This store was so incredibly dirty. We recently moved to Memphis, and am used to McAlister's being clean. Unfortunately, this was not the case. The bathroom was dirtier than a rest stop bathroom. I arrived shortly after they opened for lunch. You would assume that they cleaned the bathrooms the night before... I'm certain they hadn't beeN cleaned in weeks. My soup was cold and my sandwich had stale bread. All in all I won't be returning to this location anytime soon. read more

Their tea is AMAZING!! Ive had many perfectly made potatoes here as well as great soup, and service. The only reason I couldn't give it 5 stars was because of the cookies. Literally the WORST McAllisters I have ever been to! I think McDonald's would rate higher than them. They get my order wrong every single time. Slowest, unmotivated workers too. The customer service is terrible and the work ethic is so bad they can't even put a fake smile on their face. When they complete a to go order ( not really completed though because they have it wrong) they don't even put it over at the to go pick up station but it takes 15 to get someone's attention to grab the bag from behind the counter. This is probably the worst McAlister's Deli location. The customer service is really poor, and I would eat there at your own risk. If poor customer service doesn't bother you (even when you're paying $8+ for a salad) then make sure you double check your food before you leave. I don't religiously re-check my order when they hand it to me; however, at this location ITS A MUST. Usually, if they mess up an order they will offer you a free (old and stale) cookie, but I'm assuming they've made so many errors that now that's not even available. Got here around 2:00 on Sunday afternoon. Not too many patrons but no friendly greeting that I've enjoyed at other places. Three employees were behind the counter - one a manager maybe - but only one guy taking orders. Not sure the purpose of those other two. One employee was in the dining room loitering with a family as they ate and having fun with the little boy. Not sure if child entertainment is on the menu. I waited in a short line to order with the one order taker. As I found a table, I noted the chairs and tables are arranged for a group that has left. No big deal for he employees though who still are having their conversations with each other at the counter as I write this 20 minutes later. The chairs are still not organized and the restaurant screams, "We take our time here. You aren't a major priority." It's a shame. The guy who took my order - the only one who has done anything since I walked in the door - just came out with a broom and dustpan. The girl at the register isn't terrible but she isn't great either. A customer's order taken, she slides back to the end of the counter where she can continue her conversation with a coworker - all smiles and giggles now that that customer is out of the way. Ok. The food is solid and great and would deserve 4 to 5 stars any day. However, the pretentiousness of the workers and the fact that they clearly do not understand why they are here get NO stars and are the reason I won't come back. There really should be an adult to supervise these kids. It's a pity since the place is VERY convenient to my house. I'm sure other McAllister's restaurants are managed better but what I see here screams poor management. Until you see the "Under new management" sign, I'd go somewhere else where there are at least a couple of doctors running the asylum. This is the WORST experience I've had since I've been reviewing on Yelp. Last thing: I could not resist having the worker who was actually working get the manager. I told the manager what I saw, the gist of this review and I think it was obvious that I was angry. I'm angry because this place has far more potential than this and the people simply and obviously don't give a damn. There is no reason that chairs and tables can't be properly arranged within 30 minutes and the floors swept so that patrons see an invitation rather than a reason to leave. A bad experience I should say. I don't know if it was a bad day, but I do know the one in Oxford would never be like this. Rip McAllisters. Sanitation. Terrible. The toilets were bad, hard to sit on without gagging. The bathroom door smelled like pee, and when I opened it, the door knob was wet, and not just wet, it was soaked. I washed my hands again and opened it with a paper towel. Service. :( Food. Our food was screwed up several times, It had to be sent back. Whew, y'all! I got a CLEAR picture of why this Mccalisters is rated two stars. So, I ordered through Uber Eats (mistake number one because I had deleted Uber for their awful customer service practices among other things). I'm recovering from an appendectomy and my appetite is still non-existent/all over the place. However, I have been craving veggies for most meals. So, I ordered the Pick Two with half a veggie spud and a BOWL of broccoli cheese soup (I paid extra to upgrade from a cup to a bowl). Then, I ordered my husband a Spud Max, which should be loaded with ham, turkey, bacon, cheese, olives, green onions, and sour cream. I kid y'all not- first of all, the food didn't arrive for more than an hour later. Then, they had the nerve to not even include my soup! There was a soup spoon and club crackers in the bag, but the soup was nonexistent. My husband opened his potato, which, if y'all know how they are supposed to look, those potatoes are supposed to be huge. This little dinky, skinny, hardened excuse of a potato sat in the box covered in nothing but olives, bacon, and green onions. Now, who's gonna eat that? I ordered him a brookie, too, as a special treat because he loves brookies... two burnt little bricks.‍‍ Long story short, I'm out $30 (because Uber wouldn't refund it- bye bye to them!) and went to bed hungry. Ok so I pass this place several times during the week and have never been. I'm not really a sweet tea and sandwich kinda girl, but boy did I not now what I was missing. I finally decided to try it, since I had bought a groupon for it, after reading their menu and seeing they have huge baked potatoes. I went during lunch time so naturally it was full, but me and my sister managed to get a table. We both ordered the cheese and bacon spud with the broccoli and cheese soup on the side, needless to they were both delicious. I was so full after eating all that, but we also shared the chocolate cake which I loved, it was so chocolatey after two bites I couldnt eat anymore. The staff was all great always asking if you need anything and always cleaning up as soon as someone leaves. I did not try the sweet tea, but seeing how I will definitely be coming back, I will give it a try next time. read more

