Chicken shawarma Platter
Hunter S.

Previously known as Khyber Pass on St. Mark's Place in Manhattan. Closed down at the beginning of COVID and was reborn as Mazadore Kebab in Tappan, NY. Afghan and Mediterranean food. They have all types of kebabs. I like the chicken, but you can get lamb, beef, barg (filet mignon), salmon, and more. Meat is always well cooked and moist. Fresh. Has fragrant rice as an accompaniment. The chicken platter comes with the famous red and white sauce and usually comes with a crisp little green salad. They also have a nice falafel! They have a great appetizer section full of savory turnovers, dumplings, baba ganoush. I like their boulanee kachaloo, which is a turnover filled with herbs, spices, and tasty potatoes. They also have some salads and vegetarian dishes. Prices are super reasonable. A chicken platter is like 11 bucks. A kebab is under 13. You can really put together a feast for little money. Service is always fast and efficient while always being nice and getting my order correct. I am glad this little piece of NYC came to this side of the Hudson.

My mixed platter was excellent! Everything tasted fresh and delicious. The restaurant itself is unassuming on the inside and outside. Came here at 12:30 on a weekday and there was no wait. Huge parking lot with ample parking!

Back again with the lunch order for 10 people. Sean and his one trusty employee knocked it out of the park again serving up fresh and tasty food for all to enjoy! Restaurant was big time busy but everything was prepared quickly and with care. Looking forward to going back again! A real gem!

We were in the area and happened to find this place around lunch time. It was a pleasant surprise. It isn't huge inside, but it is clean and the service was friendly. There was a lot to choose from in the menu. We did the chicken kebab and the shish kebab. Service was quick and the food was flavorful. We were glad we found this place!

Wanted to try something new in my neighborhood... wow, what a pleasant surprise. My wife and I picked up the lamb shawarma and the falafel sandwich. Both EXCELLENT. Taste: simple, but done very well. I can't tell you how many places put bells and whistles that you don't need. At first look, it's pretty plain. But boy, do they hit you with the taste. My lamb was warm, juicy, flavorful. The choice of pita as well didn't feel thick and generic. Wrapped well, and with the sauces on the side, my shawarma was just perfect. The falafel was my wife's, I had a bite. Pretty good but I'm not a big falafel person so I cant go in Depth. Pricing: I spent less than $20... where do you even find that nowadays? This was the kicker for me. I'm budget minded. So quality and pricing won me over big time. Just added this place as one of my go to's for a quick bite BUT, I would not mind trying them out for dinner. Saw a lamb shank special for $15... and I saw the shanks myself... they looked tasty. Can't wait to confirm.

This is the second time we ate here and the food was very good. I had shawarma lamb with rice and salad and my husband had the salmon with rice and salad. Both meals were delicious. They are open until 11pm so it's very convenient. Service is very good, they are very nice people. Always with a smile that make you feel welcome. Both times the place was super clean. We'll definitely come back more often. Thank you guys.

What a great new addition to the Rockland/Bergen area! I have been wanting to try this place since I heard they opened just a few weeks ago and I was not disappointed!! I was greeted warmly by the super sweet owner who took my order promptly. I had some trouble deciding what to pick because everything looked good (and VERY reasonably priced). I ended up getting the chicken shawarma which comes with either rice or salad. I chose salad. I also got French fries and two drinks. Everything was freshly cooked right in front of me but I didn't have to wait long at all. The food was DELICIOUS and the portions were sizable. So fresh and well seasoned. I particularly liked the sauces on the chicken and the minty dressing on the salad. I even ordered some baklava to bring home. My family and I loved it! I also had a lovely time talking to the owner. He was so kind and attentive throughout the meal. I'm so happy to find a new spot in the area and will definitely be bringing friends/family. I highly recommend you check it out. After the past two years, it is more important than ever that we support local restaurants and small businesses like this one.

This new addition to Rockland Cty is a nice change from all the fast food joints & pizza palaces. The owner greets with a warm smile. He assists the newbies like me understanding the unfamiliar items on the large menu ( of dine in, order ahead or takeaway items). The meal, I chose Shish ( lamb) Kabob with Kabuli Palow ( white or browned Basmati rice is also available) a mixture of rices with raisins and shredded carrots. It was served hot, delicious and tender. I also had ( why not try stuff) an appetizer of Boulanger Kadu ( crispy hot turnover filled with puréed pumpkin and served with cool yogurt sauce). This new business ( I hope he succeeds) opened during a major facelifting of the strip center in anticipation of a new anchor, Lidl market. Hence hard to get past all the ongoing construction. But well worth the effort. I will go back for more soon.

