I hired McNulty Construction for a large construction project at my home in San Francisco. The work consisted turning the first level crawl space into habitable space. This involved shoring the house, pouring all new foundation and retaining walls, and expanding the walls and framing. Overall, Mick (owner) and his team's work was thorough and detailed, and I would recommend him to other home owners, and consider him for my next project. 1) Mick (the owner) was the most thorough in bidding compared to other contractors. He came to the house multiple times, brought subcontractors to look at the job, and ultimately gave an estimate that was competitive and had my confidence. 2) Mick was one of the safest and most punctual contractors I have met. The work would start at the exact time every day, the work site would be thoroughly cleaned each day, and there would be high emphasis on safety (hard hats, signage, etc) 3) Mick had to communicate with an architect, three engineers, and a variety of subcontractors and he handled that very well. He was always a step ahead in seeing upcoming problems to resolve. 4) Mick was at the job site and worked with others himself each day! This raised the quality and made sure the work stayed on track. 5) the work finished on time, as previously estimated, despite the fact that the work was done during the rainy winter. 6) Most importantly, the end result was great, all inspections passed on the first try, and other contractors and subcontractors that visited the site were impressed. Mick did a great job helping us complete our garage renovation. He was easily reachable and always replied back quite fast. He quickly became a project manager for us when he was able to get us an engineer for the plans and permits required. He was also able to bring in plumbers and electricians needed to meet code requirements. If there were any issues, he was able to handle it in all aspects of the project. I hired Mick to help with a sewer replacement, driveway and sidewalk replacement, as well as a deck build-out, at my home in San Francisco. He and his team have done an excellent job. Mick provided excellent communication, being able to talk on the phone, via SMS, or via email as needed. It was a true pleasure working with the competent team of professionals at McNulty construction for our recent home project. We needed to demo and replace our cement entry stairs which was a large and invasive project and what we thought most likely would be a very stressful one. However Mick (of McNulty construction) approached the project with such a high level of professionalism, honesty and integrity that it kept the stress and inconvenience of it all to a bare minimum. But just wanted to say that Mick went above and beyond to help when his company was not available to work on our project, which is rare for a contractor. After responding quickly to my original inquiry with an initial site visit, he was gracious enough to let me know soon after that he didn't have the bandwidth to work on our project but would put me in touch with a great contractor who specialized in our type of foundation. This review is not for any work that McNulty Construction did for me. According to the reviews, I am sure they do a good job. I am just expressing my experience just as the other reviewers did. I am currently in contract for a house with a brick foundation and wanted to meet with a contractor to decide whether we should move forward on the property. If we decide to move forward, I wanted to get the foundation done and would consider McNulty because of the good reviews. I scheduled for someone from McNulty to come out to estimate how much it would cost to replace or repair a brick foundation. I paid $250 for him to come out so this was not a free estimate. He found out that I didn't own the property yet and was rude, not helpful and condescending which I did not understand since I am paying him to come out to look at the property. Even the listing agent and my investor said he was unpleasant. He was extremely brash that I even forgot to ask him for an estimate on repairing the decks, stairs and dry rot. I understand that he cannot give me an exact estimate because I didn't have a structural engineer draw up plans yet but what is the $250 for then? I just don't think that was worth $250 for the service that I received. I felt a bit cheated. read more

I had Dry Rot at my place in the Sunset. After trying to get someone to come and give me a quote for weeks, I found Mick and his Crew. He was very upfront about the potentially pricey nature of Dry Rot issues, and kept me apprised throughout.
