My first successful visit (please note they are closed on Mondays :) ) I indulged in the Lamb Chops Plate. Even though I like my meat cooked well done, these chops were so tender and juicy and seasoned to perfection. They offer a great deal of sides, which you can see on display. All the sides I've had have always been fresh. The hummus and tabbouleh salad are my favorites, but please try the others. On Fridays, they offer Kunafah (dessert) and regularly offer Kibbeh (deep fried meat with spices, onion and grain). My go-to dish is the Chicken Shawarma Lavash Wrap with a side of hummus. Please note that there is also a pita style one. Only once did they give me the wrong style and now if I order in-person I make a point of repeating Lavash, not Pita. So tasty and easy to eat on the go. Please note that parking is always a challenge. They have about a dozen spots in the front and maybe 10 in the back. It's adjacent to a residential neighborhood, so street parking is also a challenge. The last time I was there, I had to park on the street after crossing the busy street. I wanted to try Mazra because of good reviews and ratings. I placed an order pickup and arrived around 3pm, the restaurant was almost empty. Since it was my first time I didn't know there was a separate window for pick up orders. I got there and I was kinda standing inside, near the door, hoping somebody could help me with my pick up order. There were 4 servers working, whom I made eye contact with every single person, multiple times. Nobody offered to help or asked me if I need something. Servers just looked at me standing and went on their way. I stood at door for about 10 minutes with no one acknowledging me. I didn't want to interrupt their work so I decided to wait politely. But nobody was giving a shit, even tho they were standing two feet from me lol Finally a one woman server helped directing me to pick up window. Again, the restaurant was not busy at all. The absolute BEST place to get your Mediterranean / Arabic food in the bay area! You can tell too, there's NEVER NOT a line whenever I go and since I'm coming from Cupertino, I always tend to order ahead and love that they provide this! We always get the Deluxe Kabob Family Pack - the lamb chops and lamb are EXTREMELY flavorful and surprisingly not overcooked or dry. The chicken, beef, and shrimp are also terrific but the lamb is definitely a highlight! Other add ons we get: The grilled scallops ($15 is an ABSOLUTE STEAL) 4 pieces, very tasty and fresh, sometimes they throw in an extra one if the other pieces are small so they're extremely fair! Whole cauliflower: great appetizer to start the meal off! Things that come with the orders - garlic creamy sauce (BEST PART OF THE MEAL TO ADD ON), my favorite sauce to put on! They also have a red smokey slightly spicy sauce which is great as well but the garlic creamy sauce is truly the most memorable! The place is set up so that you order first and then wait for your meal and find your own seat if you plan to dine in. Recently, they forget to give us one of our entrees and I only realized after I returned home to the South Bay and we were preparing to eat. I called them to let me know and the owners were so kind! One of my new favorites (I'll be joining a big club judging from the waiting line!) You order in a line, get a beeper to pick up food, and seat yourself. There's a large inside dining space as well as wrap around outside dining space. It's a well run fast casual restaurant. Heads up I couldn't find the restaurant name easily, there is a big sign outside called Green Valley Market. We ordered - purple cauliflower - delicious, get this! - salmon plate - incredibly perfectly cooked and giant portion, loved this! - two kebab plate - whole roasted chicken - street fries - raspberry and mint lemonades - loved these!! The vibes inside was very fun and inviting and I loved that you could smell the charcoal from the workers grilling outside! It's an order first and then get seated type of restaurant and I thought that finding a seat would be difficult but I was actually able to find one right away. They also have a self serve station for utensils, water and complimentary black tea! I ordered the double kebab plate with chicken and beef and my bf got the signature chicken shawarma plate. Both of the plates came with a pita and 2 sides and we got the hummus, baba ghanoush, garlic potatoes and fries. The kebabs were cooked to perfection with the a variety of spices and smoky flavors. The hummus was super rich and creamy. The fries were the perfect amount of crisp, with not even one fry soggy! We also got the fresh juice (cantaloupe and pineapple juice) and the baklava (pistachio, chocolate and cinnamon). Everything here is super fresh!! The baklavas are made fresh everyday and they had the perfect amount of layers to it! The fresh juice had little chunks and cantaloupe and pineapple and was super refreshing! Mazra is simply extraordinary. I chose to stay a night in San Bruno to catch an early morning flight out of SFO, and little did I know I would have an amazing meal, thanks to finding Mazra on Yelp! Once I figured it