Camarones Al mojo de aho was delicious!
    Chelsea C.

We stumbled on this spot for a Michelada. Everything was Fresh and delicious. The Miche was very well done. A nice balance of savory and beer. It's a Traditional mariscos restaurant with a wide range of seafood dishes and traditional plates. We really enjoyed our Micheladas, tostada and camarones al mojo de aho. The tortillas weee slightly charred like I like them. The salsas that accompany the plates are made in house and very good.

This place is awful! Horrible service i had to ask twice for my drink because she forgot and she didn't even give me what i asked for. My carne was so burnt it was black. The waitress did not check on us once and it was so empty.

That's about 8 shrimps. Skip this place. Go to perihuete! Better quality and value for your price.

No stars what so ever. Went in cause Google said it was 4 in a half stars. Hell no! Crap and over priced. Bought a large, Large Camaron Coktel. It was a 12 oz cup only filled maybe 10oz. No avocado, caldo tastes like oregano . No limes or napkins inside the bag. Just chips, what am I gonna do with chips? Waitress was sooo rude. I know we are in some sort of recession but this was horrible. Skip this place and head to perihuete. Never again!

OH My Gahh! So I've been in search of a place to have caldos in the chilly days. I came to Mazatlan and had one of their soups and I'm glad I did. The soup was a good portion and I enjoyed every bite. It has sazón! The ambiance is welcoming and the service was great. Everyone with a smile and made you feel at home. I continue to get my hot soups/caldos from Mazatlan. Enjoy!!

The food was ok, their green salsa was very good. The service we got was very bad. We had to get up multiple times to get service.

Wow! New to the neighborhood (just moved from the paved side of Santa Ana), I've been looking for two things...A good Mexican place and a Mariscos spot...looks like I may have found both here in Mazatlan Restaurant Tacos de Governador (steak and shrimp)...This may be the best taco I've ever eaten...This meal... As you walk in, before you place your drink order you are given a small cup of soup with a whole shrimp in it, along with chips and salsa, onions, cilantro, extra sauces, etc...I really recommend the taco de governador & the taco de marlin (just what you think it is)...it's served with a small side of beans. The flavors...even before you add these complimenting sauces...Wow... The coctels are great too! Mazatlan Restaurant, you've made my weekly rotation... Beers $3.25...

OMG I loved the food here. My brother brought us here and I loved the food here. The tacos de gobernador and camarones de agua chile and camarones sinaloense were the best. We ordered a little of everything and we weren't disappointed. Excellent customer service and the best food.

What a dining experience! I've been wanting to check this place out because of the great experiences that I had at another location, in a new center that has since closed. This location is the "original". This location was DEFINITELY a different experience. You know those hole in the wall places that you drive by that are either hidden gems or places you would never set your foot in to? This is one of those places. What kind of dining experience did I have? Getting a seafood soup as a standard appetizer? "Nice" Getting big ass shrimp in the soup? "Very nice" Getting big ass shrimp with the head still attached and the eyes looking up at you as if to say 'Why me?' " Mazatlan nice!" Watching the Laker game with a cold Corona in your hand? "Yes!" Wathcing the Laker game with a cold Corona along with chips and awesome salsa? "I could get used to this!" Watching the Laker game with a cold Corona in your hand, eating chips and salsa and wondering 'Why there is a 3 foot huarache on the wall?' "Wait, how many of these things have I had?" Going to a restaurant with an friendly and attractive wait staff? "Nice" Going to a restaurant with a friendly, attractive wait staff dressed in impossibly short skirts? "Interesting..." Going to a restaurant where the friendly, attractive wait staff in impossibly short skirts clean the restrooms at the end of the nigh? "Surreal" Overall it is an interesting place...very Mexican...please don't take offense to that...I don't mean that as a slight...lot's of beer, women dressed provactively, sports on the big screen...not unlike Hooters or numerous other places...just with Mexican food instead of fried crap. The staff will likely speak to you in Spanish unless and until you speak to them in English. They are very nice though. The food is good but not great. I had chicken enchiladas and chicken tacos....rice, beans and a "salad" on the side of course....lots of chips with 4 types of salsa to choose from...lime and onion on the side. Overall, very fun...would have been better if the Lakers won, though.

