Came for a pharmacy/meeting dinner. The room is set up nicely. They had plenty of apps! (My fav was the bacon wrapped shrimp, they also served fresh bread. The Caesar salad was mid. For the main course the filet wasn't all that bad, it was served with a shrimp scampi topping and the shrimp were decently sized and I enjoyed the sauce when I combined it with my other sides. The broccoli was undercooked and pretty bland and the mashed potatoes were very gluey. Overall it was an ok experience. When it comes to happy hour, many of us have strayed from the good ole faithful and it's time for us to go back. My girls and I go to happy hour at least twice a month so this time around, we chose McCormick & Schmick. This was my first time here and it won't be my last. I love steakhouses so this was no exception. We went on a Tuesday around 4pm and they have a generous happy hour that goes till 7pm. They even have happy hour on the weekends. Before we sat, I went to the bartender Ziphion aka Z to ask for an old fashioned mocktail. He told me he'd be able to make something shake, and he sure did. Our waitress Eve, a gem who has been there since 2008 came over with the happy hour menus and we ordered a bunch of stuff. We got the fries chicken (which my friends loved), the calamari, ahi tuna, fries and spinach artichoke. Everything was 10/10. The food and the drinks were a hit and the service was top tier. Wanted to treat myself after a long week and decided to have a nice ribeye for dinner. I placed the order at the bar and the food took at least 40 minutes to come out. This wasn't a huge deal because the bartenders were really nice and kept checking on my order. I ordered a slice of the upside down apple pie because why even dine here and not enjoy this dessert. When I got home I saw that it was completely burnt. I was so upset and can't believe the kitchen would even send this out to a guest. It's taste just like it looked - charred and not edible. MS is my favorite go to spot. There are a gazillion restaurants in the Galleria area but this is my favorite. Why, you ask? The management and staff make this place. The bartenders are simply amazing. Caylii is the one I have known the longest so of course she's my fav, but I adore them all. Glenn runs a tight ship because everything runs like a well oiled machine. Everything is very clean. Shout outs to all the amazing people that work here: Toni, Emory, Spence, Caylii, Eve, Kai. It should've been called overly dry pigeon. How do you mess up Brussels sprouts, and mac/cheese! My son had the Chef's special. The chef should be ashamed of himself. Upon arrival to the restaurant everything was going well. However it was when I picked up my napkin off the table that things got interesting. There was a live roach in the wrapped napkin. I was able to shake it off on to the ground and the server quickly squashed it. But the remains stayed on the ground. I asked for a new table setting and he quickly brought another over but this new set was dirty. The fork had food still stuck between the tongs. After the server finally got clean silverware things started to get some what better. We ordered three appetizers but only two came out before the entrées arrive. I've only eaten at one other McCormick & Schmick's Steakhouse and that was a number of years again while in Atlanta and that visit played a major part in the decision process to dine here. I met a few business associates here for dinner after a long day at work. The atmosphere is very inviting and we were able to find parking without utilizing the valet service. Fortunately there was no wait time and after being greeting by the extremely welcoming hostess we were seating immediately. Our server was very friendly and professional and really set the tone for our visit - he missed nothing and was extremely knowledgeable about everything on the menu and made a number of recommendations. After placing our drink orders we had time to explore all the offering and once the cold bottle beers arrived we discuss our decision with our server as he poured and distributed the beers in chilled glasses. We all ordered the Dry Ages Ribeyes at different temperatures and a different choice of the three potato dishes offered (fries, roasted and mashed) and decided to order a side of the truffle Mac n Cheese for the table. The steaks arrived perfect cooked to order each with a temperature stake proving the kitchen understood what the expectation were - everything arrived correct and nothing was missed even though our server never wrote anything down hence my comment on his professionalism. True to their reputation M&S delivered on their promise, the steak were of high quality and perfectly executed and the sides were prepared and served hot and of course the beer was cold. It's been a while since we've been to McCormick & Schmick's Seafood & Steaks. Usually we go for meetings with a preset menu of a soup or salad, entree and dessert. Service has always been on point. Love that the meeting rooms are set back from the hustle and bustle of the main dining rooms. Quiet enough to clearly hear the speaker, but comfy enough to chat with friends or colleagues afterwards. This last time went for Happy Hour and it was so much fun. Totally different vibe with a great selection of Happy Hour drinks and bites. So happy to also see some fun zero proof mock-tails on the menu. Loved the crispy Baja fish tacos. Two full size cobia tacos served on a choice of corn or flour tortillas with jicama slaw, fire roasted corn salsa and an avocado cilantro aioli. Delish! Will definitely be coming back for $2 Taco Twos-days!! The seared ahi tuna was perfect. Family loved the lamb sliders. The lettuce wraps were okay. My friend and I enjoyed a pleasant Happy Hour here. I started out on the patio, but it started raining, and Tristan moved me inside at my request. Speaking of Tristan, we agreed he was one of the best servers we've had in a while... so personable and gracious, yet polished and efficient. He made us feel like welcomed guests! Today it was M&S for a Friday BDay HH. Parking here is currently $8.00 valet or drive around and find free parking. Got there at 4pm in order to get a booth in the bar. We were greeted by a smiling server which was a great way to start the celebration. Our server talked us through the HH menu and then the wonderful started. We started with some Bulleit old fashion less sugar along with an order of calamari. The drinks were top scale and the calamari was full of flavor. Then we ordered 2 orders of Pork Belly Bao, along with a lemon drop drink and some Bulleit bourbon straight up. The lemon drop was a bit too sweet and the pork in the Bao was just ok. But all was still good. Last round was a gold margarita along with some chicken lettuce wraps, some bruschetta and a couple of orders of fried fish tacos. Bruschetta needed more flavor and cheese. The chicken lettuce wrap was also bland. The fish tacos were good. So HH ends at 6:30pm. And by 5:30pm the bar was packed and the people get loud. Overall it was a fun Bday HH as the people that joined me kept the party going. I thought about this long and hard before I left this review. I have visited this location multiple times and have had great experiences until this past Friday. A groups of colleagues and I decided to meet at Uptown's location for drinks, socializing and good food. We sat in the bar area, ordered drinks and food. Our waitress wasn't really pleasant, as we all noticed. When our food arrives, myself and another person ordered the same dish. However, it came on the same plate and the waitress tells me that I would have to get my item off of the other person's plate due no more available plates. I was truly offended and felt it was really inappropriate for anyone to have to retrieve their food from someone else's plate. I immediately asked for the manager. Although she provided GREAT customer service in rectifying the situation, I still had to go back and forth with the waitress about my food.
