place is super! When I recently moved here to Redmond my apartment complex was in a very close proximity to the bakery, so it was often a destination for me to get desserts. I am always welcomed inside and the customer service is amazing. The black forest cake is so delicious I would find myself going there every day for dessert. I gained so much weight. When it is my kids birthday i make sure to pick them up early from kumon and take them to Mayuri so that they can get a treat. I also enjoy that it is local Indian owned restaurant and the service is fast. I can always get my pastry within a few minutes of getting inside, so i am never late to pick up my children from kumon. Overall I highly recommend this place to my fellow pastry lovers. read more

We have been to this place several times but recently the quality of good gas really gone bad. We ordered there masala dosas which was not great the masala had no salt in it first time I had masala dosa with out salt. The other dish we ordered was Paneer kathi roll that was a disaster I had 1-2 of bites of it and threw the rest as of it the bread was also extremely soft and could not hold the pan we cubes onions and had no flavor to it. They have multiple problems, (a) food quality and taste is below average (b) place is crammed and people keep running into each other (c) general restaurant hygiene is lacking. Mixed feelings about this place. While by no means is it close to "home cooked Indian food" (I've yet to find a place anywhere in the Seattle area that makes a dosa, idly, sambar or curry as well as you can make one at home), it's not nearly as bad as the other ratings would have you believe (I am inflating my review by a star to balance out the inordinate amount of haters out there). If you are going to whinge about "not tasting authentic" - go make friends with someone from south India and have them cook for you. You aren't getting that anywhere else in Seattle. Alternatively - if you aren't in the mood to make new friends, drive to Vancouver and check out the food there (Although you still will tend to get Home Punjabi food - so I guess you strike out there too for South Indian food). read more