    Pescado Zarandeado!!! Delicioso!

Great Experience! Service is very friendly/attentive and great eye-candy! It is a very casual spot with delicious authentic Mexican food. You MUST try the following: -fish ceviche -marlin tacos -tacos gobernador -tacos de carnitas/chicharron -guacamole salsa -request thick tortilla chips and REFRIED BEANS (to die for!) -PESCADO ZARANDEADO You have the option to get small or large sized tacos. I personally prefer the small tacos. The tortilla is slightly toasted on the grill and it has CHEESE!!! Try it with their salsas-de piquin, habanero, and soy sauce mix-my personal fave! Their beans are sooo authentic! They taste just like my moms Sinaloense Refried beans and go perfectly with the thick freshly fried tortilla chips. The pescado zarandeado is full of flavor!!! MUST try! Enjoy your food with their extensive Mexican beer selection! Cheers! Provecho!

I've only been here once, but just from that I can already tell I'm going to want to come again. I came with my boyfriend just off of a whim that we wanted seafood. I live near here and always used to pass by on my way to the dentist, doctor, grocery store, etc. I looked it up on yelp and saw some pretty good reviews, so I suggested we try it. My boyfriend LOVES seafood, especially coctel. So we both ordered that. I also ordered a taco de marlin just to try it because I had never really heard of it. It was really good! We also really liked the coctel. It was a little different, but I liked it. My boyfriend also though it was good (got his stamp of approval) and I trust his judgment on seafood. The service was pretty great. There was limited parking, but we made it work. When we got in, we were attended to pretty well. It was busy and there was a game going on, but the staff was nice and kept us updated on wait time. When we got seated, we received great service and got all our questions answered. I would definitely recommend this place. It is a "hole in the wall" but I give it two thumbs up. I always hated walking by there though because of the liquor store next to it (I've run into creepy dudes) but overall it's not too bad. I've been meaning to take my mom there so hopefully she'll love it too.

First of all one of their workers with the mastche and tattoos is so cute which is always a plus for the ambiance. It didn't take long to get our food. About 5 minutes and they brought it out to where we sat since we dined in. First of all! You need to get an aguas fresca. We got the medium for the orange mango and the Jamaica. They are so natural. I'm a huge fan of artificial flavor so this was a huge shock, but it pairs so well with their food. My only regret isn't getting the large. For the food we got the burrito 2.0 asada and the chivichanga chicken. The burrito was great but very heavy on the beans. Make sure you get extra green salsa. It's their best and a perfect balance of salty with a hint of sweet. The red salsa gets spicy. If you can't handle hot Cheetos don't eat it. Now the chivichanga thing was perfect. It's so tiny but the fact it's about $5 was perfect. I have never had something so well priced and portioned before. The way I can describe it if you ever wanted to taste high class Taco Bell that will make you want four more then you need to try it. And I mean this in the best way possible. It's so cheesy and savory and yummy!!! Truly just from these two dishes we will be coming back to try the rest of the menu. Our next dishes is to try the tacos!

We ordered caramelos with the poblanos inside, as well as their horchata. Tortillas are some of the best I've had. Super soft and flavorful from the grill. The fillings and salsa were good too, but it was really wet, and the bean ratio especially compared to the meat, was a little off. Always am going to want more meat. Horchata was unique since it was coconut based. Overall solid spot with patient staff. Tacos La Rueda is still better, but will be back when in Long Beach.

It's normally taco Tuesday or dinner. It wasn't busy when we arrived. Mainly everyone was seated outside which we wanted a table as well. There was one that we were interested in and asked if we could have it which the waitress working was ok with. But it needed clearing up. It took a while for someone to come out and clear and clean the table up. It was fine waiting but it was like did someone forget about us. Anyways. We got seated and then the waiting continued. It could be that they were short staff but it seemed like there was only one person working. It took a while for someone to finally come back and acknowledge us and take our order. After that the chips and salsa were brought out. Once we ordered the drinks it was easier to place everything together. Menu for happy hour is pretty limited. A few drinks and beer on drafts and for food, maybe 6 items on the menu. Went with an order of the street corn which was quite tasty. An order of the mole chicken nachos and the queso dip with barria. Out of the three, the queso dips and the street corn were great. Nachos were good but nothing really major. The flavors of everything were quite tasty. Dishes were 12.00 an item. For happy hour, it was decent and what we had was good. The service was pretty slow at the beginning. Only the front patio and inside seating was available as the back patio wasn't open. We did start to see other staff walking in so maybe there was only one staff during the time.