out, I walked into a beautiful, modern dining room that made me regret getting takeout to eat in my hotel instead of their beautiful space. I arrived right at my pickup time and my order was ready, handed to me by a wonderfully friendly gentleman who made me again regret carrying out instead of sticking around with these lovely people. I decided on a simple order of their crispy purple cauliflower and a la carte half garlic rotisserie chicken. Few ingredients, clearly high quality, delicious, and cooked to perfection - truly the mark of a great restaurant. I've never had a whole cauliflower that was cooked so perfectly - tender and darkly browned to bring out cauliflower's best. Plus it was absolutely gorgeous! I didn't even bother to try the sauce because a squeeze of lemon was enough to enhance the flavor even more. The rotisserie chicken had a gorgeous crispy skin and was wonderfully flavorful, even without the terrific garlic paste on the side. But I'd definitely recommend the paste! You can practically smell Mazra when you walk in as the smokey aroma of foods grilling is so luring. Keep in mind this also makes your clothes smell smokey too. Tons of options and good menu selections. Price point is fair for the area, but upwards of $20+ if you want a complete meal. I got to try their in house lemonade, which was a treat. The grilled veggies are my favorite side dish and most of the dishes are pretty substantial in size. The wraps in my opinion are a little small for my personal liking. So very happy that this place showed up in our search area. Not too far from the San Francisco Airport makes this such an incredible find. Super fresh food, made from scratch, this whole experience was mind blowing. The chili sauce was delightful and the right kind of spice not to overpower your senses. Consistently one of the best places to eat in South San Francisco. The lines are long, and there is a reason for that. The food is always absolutely fresh, delicious and on point. My favorite is the garlic rotisserie chicken, which comes with a big sized rotisserie chicken, 2 sides, and the best garlic sauce. The falafel Mezza platter is something I always ordered to go with an entrée or for a starter. The drinks are also really delicious especially the cantaloupe, pineapple juice and the mint lemonade. The salmon plate is also really delicious and the desserts were also good, but I'm just generally not a fan of Baklava or the dessert served here. Ambience is chill, but also really, really busy. When you enter you, lineup and menus are available for you to review. At the end of the line, you will order your food at the cashier who will give you a buzzer. What's new is in order to get a table, you sign up on a sheet with your buzzer number and number of people, and a server will direct you to an open seat. This is a better system since , before they implemented this, people would have one person order and another claim a seat, which could get really frustrating for others who didn't do that. I really like the cool and modern and tasteful artwork on the walls. There's not really much service and most things are self service so for instance, you get your own utensils, water, and hot tea. The self service section also has plastic bags and to-go containers. I generally don't like really busy restaurants, but I feel like the food is so good that I generally tune out the environment and just focus on the food. They have some outdoor seating in the front with patio heaters; a newer main dining area with tons of table and some booth options; and their ordering counter with additional seating in the back. They have tons of local art on the walls, hanging plants, chic lights, and it feels really open. They also have two private restrooms which were super clean. The employees are always really helpful when recommending dishes, and are so friendly! ~ Drink ~ We tried the honeydew juice ($4), which was super refreshing! They also had a raspberry lemonade which was tart (in a good way), and a hibiscus tea-like drink. ~ Food ~ ・Garlic Rotisserie Chicken ($18): This garlic-infused half chicken is always really juicy and flavorful; it's served over a hearty portion of their rice which is fluffy. I went with the Arabic Salad and Cucumber Yoghurt for my sides--both are fantastic and a cool contrast to the warm chicken. I first came here for a Yelp Elite event back when this place was just starting out. After trying their menu for the first time I got hooked! I always come back here and have recently been bringing friends here for post-Cinemark eats as it's right by the theater at Tanforan. From coming here so often and from following them on social media, I'm so impressed with the overall vibe this place sets up for its customers. The servers and staff are all incredibly chill and friendly. They get into different holidays (check out the photos of their spooky sauces for Halloween now that it's September) and have great art on display as well. The food itself is delicious, and I've been making my way down their entire menu, trying something different each time. This weekend I split the chicken shawarma plate with veggies and