This location was not busy when we walked in about 11:15. It took quite a while to get our food and then, the fries were nearly cold. We noticed others waited a long time to get their orders if they got them at all before going to the counter to check on it. The cashier was also the same person delivering food to the tables. While we were there the line got long several times. That poor cashier did all she could do to keep up with both cashiering and delivering food. No wonder the food temperature was subpar. read more

Whenever we have the kids, we stop at this McDonald's on the way to or from Las Vegas. It's a good place to let the kids stretch and have fun. There are other places that you can eat at or shop at this location. There's something for everybody. It can get really crowded when there are tour buses there. I actually like this famous Barstow Station because it has a variety of different things going e.g. gift shop, clean bathrooms and different fast food for everyone's palate. What I didn't like is that lunch items eg fries are not served until after 11AM, unlike other McDonald's. Yes, there is no wrong time for fries, even at 9:30AM. The lady behind the counter wasn't very nice about breaking THAT news to me. Asked for sweet and sour sauce another time and was told if I wanted one it was 25 cents. Wow. Oy vey. So history is history and don't get me wrong, it's a cool idea having a hollowed out train station with train cars to eat in is a very neat idea for your Route 66 travel however the scenery is not made up for the food and service. My husband apologized but we didn't hear what she mumbled. we never got an answer as we kept trying to see if we could order. We waited 7 minutes still no response. Like other yelpers report, everybody and their mom stops here. It's convenient but busy. What I liked was the fact that I walked in from a 7 hour trip looking like crap but so did everyone else. Bathroom was disgusting! Doors didn't lock and the place reaked of poo. Food was tasty and they offer bowls that other McDonald's doesn't. Eating inside a train car was very fun but a weird smell eminated everywhere. Try this place at least once. It's fun, especially with the other small shops there. read more

Most unprofessional, rude service I have ever had, I ordered two coffees, when I got to the second window the person told me that they are out of coffee, and she asked me if I would like anything else in exchange for the coffees, I respectfully asked for my $4.98 back, she then replied that we can not give you a refund (her manager told her on her headphones) I replied to her that I will come inside and speak with the manager. I then went inside and the cashier at first refused to refund me the money, the manager was not even professional enough to talk to me, they had the cashier do their job, however they finally refunded me the money, that manager should be fired immediately, for not only refusing to do their job, but trying to steal from a customer. read more

This McDonald's is located inside Barstow Station. It had some self-service kiosks so I decided to get something. Due to the number of people at the time, it took about 5-10 minutes to come out even though I ordered something that required very little preparation. They have fountain drinks. read more

Terrible service. We had to order 5 times until he finally got it right. There is a sign that says No Refunds We will fix your order if it is wrong. When I saw that I knew we had to check our order. It took forever to get our order in the drive thru and no one was at the window. When our order finally came we checked it and sure enough it was wrong. The person at the window disappeared again so we had to knock on the window to get someone to assist us. The lady did not want to listen to how they gave us the wrong order and just kept repeating, do not touch my window, do not touch my window. I like this location, it's really cute. Service here was fast and the cashier was nice. I got a quarter pounder with fries and a drink to go. Before we left I used the restroom here, which was dirty. My burger wasn't bad, the bun was a little on the stale side though. My fries were cold, which was disappointing. I didn't really like them. Zero stars if I could, the employees and managers here are useless, and that's coming from a former McDonald's manager. I know there can be rude customers so I tried to ignore the Yelp reviews and see for myself. Biggest mistake I've made, asked an employee for help with sauce for my sons chicken nuggets since you can't order it on the kiosk (he likes Mac sauce instead of any other sauce) and she told me she couldn't I'd have to get in line and order it, which is why I went to the kiosk to begin with to avoid the line, i don't mind paying for it at all but to wait in a huge line for something I can't control ( again it's not available on the kiosk) so I asked to speak to a manger because I knew that was BS, at the McDonald's I worked at we would just charge the customer the 36 cents and then ring it up after when we had time and just ask the kitchen for it and get it right away to not inconvenience the customer and when they ordered it with nuggets like I did it would be free we would just substitute it. So instead of grabbing a manager she grabs another rude, incompetent employee that walks away mid sentence of me speaking and leaves me talking to myself. Mind you I was not rude at all. Meanwhile the manager who sees what's going on, ignores everything and gives everyone behind me orders that are incomplete btw, so now there's multiple families upset at the service. A man asked for water and they told him no he'd have to get in line for a cup for one. IN LINE FOR A CUP OF FREE WATER, THAT YOU DONT HAVE TO PAY FOR, WHEN THE CUP WAS RIGHT NEXT TO HER. I could not believe it, If you're going to stop for the train cars, DONT, not worth the frustration of dealing with the incompetency, lazy, and misery of the employees here. Between trips to Arizona and home I occasionally have to stop at this McDonalds for a little something for me and the kids. I admittedly love McDonalds coffee. Its good coffee and cheap. The other plus is the drive thru. This location is crazy busy every time we stop in. The line goes fast for the drive thru and the bathrooms for the occasional times we have to go inside. Extremely slow, under staffed, fries from my Big Mac meal were super cold and stiff, no salt added at all. Sandwich was built very fast and i could tell. Very bad smell coming from the mix of restaurants, notice that this is not a classic McDonalds, but a food court with a bunch of different restaurants. Smells terrible. I've been to this McD's many times and received good service. Not today. Ordering was so difficult and had to be repeated. We had a simple order two coffees and 2 egg McMuffins. We ended up with 3 coffees 2 McMuffins and a McRib. They refunded the McRib at first window and substituted a hash brown for the third coffee at pick up window. The food and coffee was good. This McDonalds has great customer service. I ordered breakfast around 5 in the morning through the drive thru. Even as early as 5am, there was already a line for the drive thru. As soon as it was time for me to pay, I was greeted by a gentleman who took my order with great customer service. He would even try to add jokes to brighten up the morning. Once my food was ready, a different person handed me my order with great customer service and wishes the best for the rest of my day. I was driving alone heading back to California from Las Vegas, so decided to park at the parking lot to finish my meal. There is plenty of parking spots available. Wow. I have NEVER been to a worse or more ghetto McDonald's in my entire life. I stopped in here last night on my way back from Vegas and I was greeted by the most undesirable, loud, and rude group of people I have ever encountered. I'm not sure if they were locals or travelers though. The place was dirty, grimy and crowded. Oh, and there were bums and other assorted hoodlums hanging around outside waiting to accost me as soon as I walked out the door!