The soup here lacks the tastebud awakening zip that Don Chato's has. The ono fish taco experience was my fault... I hate fried fish taco, so I had lofty expectations, but due to the fact that I do not prefer corn tortillas, guacamole or raw onions, led to much disappointment since It has all three. Totally my fault. The butternut enchilada was lacking in the expected savoriness... this is being polite. The potato taquito was okay... but I am not a taquito person, so if you are I would seriously encourage you to try it. The star of the table was the Mexican corn. It may not compete with Cornman in Lincoln Heights, but it was decent. I scraped off the onions and toppings on the ono tacos, put the fish on the flour tortillas that another person didn't want, and topped the fish with refried beans, street corn and a but if the chicken tortilla soup broth to make due. When you are driving more than 30 minutes for this experience, I think you would agree that it was less that a proper way to celebrate a birthday. Oh and if there isn't any street parking. It'll cost you about 9 bucks in the lot. I didn't use the restroom, so I cant review its cleanliness. Our waitress was flawless taking orders and delivering food The restaurant itself has a great layout and an outdoor courtyard complete with propane heaters and umbrellas - I loved that... but my favorite part was out front, no not the seating area in the former parking spaces, nope... it was the collapsed woman on the sidewalk, walking her dog with snot running out of her nose because she was huffing some aerosol can of whatever. This truly set the mood upon arrival. Two stars for being close to a lot of other food choices to visit afterward.

Palapa next door offers the same food menu but has more drink options. Many opted for outdoor seating on the terrace due to the gorgeous views, but not wanting to wait we agreed to indoor seating. The interior of the restaurant is also very beautiful. The bathrooms were too dark for my tastes though. Our waitress was absolutely phenomenal, super friendly and anticipating all of our needs (water refills, leftover containers, etc.). Service overall by all staff was friendly. We were actually presently surprised with the taste of the food, thinking it might be more Americanized but they actually had very authentic and tasty totopos (tortilla chips). The tomato salsa that came with the chips was also very refreshing. We asked for hot sauce too and the house habanero salsa really packed a punch! We ordered carne asada nachos, pork belly chilaquiles (from the brunch menu), a breakfast burrito, poke, and steamed clams. The steamed clams came in a rich tomato broth and the breakfast burrito was massive. The poke was just okay and the chilaquiles a bit too soggy for me, and the carne asada nachos a bit dry. Nonetheless, presentation and portion sizes were respectable. The last comment is that food here is quite pricey but that reflects the likely high rent of a restaurant in 2nd and PCH. Ola still exceeded expectations and provided a more than pleasant meal.

Me "What so you mean, we ordered these drinks on Happy Hour and now you are telling us there is no Happy Hour as advertised." Server: "Well, we don't do Happy Hour when there is an event in the area, so they are full price." Second interaction (after waiting 45 minutes for a table in the restaurant). We ordered the "made to order table side guac" for 15.50 for an appetizer. About 10 minutes later, a guac is delivered to the table that was either run through a blender or was taken from a tub with a spoonful of pico mixed in. So much for the advertised table side experience or fresh avocado. The guac we buy at Trader Joe's and from Costco are way better. Third Interaction when ordering an entree. I order enchiladas and they have red or green sauce. I ask, Can I get both red sauce on one and green sauce on the other? Response, "well there's an extra charge for that". Besides being lied to about "Happy Hour" and about the "Table-side" Guac and them being told a basic request is going to cost extra, it's is c extremely clear that this place has no respect for their customers and no expectation that anyone will return. I know the 6 local people in our group will never return.