fries along with some falafel. Eating at the restaurant, the food was quick to come out and was piping hot. The spices and sauces were all perfection. I'm so happy that this place in my hometown is getting the attention it deserves. Got takeout on a Saturday night. I ordered online around 6:30pm. They say it'll take about 30 minutes, but plan for longer times. They were super packed. I got the double kebab plate with chicken and lamb, falafels, and sambusa. Falafels were kind of small, but they had a good crispy exterior and a moist interior. The sambusa were my favorite. It had a light crispy shell, and it was hefty. The kebabs were tasty, but they the meat was pretty dry. I though the portions were a good size. I got hummus and Arabic salad for my sides. The hummus was delicious, and the salad was refreshing. The pita bread was fluffy and still warm by the time I ate it. They were out if the lamb shank by the time I ordered. We ended up parked at the residential area. You ordered at the cashier, paid, got a device with the number, and waited for it to beep. We order salmon, lamb chop, and shawarma beef and chicken. All come with rice and 2 side dishes. It was good that after you paid, they would find a table for you. You get free hot tea and water. Looks can be deceiving! When you see Mazra from the outside, you'll think of it as a small, tiny restaurant. However, don't let the exterior deceive you from how spacious and trendy it is on the inside! I wish I got photos, but Mazra's is a cute eatery to stop by for a quick bite! Check it out for yourself! As for the street style wrap, it deserves a 5/5! Not too salty or overwhelming with sauce, their street style wrap with steak hits the spot for a late afternoon lunch. YUM. I loved how they cut their red onions and pickles--all thin sliced and possibly slightly pickled? It gave the wrap a nice acidity and complemented the steak and tzatziki sauce! The steak was also cooked to perfection and juicy with each bite! My husband & I drive 30+ miles every once in a while to eat here because the food is just that good. Yesterday we came by thinking a Wednesday would mean the restaurant would be empty - wrong! Although it wasn't the usual weekend traffic, there was still a lot of people for midday on a Wednesday. Food: so well seasoned, cooked to perfection and delicious every single time. We have ate here for dozen of times now and it's a must have whenever we have people visiting town. The quality speaks for itself. This is currently our favorite spot in the Bay Area! Some of our favorite menu items are the lamb shank plate - the meat is so perfect & so is the flavoring and freshness of the rice. Kebab plates - always juicy & seasoned well. And my husband loves his steak wrap. The sides are also very delicious and fresh. Service: you order at cashier & get a pager. Self seating. It can take a while to find seating if you're there on the weekend because it's packed! (It really is that good). Fantastic Mediterranean spot! I've been wanting to try Mazra for SO long now and finally made it out to San Bruno. It was just me and my fiance so I didn't want to order too many things. We got to try: - 6 hour braised lamb shank with pita & 2 sides (hummus & arugula/beet salad): SO tender and flavorful and it went perfectly with the garlic sauce (I need a whole container of that stuff STAT). The hummus and arugula/beet salad were both good and balanced out the heaviness of the lamb. - Chicken shawarma street style wrap: Loved this dish as well!! The chicken wasn't dry at all and I appreciated the addition of fries inside the wrap. Everything in the wrap came together in the perfect bite! I ordered family style for table of 4. -Kebab Plate with Baba Ganoush and Garlic-roasted potatoes (Lamb and Beef Kebab) -Garlic Rotisserie Chicken with Fries and Hummus -Falafel Mezza Sampler -Chicken Kebabs I think this was more than enough for party of 4. I think my friends really enjoyed the kebabs, it also comes with rice and some grilled veggies. The rotisserie chicken looked very appealing and tender. The falafel sampler comes with 5 sides but you cannot choose the sides so you wait for the chef to give you some. So I was curious to know what he gives me. Finally when the plate arrived I was big confused by the arrangement as you could see the falafels came in a separate box and sides/salad in different. It took me some time to process together that they were together. On one hand where I loved the falafels, freshly fried and full of flavors, the sides were not really that great for my choice. The major portion of sides were Arugula and Beat salad, and tabbouleh salad. It also came with 2 dolmas, hummus and maybe the other sauce was tzaiki. All the dishes came with a pita which was good too. From the sides perspective, I think they could be more flavorful. I always look forward to Baba Ganoush, but it was average. Conclusion: Entress - Awesome, sides - Average. Mazra is a very busy place or at least for the Friday evening. We arrived at 7:20 pm and the places stops serving at 8:00 pm. You place the order and get your food served at the table and then they let you sit