Excellent spot for delicious kebabs without breaking the bank! Apparently this place used to be in NYC but has now moved to Tappan, NY and I wish them all the success as I will definitely be returning.

Loved the food. Exceptionally friendly and polite staff. All the food was delicious and fresh. The sauces were just right. Thanks for a lovely evening. I think we have found our new favourite Afghan restaurant. Highly recommended!!!

The building itself is white with with a blue door and accents and the walkway from the entrance to the dining area is decorated with sculptures in recessed cubbies in the wall. The main dining room is spacious and inviting with a lush ceiling and touches of warm, golden furnishings. It was bustling on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. Diners were seated indoors and outdoors. We didn't get a chance to see the outdoor space but on a hot and sunny day, my family was fine and comfortable in the shade indoors. Our waiter was friendly and attentive. Once I was seated and waiting for the rest of my party, he advised the time for last orders to be placed. My party of 6 ordered almost every appetizer and several of the limited number of mains offered on the lunch menu. The appetizers came out as they were ready. The beet salad and lobster salad came out first and were refreshing. The saganaki and watermelon appetizer was an interesting pairing and surprisingly delightful. We ordered two of the grilled octopus as it's usually a favorite within my group when dining at a Greek or Mediterranean establishment. Unfortunately, the octopus came chopped in small pieces and was uninteresting. IMHO this dish is not worth the price or the calories. Of the set of 4 spreads/dips, all were tasty and went nicely with the accompanying pita bread. We ended up doubling on this. The crispy shrimp and calamari, eggplant and zucchini chips, and the Greek meatballs were satisfying and a hit with everyone. Despite the disappointment with the grilled octopus, overall the appetizers were much more impressive than the entrees. For our mains, we got 2 of the filet mignon with eggs, the sirloin burger, the Lountza sandwich, the chicken souvlaki, the crispy shrimp wrap, and the shrimp roll. If we had to rank these dishes, the chicken would top the list, followed by the sirloin burger, and the rest would be last. Consistency in preparation and flavor profiles of the dishes is lacking. For example, we requested the filets cooked medium, however one filet was medium in some parts, medium rare in others. Personally, I enjoy medium rare and ate those pieces. As for the other filet, it was medium rare and borderline rare and inedible for my party. We requested additional heat for the dish, which the kitchen accommodated, but the meat came back basically well done SMH. While the chicken and burger were juicy and appetizing, the other dishes, albeit topped with many ingredients, were bland. Perhaps the kitchen was overwhelmed, which resulted in receiving our entrees about two hours after placing the order and the poor, or at least decline in quality of, execution of our dishes. Considering the restaurant has been open almost two years, it is normal to expect experience in managing the weekend crowds. While we were advised about the hard stop on placing orders, it was a missed opportunity for our waiter to check if we wanted to add desserts to our meal. No warning or follow-up was made as the cutoff time was approaching. Normally, I would praise the experience and service, but the final straw was in the handling of leftovers and with the valet. We had several unfinished or untouched dishes we wanted packed to go. Upon checking the containers at home, not everything was packed. When waiting outside for our cars, one of our cars was already pulled up with the door open and ready to be driven away. Problem was, the car belonged to my sister, who was in the restroom at the time and had her ticket. Anyone could've driven her car away. Thankfully the valet cooperated and drove the car to the side and my sister retrieved it without incident. Overall, the experience was lengthy and off-putting. If you need a beautiful space with a good selection of small bites and have hours to spare, e.g. a special event, then this place is for you. If you are interested in a full meal, and have only 2-3 hours for a meal, this is not the place for you.

So I booked it for my wife's birthday and was excited to take her and our two kids. This is not a family friendly place. My kids are very well mannered and yet it seemed not welcomed there. Clearly you're under a ticking clock (1.5 hr limit)and the wait staff is impatient, the menu is dense which is great because there's a lot of interesting and unique dishes. But they don't give you time to understand and decide. We had soft shell crab, was very good, fried zucchini blossoms were decent but needed salt, the meatballs were good but needed salt. Pizza was good. I had the porchetta which was good. The squid ink pasta was solid. Wine was great value at $60 a bottle for all Italian wine. We had the Chardonnay and it was the highlight of the meal. But it was hard to enjoy it with the vibe that we somehow were imposing. Honestly it was all male servers plus the owner and I think a woman's touch for hospitality would go a loooong way here to help this place be more convivial. The weirdest and off putting ambiance thing is that they were playing country music which did not vibe with the joint at all. We didn't stay for desert, and glad we didn't.