McAlister's is not the best sandwich shop in town although it has some great attributes that make up for it. For starters anyone who frequents this deli knows that they are considered to have the best tea in town. Even though Memphis has some of the best water in the USA they use multi-filtration system to purify the water they use to make the tea. Because McAlister's sells large quantities of tea it tends to always be fresh. Mcalisters is also a great place for groups and meetings. I have showed up last minute with a group of 15 before and they had no problem accommodating us. I meet people here often when something needs to be discussed and they have no problem letting you stay for hours getting tea refills. The overall menu is pretty decent as well as the appetizers and deserts. The baked potatoes are huge, they take two potatoes and make one giant baked potato. With the soups and chili you can get any of them in a bread bowl, which according to my wife is one of the best bread bowls in town. Also you can order any sandwich on any bread.Try the pot roast sandwich it has a surprisingly good taste for a sandwich shop! read more

Been waiting 30 minutes for our food. Watching as others get their food. Or should I say getting the wrong food. Girl came by and had to take our receipt so they could get our food... because apparently they two of the same number. And you look in the back and the guys have ear phones in. Disappointing. The food is what you expect but the staff truly act like they can't be bothered with being polite. I asked for a tea refill, made sure to say 'Thank you' when handing my cup and then again when she handed it back to me and there was no acknowledgement and definitely not a 'you're welcome'. I have been to this location many times over the years but it has really gone downhill. I had to make 2 orders because the woman at the register wasn't even paying attention and missed my other meal. In the past, this location had a number of young high school age or college age employees that were eager to work, but now it seems like these older folks working there have zero respect for customers and don't care to help. read more

I ate here recently while visiting Bartlett. I use to eat here often when I lived in the area 5 years ago and I always loved it, so I thought it would be a nice place to visit again while in town. First, I went to the bathroom which was disgusting. This made me hesitant to even eat here. The floors and the handheld menus were also very dirty. The food came quickly and was fine. If you've been to any McAlister's, you're familiar with what they have to offer - soups, salads, sandwiches, baked potatoes, etc. The food here is pretty uniform to all other locations. They're famous for their sweet tea, and it is indeed good. I like their potato salad and some of the grilled sandwiches. This location seems to be perpetually slammed during dinner and especially during lunch. If you choose to go here, I highly recommend calling your order in, and even then I've waited 20-30 minutes just to get to the register to pick up my food. Because they stay so busy, sometimes it's hard to find a clean table or a free table at all if you do choose to dine here. Overall, it's an acceptable place if you're in the area and want typical deli fare, but expect to wait if it's during peak times. read more

Worst service I have ever experienced. I placed a catering order for a work function with plenty of advanced notice. When I got there to pick up my order was not ready nor could they find my order. I waited for about 30 minutes for them to make my order and before I left it still was not accurate. I waited for the correction and in all my frustration still left without the chips that were supposed to come with my order. Something needs to change at that location. This is not my first time experiencing bad service from this location but first time complaining about it. I will definitely rethink where I place my next catering order. I'm unsure why I continue to come to this particular location. Every single visit is a pain, not for the employees because they don't give two craps but for the customer. I placed an order online today just to prevent having to speak to the employees(yes it's that bad). I put every single thing I wanted on my order including extra sauce or take offs. Tell me why they don't put my dressing in the bag so I have to ask. I get home and realize they didn't give us pickles which should basically come with most if not all orders. No avocado on either my sandwiches. I mean I can go on and on. The employees have no customer service skills and don't seem well trained at all. We ordered pickup from this location and 3 out of 4 of our meals were wrong. My son ordered the kids chicken with broccoli and they literally gave him broccoli soup with some chicken on top. I had to wait 30 almost 40 minutes for those items bc the employees and the manager couldn't keep up with what customer ordered what and they gave my order to the wrong customer. Well after waiting all of that time I finally got my food. After I got home I realized they didn't even give me the dip with my chips and dip. I wouldn't have time to go back because I had to go to work but my fiancé went up there. They did give her a free desert and fresh chips and dip but after she had to ask for it and after we went through all of the inconvenience we had to deal with. First of all, one of the potatoes ordered was like it had been in the microwave too long, the ends were hard. Then I ordered a horseradish roast beef and cheddar sandwich and there was no horseradish but a substance that looked like mayo. My son was unable to eat it, only took a bite. It's been a few years since I've eaten at a McAlister's. There are locations near my house and office and it seemed like regardless of which one I went to and what I ordered, the service and quality of food was mediocre at best. For the sake of convenience, I ended up at this location a few days ago. My go-to favorite was the veggie spud. Previously it has fresh green, red, and yellow bell peppers, black olives, onions, shredded mozzarella cheese, and salsa. This time, it had the peppers, but they're now using broccoli and four cheese sauce. The broccoli was fine, but the four cheese sauce was disgusting. Thankfully, there wasn't much of it and I could eat around it, but it was definitely not appetizing. The tea is still the great McAlister's tea and the chocolate chunk brownie I had was good, but not the freshest. Service was typical for a McAlister's. Disinterested young adults taking the orders and bringing the food out. It took about 15 minutes for everyone at my table to receive their food. Tables were clean-ish. They weren't terribly dirty, but there were definitely crumbs there and on the floor. The bathroom was relatively clean, but given that this was 11:20am before the lunch rush, the place should have been cleaner and food orders not backed up. I will probably not return to this or another McAlister's location. There are too many other choices. read more

Although the food is pretty good for a deli takeout, the I have to rate them at 1 star. I visited there today, and my experience was less than mediocre. My entire visit, I felt rushed. They truly wanted me in and out. I was rushed to place my order then got attitude from the cashier, Christina, while asking her about soups available for the day. When I asked for her name, she snidely told me and asked for mine. After that, I asked who the manager was. She pointed to someone to the left of her, while simultaneously a man came from behind her stating he is the manager.