there till 9:00 pm before shutting down the place. I recommend eating family style here so you can try more options. We wanted to get a 6-hour lamb shank plate but they were already out of it. After reading so many positive Yelp reviews and then listening a coworker give glowing testimony I decided to give it a try. First thing I wanted to eat Shawarma. Just like the Avengers did during the end credit scene. It was quite decent. Big surprise: it came with fries (in it). Oh yeah. I gobbled it up like a losing contestant back from Survivor Island. I've never eaten here, but their take out is great. You can order a shareable platter and it is a great value, super delicious, and fun to share. Everything has been delicious and served in a huge bed of rice. I've even ordered the platter just for two--and saved the leftovers to eat the rest of the week. Time for a revisit, but this time we decided to eat in. Ordered the Double kebab plate - chicken and lamb. Both meats were juicy and flavorful, and served with plenty of rice as well as two sides. Fries arrived hot and crispy and their tzatziki is great with the fluffy pita. Also ordered the Falafel Mezze sampler. The falafels were hot and crispy - not dry at all. The vegetables were all very refreshing, especially after meat-heavy meals during the holidays. Also came with a hot, fluffy pita which just completes the meal. Plenty of food to share and we even had some to take home. There's also self serve hot tea which was great way to warm up on the cold, rainy day. 4.5 stars - really solid Middle Eastern food! I had the falafel plate, which is a good way to try out all the sides. Everything was good but not differentiated vs other Middle Eastern places. I probably could've used another piece of pita. Overall I enjoyed my meal. My partner had the kebab plate (lamb + beef skewers) and that looked soooo delectable. It's not a cheap meal at ~$17/plate but the grilled meats were delicious. Overall a good experience and I would stop by if I were in the area. This place has plenty of parking in the back and the service is prompt, and they They call your name when your food is ready for to go. I tried their beef and lamb kabob and it was decent. The beef one was very dry and the lam one was 7 stars out of ten. I felt that both were a bit dry and needed more flavor. I tried their hummus which was good and their cucumber yogurt which cut through the plain tasting rice. So There's been a buzz about Mazra and while I will go on the record saying this IS the best Mediterranean/Middle Eastern restaurant in the Greater San Francisco/Oakland/San Jose Bay Area, although I do have a few minor issues, I know that I will be ordering here again. Also, I strongly advise you eat your dish with a small glass of Ouzo (Metaxa) on ice. Pro's: I ordered the double kebab, double, meaning a plate with two types of proteins (lamb, chicken, shrimp or beef) which comes with a long grain rice, stewed cherry tomato, and some toum (crushed garlic/olive oil/lemon in a thick white dip) & hot sauce with a pita. All taste pretty darned good (w/minor issues, see my cons section). Also, the sides were diced cucumber salad and hummus: both perfect. The flavors of the beef and lamb were perfect. Dip that in the toum and you're close to being in heaven. Cons: Just two: the toum is too lemony and the garlic flavor is this too "lemonized." To me, the only purpose lemon has in toum is to act as a preservative; not be the major attraction. I prefer more garlicky toum so, to me, because I prefer a stronger garlic flavor, I've had better where you do not taste the lemon at all and the garlic flavor really pops. The other issue is that the plate hate too much long grain rice and not enough protein. I'd recommend substituting 1/2 the rice for two more pieces of each protein. Even if they do not adjust and take my recommendations here, I'll see myself adding this place to my routine to periodically make the pilgrimage from Oakland just to buy their stuff. For you tourists researching for a place nearby the airport, this place is a must if you love Middle Eastern cuisine. read more

I saw that Mazra was ranked #2 on Yelp's Top 100 restaurants list this year and it's easy to see why. The food here is absolutely delicious! We tried the double kebab plate (beef and lamb) with sides of baba ghanoush and tabbouleh salad ($18), as well as an order of Kibbeh ($8). We've never had Kibbeh before, which is a beef/lamb croquette made with bulgur, pine nuts, minced onion, and spices, and really enjoyed it. For the plate, the kebabs were wood-fired, so they had a delicious smoky flavor and were well-seasoned without being too dry. They paired super well with this garlic sauce that came with it. I really enjoyed all the wood-fired veggies and everything that came in the plate. The sides of baba ghanoush and tabbouleh salad also both tasted fresh and were refreshing to eat. The food here is cooked / seasoned so well and paired with great sauces. I loved the flavor and would definitely come back again. As a plus, you can order a la carte once you get there or order online for pickup and then seat yourself to eat.
