It took them more than 30 minutes to get my order and they refused to replace my pastry and puffs that had been sitting outside for more than 30 minutes - I believe Food safety is not being followed! I saw other people who came later who were getting served. I ordered - Chicken 65 biryani, samosa chat combo, puffs, laddoo (which are pre-maid). I have noted several issues: 1. When I approached them after 20 minutes, they said 2 minutes and it stretched for definitelty kore than that time. I told them my little one had been there and we needed to go. Based on their discussions, I kind of inferred that they had not even started on my biryani. How was that possible? I had ordered before and how were they starting on preparing other people's foods who had come later? 2. I would not care so much about the lateness ( I saw other customers approaching the cashier's desk with the same problem saying it's been over 30 minutes) as I completely understand things happen and I would have been totally ok if not for the below issue: They had wrapped my pastry(part of the samosa chat combo), laddoos and chicken puffs and they had been sitting outside for 30 minutes. I may not know much but I do know that non vegetarian and pastries need controlled environment or they start spoiling quicker at room temperature. I asked a staff member to please replace my puffs and pastry. She wasn't too happy about it. Why? Isn't food safety a concern for you? And, I believe she didn't even change the brown bag which had been used to store the chicken puffs. Can't you put it in a new small brown bag? Apologies from my end if she used a new bag but the brown bag was very oily and I think that happens only if the puffs are in there for quite sometime. Feedback: 1. Please let the customers know how much time it takes for the food? I completely understand sometimes it takes too long ... it's fine but just let us know so we can plan accordingly, especially with kids 2. Food safety: If non vegetarian items or refrigerated items are sitting outside for too long, hopefully, you should be open to replace/refund them. I like Mayuri a lot! I come every week to the restaurant and we love your food and we always recommend it to others. We even cater from Mayuri and recommend it to others as well. It's sad to see this happen. It's soooo bad. We visited this place on a weekend and had dilli chat and paneer 69 biriyani. Biriyani rice were so dry, paneer was also dry. We dint eat even half of it. Chat papri was tooooo cold and tooooo crispy. Uncomfortably crispy and cold. Not good. We gave another shot and visited again and had dosa. I have ordered mutton biryani and chicken 65 biryani. The rice in chicken 65 biryani was under cooked. In the mutton biryani there was a stone which I accidentally bit and it hurt bad. Onions were burnt and had a bad taste. on a side note, the rice was well cooked in mutton biryani. The spices were right in the chicken biryani. This place has a few things that really bring me back to my childhood. It's authentic South Indian, albeit simple non-upscale foods. You know, the meatloaf, mashed potatoes and gravy of South India. If it weren't so cheap, I'd give it 4 stars. They also do lots of fancy Indian desserts. Your mileage may vary with these. The reason other people give it low stars is because they don't get or appreciate authentic South Indian food. Stopped by for some chaat (street snacks) before going on an Indian grocery run next door. Tried the chilli chaat, samosa and elaichi chai. Chilli chaat isn't such a standard chaat item, so I wasn't sure what to expect. It turned out to be a chopped up chilli bhajji (a cousin of chile relleno) with chaat fixings (chutneys and assorted crunchy bits). A nice idea, but the execution wasn't fantastic. The chile stalks had been left on, so there were some unexpected fibrous bits. The samosa was better; the potato filling was nicely spiced. The crust had lost some of its crispness, though, as reheated fried foods tend to. I also wasn't a huge fan of the thimble of thin tamarind chutney it was served with. The geometry of dunking a samosa into a thimble is non-trivial. I ended up dipping it in my chilli chaat instead. Not much to be said about the elaichi chai (cardamom tea), except that it was nice and heavy on the cardamom, but a bit light on the tea. Besides chaat, they sell bakery items, mitthai (sweets) by the pound, and some actual full meals, including a few Indian-Chinese dishes. The stuff I tried was pretty middle-of-the-road, but it is nice to know I have a source of Indian junk food available if I ever get nostalgic. read more

I like the cakes (tortes) on offer at Mayuri. They're always fresh and taste like European tortes. Some of their Indian sweets (e.g. Chocolate Burfi) taste really good and are always fresh; some are not. Their "Milk Cake" looks nothing like the original; same for the "Pateesa". Why serve inauthentic fare? 3.5 stars here. As for food, it is not good food, but quite similar to the food you find in Mumbai fka Bombay. Do not go here expecting to find outstanding North Indian cuisine for you won't. However, the portions are large and the preparation is faultless. I do like their Triple Fried Rice -- very similar to what you find in Bombay! Service is friendly for an Indian place. 3.5 stars. An average of 3.5 stars, rounding it down to 3. The only reason I ever go to Mayuri is there is no other option for chaat on the eastside. The chaat here is a bad excuse for chaat - the ingredients are always random and quality inconsistent. But its still 2.5/5 just for that. Esp. since they have a decent variety available, wait time isn't huge and prices are low. They also retail a lot of other things such as snacks, sweets etc. I have only had bad experience with those. I tried their Jalebi once and it was terrible. I told the owner that it had a weird aftertaste. The owner proceeded to tell me it's because I havent has Jalebi before and "it's supposed to be like this" rather than actually taking it as customer feedback and doing something about it. I have been to this location 3 times now and I am not at all impressed. Their pastries are average at best and too expensive at $3 apiece. The chat is truly horrible. The bhatura in chana bhatura was oily and overfried. They have no clue how to make chole and make it like a weird curry. The papri chat and dilli chat tried 2 times was bad as well with an insipid green chutney, a food color red chutney instead of tamarind goodness. I had a troubled stomach both times I ate here. My friend ordered a sweet corn soup only to discover there were 2 teaspoons of sugar added at least in the soup and had to throw it away. A masala tea was over sweet and under spiced with elaichi. Since I cook decent Indian food myself I won't be back here despite the convenience. I brought my mom- the superstar cook - here once and she was truly horrified at the newly increased prices and the substandard food. She wanted to open her own chaat place...just so no one has to experience this fare.
