    Fried Pork Chops, Eggs Potatoes
    Johanne R.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]This venue is really unassuming. Initially, you'd think it's a tiny restaurant with about 4 tables. Keep going back towards the rear, there is more seing as well as outdoor patio seating. There's even bar seating in the rear[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There's a unisex bathroom which helps because women always seem to be waiting for the restroom.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The service is vast and proficient. The employees are very professional and check on the table quite often. Enjoyed the Strawberry Lemonade. The Fried Pork Chops, Eggs Potatoes and another one with Rice instead of the Potatoes and also French Toast Eggs and Bacon. The food came out hot. The Bacon was crispy. I was truly impressed with the French Toast. The Pork Chops very flavorful. Would I return?, you ask..M'Dears, I'll be back now..ya hear?

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Great energy in this place the moment you walk in.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The waitresses are really kind and attentive. Raketa is the best. She made sure we had a wonderful first time experience. Unfortunately they had ran out of the peach cobblerbut I was able to grab the last apple one so not bad. The food was very good. The T-bone steak was very tender and flavorful. The grits and polish sausage was very yummy. The biscuits are a must.! My son had the pork chops which he said were really good. Crispy on the outside yet tender on the inside, made perfect. The Tiffany mimosa was good too. If you're in the area it's a great little spot to satisfy your tummy and tastebuds. The portions and prices are done right.

This place is amazing! I was invited to meet some community partners for brunch. One of the best soul food restaurants in Los Angeles. A small bistro with a big menu, full of down home southern comfort. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There are about 6 booths and a couple of tables in the front. In the back, there is a bar and several dining tables and chairs.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The staff here are really nice and welcoming. I plan on trying a few more items in the future but on my first visit I ordered the fried catfish, yams and macaroni and cheese. All perfectly prepared and delicious. The Arnold Palmer was well balanced and the red velvet cake was absolutely tasty. Highly recommended

Update: We visited M'Dears just after New Year's. Our young adults said the pancakes were mediocre and tasted odd to them. I tried some of the pancakes, and I thought they tasted good. I ordered Reggie's Vegetables, which turned out to be quite bland. Most of the vegetables, like peppers, onions, and broccoli, were raw. The home-style potatoes were the highlight of the meal. The only thing that made it better was the eggs--both over easy and scrambled--that our children shared with me since they don't eat them. We suspected our waiter was new because we had to ask a couple of times before we finally received our warm water. This time, we paid the bill after the meal, which was different from our experience on Mother's Day in 2024. [[HIGHLIGHT]]For our Mother's Day celebration at M'Dears in Los Angeles, the atmosphere was very neighborhood-friendly, and you could tell they support many local businesses.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] A good number of people came out to celebrate the occasion. The value and portion sizes were well-balanced. They served some delicious drinks, especially one called the New Orleans Hurricane. The French toast, chicken sausage, and hotcakes were all tasty. I also tried salmon croquettes and fried snapper, but both were dry and lacked rich flavor. Overall, we enjoyed the food and were fully satisfied, so we decided to return to M'Dears in the future. The menu is extensive, and there are plenty of sweet options, like banana pudding.

Food: 8/10 Service: 10/10 Ambiance: 9/10 If you're in Los Angeles and craving soulful comfort food with an upscale twist, M'Dears Bakery & Bistro is an absolute must! [[HIGHLIGHT]]From the moment we walked in, the warm atmosphere and inviting vibe set the tone for an amazing dining experience.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I ordered the smoked turkey tacos, greens, cornbread, yams, and catfish--and every single bite was pure perfection. The flavors were rich and authentic, and the seasoning was spot-on. The catfish was tender and flaky, the greens were succulent and practically melted on my taste buds, and the yams struck the perfect balance of sweet and savory with just the right texture. The cornbread? Soft, moist, and baked to golden perfection. Honestly, I had to stop myself multiple times from licking my fingers! Our server, Craig, was phenomenal--polite, attentive, and genuinely hospitable, which made the entire experience even better. If you're ever in the LA area and want a meal that feels like home but tastes like heaven, M'Dears Bakery & Bistro in Manchester Square should be at the top of your list. Amazing food, wonderful service, and reasonable prices--this spot checks all the boxes!

So went on a Saturday morning it was busy, wrote our name on the list and was called and seated in about 10 mins not bad at all. I ordered the Reggie's Veggies with egg and asked would it be scrambled with everything. I was told that it would. When my food arrived it was scrambled egg on top and looked like everything else was cooked separate as well. It had no favor at all. I asked the waitress to remove it from the bill and was told that she had done us a favor because they normally charge before your food arrives. That's new to me!!

The purple drawings show most of the mold on the cobbler deserts served and sold at the M'Dears Restaurant.

The food was okay. The potatoes were dry. But worse of all the deserts that are displayed for purchase at the entrance of the restaurant were MOLDY!!! We purchased the apple and peach cobbler deserts and both were MOLDY on top and mold could be seen on the sides of the desert where the butter bubbles. See the pictures attached to this review. The health department should be called because this was NOT ACCEPTABLE!!! Very disappointed because this restaurant is in my neighborhood. The service, and now the quality of the food has gone downhill. Definitely not worth the price, gas or walk to go there. Proceed with caution!!!!

Frozen Salmon Croquettes and aged home fries.

Extremely slow service. Orders not prioritized, leftover home fries, and seafood items taste frozen-not fresh.

A time was had! I recently held my father's 80th birthday party at M'Dears. The staff was very professional, polite and helpful. Food was delicious. I recommend considering them for your parties.

It's relatively busy but the line moved swiftly. The Larchmont store was pretty lively with the crowded and colorful wall deco! It's pretty fun to see that they came up with more seasonal items lately and most of them nailed it well when they came to cookies. Previously the lemon one and the most recent was the Raspberry Pistachio which I was impressed by as I just fancied sweet and refreshing combo of white chocolate and raspberry. The pistachio added more texture to it for sure. Same as any Levain cookies, best enjoyed warm and fresh out of oven. The Cookie Milk Latte was actually the main reason bringing me here, yet I was bit let down by it as I was expecting more malty cookie flavor in the drink. I felt it tasted not much different to regular cream top latte with some cookie crumbles in it.

Delicious drinks and creative pastries!…read more Tried Fondry LA and the matcha vanilla pistachio drink was definitely the highlight--so delicious and perfectly sweet without needing any sweetness adjustment. Easily my favorite thing I tried! The tofu cream croissant toast was airy and light, with a creamy topping that wasn't overly sweet. The mushroom béchamel was savory and good. I only got it because my brother suggested it. Normally I would not seek mushroom pastries even though I like mushrooms. The yuzu meringue croiffin was good, but I am not used to tart flavors in croissant/pastry combination. The cafe is very tiny, with only one table for seating, so it's more of a grab-and-go spot. There are seats outside. I also wanted to try the black sesame pastry, but didn't see it available when I visited. I'd definitely go back to try it. The drink was the standout for me!

The key is to go on a weekday to avoid the line, as the weekend can definitely get busy. This last time I finally got to try the tofu cream topped croissant, which was ~to die for~. It was a little bit savory with the miso but still (not too) sweet. This felt super original and I would definitely recommend. I also tried the pistachio croissant and asparagus danish this time round and both were extremely good as well. I would have no qualms with re-ordering either. The only note is the pistachio cream is pretty runny, so it's hard to cut and share, as the cream just oozes out. The workers there are super friendly and kind. The drinks are also very good if you're looking to get a little extra treat as well.
