Good decor on an older house. My party can smell urine inside the restaurant while we were there only table inside at the time. Not surprised given the age of the building. The American interpretation of Asian food was so so. I think I would appreciate the dishes much more if their prices were halved. Seems like most dishes are overpriced. Gosh this meal was amazing, start to finish. My husband and I came to MC to celebrate our anniversary, and I'm so glad we did! We started with the wagyu beef app special, which was so good. Never had wagyu, and I never expected beef to melt in your mouth, but this really did! We also had a couple of cocktails - I had the cucumber basil martini, and he had the bacon Manhattan. For entrees, I had the Saigon Noodles, and my husband had the lobster and grits. Both were just delicious, and perfect portion sizes. We finished with the chocolate lava cake. First time at MC and will not be the last! From start to finish not a single complaint. Started off with a smoked Manhattan and lobster roll. Both were incredible. I had smoked old fashioned before, but never a Manhattan. The lobster roll was very flavorful. I had the whole white fish and my wife had surf and turf, which was a filet and crab cake. My white fish was the best I ever had, and it was accompanied by a small bowl of freshly cooked veggies and a bowl of rice. I worked to find every flake of fish, and was disappointed when it was all gone. The waiter said the chef had been cooking the white fish since he was ten in Vietnam, and he eats it once a week. My wife really enjoyed her filet and crab cake, and even left a bit of crab cake for me. Finished with molten chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream. A favorite of mine, and it was delicious like everything else. I cannot wait to go back, and I will definitely get the whole white fish again! read more

We've eaten here at least three times so it's time to do a review. First, if you're a picky eater be sure to check their Facebook page on Thursday each week for the most current menu. I greatly appreciate seeing a current menu regardless where I eat but especially at a place that changes based on local product availability. The cocktails are always great. I have enjoyed the cucumber basil gin martini more than once. Husband likes the smoked bacon manhattan. They also have a nice wine list. You cannot go wrong with their sushi. Love the spicy tail of two tuna roll or hamachi crudo. The oysters are always great. Consider any special of the day. The whole flounder offered during one visit was spectacular. I had the best green curry I've ever had here with Mahi and sea scallops, loved the bun cha honoring Anthony Bourdain, great shrimp tacos, and thoroughly enjoyed pork tournedos. My wife and I have been to MC three times now and, wow, each time has been incredible. I'm quite the foodie (born and raised in NY with incredible food everywhere) and MC does one of the best jobs at joining various Asian flavors with western elements. Two of my favorites are the calamari dish (which has a southeast element to it) and the spicy tuna avocado toast. They are simply incredible. We've tried various steaks (always good), the wagyu pho, and a seafood hotpot that was to die for. Hats off to the chef and staff. Simply amazing. read more

We've been to MC twice now and each time the food has exceeded our expectations. The menu is updated weekly which I cannot tell you how much I appreciate, and the sushi is always very fresh and beautifully put together. I highly recommend the hamachi and fatty tuna nigiri and the tale of two tunas roll. In terms of appetizers my favorite thus far has been the jalapeño popper which was fried and stuffed with cream cheese and crab. I have tried some of the specialty drinks with are good, my go to being the spicy margarita. I hope this restaurant makes it through the COVID storm as it is definitely my go to sushi spot in North Carolina and the atmosphere is stunning (we've eaten outside both times on these beautiful bistro tables that overlook the fountain in downtown Cary). read more

The restaurant is in an historic building, so cozy and intimate. Note the address because there isn't a sign outside. We parked behind the old library next door. My husband and I, went to this restaurant for our wedding anniversary, after a friend recommended it. It's quaint and a nice date spot. Our food and drinks were very good. Our waiter was nice, but seemed new, or just bit overwhelmed. The manager made it a point to almost cater to all of the tables around us, and completely ignored us. Once we got his attention he made it a point ask us how our food was. Well Shari and I "Dared to escape" on the first night in Phase 2! Decided to try this as the chef being of AN and we loved that. Didn't disappoint. Will admit having my temperature taken upon entering was a First! New world I guess. Shared the Octopus and White Dragon roll. (Pic). Great Pad Thai (different than any ever before). Shari had the Crab and Ramen noodles and she loved it. I am updating a previously glowing review based on one 'whatever' and one 'bad' experience, though I have had good ones in the past and I appreciate that the menu changes. Most recently, we warned our waiter that I was allergic to nuts. After some unimpressive food and service, he brought out a blueberry dessert that didn't have nuts listed in the ingredients. Every once in a while, the heavenly constellations align, and I find myself at the right place at the right time. Last night was as such. Behold the Beef Short Rib prepared by Chef Michael Chuong. The beef, first rubbed with Chinese 5-Spice, then braised for 3 hours in a classic red wine and aromatics concoction, is then joined on the plate with house-made garlic noodles and sautéed Gailan (Chinese broccoli). In summary, and with all literary fluff aside, this was the best short rib I've ever had. I'm talking across a world-wide pitch here. Moreover, I'll go on to state this was one of the best things I've ever eaten - EVER. To further aforementioned thoughts, everything I've ever had at MC Restaurant has been extraordinary. I tell my foodie friends, this guy works like a Maestro. The analogy being: sit at a piano and strike a massive major chord, where every note is in perfect harmony with every other note - there is no sonic dissonance anywhere. Such is the case with Chef MC's plated compositions - no single element in the flavor profile is ever non-harmonious with the companion elements. Chef works in perfect harmony, every time. This achievement is no small task. I see many younger, local chefs often fall short in this regard, clumsily including components that are either too 'sharp' or too 'flat' - breaching the true harmony on-plate. In summary, one can immediately recognize 30+ years of professional culinary expertise with every plated masterpiece that arrives on your table via his dexterous service staff, who are nothing short of world-class. To sum up, do not walk, do not run ... get into the nearest time displacement machine and teleport yourself *immediately* to MC Restaurant. read more

I absolutely love this place! The service is great, ambience is spot on and the food is amazing. I would come here every week if I could. I've been here a couple times since COVID 19, each time MC Restaurant has taken all the necessary precautions in taking your temperature, social distancing, providing hand sanitizer and requiring masks. They rotate their menu every week so there is always something new to try. They are also very accommodating and will prepare something not currently on the menu if they can. My all time favorite was the soft shell crab, it was fresh and seasoned and fried to perfection. Their signature almond prawns (my husband's favorite) are a decent size, with a crispy glaze on the outside. Even the bed of salad it is served on tastes amazing, I would buy their salad dressing if they sold it. This visit I tried the lamb tacos, they were good but I felt like it didn't pair well with the rest of the dishes, it was more heavy flavored and on the gamey side when compared with all the seafood. I much preferred the lobster tacos they had before. The calamari was nicely fried and seasoned, served on that same bed of delicious salad. The salt and pepper seafood was worth the buck, there were large pieces of seafood all fresh and not overly fried or breaded. My husband enjoyed it but I felt as an Asian restaurant they could have done something different like a garlic and chili stir fry, instead of the bland American deep fry. The seafood nest was new on their menu. Unfortunately, I was a let down by this dish. This is a common dish in Hong Kong, but tasted no where near, there was no wok flavor and the pairing of fried cucumbers with seafood did not work for me. The noodles were perfectly crisped though, I would have finished it had I not come across a bad scallop and did not want to risk it. The Manager assured me their seafood was freshed and delivered daily, which I believe, this is the first time I tasted something off. They had good uni, which is a good indicator that their seafood is fresh. I didn't have dessert this time, but they have pretty good desserts, in particular the matcha Creme Brule, I can't wait until that comes back on the menu. read more
