My brother and I had a great experience here. To start, our server was great. He was so nice and quick and on top of everything. We started with the bang bang shrimp to start. Enjoyed a nice lunch with a friend. We both ordered hibachi chicken. This came with brown rice, noodles, peppers and onions and two kinds of sauce. Plus for a little more we ordered iced tea and a vegetable spring roll and soup or salad. The veggies were cooked nicely, and were bright and colorful. The peppers had a nice crunch to them and the onions were sautéed well. The chicken was bite size and moist and this meal was enough for two. The spring roll was full of veggies and cooked well. There was a very large group taking almost half of the main dining room and just 1 server for that entire dining room. We were the only ones waiting for a seat and one came available 10 mins after arrival. The ambience was appealing and modern with both booth and table seating. One other smaller dining area was available just behind the host area. The bar further back beyond the main dining area also had seating but was noisier. Also, the place was like sitting in a refrigerated box...VERY COLD making the experience a bit challenging. The server was one of the hardest working ones ever experienced anywhere. She moved fast and efficiently among the large area she had to service in her own. Of course the need to do that with the packed crowd didn't give her much ability to interact except to just take the order and go. She excelled in everything you'd expect from a server, taking the order, delivering it and checking back to refill water. Very good server! The food was excellent except for the charred taste of the Lettuce Wrap meat. It tasted like they scraped the burn bits off the bottom. Thankfully the sauce covered the taste to allow them to be eaten. The Pineapple Fried Rice had just enough spice to blend nicely with the pineapples. This place is NOT what it' use to be. The BOGO were small basic rolls like this that were average and all specialty rolls were paid per roll. If they were high quality bangin rolls, I wouldn't be mad about it but my sister ordered two of her go-to rolls back in the day, she compared them to a grocery store quality roll. Also, every almost every dish was 20$+!! My Pad Thai wasn't bad -but then again, you can't really screw that up. The ambiance was VERY brightly lit and it was fairly empty for a weekend dinner night. Comes to show that you're doing something wrong and different than what it used to be where it would be absolutely slammed and had wait times to be seated. First time going to this place and chose it because Tasu stays open all day unlike most sushi spots that close at 2:30 and reopen around 5. It's located in Brier Creek and nice and clean inside, and everyone was wearing masks. When we went we were the only table there but unfortunately our server was really slow, not around when we needed him, and we saw him seated at a table in the back with his back towards us causing him to not pay attention to our table which caused a delay in things we needed. The crab rangoon was good! You can never go wrong with it. The calamari on the other hand was hard and dry, and a very small portion compared to other calamari appetizers at other restaurants. Would not get that again. The pad thai was great however it was like 70% meat and 30% noodles which some people might love but it was too many large pieces of chicken for me. The California roll on fire was amazingggggggg I would come back just for this! It was way better than the volcano roll, which we were actually not a fan of, and we ended up switching the volcano roll for another California roll on fire. Both times I have sat at the bar area, which is spacious and casual. They also have a full bar to include sake, wine, beer, and liquor. They have several martinis and cocktails, and run drink specials throughout the week. Tonight several of us shared appetizers and sushi. We had the bang bang shrimp (4 out of 5), chicken lettuce wraps (5 out of 5), calamari (1 out of 5, cold, crunchy, just not good), and crab Rangoon (2.5 out of 5, one did not even have any filling.. just fried dough with air in it and not in the good elephant ear kind of way). Sushi was a Bagel roll (3/5) and surf and turf roll (4/5). I really enjoyed the surf and turf, but the others really liked the Bagel roll. I also had the Beijing Bellini martini which was good and a dirty martini which was very strong. The 4 is a combination of value, menu options, and drinks.
